Never thought I’d be able to say this, but the 14 hour flight with two young children in economy was a really enjoyable experience with JAL!"

Pros: "Was fed a meal and snacks/drinks for this connecting 3 hour flight in economy. Hard to sleep in the economy seats, But with a blanket and thick clothes it would be better! Japan Airlines crew extremely nice!"

Cons: "What did you dislike? I purchased our tickets back in November selecting which seats we wanted. When we arrived February 16th they stated we were "standby" after a debated discussion they found us some seats at the very back of the plane (not our selected seats). On our flight back they had us, my husband and I seating in separate sections on the plane (again not our selected seats) 6 rows away from each other. I will NOT recommend using Kayak in the future. Cons: "Checking in with Japan Airlines was a serious hassle. I had my e-ticket but they kept asking me if I had already paid. The flight was apparently overbooked but than at the last minute, they gave me and my girlfriend seats separated from each other. I sat in the back, she sat in front. The tickets also had trouble scanning and kayak isn't a known agency."

Pros: "Seats are extremely comfortable even in economy. Service was attentive and very gracious. Both meals were above average for airline food. Made a 12 hour flight seem much shorter!"

Cons: "I laughed at the Brace For Impact illustration on the safety card. It was not possible for me to double over with my arms under my thighs. The seat ahead was too close. The headphones produced tinny sound, and the two-pronged plug precluded using my own."

Pros: "The cabin crew was professional, friendly and courteous. It's always refreshing to fly an Asian airline for the impeccable customer service. The 787 left me with minimal jet lag. The odd shaped pillows provided great back support."

Pros: "I like the food they served during the flight. It very well-thought meal and delicious at the same time. I also like the latest movies on board. We also arrived 20 minutes early! It was absolutely smooth and relaxing flight."

Pros: "I liked that the seats were a 2-4-2 configuration. Most American carriers will have a 3-5-3 seating configuration. JAL has won some prestigious seat awards in 2015 for innovation and comfort."
Cons: "The JAL website specified most trans-atlantic flights with the newer and more spacious seating in Premium Economy. Departing from San Diego, this was only an option once a year I was told at the check in counter. I was counting on extra width and legroom as I am 270 lbs and 73" tall. I was disappointed that these up-gradable seats were not available. I also did not like that we sat on the Oksaka tarmac at a divert airport from Narita (Tokyo) and were not given an option to leave the plane and find alternate transportation of our choice to get us to our destination. I understand the high winds and bad weather was not allowing us to land on time, but we sat on the tarmac for 2 1/2 hours and then left to fly into Narita 5 hours late."

Pros: "Overall a good experience. Even with the unusual dislikes on this particular trip I would fly again on JAL. I would give this trip a 9.4 / 10."
Cons: "Checking in 48 hrs in advance with no aisles or windows seats for selection. Being stuck in the middle seat 26F for 9 hours. Discovered in LAX that my luggage tags were improperly tagged in TPE. I had someone else's luggage tags on my bags going From TPE to KIX to LAX to Houston instead TPE - KIX- LAX- Austin."
