I choose this hotel with apprehension due to the low stars, but the cost, vacancy and location made my choice. We were pleasantly surprised to realize it was literally on the boardwalk (with the lawn buffer) and every room has a balcony facing the ocean. It is not the newest or most luxurious hotel, but our room was recently redone and everything seemed new. It was very clean and had the larger mini fridge, microwave and better pillows. The staff were pleasant and they had ample parking. I would recommend this hotel, and be happy to return. We did not use the enclosed pool, but others seemed to be enjoying it I really have no complaints. For improvements I suggest a bathroom exhaust fan, and another nightstand. But hey, we are only visiting - not moving in.
I liked the location. It was one block from the beach and was easy to walk to restaurants and shops. I didn't like the dirty room. Looks like no one cleaned the sheets and no one bothered to clean the floor. Appliances in the room were damaged. The inn had a college feel to it because many other visitors hung outside their rooms smoking weed and getting drunk. They were very loud and you could hear everything from inside our room.
Proximity to Boardwalk Room was filthy. Beer stains on nightstand, bugs crawling around, strands of hair everywhere, looks like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Bathtub was disgusting. For $200 a night it wasn't what I expected.
The room itself was relatively updated and appeared clean, for the most part. I had a beautiful view of the ocean, even though it was not directly oceanfront. It was very conveniently located. The hotel itself looks like an absolute dive, stairways were dark and stairs were literally falling apart, and the elevator was also questionable. It cost WAY too much for what you get, even at peak season. One bed didn't have a top sheet on it and the bedspread looked soiled. It was also VERY NOISY.
NOITHING My friends and I arrived at the Blue Marlin on 6/9/15 at 12:15 AM. There was no one at the front desk and all the lights were off. We rang the bell, knocked on the windows/doors, called the phone and walked around the building. We waited around for 20 minutes and no one came. We went to another hotel and even the person working there called the Blue Marlin office for us and no one picked up. I called the next day requesting my money back and the hostess claimed that I was a no show and kept speaking over me. I asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager. Never been treated this way by someone that I was bringing business to. NEVER booking this place and never ever recommending to anyone.
Only one block from the beach, honored a late check-out, hot water+water pressure great, brought clean towels without having to ask, beds were pretty comfortable, closeness to bars if you're traveling with friends/ spouse, no problems with parking Loud at night
The room was non-smoking but smelled very strongly of cigarettes
Really enjoyed the location. It is centrally located near restaurants, bars, and the beach. Everything is easily accessible. Room smelled like smoke when I walked in.
Location to beach Our room had a moldy stale smell coming from the ac unit. We had to switch rooms. Both the original room had cigarette ash in the dresser and nightstand doors they were both supposed to be non-smoking rooms. Of our 5 night stay we had to have out room keys reprogrammed all but 1 days. The staffed blammed it in them being need cell phones or other cards but we were very carfull with this after rinsing the elevator up to a room we could not get into everyday. On the next to last day of this I was told by one of the rotating front desk staff that they have to program the keys to the number of nights were stay which was not done right the previous 4 times. We choose this hotel because it was pet friendly and had a pool. But they say we chose to stay in and go to the pool the gate was locked with a chain. I asked the front desk staff who didt believe me it was locked untilni had them come out and show them. They said they would need to get a hold of maitence as they did not know what matenance had locked it. Note that bear not pool closed sign. The water randomly lost pressure in the shower. The noise. And other no smoking policies are not inforced. As our hall would stink of weed and we had people yelling loudly yelling in the hallway. A large family had multiple rooms on our floor who left there rooms propted open blaring there tv's and hanging out in the hallways blocking exits at times.
I like the updating rooms I didn't like that we had to check in after 3 PM
Nothing really Everything was cheap. The room smelled. There was cigarette burns on the bedspread. We did request a new room Had to wait until 3pm to get it. The new room was better.
This is my first stay at Motel 6 and so far it has been fairly bad. Upon entering the room we were greeted with a strong aroma of mildew. We had things to do so we switched rooms quickly and the front desk was accommodating, but the new room still smelled of mildew. We needed to do things as we're only in Virginia Beach until Friday night so we kept the mildew smelling room we got as a replacement and figured the rest of the rooms would be of the same quality. We could deal with a slightly smelly room. All was well aside from having a very smelly room but when we got back to the room later that night we learned that beneath the sheets it was wet. Our room not only smelled of mildew but the sheets were damp and gross. I'm literally writing this as my girlfriend is sleeping on the single chair and I am trying to sleep above the sheets on the bed because it is so damp. This is horrible and completely ruined our two day mini vacation. Also, I understand that this is a discount beach Motel, but is it too much to ask for a bed that isn't already infested with sand? Not only is the bed damp but it is also sandy Wet and sandy bed
The place was much bigger than I expected. It was the best priced room I could find near the beach and it had a full living room with 4 person dining table, full kitchen, 2 futons, 2 queen beds and 2 bathrooms. Nice size. They had plastic on all the mattresses as well as the pillows under the sheets. It got greatly deducted because of that. I felt like I was sleeping on plastic. Terrible.
The hotel room was spacious and clean. I didn't feel safe and the parking spaces were tight and ridiculous.
The motel is only a few blocks away from the beach. So we were able to leave our car parked, and didn't have to pay for additional parking. This motel is completely outdated. The rooms smell like mildew and stench air. We had to buy wash clothes, cleaning supplies, and disinfectant to spray on bedding. There is onlt one old model TV in the room, and the sofa bed mattress for old and thin.
Was pleased and shocked with the size of our room. So much space. Everything was clean and the staff was nice. Perfect location from the beach and attractions. Wifi was really slow and could barely connect to. Our remote for our TV was broke, but small stuff in the scheme of things.
size of the room....location was great....staff was friendly and helpful.....exactly what we needed. think someone was arrested directly outside of our room one evening around 0130 am...does not sould like the person resisted and police officers sounded friendly.
Location Dirty, lots of rooms visited by police all weekend.
Was to be a king suite and it was a double full suite, smelled like cigarettes even though it was to be a non smoking room, bathtub was cracked, lighting fixture in bathroom was damaged and sparked when turned on, door broken at bottom and did not lock
The location was easy to get to and very close to oceanfront and the Convention Center. Pool was beautiful. Staff was very nice. Did not see any bugs even though dirty. You walk in and the switch cover is broken half off. All the chairs were terribly stained. The couch bed had stains all over the matress. Stove top grease burned on. None of the outlets worked correctly. TV 19' big TV. Bathroom dirty. No coffee maker.
King bed was a california king, kitchenette was well kept and fully functioning other than the over Some mold/mildew in the room, some of our pillow cases and bed sheets had stains on them when we first arrived, oven was inoperable
Dirty rooms (they were cleaned, but had an overall grimy feel) I would stay there again. Bring dishes, because the kitchen has appliances, but no utensils, etc. Pretty good deal all considered.
They had a pool Breakfast choices wearn't so good, kids running around screaming at 9 something. The place had an awful smell in the lobby and dinning area.
The beds was horrible. Advertise HBO and did not get it.
The price Some people played music and BBQ'ed next to the pool until late at night. Although the staff did manage to stop them eventually
I liked that the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help you out.
i like the comfort and the fact that it was near the beach. the manager was not cooperative in helping us resolve issues we had during our stay. and we found dirty clothes, beer bottle tops, and dirty cups in the room. this made me wonder just how clean the room actually was.
Notting.. I never recommend to any one...Comforters and beds are very dirty..Full of bed bugs.. Bathrooms also not clean.. Comforters and beds are very dirty..Full of bed bugs.. Bathrooms also not clean..
nothing the breakfast was a joke. the location is horrible. the room was dirty. i definitely would not stay there or at any motel by this name again.
Location was convenient convenience of getting to second floor rooms..
location nonsmokibg rooms smeled bad and saturated with the smoke.
Room layout, had sitting area with loveseat & tv, with a small kitchen area that included a sink, refrigerator, microwave, & 4 cup coffee maker....then the sleeping area w/tv. It looks run down & dingy from the outside. The staff was unorganized & not professional at all. I was charged an additional $2 by the first person helping me at check in, then that person had to take a phone call, so a second person stepped in to complete the process. They had no idea what the $2 charge was for. Our first room assigned was a mess, uncleaned, & looked like someone was living there. Our second room was good. The following morning a fight breaks out in the parking lot & we listened to someone screaming & yelling for 1/2 hour. Not good.
No extra pillows available and the pillows in the room are very small and flat.
Nice Bathroom Beds were more comfortable than I expected mini-fridge was helpful Keyless Entry was helpful when arms were loaded with stuff The check-in guy was pleasant I didn't see any live roaches Wafflehouse, Starbucks, and McD's within walking distance Dead roach on the Air Conditioner We were given 2 towels for a family of 4. AC quit working on the second night. Had to climb 2 flights of stairs outside, carrying enough stuff for 4 people for a long weekend, to reach our room with 2 tired, hot, cranky kids. When we called and asked for more towels, we were told to come down to the lobby to pick them up. They didn't have anyone to deliver them. I'm fairly certain there was a hooker in the room 2 door down from us. Kind of a sketchy neighborhood. Took about 25 minutes driving to reach the beach. Toilet flushed so hard, I was sure it was going to suck me into another dimension.
They had piles of discarded furniture outside, perhaps because of a recent bed bug issue or similar. The staff was worthless and had no control over the facility. There was a couple screaming at each other off and on outside in the middle of the night and the desk would not even engage the police. One of the worst places I have ever stayed.
They had three airplane pillows on a king bed. The pillows in the room were extremely small. I asked the fronk desk person for some extra pillows and they brought me one pillow that was slightly bigger than the rest. I had to go to Walmart to buy two pillows just so we could sleep comfortably.
