Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Miami based cabin crew were nice, but they sat in the back of the plane and talked to each other then whole flight. Pretty unprofessional. Chicago based crew from start to finish were fantastic."
Cons: "Miami crew from checkin to boarding were rude, demeaning and unhelpful in this extreme situation. Really rude, particularly the gate boarding pass girl. Haven't you learned your lesson about being rude to passengers yet? I won't be choosing AA again. Your loss, I fly a lot."
Pros: "Kind crew."
Pros: "The crew for the rear of the plane for this flight was fantastic."
Cons: "More Woodford reserve. Was only 1 available."
Cons: "I was in the aisle seat and kept getting bumped into by the crew as they walked by. I leaned toward the middle seat but still got hit with the cart, people’s bums, their hips, etc. The flight landed at 4am, so I was tired and really wanted to sleep but couldn’t. Also, the AC was not working during the flight. We were all melting until we started descending. Then, while waiting to get off the plane, they turned off the AC completely. Bad move."
Pros: "The flight was on time"
Cons: "The crew, comfort, flight itself"
Pros: "The flight was on time and deboarfing went quickly."
Pros: "Not too much delay/ wait between flights"
Cons: "snacks ?"
Pros: "Comfortable seats & fast boarding"
Pros: "Seats were roomy and comfortable."
Pros: "Good flight good crew"
Cons: "Hated the connection from terminal 5 to terminal 3 we should not have to go through the departure lounge this added 10 mins or more into a very tight connection."
Cons: "Because our first flight was delayed over 4 hours we missed our connection and had to be re-booked on the only other flight that still had seats that day. We had previously booked and paid for Main Cabin extra seats in the second row that included extra leg room and free drinks. We ended in an airplane with two exit rows, one near the front and the other near the back. Our seats were right behind the rear exit row in the back of the plane. The seats did not recline and there was limited leg look because the exit row seats were aligned differently due to the crew seat next to the door. Also, the bathroom was right in front of the row in front of us and so it was busy, noisy and smelled. Obviously we didn't get our free drinks either. Now I'm having to fight with American trying to get a refund of the money we spent for the Main Cabin extra fees. The fun never stops. I will never fly American again."
Pros: "Crew was friendly"
Cons: "Delayed flight again. The American Airlines norm now. Seats are small. I ended up sharing part of mine with the man next to me. No food or snacks No entertainment. Not even a skymall magazine to keep me amused."
Pros: "Easy check in, helpful staff. Great seats and lovely in-flight amenities. Most of the food was really good and quite a bit was offered during the flight. Arrived early and staff was really helpful in getting through customs."
Cons: "Weight limit on baggage was very strict. Boarding took a long time and seemed disorganized."
Pros: "American Airlines staff from checking to departation were very friendly."
Cons: "Sat behind a couple with a small dog that was very stressed and barked at anyone that walked by. It was a late flight and I could have used a few winks."
Cons: "Not the airline’s fault, but we had three hour delays due to weather in NYC, so I was in a foul mood."
Pros: "The fact that they re-booked without me having to contact customer service."
Cons: "The connecting flight was cancelled while boarding was in progress at the start of the journey."
Pros: "Food was good. Staff was polite."
Cons: "Both flights were late leaving. Plus then we waited on board for a long time. Once on board and waiting, no explanation, no updates. No idea what was going on or why. An announcement would have helped a lot. Philky-Prg: Long delays with food , staff was slow on the Philly -Prg flight. Seemed like they didn't want to be there. No info from flight crew. Phily to Prg - Crappy old plane that should not be flying over seas anymore. Applies to both flights unless specified."
Pros: "Friendly staff."
Cons: "Typically claustrophobic conditions. No in-flight entertainment."
Pros: "Crew"
Cons: "Comfort"
Cons: "Not BA's fault, but I didn't like the long flight. I liked the pillow and blanket provided."
Cons: "So. Many. Screaming. Children."
Pros: "Competent crew; flight arrived on time with my luggage."
Cons: "Plane was jammed full; so much so that even passengers like me, who paid to check one of my bags, still had to put my one carry-on under the seat in front of me instead of in an overhead compartment. I expected some legroom because I paid to check my bag. Unfortunately because of American Airlines I had next to no legroom. I'll be avoiding AA where possible on all of my future travels."
Cons: "Potable water was down so no coffee, tea, or more important... water to wash hands. Then they didn’t have my second choice of beverages after coffee either."
Pros: "Considerate flight attendants. Turned lights down for evening flight, so we could get some rest."
Cons: "Flight was not on time. Time was changed a day prior with no reason explained. No in flight entertainment on this flight."
Cons: "No leg room"
Pros: "Only about 20 people on board did not have follow up connection flights. My flight going to Rome was also delayed by a half an hour. TBH I don't recall being on a AA flight that ever left on schedule."
Pros: "Priority boarding."
Cons: "Connection from SAN to PHX seemed cheaply made."
Pros: "the plane was very new and in excellent condition"
Cons: "Disappointed with the "Hot Box" (Bean Burrito type) cold & never heated up but still served...unedible. Real shame - food just wasted...unnecessary and just adds to costs of flights at end of day :-/ Customs & Gate in Clt delay could have been handled better. Continuously told us we were deplaning and then silence...several times...very frustrating after 9 hour flight. Better communication and organization in customs would be appreciated Otherwise, crew was very polite and overall good job"
Pros: "Flight was delayed in classic AA form, ten minutes at a time, leaving you standing around the gate picking your nose with no information! An hour later we board. Our flight attendant Nicky was awesome!"
Cons: "The plane had no power outlets and spotty WiFi. Even though they knew we were late to Charlotte, they let our connection take off EXACTLY on time while dozens of us rand through the airport. AA does this to themselves, they are the worst!"
Cons: "see review headline above"
Pros: "Appreciated the extra legroom and food and drink service, even on a short flight. Crew seemed very friendly."
Cons: "It was way too cold. We shouldn't all be bundling up in scarves and jackets. I've noticed that European airlines manage nut to freeze the passengers, so three must be a way to adjust the standard temperature on planes a but more."
Pros: "I like that on American you still get a complimentary cup of coffee, a bag of pretzels, and a normal sized seat. I'm OK paying for that after trying some of the budget airlines!"
Cons: "Wish they had a gluten free snack, still that's really not a big deal at all!"
Pros: "Flight crew was awesome!"
Cons: "Connected from Cabo through Phoenix... seems that AA has really done a great job with passengers, but luggage is a whole other story, waited over an hour in Phoenix for luggage to come out, of course it didn't make the connection (had to clear customs in Phoenix)"
Pros: "On time departure"
Cons: "Please use the A330 for the return trip..."
Pros: "Flight on time. Crew were pleasant."
Cons: "Usb charger would not charge tablet in flight. Tried multiple sources since there were 4 of us-none worked."
Pros: "Flight crew was excellent."
Cons: "Crappy old plane. No individual tvs. Offered entertainment was truly awful."
Pros: "The crew is good"
Pros: "That I got home safely"
Cons: "From the get go it was an awful experience ... I travel with an emotional support animal as does my husband because we don't do well with flying. I have anxiety to the max about it & my husband gets ulcerative colitis flare ups any time he's stressed out which is usually while we fly and having our dogs with us turkey makes us feel better. When I called to tell them over the phone we would have our emotional support animal I got an attitude as if I hadn't been doing this for the last 4 years. She reiterated to me that we needed in addition to the letterhead from the doctor a form filled out (which we both did ) . Brought to the airport and sit had to sit at the counter like the girl didn't know what she was doing. Fast forward to finally getting to the gate after being stressed and our flight was delayed. This now only made our 50 min layover in DC 20 min by the time we landed. We ran from one gate to the next hoping we wouldn't miss our flight and when we got there they wouldn't let us on the plane saying things like "your dogs are not on this flight" "there is no documentation" "well then you must not have the right paperwork" ... in front of a bunch of people in line, out of breath, and now embarrassed I am forced to take out my folder and give them all the paperwork I had just given to the customer service desk before our first flight. They let everyone on the plane and still made us stand there and finally said "just go but your dogs aren't on this flight". Fast forward AGAIN to sitting on the flight the flight attendant comes over and says "guys where's you carrier the dogs need to be under the seats" .. we peoceeded again to explain for the seventh time that they were emotional support animals ... she then proceeded "no they are not they are not even listed on this flight" at this point I'm EXTREMLY embarrassed because people on the plane are paying attention and drawing attention to us but not only that ... I have been doing this for years .. I ALWAYS have the proper documentation as does my husband and we have never ran into this kind of disappointment and embarrassment from any airline until now. I was so stressed out to begin with and this deffinately didn't help ... nor did it make us wants to fly on American again. I felt pushed aside, embarrassed, and belittled by multiples employees ... all because the first employee clearly made a mistake and didn't document things correctly ... that should have never been put on us ."
Cons: "The plane was a very old 767. No tv The food was ok."
Pros: "Everything went well. No problems."
Cons: "No personal screens on each seat-,makes international flight very long."
Pros: "Please put n/a as an option. There was no entertainment for a flight lasting a little over an hour."
Cons: "The crew was rude"
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "We were delayed for 6 hours due to a maintenance issue. Horrible customer service"
Cons: "This was my 5th American flight in 3 days, four of which were significantly delayed. I was supposed to meet relatives for dinner; instead I got there at bed time"
Cons: "I was late departing from Omaha to Dallas, then was held back till 2 p.m. to fly to Corpus Christi. I was never apologized to as well for my delays."
Cons: "I did not get to go on my trip because I was told that I couldn't travel outside of country on a one-way ticket and when I call the airline customer service number they were not helpful either. I lost my money and flight, they wouldn't even let suspend the ticket for later used. Worst experience ever"
