Convenient stopover location en route to Zermatt. Good breakfast and clean, basic rooms.
Good, central, quiet location
Everything was neat and clean and modern. The private parking worked well and it is well placed in Visp.
The staff were friendly and helpful. It was nice to have space in the bedroom and a balcony. It was an excellent location. The extra touches were really nice - ie a basket of apples by the elevator. The bathroom was very compact!
Very close to train station. Nice rooms. Good breakfast. There was no shutter on one of the windows. The street lights were really bright and shined through so it was really hard to sleep.
Easy access, comfortable, nice design features, good breakfast. The electrical outlet and above bed lighting were broken. We ran out of toilet paper and tissue on the second day.
Offered an early breakfast if we required it No restaurant for dinner
goof value; very clean; little "extras" (e.g. free fruit)
The friendly staffs and the modern facilities and clean room
This hotel is close to the train station and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The receptionist was multi-lingual and spoke excellent English There was nothing I didliked about this hotel. It was extremely convenient to the central trail station as well as to the downtown shopping area. It has a really fine restaurant.
Central location, excellent a la carte menu
It was close to the railway station. It was clean and comfortable, and quite typical for an older hotel. We only spent one night so it was adequate for our needs. Smell of smoke.
The new lift! Friendly staff remembered me from previous visit. Very clean and comfortable room. I just like this hotel - it's a nice place to stay and I would recommend it. As others have remarked, there is some updrift of a stale smoke smell from public areas. Switzerland in general could use a smoking ban in public places.
The staff was very warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a short distance from the train station - a hub for many alpine rail adventures. The buffet breakfast provides a good variety of choices for both the vegetarian and carnivore. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The decor reminded me of home.
The room facilities were excellent, comfortable, super bathroom, great view, spacious. Hotel easy walk to station, shops, restaurants. Breakfast included. Good for short stay on way through Switzerland. Reception not very helpful on arrival, manned only limited hours. Restaurant closed for renovations but still advertised in room. No alternatives suggested. Wifi not free,
This was our best stay in Europe. Very close to train station, though very quiet. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast and dinner!
Reception staff friendly and helpful, restaurant staff and food very good.
We chose the hotel for its convenience to the railway station and this was good. Break fast was adequate. Our bedroom was dark and dingy and, frankly, rather depressing, with spartan furniture.
central location very basic rooms
Desk staff was helpful and the location was convenient to the train station. No air conditioning required windows to be kept open which creates considerable noise.
Close to the station, clean, helpful staff, quiet, very recommended, excellendy wireless internet
Good greeting, nice meal and staff very helpful. Location outstanding - Zermatt and lots of walks.
Free wifi proximity to the station the staff were nice
clean and peaceful. good surroundings, garden, spring and free parking lots close by.
quiet and clean very comfortable No, but I di not realise it was a religious community from the web site information
Lovely location at the higher end of the lovely town of Visp. Lots of parking space. Run by nuns; they made us feel at home. Lots of cherry and pear trees; kids enjoyed picking cherries and the nuns helped us with it. Very quiet corner of the town. Perfect for family with kids. There is even a Llama enclosure near the parking. A bit of a walk if arriving by train, luckily we had our own car. No WiFi or TV in the rooms. The bathroom and toilets were shared. This could have been a problem, but luckily we were the only ones on our floor.
We found this to be very clean simple accommodation. A no frills approach and good value for money.
It was simple and excellent. The price is so reasonable and the standards so high. Would definitely recommend to others
Hotel for a 1-2 night stays. No TV, no extras, managed by religious. Too expensive for the comfort they offer.
The front desk had better improve English-speaking capability. ^_^
Clean; simple but nice breakfast. Although the hotel information on booking.com says that rooms are en suite, we were given a family room with shared bathrooms/toilets at the end of the corridor. Not sure if any of the rooms are actually en suite. We did not find any information about this in the visitors' reviews either. Luckily we were the only guests on that floor - otherwise it would have been a problem.
It is an old hospital run by nuns. The cleanliness was great and the breakfast was OK. But, it still felt like a hospital. We could only manage one night and canceled the rest of our stay. No atmosphere. If your dream vacation is to stay in a hospital then stay here. It would be a good place to stay at half the price.
Cleanness of the room, silent surroundings, quite a spectacular mountain view from the windows. The hotel is runned by the church. It provides some spirit about the place. But it also makes hotel not well suitable for the night-life-fans. No TV in the rooms. Breakfast is good, but it seems food selection follows religious regulations (no meat during the fast time).
This hotel was fantastic. We really enjoyed the great views and wonderful location. Breakfast was simple and very well prepared. The town of Brig itself is full of hotels but we really felt that we made the right choice staying here. Only downside was that we asked for a double room and had two single beds pushed together. This is frustrating but didnt detract from a wonderful hotel experience all round. Hats off to the owners for also providing great internet and library lounge facilities. Excellent!
Price, free wireless internet access & proximity to downtown
A straightforward hotel offering all that was necessary for a short stay in a town where most people will be briefly passing through.
Great location in front of the castle, very friendly and polite staff, good breakfast, clean room and good hotel facilities
Very friendly service. Clean and big confortable room. Nice view on the castle and its park. From there, it is easy to walk (3min) to the center of Brig.
The view of the castle from the hotel was perfect. Family room was a strange layout with shower opening directly into the hallway. Didn't like the polyester duvet covers or the stray hairs in the bed. Bunk beds were good for the children but there was no safety barrier on the top bunk and the head space on the bottom bunk was better suited to a young child - our 7 yr old couldn't have sat up in the lower bed.
Proximity to station Namesake breakfast and internal facilities also not adequate to qualify for a three star
Clean and quiet - that's the most important
Pleasant and friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, good breakfast in nice surroundings, convenient for town and rail station
The reception staff was very helpful spoke good English. Room was nice and big breakfast. Enjoyed our 2 nights stay at Europe Hotel Love everybit of the hotel
Stayed there before, so owner remembered me, will be going back again soon. Good hotel excellent location, friendly staff highly recommended. No
Proximity to rail station noise
Most informative reception (English speaking). Location 20mins walk from centre of town/station(ost) but not a problem. lovely dining facilities. Possibly 'location not being central, but for the price, this is hardly a problem. Those with mobility issues need to know this, however.
We liked everything as Location (in front of the Train station), Free WiFi, good staff, the room size, good breakfast. We really reccomend this hotel. We have stayed here twice. nothing.
The location of this hotel could not be better - immediately outside Brig train station. My room was at the back so I was not disturbed by train movements or announcements. I suspect front facing rooms may have more of a problem. A very acceptable hotel for a short stay in the area.
Must be one of the best views in Switzerland to wake up to at 1400m above sea level and about 700m above Visp. Very attentive owner made us very welcome.
The staff here were wonderful and so hospitable. They gave us many great locations in the area to check-out; Zermatt town and the Matterhorn, Beurgerbad @ Leukenbad thermal baths, spa and wellness centre (awesome slides for family fun!!!). We were only going to stay for 1 night and ended up staying for 3! We would definitely stay here again :) They do not provide soap and shampoo. This was the only negative.
Location and the view to the mountains and valley from the room with balcony was amaizing. Breakfast was also very good. Possibility to park a car. Free Internet. Staff very friendly.
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. All rooms have an excellent view and are comfortable and clean. We got the impression from booking.com that the pension had a restaurant. This is not the case - a fact which guests might need to know in advance.
Herr Zimmerman, the owner, is a very dedicated person and helpful in giving good directions about what to see and do in the area. The room walls, bed support and floors were all knotty pine and beautiful with a sense of authenticity. The room had a balcony that looked down on the Visp valley and the mountains beyond. The Pension kastel is in the small village of Zennegen, 1400 meters above sea level. Quiet and lovely area. The breakfast provided was really good with good variety and balance between protein and carbohydrates.
Hospitalilty was outstanding
The pool is great; the staff are helpful, the location is amazing and the restaurant by the hotel served the best meal we have ever had at a Swiss restaurant.
Access to pool and wellness centre is very good option - rooms are quite large - people are very helpful and friendly - a quite environment - guided tours offered which are well worth doing The hotel is fairly sober and spartan - the bathroom is quite small and the bathtub is very narrow making it somewhat of a challenge to take a shower in particular as the shower head keeps on sliding down the holder and it is impossible to fix - there is breakfast buffet which is very good but dinner needs to be done at the very good food and value for money Tavern 50 m opposite hotel or walking steeply down and up to village of Morel
I liked the polite & nice staff, the spa
The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great for hiking the various trails and was a short but steep walk to the train station. Also had a spa that was large and warm. A very good place to return to after a day of hiking.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - beautiful little town, near the railway station of Morel, would go back
Nice Hotel, nice surroundings, beautiful area for hiking, etc.
Huge comfortable rooms with a lounge and kitchen we didn't expect! The food in the restaurant was superb and very well presented with great service. As we don't speak any german it would have been a good idea to have the menu translated into english (reception staff spoke english very well!), or even into french. It was pretty much guesswork what we were ordering (though as already said was excellent food!).
Friendly & Helpful staff -- Great accomodations
Staff were very helpful and the hotel is very close to station but not noisy
Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. Our room on the second floor had views of the mountains. The room was large and well kept. The bathroom had a bidet. The buffet breakfast was great. This hotel also has a lift. We enjoyed a nice evening meal in the restuarant. The hotel is opposite the main railway station but we didnt hear any noise and enjoyed a good nights sleep.
We stayed at this hotel a number of times. Noticed that the rooms have been upgraded. The station is across the road from the hotel. Bathrooms could be upgraded.
The family maintain a friendly, wonderful hotel in an enjoyable city
Close to centre of town. This hotel is fairly average/basic. Only just rates three stars. One night was enough for us.
Nice friendly hotel right by Brig railway station and town centre. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent
location, bar/restaurant lack of lounge area apart from the bar which could be very smokey
The hotel was very close to train station . All the staff were very plesent. The room and bathroom were of good size .The view of the mountains was lovely to wake up to. The bathroom was a bit dated but of very good size .
Location of the hotel. Spacious room. Lack of a nice lounge.
Cleanliness, location, friendly staff Not really 3-star in my experience of this level of hotel. Maybe the definition is different in Switzerland. I'd say 2-star but overpriced for that level of hotel.
very comfortable and warm room , the breakfast is sooo good, the ower is quite friendly and talktive basically nothing dislike, only the sheets and the cover are a little old. maybe they can change the new one
Left the wrong key for me and I wasnt able to get hold of anyone to correct this.
It's easy to find from Brig railway station, walk about 10 minutes. Too simple and crude furniture in the room, indeed no garbage bin.
Very little. The menu was not what we would have expected at a hotel, e.g. beefburgers. No choice at breakfast.
It was perfect, clean, confortable and the staff was very professional, polite and kind
The owner--he took us under his wing and even prepared breakfast for us and took us to the train terminal. no--there was nothing we did not like.
The hotel staff made our stay very pleasant. Good breakfast. Near to Zermatt to enjoy Matterhorn views.
Very nice family hotel, great country-side location, pool with mountains view, nice breakfast.
The hospitality, swimming pool and excellend food
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone as it is one of the best in Switzerland. It was very relaxing and the food was just brilliant. The staff are also very friendly and nice and always check on you if you're doing well. It is highly recommended for anyone. Everything was perfect.
Service, local food and wine
It was very clean Yes, weather was too warm and hotel didnt had fan for the customers. Hotel is on the road side and you can not open windows in nights. couldnt sleep on both the nights.
We stayed at the hotel a warm summer night, and we did not find the room airconditioner.
friendly and helpful staff. no swimming pool.
It's not a 4 stars hotel,maybe 3 stars;half of this hotel it's a block of flats.No refrigerators,no bathrobes,no slippers,the TV too small,the food not too good.
the cleanness of the room they are located far from the trainstation and far from the ski area - I would have expected better transport service from a 4 -star hotel because there was none - it had to be taxi or bus which either is expensive or takes a while
Central Location. Clean, comfortable room Reception on evening of arrival not easy to find and staff not over friendly
Excellent eve meal Poor breakfast even for continent
friendly staff, warm cosy rooms , access too brilliant rail system. cleanliness & food good, plenty of hot water.
Our hosts were very helpful and friendly and fortunately spoke some English - we knew little German! Our room was traditional, clean and comfortable. The hotel is well situated in Brig, which was rather quiet at this time of year.
Good location, a short walk from the train. Nice town surrounded by Alps.
location was good and restaurant/hotel staff were friendly Fastnacht Festival!! Would like to have known it was on - a beer and DJ tent set up right outside our window - played until 0300hrs apparently - we didn't know for sure - it was so unbearable that we moved to a different hotel for the night (Ambassador in Brig)!
The room was pleasant and the hotel stuff polite and helpful. They can improve on the breakfast, it was rather poor.
