Pros: "I found the seats to be very comfortable"
Pros: "I booked this time China air for my parents and because of delayed flight we had very bad experience. Japanese boarding ticking staff were cooperative but seems they don’t have power"
Cons: "They said they understand situation but they were afraid to solve but there were staff name Ms. Umeda Ms. Yasukawa and Ms. Ai were very nice trying to handling the situation but as we were very cooperative and understanding that not their fault. My parents are old my mother can’t walk probably and Blood pleasure patient. I ask for room in Beijing because of 18 hours delayed stay. But they failed for get Hotel. But Japanese staff were nice also crew. I would love to give 5/5 rating but honestly was bad experience only because of delayed flight and couldn’t get recovery."
Pros: "Flawless flight, comfortable seating for me."
Cons: "Food mediocre at best. Air China serves beef or fish. If you don't eat either, request vegetarian. Food not as good as other airlines."
Cons: "It was hot. Just horrible experience."
Pros: "The crew was great."
Cons: "The seats could gave been more comfortable."
Cons: "Flight very delayed, no information provided in English."
Pros: "Air China does have excellent economy class prices on trans-Pacific flights. The planes themselves are not bad, and the flight attendants have been good. Overall it could be worse."
Cons: "Both their website and their check-in staff (at Beijing airport especially) can be terrible and frustrating. it is even difficult to manage flights that you book directly on their own website. The check-in staff are grumpy at best. Catering is as bad as it gets. The airline food is a throwback to the 1970s. Drink selection is poor--no fizzy water/soda water/seltzer. Only regular water, coke and sprite, and no spirits at all. Very bad wine and beer with only one choice for each: Great Wall wine, which is sweet and gross, and warm slimy swill beer. The airline could do better by upgrading the website system and having better staff training for customer service."
Pros: "The crew was outstanding."
Cons: "Plane was too hot."
Pros: "Crew was professional and helpful"
Cons: "No wifi. Food was just ok."
Cons: "As a 1k I got diverted to a small bus for loading. This bus then waited until the regular buses had left before leaving. Then it waited until everyone on the other buses had boarded before letting the four of us to get off the bus - we were the last four people to board the plane. Happily there was still space for my carry on, but it was not what I would call priority service."
Pros: "Pleasant n courteous attendant"
Cons: "No tv monitor in biz class has old seats"
Pros: "Flight smooth, better entertainment anf food is average."
Cons: "Flight attendants cannot communicate well."
Pros: "Food was okay but nice to have a small snack in between the 2 meals; felt a bit hungry from Washington Dulles flight to Beijing."
Cons: "The problem is the time Air China to make the connection flight. It only allows one and half hour from the flight from Hong Kong to Beijing and the latter to Washington Dulles. When the plane touched down in Beijing, it took over half an hour just to taxi to the gate. I have to run literally from the gate to the immigration and to TSA. I had also cut the line to get to the front so I don't missed the connecting flight. There were people screamed and yelled about our action (I Have 2 other couples under the same situation and don't want to miss their flight). But I finally made the security understand that we were told by Air China (with the red Air China round sticker) that we should cut the line to get to our plane. This is second time happened to me and Air China won't wait to close its gate when departure time arrives. I am not sure what will happen if I miss the connection. I stranded one night in Beijing with Continental couple years ago because of typhoon and was told the airline is not required to do anything for you because of weather related. But the connection issue needs to be addressed as I am sure some of my fellow passengers had missed their connecting flight yesterday. For now, I will stay away from Beijing connection ( ie no more Air China) until the latter makes some realistic adjustment to its connecting schedule. This is not difficult but they need to be aware and lessen stress to its customers. Beijing airport authority needs better facility with properly trained personnel to facilitate the transfer process. I had used Tokyo and Seoul with so much ease. Beijing needs to get up"
Cons: "Play flight attendants horrible food movie selection very poor"
Pros: "This time the plane's audio was fixed so it wasn't blaring on the head phones nor overhead."
Cons: "No smiles. No greetings. The crews morale and cheerfulness was vey lacking. Food option was vey limited."
Cons: "Horrible staff. I ordered wheel chair and was told to follow one other person instead. There were about 10-15 people who needed wheel chairs following one person on foot...Food was horrible too.."
Cons: "The flight was very hot the entire 12 hours, no individual air controls were present. We asked for a beer when the first drink service came around and were told only juice or water was available, while the next row of seats were served multiple beers without issue. After the service was over we rang the attendant button, it was immediately shut off and no one came to assist us. Rows ahead and behind us ran an attendant and were served. We asked again for a beer and were told they didn’t have it (these were all by the same attendant that was serving our area, who was liberally serving others in our area) We eventually got up to and went to the service station, where 5-7 other passengers were standing, helping themselves to beers in the carts and pouring themselves wine while flight attendants stood there chatting with them and continuing to ignore us. Eventually we were able to get ones attention and were able to secure two beers, after being told Mulltuple times that they didn’t have them, while other passengers were being served multiple at a time, or helping themselves to the beverage carts in the service areas. Staff was unprofessional and the entire flight was a battle for service. I have flown many 12+ hour flights and never had any stress or issues whatsoever, this was a new and frankly terrible experience. I am wishing my flight home was not with this airline, as I am afraid of a repeat."
Pros: "take Air China only if you go to Beijing. otherwise expect delay, lots of delay."
Cons: "flight delay, flight delay"
Cons: "very irresponsible! & no English"
Pros: "restroom lines were less due to limited choice of drinks which turned out positive specially when flight was full."
Cons: "Had to call agency for confirming seats as web was never successful despite many try's. Agency in Washington was v good and helped. on long haul flights the choice of entertainment is poor. food could have been better"
Pros: "They did not had our foods on both flights."
Cons: "The crew was short tempered, dismissive. Our plane was delayed for hours and they got angry with us for asking for solutions for our missed connections. The only people who got the time of day were the Chinese speaking people. Could not provide me with my pre requested vegetarian meal, so for a 22 hour flight I had some dinner rolls and about a quarter cup of fruit. Not worth the discounted airfare."
Pros: "Big plane"
Cons: "The TV screen is not working"
Pros: "Comfort and service on the plane. Lounge in Beijing was wonderful."
Cons: "What you have to go through in Beijing to transit from one international flight to another. Very disorganized. I will never change planes again in Beijing after this trip. Perhaps it will be better on the way back. Business class travelers should have a special lane."
Pros: "Quick flight love the journey map!"
Cons: "Awful seat mates. Dumb bros who couldn’t stop calling everything “fire”. Couldn’t be helped tho."
Pros: "In flight entertainment worked on the way back home. Mostly comfortable flight."
Cons: "The food wasn't so good and the worst part of flying air china is having to transfer in Beijing. The security lines are always horrid and people working there make it stressful...even more than America which is hard to do. The other issue is no internet."
Pros: "We arrived alive and the plane didnt crash. Thats all."
Cons: "my husband was upset we didnt get a wide body plane for a 5 hour international flight. I think it was a 737. When the plane landed they just parked it in the lot and made us walk down the stairs and take a bus. We had a connection in 60 minutes to make it due to this flight coming in late. With the whole bus nonsense we had to wait for everyone else to get off the plane and they made us go through customs and security (even though i called before and they confirmed we wouldn't have to) and we had to run to our next flight and barely made it right before the gates closed. Oh and they never turned off the fasten seatbelt sign ever even though it was calm."
Pros: "Crew were quite accommodating. Because our flight was delayed by 2 hours, crew let us off the air plane as soon as possible so that we could catch our connecting flight."
Cons: "The flight was late causing a lot of stress in connecting flight."
Cons: "Flight delayed without communication.Crackers & water that was served were all expired.Bad service."
Pros: "Flight crew were helpful and efficient. Food was fine."
Pros: "Clean plane delay"
Cons: "Boarding and deplaning from the tarmac vs a jetway"
Pros: "huge delay without an explanation"
Pros: "I was extremely pleased with the flight attendants. They were excellent at all times. Very professional and friendly. I was particularly surprised at their approach to any passenger who could potentially cause problems for the flight or other passengers. I'm American and to be frank, we are total jerks in flight. You tell an American to put away their mobile device and as soon as you turn your back they're back at it. Americans in general are unreasonable people. The flight attendants' approach to solving problems before they have an opportuniy to become problems was a sight to see, friendly, non-confrontational. They brought beverages around at regular intervals which was very comforting. Also, not only were blankets and pillows at every seat before takeoff, but they were fairly decent. Very comfortable. On a US carrier you can expect to be charged extra for any little thing, and so you don't even bother to ask for it. On Air China you don't have to worry about it."
Cons: "On this flight, nothing. No complaints whatsoever."
Pros: "I felt very safe on the flight."
Cons: "It was an older plane and didn't have the on demand inflight entertainment which would have been nice. Food was just ok."
Cons: "Couldn't touch your phone."
Pros: "The crew were attentive, kind, and polite. The food was decent."
Cons: "The flight was very turbulent (obviously that's not their fault) but I wish they had communicated a bit better about why it was so turbulent. My bag was lost when I finally arrived at my final destination. I think there was some miscommunication in Okinawa about what I needed to do with my bag. I told them my final destination, so assumed it would be fine, but apparently it was my fault somehow that the bag was lost."
Pros: "The crew was friendly and efficient. The breakfast served was better than what I'm used to in economy on flights. Can't say I had any complaints. I would use Air China again."
Cons: "Entertainment system mostly included Chinese movies and TV shows and almost none in English which makes no sense."
Pros: "All aspects of the experience were way above expectation"
Cons: "Not using Air China before"
Pros: "Service & attentiveness of flight crew on red eye and 12 hr+ flight."
Cons: "3rd class was new to me. Little cramped but still comfortable with good entertainment."
Pros: "Nice plane, nice crew, no problems."
Cons: "Plane was empty and passengers were not allowed to spread out for more room and comfort."
Pros: "Timely flights"
Cons: "Food quality"
Pros: "Beijing (PEK) Terminal 3"
Cons: "Beijing (PEK) Terminal 3"
Pros: "At least they told us before I left for the airport"
Cons: "Had to take the train."
Pros: "Seat was comfortable, crew was nice."
Cons: "Changing planes in Beijing took much longer than you would hope - 2 hour layover and could have missed connecting domestic flight. Long lines at immigration, customs, and security - while going from a business class to a first class flight.. Security confiscated small external phone battery for no apparent reason. "Meal" on the plane lacked any protein - roll, cake, and not much else."
Cons: "To other folks with asthmatic kids, a little word of caution re the air inside (repeat, inside) the BCIA terminal that Air China uses for its Beijing layovers. We could taste the outside air pollution's volatile solvents within the terminal, pretty bad near the gate. Our kid was using the Ventolin rescue inhaler every 10 min on the way over. That was an evening. On the way back we had taken the precaution of instituting a short-term oral prednisone course before (half to one mg/kg/day for two-three days beforehand, max fifty mg a day) and things went fine. The air seemed a lot better anyway, and it was early morning, fso probably more that than our precautions. Net, net, given the always present risks of very serious air pollution in Beijing, I'd suggest visitors with asthma take appropriate medical precautions before and during layovers there."
