Pros: "Everything from check in to offloading went smoothly. Pretty good food and accommodating flight staff."

On my flight to Frankfurt, the plane was half empty, yet my seat was changed from row 8 where I would have had almost no one near me back to row 23 where they had cramped all the passesngers into one area of the plane. This was done without request or explanation."

Wish that would have been clear when I purchased the ticket. Also there is no clear info on what the cost is for your bag at what point in the check-in process."

Cons: "First I lost my United Airlines flight because of security reasons. I checked in Guatemala but I was delayed at the Airport's security too long, it was beyond my control. Consequently I got to the boarding gate right when they were closing. Consequently I lost all my connections from then on. The United Airlines was very empathizing with me and my situation and they issued me other boarding passes at no cost. United Airlines suggested me to tell the Austrian Airlines about what happened and they were sure the Austrian Airlines would understand but they were wrong; no understanding on behalf of the Austrian Airlines."

We arrived to the gate to start the boarding and they just told us wait here for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes we were asked to wait another 20 minutes. Only when we missed the take off time by 10 minutes they bothered to update us and inform us that the flight is being delayed in 2 hours."

The flight crew from Vienna to TLV were not kind. My daughter 11 years old went hungry without a meal. The stewardess kept telling her the food was coming & never did. This was a terrible trip & we will never use Austrian air again. I will tell all my family & friends of my terrible experience."

Cons: "Flight was very delayed leaving Sofia which made connecting flights for many people a rush and very stressful. People were pulled to the front of the plane and told to rush to catch their flights. My bag didn't make my connecting flight but Austrian delivered it 2 days later."

Cons: "That was the most uncomfortable flight I have had. It was hard fora short flight, though sitting so close to another passenger, side and front was stressful. Plus, my back was killing me by the end of the short flight- and the long flight from Europe to the US was hard. It was pretty much knocking elbows with the passenger next to me when eating. And mind you- no passenger in my row as any larger than the average person. The seat recline was fine and marginally helpful in relieving back strain- except it did put you in the lap of the passenger behind you. The passenger across the aisle from me shoved the seat in front of her and told the passenger in front of her he could NOT recline. The passenger next to her (I assume her husband) joined in with the shoving. I finally felt a need to intervene and calm them down as it began to escalate- and I did want the flight to continue. Note- while I think the passengers shoving the seat were a bit rude- the crowded nature of the seating with the recline was hard, so I understand. But the person in front had a reason (and a NEED given the discomfort) to lean his seat back. The seats were simply too uncomfortable to keep them upright. I helped them find a recline for both passengers that was reasonably okay. I also tried to get my recline somewhere between comfortable for me (impossible) and reasonable in space for the person behind me, This is an airline problem. And when people wonder about the rise in passenger rage... this cramming in is it. I had to use Austrian because of a last minute need to book a flight- given the inability to relax even a little and the residual back and leg pain ... thus my ability to immediately jump into work during a busy work and travel schedule means that I will definitely not take this airline again. If you are shorter than 5' 5 and weigh about 100 lbs- this might be okay. Otherwise, expect to be a lot of rats shoved in a cage."

No shuttle behind security from Term B to Term A. Plane left earlier than announced on notification apps. DCA website=6:25pm Final call at 5:47pm only word DELAY on term screen with 4:10time."

Cons: "This flight was two and a half hours late. We lost an hour and 45 minutes due to a mechanical problem with our airplane, then lost another 45 minutes due to a storm in Toronto. Air Canada blamed the weather for our late arrival, my missed connection and claimed no responsabilility for the fact that my trip ended up taking more than 24 hours when it was supposed to take about 9 hours. Also, there was the matter of the lost luggage which was a carry on that I accepted to have checked as the Air Canada staff seemed desperate to check our carry ons on a full flight to Toronto from Montreal. I ended up spending the night in the Vancouver airport without access to my luggage."

Cons: "I only had one gripe about this flight and my one other flight on Air Canada Rouge; the overhead bins are very poorly designed. I purchased a carry on bag specifically to meet their regs, yet it had it go in the bin longways, taking up a ton of room. The bins are tall, which is wasted space, when what they really need is another 1-2" in depth."

Flight attendants didn't answer my call button when it was on for over 20 minutes. Yes I turned it off and on again. When she finally came by she just turned it off and walked away. Cons: "We were quite disappointed when we were told there would be a delay due to mechanical issues after already boarding and being on the plane for over two hours. Imagine our distress at being trapped in a narrow seat inside the confines of a plane still sitting on the tarmac and going nowhere with very limited climate control and circulation that added even more discomfort. This level of stress was compounded by the manner in which our minimal nutritional and hydration needs were not only met but as fare paying passengers, we were teased by a meager slice of packaged and processed sliced banana bread and a mere two cups of water. This fact is especially important because it more severely impacted my father who is diabetic and it was not sufficient for him, especially at 11:44 p.m. Also because there was no communication relayed to passengers that the problem would not be resolved the second time we boarded, Air Canada agents should have recommended or handed out dinner vouchers while we were waiting in the airport after they evacuated us the first time (since everything was closed the second time we were evacuated). We were stuck on the plane for a total of 4 hours two separate times they boarded us and in between that we waited back in the airport for 2 hours; therefore a total of over 6 hours of time past the original boarding time which lead us into 1:30am of not going anywhere. Flight was rescheduled for 23 hours later! We understand the challenges of operating an airline and trying to meet schedules and the needs of the customers. Furthermore, we appreciate diligence when it applies to the safety of flying. However, the myriad problems, distress, physical and discomfort not to mention the over 23 hellish hours, was exacerbated by the following: the lack of communicaton and bad information; the paucity of empathy reflected by all Air Canada employees toward our aggregation; the measures taken to mitigate the damage inflicted to what was to be our “dream vacation” and finally the scarcity of adequate accommodation and compensation for all that we endured. We too lost one night at the Barcelona Universal Hotel worth $207, not to mention a lost vacation day worth over $600 in salary for 8 hours for us. Air Canada should be held to higher standards and more responsible for keeping up to date on their aircraft maintenance checks and regulations.  There was also no specific hotel address on the voucher issued which caused us to drive to two different sheraton 4 points locations until we finally reached our destination which there was no vacancy. Luckily after lingering around in the lobby and me having to call multiple hotels to verify vacancy, one room became available and we ended up inviting another family to stay in our room that night (other Air Canada victims). We didn’t get to bed until 5am that following morning after all of that ruckus!!"

This caused delays as passengers had to figure out where they were sitting. Checked in luggage at gate since flight was full and we were asked to volunteer to check-in luggage. At baggage claim, bag delay to retrieve luggage after already hour delay in departure. Bags was not labeled or categorized correctly causing an extra half hour delay to claim bags."

Cons: "Once again I found the air Canada staff unaccommodating, un-attentive and basically indifferent to the aircraft's guest. In addition I tried 4 electrical outlets on the aircraft before finding one that worked and the reading lights never did work. I would never recommend this airline."

Pros: "On time, courteous, great movie selection for the very long flight. Food was decent."

Cons: "Long time till take off."

Pros: "The flight crew were nice and friendly, though they weren't very on top of trash pickup, but they were chipper and that's always better than grumpy crew that are super-efficient. Also, our luggage made it with us despite a tight connection."
Cons: "53 minute hold time to call center (before my call was even answered) to order vegetarian meals for flight (the day before flight) -wish that could be done online, vegetarian meal request not transferred to new flight after we missed our initial flight due to first flight delay, lights not working properly for half of flight (sleeping child under spotlight), the pasta dish, collecting garbage in my seat throughout flight (particularly after meal service), cramped seating, lack of entertainment, and they are now charging for alcoholic beverages on international flights. I'm not a big drinker, but I still enjoyed that perk."

Cons: "Service. French crew from Montreal. Rude at best. They were bothered to do anything. Awful service. Movies only via iPad with Air Canada app. Old movies. No free wine with dinner on international flight. Both luggage damaged and they do not cover it."

Cons: "It was late arriving in from TO. We had to pre board due to a handicapped companion and there was no time to settle with all the rest of the passengers shoving to get on due to the lateness. The majority of the flight was through turbulence. No one helped with placing bags for the handicapped in the overhead. They did not call for the wheelchair at arrival nor was there an attendant att arrival to push the chair up the ramp."

Pros: "Plane arrived pretty much on time. Boarding was uneventful."
Cons: "Plane too low to use jetway at Pearson. Epic walk from US gates to immigration. Insufficient leg room if you're over 5'10", but that's how it is these days."

Cons: "No tvs, which I had on my connecting flight for each individual seat and then the 7hoir flight didn't have any? Also not having individual air control is very claustrophobic! Thank goodness I paid extra for premium seating, but the lady I sat next to said she didn't pay any extra :| also the seat in front of me where I had to place my bag had a bar under it so my bag didn't fit correctly"

Cons: "It's a long flight, unless you are flying first class it's not going to be amazing."

Cons: "I did not like that I could not use my own ear phones to watch movies during my flight. Also they do not offer visa debit on flights so I was not able to purchase ear phones. Which made the 4.5 hour flight long. And my head rest was very uncomfortable, I am short and it pushed my head forward too much which hurt my neck. It would be nice to have the option to remove it. Also on a 4.5 hour flight they should offer free little snack like peanuts or a fruit cup."

Cons: "Delayed for almost 2 hours but keep saying just 50 minutes late"

Cons: "The flight was originally delayed by 30 minutes.. reasonable considering the high winds in both NYC and Toronto. Things started going wrong after we boarded the airplane and then were told the flight crew had not yet arrived from LGA. There is simply no excuse for airlines not keeping sufficient standby crew capacity to minimize these issues. This is a clear case of the airline under staffing at the expense of its customers. By the time the flight crew arrived we were just barely able to make the 8:45 wheels up time for our clearance. The flight to LGA was uneventful until we landed. We were then told our gate was occupied by another plane, a delay that was initially forecast to be a few minutes turned into what seemed to be close to an hour. As a result, I arrived home to my Manhattan apartment at least two hours later than I should have. Flight delays happen, I accept them when they are for reasons that cant be avoided... I look for other airlines (such as united) when they occur for entirely preventable reasons and result in back pain from being trapped in an airline seat for 3+ hours instead of the 1hr 15 or so I should have been stuck in the seat."

Cons: "The flight was half empty and when I tried to move a row ahead of me (from economy to economy plus), the flight attendance rudely told me I had to move back to my seat since the economy plus seat was $70 more. However, a reasonable airline would upgrade their customers to first or economy plus to not only appease their customers but to fill some empty seats. Therefore, I had to spend the entirety of my redeye flights crammed next to someone while I was looking at an almost empty economy plus section. Also, we boarded earlier than expected but we spend an extra hour on the flight waiting to take off. I would not have minded boarding early if we had taken off early, but we took off an hour later."

After spending a fair amount of time on the phone with customer service I was able to get me on a Flight to Minneapolis that did not arrive till 1:30am then had to take a rental car to drive 3.5 hours to make it to my destination. I was not compensated for any of this. My return flight from Fargo to St. Louis was also Delayed. Both from Fargo and from Chicago. I have never experienced such poor scheduling from an airline or as many delays or cancelled flights in just a few day period."
