Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Stick-On. The room was big, very clean and the shower is great. Breakfast options was very good. The owners are very kind and helpful, spoke great English. They gave us very useful advice on how to visit Taroko National Park, Qingshui Cliff, helped us with the motorbike and train booking. Very friendly and cozy place, just like you are staying at your friend’s home.

Pros: The owners helping with every small detail. Amazing! Best choice if you want to go to Taroko National Park.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our host Vivi was the most nicest host we've ever met! She made us delicious breakfast every morning, which was always something typically Taiwanese and everyday something different. Since we didn't rent a car or a scooter, she even drove us to the good restaurants and picked us up again. We also got bicycles from her to drive to a mountain river to go swimming. She recommended it to us and it was wonderful! Yeah we would definitely recommend this place!
Cons: Even though the location next to the highway is not perfect for travelers without car/scooter. But you can still walk or take the bicycle!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quiet B&B several minutes drive from Taroko NP. The rooms were very unique eco/Japanese style with very comfortable mattresses and a private patio for each room. The bathroom was perfect, utilities available as well as fresh drinking water. The owner she was absolutely wonderful; explained all the possible hikes, did our laundry for free and prepared fresh tailored breakfast. Those who did not have a car she brought to the Taroko NP HQ herself. Super friendly! The B&B is an easy 10 minutes drive from town for restaurants and grocery stores.
Cons: Nothing. The accommodation and the stay were absolutely perfect.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Sophia is a wonderful host and gives detailed advice how to visit the Taroko valley in the best order and way; furthermore her recommendation for the restaurant in town is very good...all in all a very pleasant stay
Cons: Just a small thing: a sign at the entrance of the B&B would make it a bit easier to find it

The accommodation was so lovely and very romantic, set in the hills a few minutes drive from the various walking paths. It was the perfect stay and recommend the Mountain Dream B&B, because it was a dream being there.
Cons: Only having two nights there

10.0 Excellent
Pros: very nice breakfast good location very very friendly and helpful and mindful owner family great dinner spacious room help with free transfer between sea and train/bus station
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Exceptionally friendly, helpful and accommodating people, from picking me up at the train station, to feeding me delicious home-cooked food (Vietnamese themed} , to dropping me off at a significantly further train station at a much reduced cost. The son did an admirable job of language translating as well so well done to him too.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and comfortable room. Shared living room available + washing machine
Cons: Communication difficult as the tenant doesn't speak english
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the staff. The tasty breakfast and the location
Cons: We liked everything. If we have to mention one small thing that would be that there is no little desk were you could sit and read or write something.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and new, excelent stay
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming owners! They gave us hard helmets and a flash light for Taroko, drove us to the bus stop and the train station, and took us to qingshui cliff. Although the owners speak some English, it was great that their son could translate for us a couple of times. Excellent home made breakfast. Big room with comfortable beds and pillows.
Cons: The property is about 20 minutes walking from xincheng train station/bus stop. The shortest route is through a quiet, uninhabited looking area. This wasn't such a problem for us though, as the owner drove us to the bus stop frequently.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, that is the best review we can write. Even if the hosts don't speak much English, it is easy to communicate with them and their son helps, of course. The hosts are really kind, friendly and worry about their guests. We were given a lift from and to Xincheng station, to Taroko Park visitor's centre, were driven to a supermarket to buy something for our dinner and were allowed to heat it in the guesthouse kitchen. They even lent us a helmet for our routes in Taroko. They are absollutely great. The room was big, clean and quiet with a good-sized bathroom en suite and an enormous shower. There is a small fridge in the hallway where you can store some food and drink and they provide water for free. It is located in Xincheng, the closest village to visit the Taroko Gorge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality. Owner will use Google Translate to answer your questions. Pickup for Xingcheng train station upon arrival is very helpful and complimentary. He will help you with the Taroko hiking permits for the beautiful Old Zhuilu Road trail (need to apply one month in advance if possible, rigorous 6 hour round-trip hike). Very clean basic rooms and nice shower in suite. Common area has a free washer, and hang out to dry in your lanai. Bus stop is around the corner for Taroko. Nice but simple village with easy walk to the ocean (swimming not allowed). Good value!

7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was very nice it’s self. There was just nothing else around the hotel, therefore one night is all I would recommend. We ate dinner at the hotel one night ad it was good, nothing exceptional.
Cons: It would have been nice to be near some other places to walk around like cafés, street food, night market or restaurants
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The room was so nice. Comfortable bed. You cannot miss the spectacular view from the room. Staff was super nice helpful and speak English Breakfast was very good.
Cons: Location is quite far from train station. Recommend getting here by taxi
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Service was pleasant and helpful, great breakfast, close to the park
Cons: The hotel is very close to the train station and to the taroko park's entrance, however, the town is a ghost town, with nothing much to do around during the evening...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean, spacious and airy. We had lunch when we arrived, the foods were delicious. The staffs were very supportive when I was organizing our trip to the Taroko, and the great service continued after our arrival. I used to use the Silks Place Hotel in side the park, now I think I will switch to Liiko Hotel. Although it does not have swimming pool or spa, but it’s a very comfortable hotel, and a very good value for the money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and shuttle service to train station. It’s a well designed hotel that everything works perfectly. Food in restaurant is unexpectedly exquisite. Easy to take #302 bus sightseeing Taroko National Park. Everyone here is warm and helpful.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, spacious and very comfortable room. Helpful staff. Good food in the restaurant.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location to go to Taroko park.
Crossing The Rainbow Bridge B&B - Xincheng - Building
5
9.4 Excellent (295 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Crossing The Rainbow Bridge B&B in Xiulin, you'll be a 5-minute drive from Taroko Gorge and 5 minutes from Taroko National Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Closeness to Taroko National Park; bikes available for guest use free of charge; beautiful, spacious, comfortable rooms; complimentary bottled water, tea/coffee, fruit and biscuits; friendly and helpful staff, especially Teyra the host, who is very caring and knowledgeable about the traditions of the Truku indigenous people; complimentary pickup and dropoff at Xincheng Train Station
Cons: Breakfast was good but could have had more variety and options; lunch and dinner options nearby require a short trip across the bridge, but this is not a big problem because bikes and taxis are easily available.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Warm hostess. Very comfortable room with beautiful garden, big balcony and hot tub outside the room.
Cons: Although the Breakfast is really healthy, but it's too light to taste. The service staff for Breakfast need more hospitality.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: Few western breakfast options
8.0 Excellent
Pros: 1. Cats. They have cats. Cute friendly cats. 2. Dogs. They have cute friendly dogs. One with 3 legs. 3. Plants. They have a really nice yard with cool trees and plants. 4. Location. It is directly on the road heading into the park if you are coming from the north on the 9. Yet there was nearly no road traffic noise. Some people might want to stay in Hualien city where the action is, but we had a car so if wanted we could get there. For getting in and out of the park this was a great location. 5. Friendly owner. He sang us a welcome song in his native language. That kind of thing makes me uncomfortable, but that's my problem not his. Nice guy. 6. Breakfast was good. Not amazing. But good. Lots of veggies.
Cons: Not really a problem, but if you have the room facing the entry way then you will want to draw your curtain, missing a nice view of the yard, because otherwise everyone will look up at you as they walk in. The moment i opened it in the morning there was a face or 2 looking up at me. Glad I was dressed! But that's hardly an issue. More funny. The owner was not there as much as with other places we've stayed. The other ladies who were helping out were pretty nice but didn't have the same charm as the owner. Also, not a thing to 'dislike' really but still something I thought about. If you want to be able to walk to stuff this is not the place for you. You probably want to be in Hualien city. It was a 30 minute drive from here to the main night market in Hualien city, as an example.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cozy
Cons: Traveling to and from the hotel
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owner and attentive staff Loved the ditty in local language from owner to wish us a safe journey onward
Cons: Cereals and selection of fresh fruit for breakfast would be an improvement
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner is very helpful, extremely clean rooms, hot tub on the patio and excellent breakfast. We did not have a car which was a little tricky as the bus stop is a 20min walk away. There are bikes to borrow which is a great offer, but we had 2 small kids. So we relied on taxis which was fine. Flag fall for taxis is $100twd. For accessing the park it was perfect. We were deep in the gorge both days well before the onslaught of tour buses. Would definitely return!
1.0 Poor
Pros: The owner was so kind and his wife baked for me the tasty bread that i ever eat
Cons: Check in was long

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is very stylish and well decorated. The location is great for the beach / bus to Taroko Park. I enjoyed my stay!
Cons: Nothing really! It would have been nice to see the owners a bit more.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very beautiful decor, only minutes from the beach, on which you are-as ever so often in Taiwan-not allowed to swim. Staff was very friendly yet a little hard to get a hold off at times. Very mucb recommended for a relaxing time at the beach!
Cons: Presence of staff, especially assisting bus schedules e.g., since it is not very centrally located
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to the beach. Complimentary bicycle. Boutique decor. Excellent coffee shop next door. Cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff and fellow traveler.
Cons: Bus station is not so close to property. Not too many restaurant options so wish that the hostel would offer dinner service option even if it's not free.
Xincheng Old Street B&B - Xincheng - Building

9.3 Excellent (434 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Xincheng Old Street B&B is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Hualien. For those who require internet access, the property features Free Wi-Fi in designated areas. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really nice. They handed the map to us and we really enjoyed our stay with them. The room was clean and had the hairdryer. The breakfast is good and well organized. Overall we recommend the stay !
Cons: We stayed at the 3rd floor, which basically has just a small hole for a window. We had a huge noise from an aircon from outside and it was impossible to sleep without earplugs. The bathroom is quite small... Also the bed wasn't that comfy, we didn't use the pillows at all cause they were too big and too hard .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked the quiet little town. The streets were quiet and felt safe to walk around. The local restaurants were excellent and staff very friendly. The location is close to Taroko Gorge and the waterfront. They offer great rates for daily scooter hire. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was very big and well kept.
Cons: I don't have anything negative to say about this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful owners, totally recommended
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great, they picked us up from the train station and provided bus timetable and information for our trip to Taroko Park the next day. Room was big and very clean, same for the lobby. They also provide free bikes rent to explore the village and see the beach. There are not many restaurants nearby, but the one they suggested us (in the same street) was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed is clean and soft.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner went above and beyond, not only was he kind enough to pick us up from the airport, he also gave some tips on restaurants the first day (such a shame it was closed the second day of our stay, in the off-season during the week it was quite hard to find a place to eat). Furthermore he advised us to store our luggage at the train station as it was more convenient and even didn't mind dropping us off! Breakfast was fine, quite some choice and the bed was quite comfortable. Would recommend staying here.
Cons: Just a minor detail, it's great that there's a busstop right outside of the B&B, but there's only a couple of buses per day going to Taroko and back. Nothing to blame the B&B for!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very considerate and answered my email messages promptly. Borrowing his bikes for free was a great bonus. The place is right next to the beach and it was a very pleasant surprise that wasn't included in our itinerary. He also picked us up from the station at a very late time and brought us over to the station when we checked out!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really helpful owners, easy to find, tasty breakfast and great location. The rooms were very clean and new, with all the necessities and fully furbished. Totally recommend!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was with both garden view and mountain view. We enjoyed our evening tea on our balcony overlooking the garden. You can hear the sea. Spacious room with good bathroom. The owner drove us to & from the station every time, even stopped for us at the 7/11 store. She is a friendly person. Though all our communication was using translate app, she was kind and listening. We wish we could talk to her more about the place and the culture. She made breakfast for us on both days. It was more Western than local so a suggestion is to make it more local. Nevertheless the spread was excellent and tasty. The breakfast area has been tastefully decorated with art pieces and with the light music in the background, the breakfast was beautiful there. Thank you.
Cons: 3.7km from Xincheng station but the owner picked us up. Breakfast could be more local spread than Western.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our favourite place we stayed in our 2 week trip in Taiwan :) The hosts are an old retired couple and both of them are so friendly and helpful. We arrived from train and called them and they came and picked us up in the shuttle bus. They also drove us out to different restaurants both nights we stayed and picked us up after our day trekking around the gorge. The home itself has breathtaking views of the mountains as well as their small farm they tend to. We stayed in the family room with 3 mattresses on the floor which was very spacious and comfortable. The primary reason this was our favourite place was the hospitality of the owners, taking their time to sit with us each day and night to talk (mostly via google translate) as well as providing us with a hearty delicious breakfast both mornings and fruit they grow on their farm every evening. We also tried their home made baiju which was very strong !! One morning they made us their own mulberry milk which was probably the most delicious thing I drank on the whole trip :) Highly recommend to stay here with this lovely older couple!!!
Cons: The only thing we didn't like had nothing to do with the property as they drove us around all the places we needed to go. After our day in the gorge we decided to walk back to the property to save them the trouble of picking us up. It's an easy walk however there are lots of stray and aggressive / territorial dogs in the area we had to be careful passing. It seemed lots more of them were out at night too so best to be driven around and take care :)

Pros: Me and my friend had an amazing stay at YU’s Homestay. The owners were very welcoming and helpful - they picked us up from the station, were giving us rides to the Taroko park. We had dragon fruits directly from their garden - so delicious! We were also welcomed in the evening with home made millet and plum wine - we even bought a bottle of the millet one
