Waited for 3 hours then the flight to Dusseldorf was canceled. waited for 2 hours for a train ticket. then had to take another train to the airport to get a rental car. GOT TO THE HOTEL AT 11:30pm Saturday night had to be at work at 7:00am NOT HAPPY"

So I asked if there were any upgrade seats available and she said yes for 300 Euros. They were actually three-quarters of the way boarded when I ask a question so realistically they wouldn't have sold that seat. But they refused give it away. So they're more interested in making money then making a customer comfortable."

My husband and I were seated in two different rows even though we requested to sit together in an aisle and window seat and checked in the day before the flight This happened on all four legs of a trip to South Africa. Extremely narrow seats and little leg room. Felt like a cattle car. An aggressive woman with disruptive, screaming children was allowed to Torture passengers for a good five hours of the flight before the bursar finally moved her. This was after several hours of complaints from other passengers. She was eventually moved twice due to passenger complaints. The situation should have been handled after the first complaints which occurred two hours into the flight before the situation completely detiorated Food was terrible and meals ran out."

I old the flight attendant that I needed help stowing my backpack in the overhead bin, not because it was that heavy or big, but because the previous flight had been 5 hrs long and after being stuck in the middle seat my back was killing me and lifting my bag over my head would have triggered a muscle spasm. I have a back condition and they refused to help me. She would not even hear me out and insisted on me to check my bag, which I refused to because my laptop and tablet were in there without propper padding to protect them. The same flight attendant had already yelled at a passanger and was making a scene that made several other passengers uncomfortable. i understand the flight was full and they were delayed enough, but the airline clients should not have to pay for the airline's mistakes."

I was then put on standby for a flight that would leave two hours later. I went through security it only took 10min because it was 8am on a Saturday morning in LAS VEGAS. I was through security and my original flight still hadn't left. If the kiosk had just printed my ticket I would have made my flight with plenty of time."

Pros: "Business class includes limo service to the airport, a tremendous perk. Boarding was a snap, especially in Shanghai which included a private van for First and business class passengers. The food in business class was outstanding. There was plenty to eat during the meals and the quality was surprisingly good. You could also order snacks and drinks throughout the flight. A great selection of movies also."

Cons: "This ridiculous airline and it's rude, obnoxious staff in Chengdu made a mockery of my friend and I (two 21 year old American girls traveling alone). We had booked round trip tickets back in October 2017 that included a 1 hour layover in Chengdu first, then a 7 hour layover in Shanghai on our way to Bangkok for a trip in Thailand. That was fine with us. Then all of a sudden it changed to a 6 hour layover in Chengdu then an 18 HOUR layover in Shanghai. We decided to deal with it and get a hotel room in Shanghai, no big deal. After a great trip in Thailand and leaving fine from Bangkok to our first layover in Chengdu, that is where the nightmare started. First off, going through Chengdu customs, I don't know if it is because Americans do not travel through there a lot, but the officers pulled us aside and were passing around our American passports around their staff, taking pictures of them with Iphones before handing us "in-transit" paperwork to fill out. As weird as that was, no one really seemed to speak english and we just wanted to get away from them and get through. When we went to the check in counter, they handed me a boarding pass for our flight at 1:50 that afternoon, but then proceeded to tell my friend that she wasn't on a flight until the next morning at 7 am out of Chengdu and our original connecting flight out of Shanghai at 11:50 the next morning was now at 8 pm for her. What could have been simply fixed like it WAS after calling priceline and our travel agent, the staff at the ticket counter and a representative over the phone made our lives living hell. They barely spoke english and the ones that did were very rude to us, saying that they couldn't help us and put us on the phone with China Eastern. FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF we were on the phone with a representative who was talking us in circles, telling us that there were no available seats on the 1:50 and that he could get her on the next 3:45 out of Chengdu, then put us on hold to come back and say he couldn't only change 1 domestic flight in China, but would have to cancel her flight to NY. When offering to pay to just DO IT and get out of china, he said that if he were to cancel it and take our credit card info, it "may or may not go through" and if it didn't she would be stuck with no flights. When asked how that made any sense, he proceeds to say" Because miss, our system sucks," and other rude things like "Why can't you just keep your flight and meet your friend in NY." then him along with a rude ticket counter guy say that he could help us if we took 5,000 yuan out of the bank and paid them cash. TRYING TO SCAM US. After all this drama a simple call to priceline was able to fix the problem no payment involved, and there WERE available seats on all the flights and a domestic flight could be changed. LYING, SCAMMING, RUDE, individuals. Definitely worth a little more money to take any other airline BUT THIS ONE."

The person on the aisle was sleeping for most of the flight and I didn't want to disturb her so I could get out. I know the best seat assignments are probably given in order of check-in but I also wasn't allowed to check in online. Since my flight was delayed getting into LA, I was one of the last people checked in for the flight and that may be why I was given a middle seat. One other note about the flight... I was unable to hear the flight attendant making the announcements, so maybe something was said about needing to fill out an arrival card for the checkpoint. I assumed that since I was just connecting through and not actually staying in China, that I did not need this card. Needless to say, I didn't find out I needed this card until I waited in line and got to the checkpoint officer. It was not a huge problem for me since I had a lengthy layover in Shanghai, but if I had had a shorter layover, I could have missed my next flight because of this delay."

Cons: "Legroom"

Pros: "Flight was cheap, on time, and uneventful. Entertainment options were decent."
Cons: "Both our outbound and inbound flights were rescheduled, causing us to lose 2 full days of our 12-day vacation. Because we booked through vayama, we couldn't manage the booking on the CEAIR website or take advantage of the free layover hotel. My partner and I were seated separately."

Pros: "The people were friendly and helpful. They genuinely wanted me to feel comfortable. This gets a double thumbs up from me!!!"
Cons: "There were no problems with anything. I would gladly take this flight a bunch more times."

Food is no choice. It s only one kind of meal. you need to eat what they have. Imaging if you dont eat chicken or seafood , you will be hunger on flight . 4. Toilet is very dirty , Cebin Crew might clean only 1 times in 8 hours."

Cons: "When I had problems because the plane was.late, it was.very difficult to get help."

Cons: "You cannot use your phone in airplane mode. I have my books on my phone and I wasn't allowed to use it. iPad is ok but no mobile device. So silly."

Pros: "Pleasant crew. Best pricing on flights."
Cons: "The flight was extremely cold each way of the trip. Need to manage the air condition system so that passengers aren't freezing the whole trip. Also, even when my phone was in "airplane mode" with the wifi turned off, I was still not allowed to use my phone device to listen to the music player, which is not connected to the internet data nor wifi. This doesn't make sense. No vegetarian options for my wife and I, which is something readily available with other airlines. This will most likely make me change airlines for the next flight to China."

Pros: "The food was pretty good. Except for one flight that served a sandwich filled with mayonnaise. The take off and landing from SF to Shanghai was pretty good. I couldn't feel them, so the pilot was excellent."
Cons: "Nobody there speaks ENGLISH! It was so bad! And staffs would try to ignore you since they couldn't speak English. I don't know how I got through this flight. But I would not recommend for anyone who has never flown with this airline, and does not speak Chinese. Also, I was constipated when I got to my second flight change bc of the little water that was provided on the plane."

Cons: "Flight was due to take off in the morning- about 9am. There was not notice given that it was canceled until 2pm. I received a notice after the flight had presumably taken off. We were able to rebook on a Dragonair flight leaving at 11:00."

Pros: "I'm grateful we didn't crash or anything. It's not as costly as other airlines, but we learned it's worth it to pay more..."
Cons: "Every flight was significantly delayed (we had two flights to the destination and two flights back home, all via China Eastern.) One was so delayed we barely made our connection, and our luggage didn't make the connection at all. So, we spent nearly 2 days on vacation without our belongings. The return flight was so delayed that we did miss our connection, and had to spend the night in Shanghai. China Eastern's staff in Shanghai handled it VERY poorly. They were rude, refused to give us instruction, and we spent hours in the airport trying to figure out which bus to take and where we were actually going. Their exact words to one distraught couple seeking help were "That's not our problem." Service in general was average to poor. Food was average. There are no adult drinks available even for purchase, and they would have been nice to enjoy given the other stresses they caused on our vacation. Our seats were often damaged in one way or another. I was attracted to this airline for the reasonable rates, but do yourself a favor and pay a little extra for a more tolerable experience."

Pros: "Modern plane - nice staff. We were always on time or told why we were not on time."
Cons: "People were screaming and running around the aisles; no one bothered to respect the 'sleep/awake' time, which was not the staff's fault. They also did not serve much water."

I understand delays are a natural part of the travel industry, however a simple explanation or reassurance regarding the details of the delay are greatly appreciated but were lost on the East Chinese crew. Food was terrible. Seat was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever been on. Absolutely no in flight entertainment on a 10 hour flight. Awful experience and I'm glad it's over."

Flight attendants seem to have very limited English skills."

Pros: "Convenient. Excellent new international terminal in Nanjing and so quick to get through the whole process, of checkin, immigration, customs, and security. The USA TSA should learn from international travel. Food court is GREAT, fresh food and affordable which the government does not allow for high prices, thus more travelers eat there rather than bringing their own food."
Cons: "Food service, did not go aisle by aisble jump around which took longer to get drinks and food."

Pros: "There were three different meals served on the flight from Shanghai, which although they were not Western, were pretty good, and beer and non-alcoholic drinks were offered throughout the flight. Lots of entertainment choices, many in English and each seat had its own screen. Seats were comparable in legroom to American economy. Business and first class looked amazing. Flight attendants were friendly enough, and spoke passable english. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to get to Europe and are leaving from/going to US, I would recommend this airline. We flew LAX to Pudong to BKK."
Cons: "All the flights were delayed, but I think it was due to weather. Warm beverages served, no ice available at all(but that's me being a picky American!). Warm beer is gross"
