Set between Lake Delio and Lake Maggiore at an altitude of 1000 m, Albergo Diana overlooks Locarno and Ascona. It offers an Italian restaurant, free parking and a large terrace with panoramic views. Rooms have a classic design and feature a TV and private bathroom equipped either with bath or shower. Some of them come with a balcony. A sweet Italian breakfast is served each morning. The restaurant is open every day except Tuesdays and offers specialities from the region. Diana Hotel has a quiet location surrounded by woods with lots of nature trails. A car is recommended for all guests as public transport is scarce. The shores of Lake Maggiore are 30 minutes away by car. The Swiss border and Tronzano Lago Maggiore are 45 minutes' drive away. Guests can reach the hotel taking the road from Maccagno, and passing through Campagnano and Musignano.
Pros: Wonderful view from the windows and balcony. The road to hotel was very tricky: too many serpentines and one-car wide.
Pros: Location (long drive but beautiful views) and the food is great! Staff is very friendly.
Cons: Rooms very basic. Small bathroom, no fan or air conditioning so very warm.
Pros: It was stunning. Beautiful view, good food. Quite a long drive up but you will be rewarded. Worth the drive.
Pros: Staffs did their best to make the stay as comfy as possible.
Cons: Location; the adress is not even in the navi of my rental car.
Pros: Nice location, good food and friendly staff.
Pros: The location is amazing, the view is awesome, the hotel is a simple but clean and nice. The staff is very friendly they helped us everything. Breakfast is ok, not hot breakfast but ok. We could put our bikes into the garage.
Cons: Since the heating was off during the night the room became cold.
Pros: Special drive to the top. Very friendly people and very nice food
Located in Brezzo di Bedero, Agriturismo La Betulla is within a 10-minute drive of Madonna del Carmine Sanctuary and Ferroviario del Verbano Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Much as we expected with a true rustic feel. We visited the goats twice ! Breakfast was good and restaurant staff good fun although maybe we did not understand each other at times.
Cons: Initial impression and checking in was not brilliant---"PASSPORTS" --maybe it was because of the language difference although it was apparently the boss lady that we saw! There was no obvious English words on the menu, but seemingly lots of German. This made the dinner menu difficult to order from, although we did not go hungry. Perhaps La Betulla should appreciate the English a little--but maybe there are not many visitors from the UK.
Pros: The Restaurant is excelent. The room a little small and the beds not that good and small
Pros: Typical Italian breakfast (nothing cooked) although more variety and of good quality. Very friendly and helpful staff (due to the heat I asked for a fan and this was arranged without any fuss or charges), clean and tidy rooms, with great blinds. The restaurants serves some great classics and good variety of food and of good standard. Location-wise in a quiet area off the main roads, a two minute drive to Porto Valtravaglia and the 'beach' and roughly an hour to Malpensa. If you go with smaller children or teenagers, drive an hour to the Lido in Locarno, Switzerland for a great day out!
Pros: The restaurant is OK - very busy, so service was a little slow. The food was good. This is a convenient location if you want an overnight stop on Maggiore as you go past between Switzerland and Italy.
Cons: We arranged an early checkin, but when we arrived we had to wait an hour - until well after the advertised check-in time. The rooms downstairs are pretty small and dark; there are a couple of seats outside but no privacy. If you walk to the end of the garden, you can just about see the other side of Lake Maggiore, but it's a very restricted view.
Pros: Bed comfortable
Cons: Pillow too hard
