Cons: "the 2 stewardesses disappeared as soon as the flight was in the air. i upgraded to business class in what was a huge waste of money. the fact that they do not make alcohol available in business class is pure laziness, and these people are loving it. keep in mind that you can have water juice and pop. i was given the water i asked for after take off, and then she promptly disappeared for the entire 3 hours. she only returned when i pushed the call button. not good."
Pros: "I was in first class this time. The seat was comfortable for the flight of roughly 2-1/2 hours. We were served a continental breakfast that was filling and healthy with cereal, fresh fruit, Brie, soft crackers and yogurt. I'd rather have something simple but satisfying than something overcomplicated and possibly not that good. The crew was polite and efficient. I did have to use the lavatory at one point and I was happy that it was clean."
Cons: "The entertainment system was down, but it wasn't American - it was gogoflight or whatever it's called. I ended up listening to my Audible so it turned out alright, but on a 2+ hour flight, it could have been frustrating."

Cons: "American isn’t my preferred airline for obvious reasons (delays, notoriously bad service, old planes, and a lack of amenities like WiFi and tv’s), but now I’ll never spend my money with them again. They took me off an already delayed flight after I’d already boarded to examine my smart bag. I know that lithium batteries can’t be taken in the underbelly of the plane and I knew my bag would likely be checked at the gate (why I removed the battery and left it at home in the first place). When they asked me if I had a lithium battery in my bag I said “no.” They then gate checked the bag and allowed me on the plane. After everyone had been boarded (half an hour after we’d been scheduled to take off) they then called my name out on the speaker. I had to then de-board the plane and re-explain to staff that there was no lithium battery in my bag. The staff didn’t believe me citing the infallible logic: “there are ports so there’s a battery.” I told them again and again that the battery had been removed and the charging ports—while there—were inert as they weren’t attached to the battery. STILL, I had to remove all of my clothes from the bag, and open every single compartment (of which there were many) for them to allow me to get back onto the plane. They were telling me that they might have to “rebook the flight” if my bag couldn’t get on. I don’t think I need to explain how agitated/terrified that made me."
Cons: "Stewardesses were grouchy except the one Oriental stewardess. Boarding was late. Reclining seats need to be eliminated!!! I paid $100 extra for additional 6 inches of legroom which was lost when person in front of me reclined. Kona Airport is nasty."
Pros: "I liked that they were on time (mostly) I liked the movie choices.. Crew were very nice....."
Cons: "Wasting money on their part for the silly little bags of pretzels......hardly worth the effort......could be a little more generous on a five hour flight.........."
Cons: "Getting the crew to fly on original date of 12/31 instead of having to scramble to find hotel on other side of BI in Hilo on New Years eve. 24 hour delay and then giving the last row of seats with a screaming baby that another group kept walking back to our section to "grace" us with such melodies!"

Cons: "Add support for Bluetooth headsets on entertainment screens. For the love of all that is good in the world make those seats more comfortable! The isles were super narrow and difficult to exit quickly while carrying my carry-on"

Pros: "The crew was great, the entertainment options were plentiful (if you bring your own earphones) and the flight was smooth."
Cons: "I'm only 5'7" and normal build, and the seats were uncomfortably narrow with no room to partially straighten even my short legs. The life vest box under each seat also doesn't leave much room for the personal item you're supposed to stow under there."

Pros: "Despite getting no updates, our flight itinerary was changed from a 3.30pm flight to a 9.20pm flight. Unfortunately this was after landing from Milan at 1.30 with two small children so we had already had a very long day. We absolutely never would have booked this flight itinerary had we known of the change."
Cons: "I am beyond stunned that our flight itinerary was changed from 3.30pm to 9.20pm with no notification. This is absolutely unreasonable and inexcusable made even worse that we had already had a very long journey from Milan to JFK with two small children. Evidently the issue was that we booked via a 3rd party off the kayak site and not directly with British airways. When American airways changed the flight from 3.30 to 3.25, the 3rd party company failed to file for our updated itinerary so British air/American air bumped us to the next flight at 9.20pm. We have long been loyal to kayak feeling it provides the best breadth of options and good pricing. Now we may use kayak to see all the options but I can’t booking directly with kayak anymore after this complete disaster. We ended up renting a car and driving from jfk to Boston, getting home 23 hours after our journey had started, stressed, beyond exhausted and now have to return the rental car. Thanks kayak."

Snack offerings are minimal one almost all airlines for regular fares. a tiny wafer cookie or about 5 mini-pretzels are not very impressive. I wold much prefer peanuts to pretzels--an option would be good. The gate of outgoing flight to Bloomington kept changing on phone m messaging shortly before takeoff , about 6 gate changes in 10 minutes. Confusing!"

Cons: "Check in through website was confusing to do. Flight shows on alaska airlines sight as a united flight. I downloaded the united app, and it tells me my flight is not just through american airlines, but through another carrier, american freedom or aomething like that. Very confusing. I called someone, I think american airlines, by this time completely confused. If there are multiple carrier types, I should be able to input my flight number and my info ahould come up for me to view flight info and check in, or seat assignment. In the end I dowloaded 2 or 3 apps, a confusing phone call, and when i got to rhw intial check in I was not treated well by tsa personnel. Maybe my name triggered thw extra search or something.Anyway, that last part is unrelated but my return flight was kind of a struggle."

Cons: "I had problems with my reservation. Somehow my last name was typed wrong on the sistem and they couldn't fixed it at the moment i was doing my check in. I had to purchased another ticket otherwise i was going to missed my flight. Very disappointed with that airline. It was my second time traveling with them and definitely my last one."
Cons: "It was a full flight, anyone in loading zones 7-9 were required to check their carry-on luggage. We were in loading zone 6, so not required and preferred not to due to our full day of air travel that would continue into a 3 hour car trip. My husband reached the gate, his ticket scanned, and let onto the plane. I walk up next, my ticket is scanned and then the personnel at the gate said in what I can only describe as the most disrespectful, inconsiderate, ill-tempered tone that he would need take my bag. He grabbed it out of my possession, shoved it into the luggage sizing rack and even though it did fit inside the lines, he said it was "too close" and would need to be checked. Not wanting to cause a scene and quite frankly speechless by this man's attitude, I did not object.. It was not until I was seated on the plane that I noticed more than a dozen items of luggage larger than mine and that the vast majority of people that had 3, 4, 5 carry on items when the maximum is 2: one personal item and one carry on luggage item. It was both the lack of respect and the lack of consistency that lead me to have an extremely "poor" boarding experience. Serious retraining needs to be completed and boarding attendants should not be able to harass airline passengers."

The plane was too small for such a long flight Los Angeles to Atlanta. Took an hour to collect our baggage from baggage claim. I will try to Avoid American Airlines on the future."

They came around with snacks so many times they might as well have served a meal. They had a pretty limited selection of TV shows/movies compared to other airlines, and it played their COVID safety ads every. single. time. you started a new episode or show, even if you got disconnected partway through. I also had issues with the charger in my seat - it was loose and my phone would be charging on and off. However, it was a well-priced flight, comfortable, and staff was nice. No complaints on getting to my destination on time!

Cons: "That when I explained being hearing impaired the boarding attendant said my carry on needed to be checked. I didn't understand her and proceeded to the loading blank. Then when boarding the attendant informed me. I explained I checked my bag in the airport compartment tester and it was fine. I also asked the attendant at the counter. She confirmed it was fine. Still smiling until the snack pretzels were passed out. When I didn't hear the attendant's question, in spite of telling her I was hearing impaired, she threw her hand up rudely and just continued on to other customers. When boarding I watched orhers board with the same size bag as mine, and wondered if telling someone you can't hear gives them the right to inform you at the gate that your bag needs to be checked?"
