The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was comfortable. They had a problem with the alarm system. It kept going off and if there were ever a real emergency, you can't miss it. The alarm in the room is deafening. Fire department came and cleared the building, but it kept going off, so people just started assuming it was false. They eventually got it fixed before normal sleeping hours. Thank goodness.
Nice quite room, staff was great
Top notch hotel. Always clean and comfortable. Staff was very courteous and helpful. I will be staying here again. Pillow selection is limited. All of them are thick and fluffy. I prefer a flatter, firmer pillow since I sleep on my stomach. I made do, but it would have been nice.
Breakfast took a very long time because they only had 1 toaster. They should look at getting another toaster, because the line was long for people waiting to toast something.
Location fit my needs The control panel on the heater/air unit was filthy as was the telephone. . The hotel needs to take each room and deep clean.
Location was nice. Visit was for a family wedding at 1 PM on 6-11 and since check-in time is listed as 2PM I called when I made reservations and spoke with Paula and asked her since we were driving from NY could we check-in early ? Didn't want to drive in my tuxedo. Paula told me room would be ready anytime after 11AM. My wife and I arrived about 11:15 and after we drove around the building, office entrance is not clearly marked. I went to register and was told no rooms were ready, they were full-up last night, I informed the desk clerk of my prior arrangements and suddenly our room was ready, second floor and no ramp or elevator. I had read reviews of cleanliness problems so while I brought our luggage my wife sprayed the room with Lysol. No obvious spiders but thick layer of dust on the telephone in plain view. Lack of power outlets at desk for computer and cellphone also saw a multi-plug adaptor behind refrigerator, microwave, with multiple lights plugged into one outlet. Looked like an electrical overload from a former fire investigators opinion. Bathroom was clean. Didn't get to the breakfast. Sunday AM started loading the car but when we were ready to check-out we waited at the desk and no clerk so we went out to our car only to find the clerk outside smoking. No luggage stand in room so you must either use the bed or floor to access your luggage. I did try to make a local call from my room but call would not go through ? if problem with motel or local telephone system. Nice non-smoking room but smokers outside lobby entrance forcing you to walk through smoke cloud, employees & guests. Motel was quiet, bed comfortable, and tv worked but channel guide would have been nice in stead of needing to surf to find news and weather. I would consider staying here again.
Great Staff, especially the 'breakfast lady'.... we were several families there for a wedding in the area. It was a good place to stay with a nice pool for the grandkids.... : )
THIS LOCATION WAS GREAT WHEN i STAYED THERE 21/2 YEARS AGO BUT NOW THE HOTEL IS FILTHY.DIRTY STICKEY FLOORS, HAIR IN AND ON TUB DRAIN, URINE ON FLOOR AT BACK OF TOILET, SPOTS ALL OVER EVERY CARPET IN ROOMS AND HALLS. THIS HOTEL ACCEPTS DOGS NOW AND IT SHOWS ON THE FILTHY FLOORS EVERYWHERE. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND ON THE $700. PLUS i WASTED ON THIS ROOM. I AM SENDING SEVERAL PICTURES TO LA QUINTA SO THEY SEE WHAT A DISGRACE THIS LOCATION IS TO THEIR NAME.
Staying with pets was painless. Definitely would come back. Room had some stains on walls and cosmetic issues. I'm not sure if it's a designated pet room so they don't care as much but weird stains 6 feet off the ground aren't from pets so I'm not sure.
Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean. Breakfast options were good, waffles were great!
The room was comfortable & the suite was a nice bonus with the additional space. Everything I expected was in the room.
Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Attractively decorated room. Very clean. Nice details, such as bedspread and pillows. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which was kept clean and freshly stocked.
It was extremely quiet and PC availabilty to print out boarding pass no complaints
Comfortable, even though sweet had strange layout. AND I really wish I could've had a fresh baked cookie as advertised but they were out of cookie dough. But that's okay too I didn't even see it until I got there. Free waffles made it better. Ice machine on my floor was broken. Water pressure in the shower was awful. No bacon either day at the breakfast. And there was a terrible snowstorm over the whole weekend that they never plowed the parking lot. It wasn't a huge deal, but it came off like they really didn't care.
The rooms were perfect. A small but fully equipped kitchen (apt. size refrigerator, ceramic plates, real drinking glasses, stainless silverware, a few pans, dishwasher, 2 burner electric stove, microwave). Nice seating area with sofa (also pull out bed, but we didn't use) and chair, as well as a desk and chair, and ottoman w/ 2 side table. Plenty of lights throughout, ceiling and lamps. Bed comfy. Quiet place. Nice breakfast, and nice area to sit outside and eat (weather permitting). Good location. Convenient. MAID SERVICE AWFUL/Non-existent. We are neat people, we do not trash our rooms. Here's our experience: Day 1: We left a $5 tip for maid. We were gone all day, came back around 10 pm, when we entered the "bedroom" we noticed the pillows were in disarray, we shrugged off. But the bed had not been properly made. When we drew the coverlet down, we saw all the sheets were wrinkled and not smoothed out, they were just pushed around and it looked like we had just gotten out of bed and the maid simply pulled the coverlet over top to "make the bed". The dirty towels were removed, garbage was emptied, new towels in place. We let it pass. Not wanting to make waves. Day 2: No tip! We made our own bed (You're welcome). We were gone all day until about 11 pm. Before leaving in a.m. we left dirty towels on floor near bathroom sink, all together to make it easy for cleaning. All is well, had clean towels and trash had been emptied. We're happy. Day 3: No tip! We made our own bed, but left the coverlet off the bed to see if the maid would fix. We left dirty towels on bathroom floor as we had day before. Had some dirty trash from some takeout. We arrive back at our room about 9:30 p.m. IT HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED! WHAT?! Dirty towels still on bathroom floor. Trash in living/kitchen area still full. Trash in bathroom still not emptied. Coverlet in same position as when we left. We went to front desk. NICELY reported this. Desk clerk said it was her "third" complaint about the maid service that night. She said she would have her manager credit us one night, but could not provide any written documentation to verify. Desk clerk was nice, but I'm skeptical about getting the credit. There are several other extended stay hotels in the area, so not knowing your room is going to be cleaned, or even if it was cleaned PRIOR to our arrival is a HUGE problem for us. Also, on Day 3, when we arrived around 9:30 pm (on a Sunday night) we parked on side towards back, to the entrance nearest our room. There was a large group of people outside standing around a car and they were smoking marijuana (you could smell it). That did not make us feel safe.
Enjoyed a multi-day stay in this charming, friendly and well-situated inn. My 83 yr old mother and I received excellent service from a server who remembered our breakfast order each morning and gave us tips on area attractions. Front desk staff was unfailingly friendly. The lovely front porch, breakfast area, bar, rear veranda, party room and pool areas are attractive and welcoming. There is a pleasant park within walking distance. The inn hosted a wedding during our stay, and is well suited to events. Our room wasn't stellar, but was clean and overall acceptable (and had good coffee for the in-room coffeemaker, which doesn't always happen). In this era of corporate chains, I was glad to patronize an alternative with history and character. Owners are making a number of upgrades, so I look forward to a future stay to see the progress. The inn is being remodeled so some people might find it a bit off-putting to have an older room or not have use of the lounge. Not a big deal for me. I get tired of the corporate chains. As to the reviewer who complained about the service staff, we observed staff being stretched a little thin during the busy Sunday brunch time, but a bit of patience and walking over to a server to ask for assistance worked wonders. The dining area doesn't have a check in station, so the servers have to multi-task, watching the door and serving customers.
Couldn't beat it for the price. Clean and comfortable. It felt like home.
Good location in the middle of Aurora. Dank musty room. Construction in progress. Had bottom level room. It felt and smelled like it had been flooded. They had one very small dehumidifier in the hall for the entire floor. They needed a couple in the hallway and one in each room to dry it out. Went to the restaurant for dinner nobody sat us. Walked to the bar to ask if it was self seating. She said seat yourself and somebody will find you. They didn't. Saw staff walking around the far end of the restaurant and know they saw us but nobody came over. After we walked out, I asked the man at the front desk if the restaurant had table service. He said usually to just go sit down and wait. I said that ship had sailed. When I first checked in they said there were no more rooms at the in but it was ok because they booked me a room in a hotel in a nearby town. I said that was unacceptable because my reunion had events scheduled at the hotel that weekend. After a while they came up with a room. That was why I couldn't get a room other than they ground floor. Beds were saggy and pillows were flat. Overall terrible experience.
It was affordable and close to the area I was visiting. The staff was great, and they allow you to cancel a reservation up to 6pm on day of check-in. I didn't cancel, but with changing plans it was comforting to know I could. It was a little noisy outside my room, the location of my room was near offices and I could hear staff and patrons at night. There could be better outlets, or a charging area on the night stand, having more than one item to charge and use was challenging.
We had dead bugs in our room
Public hair on dresser and ice chest...trash under bed...blood stains on covers for bed. I had no way to get out of the reservation after going thru your services....so you guys owe me money and I won't be using the service again.
The location!!! The hotel was a little dated, but very clean
The lady at the front desk was extremely nice. The hotel was very cheap.Close to the racetrack. I was here just to get a few hours sleep in between travels. If I would have been there for any other reason, i would have been extremely disappointed with the hotelThis wasn't in the safest of neighborhoodsa car was blasting loud music in the lot
Low price, fridge & Microwave. Water on the floor by my bed, old TV ,quality of room 2 it needs so attention.
Not much Bed bugs
location the receptionist, the place looks shady to us, the room was filthy dust everywhere yellow stains on bed sheets.
Clean and the staff is friendly and personable. At one point I stayed a few days away from the room with friends. They assumed I had left and gave my room to someone else! They put in another room and kept everything I had from the previous one but this seemed extremely odd.
the desk clerks were very friendly and helpful . I needed extra towels and pillows and they brought them to me in minutes . thank you for the donuts and juice . It was my first time in Ohio . I went to the twin festival and had a blast . I wish they would have breakfast in the morning on Sunday
Proximity to my area of interest in visiting The rooms were dirty and nasty and there was no alarm clock
I was charged twice.
Its location Having a space heater for heat
Absolutely nothing. The room was filthy and smelled like mildew. The type of place that heroin addicts and human traffickers would feel comfortable in.
Very spacious even had a couch Did NOT appreciate an external alarm at 9am sunday morning.
The room was very nice. The town is lovely. It has a lot of potential. Our experience: - Arrived around 10:20 on a Friday night (later than we had expected) - No one at the facility when we arrived - everything locked; no one answered phone (repeated attempts); so we were stuck wandering the perimeter on a could dark winter night in february - We walked around the facility knocking on doors and windows for about 15-20 minutes (it was 20 degrees) - Finally someone happened to drive up (he was there for random maintenance) just as we were about to give up - While the maintenance person went inside to make a call, we waited outside (for about 15 more minutes; recall ~20 degrees) - Finally we were admitted and shown to our room - Turns out the maintenance person was there to work on the water system; so no working shower (since we had been waiting outside in ~20 degree weather for a while it would have been nice to be able to take a warm shower) Next morning: - "MAKE SURE TO STOP BY THE FRONT DESK" on a piece of paper slid under our door; by front desk they mean the cash register of the hair salon - we stopped by -- it was to make sure that they had our credit card on file (even though we had paid electronically beforehand) - we suggested that they let customers know that it is impossible to get in touch with anyone from Solaire after a certain point in the evening (maybe this is posted somewhere, but it certainly wasn't obvious); or maybe someone could be "on call" for customers who have (paid in full) reservations who arrive a little later - the response we got was very defensive: on the order of "it was the receptionist's fault; she was supposed to call you" ok, that's fine, people make mistakes. there seems to a bigger issue with Solaire -- the Inn seems to serve as mostly ignored "add on" to the spa, salon and restaurant. I've worked in the hospitality industry. I don't want this review to sound angry. My wife and i had a really great weekend overall (there's a great cooking school around the corner). We live fairly close and could imagine coming back to the town. its cute. But the Inn just doesn't seem to work as an Inn. If you do give it a try -- maybe make sure to call a few times in advance to make sure they know you're coming and get a sense if they have any interest in customers' actual experience with the Inn.
