Cons: "Baggage allowance is lower than most other airlines"
Cons: "It was great. . .We thought a 16 hr flight would be gruling, but it was not at all!! Comfortable seats with plenty of room and lots of bathrooms. The flight attendants were awesome"
Pros: "Hasn’t occurred yet"
Cons: "Hasn’t occurred yet"
Pros: "Great entertainment"
Cons: "Overall great"
Cons: "I couldn’t get the seat to recline."
Pros: "The crew was fantastic. They were incredibly polite and accommodating. This was my first time flying for more than three hours (15 hours from Houston to Auckland) and it really could not have gone much better."
Cons: "Always need a little more legroom in economy but it's a small sacrifice for getting an affordable flight."
Pros: "The plane was very comfortable, food was excellent and everything in worked well. Crew was very helpful and got you anything you needed."
Pros: "Crew good, seat pretty comfortable"
Cons: "Seating choice was unavailable and we were stuck with two middle seats in a row of 4 across. Air NZ tried to bribe us into staying overnight and taking a one stop itinerary the next day."
Cons: "Suuuppppeerrrr delayed and I didn’t feel that an empty middle seat to be considered business class on my2nd leg from London to Munich."
Pros: "Outstanding crew -- attentive but not overbearing. Very pleasant for a 14-hour flight."
Pros: "I liked that there was food available and that they offered complimentary snacks and drinks. Some of the crew members were nice and offered good service. I liked that they offered some type of entertainment and free wifi."
Cons: "I didn't like that some of the crew members were not very nice. I also disliked that some of the crew members drove the food/beverage cart violently through the isles and saw as one of the crew members rammed into another person's leg, to only say "oh sorry" and kept on going. This same crew member missed picking up the trash from an entire row and was throwing trash on the floor. She was more interested in caring for a baby on board (not sure if it was her daughter or family member) than the rest of the passengers. I also didn't like the seats were so close to each other, the person in front of me almost hit my face when he reclined his seat all the way back. There wasn't much room to breath let alone stretch."
Pros: "Pinot noir"
Cons: "No temp control, a little stuffy"
Pros: "The seat next to me was empty so it was much more comfortable than the flight out. Movies were great"
Cons: "The food, economy has no room."
Cons: "They don't greet me only the people in front and behind me. I didn't receive a meal she skipped me i don't know if you have to pay or not but the person on the left of me got one and the person the right got one"
Pros: "I would encourage no one ever book with New Zealand Air again."
Cons: "The rude and self righteous gate agent with horrific breath threatened to call security if I did not leave the boarding line and sit and wait until the flight left."
Pros: "Great flight with wonderful service."
Cons: "Flight was delayed and the informati N at the gate kept changing. Regular announcements that we would board in 10 Minutes. And hen we didn’t and then another announcement of 10 minutes etc Process was confusing. Four different lines with signage that was too low to be seen by anyone except those who were up front. Employees were flustered and having arguments on phone in presence of those boarding. Led to more chaos and uneasiness"
Pros: "Very friendly ticket counter staff and flight crew."
Cons: "Booked flight through Kayak on Virgin Australia, but found out it was a codeshare on Air New Zealand. No where during booking did it show we would be charged for 1 checked bag a piece. Got to the airport and Air New Zealand was going to charge 134 AUD for each checked bag. Fortunately, they recommended going to the Virgin Australia counter to see if they could add a checked bag to our ticket. The nice people at Virgin used an online code to give us a discount so we only paid 25 AUD a bag. Thanks a lot for the heads up Kayak. We will book direct next time to avoid surprises. Also, almost all movies on Air New Zealand were an extra charge, and the only drinks offered for free on a 3 hour flight were coffee, tea, and water - no soft drinks."
Pros: "Everything. A modern comfortable plane. It's embarrassing for airlines from America because they pale in comparison. I would gladly pay $100 more and fly in style IN COACH! Can't wait for the return flight."
Cons: "I am vegetarian so should request veg option meals"
Pros: "Excellent flight, ..."
Pros: "staff was lovely"
Cons: "didn't have a second pillow in business class bed was too flat for me. no other extras given. disappointing"
Pros: "No bags on an international flight?! I had to pay $375 for 3 bags. Last minute changes with a layover, instead of a 3 hr flight it was a 6 hr flight and NO FOOD not even available to purchase.... very confusing very disappointed...."
Pros: "Very friendly and helpful flight attendants"
Pros: "Comfy seats, the flight was basically empty so I got my own row. Very nice flight attendants. Pilot kept us updated on timing and storm movement."
Cons: "Flight was delayed twice, seat hadn’t been swept for garbage from the previous flight (wrappers and used tissues in the seat pocket)."
Pros: "The check-in process was extremely simple and easy. The staff were very friendly and happy to help. They didn't make a huge deal out of small problems, as so many seem to like doing."
Pros: "Friendly, courteous crew"
Cons: "Seat dimensions seem to have shrunk noticeably. Very little leg room"
Pros: "The pilot would tell us as we were flying over different mountains, regions etc, and the flight was not at all crowded, and there is so much more seat space than on any domestic American flight I’ve ever flown!"
Cons: "They charged 60NZD for one small checked bag! And then I misunderstood the policy on lithium batteries and switched my power banks from carry-on to checked bag and they confiscated them. So there goes that."
Pros: "a) My vegetarian meal the I specially requested. b) The customer service on the phone, before my trip in California and the customer service of the flight attendants on the two flights of my trip. c) The blanket and pillow every passenger was offered on the long-haul flight from San Francisco to Auckland. d) The pilot or pilots handled the small amount turbulence we on the plane felt well so I did not feel uneasy at those times."
Cons: "For an economy class series of trips, I have nothing bad to report."
Pros: "The food was very good, the movie selection was great, and the staff were friendly and caring."
Pros: "Great customer service, from boarding to disembarking. Great care for comfort and needs."
Cons: "Selection of video options on the app entertainment systems."
Cons: "Air New Zealand needs to manage double door boarding a little differently - a ticket checker needs to be at the split point - to streams of passengers trying to find their seat in opposite directions just doesn't work."
Pros: "Customer service and Food was excellent!"
Cons: "Got delayed in Queenstown and left the next day, First to Wellington, Auckland, Los Angeles and finally OKC"
Pros: "Service was great, kids were comfortable entertained and I loved the movie selection."
Cons: "Food wasn't good but that is low priority for me"
Pros: "Crew are good, TV shows are included"
Cons: "Charging for movies seems a bit too low cost!"
Pros: "Foot rests, pillows, blankets, nice seats, and they had free in flight entertainment as well as dinner and beverages"
Pros: "Purchased an exit row aisle seat - all the leg room I could ask for. Close to toilets - no odor issues. Good meals. Staff basically courteous (though not unfailingly - occasionally a tad blunt and titchy - a common experience for me on Air NZ)."
Cons: "Air NZ website states exit row seating purchase comes with priority boarding. When I asked about this at the gate counter I was told I would be seated by row number. Seems like this is a common issue with Air NZ - see e.g., skytrax website reviews. The website advertising is inaccurate if not false."
Pros: "These guys are the best!"
Cons: "Flight was too short"
Cons: "Staff was not friendly or attentive."
Pros: "The flight crew was great. They keep teverything movies ng and were polite and happy throughout the flight we will definately fly them again!!"
Pros: "Service and attitude superb"
Cons: "comfort and seats. On the flight back, although crowded, it would have been nice to have the assistance that 3 large guys could have used to find a seat. Spent the entire flight sweating between two large gentlemen. Luckily, they were polite and we all managed."
Pros: "Good Service"
Cons: "I payed $50.00 USD on a seat so I would have a bigger seat. However, when I got into the plane, the lady that was going to be seating next to me asked me if I could change my seat with her husband; which was a regular seat. In order to avoid an awkward 12 hour flight, I agreed to change my bigger seat for a smaller seat. I felt disappointment that Air New Zealand separates parties and leaves room for uncomfortable situations. I really did not know what to do in this scenario, I paid for that seat but was in a way forced to give it a away without any refund in order to avoid 12 hours seating with some stranger's wife."
Pros: "I have not flown international in a long time. It was confortable and entertainment was great. The only thing I did not like is that with New Zealand air one can only check in 1 bag for free. We stayed in NZ for 18 days. The other airlines let you check in 2 bags. For an international flight 2 bags is only fair. Thanks."
Pros: "Agents were helpful once entering the plane. They take the time to greet us, look at our ticket and direct us which row to take. Very helpful."
Cons: "Space is a factor based on the price. It is such a long flight and room for our feet or even a foot stool type would be nice to have."
Pros: "Crew was really helpful and friendly"
Cons: "Directing people from the terminal to the plane. Need a better strategy due to the fact that the steps are so steep, directing to the rear door instead of the front. When it comes to boarding time, we were all directing out but not indicating which door is closer to our seat. An agent needs to coach passengers outside or even when announcing boarding time -- indicate what seats should go towards the back versus the front door."
Pros: "The cabin crew was friendly, helpful and good humored. The in-flight video and audio choices were outstanding. Meals were good but not outstanding."
Cons: "I suppose it is good marketing to make you walk past the amazing seats in business/premier class on your way past "Premium Economy" back to economy class on the Boeing 777 -- but it did make me wish I had a few thousand dollars to throw away on 13 hours of being pampered. Economy seats are pretty narrow. I am of average size and I was often bumping and being bumped by the passenger in the adjacent seat as well as by people walking up and down the aisle."
Pros: "Handsome, kind and efficient crew. Good amount of space in and around my seat. I was not cramped, although I was in the economy section. The plane interior was indeed nice. Power outlets (both USB and 110V DC) in my seat (I assume then, every seat had that). I fly few times a year between the West Coast and Europe and my overall flight experience on this flight I think was the best one I've seen in years. Food, quality and selection was good. Nice wines in economy. Sufficient number of clean, sufficiently roomy and well stocked toilets. The fare rate I was able to get was outstanding and contributed to the overall satisfaction. Even my neighbor, in the seat next to me was very polite, quiet and pleasure to travel with (though here New Zealand Air perhaps had less of an influence)."
