Equatorial Guinea has reopened its borders to nationals, residents, and visa holders traveling for business reasons or with a government approval.
Entry into Equatorial Guinea is prohibited for all passengers (including stopover flights) traveling from the UK.
Arriving international travelers must present a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued at most 48 hours prior to arrival, as well as proof of residency, employment, or business purpose of the visit.
All travelers, regardless of negative PCR or COVID-19 test results are required to undergo a rapid COVID-19 test upon arrival and are subject to a 5-day quarantine. At the end of 5 days they must take another test with two options to get out of quarantine: if it is negative they will be allowed to go and if it is positive they will be transferred to the isolation unit for asymptomatic cases or to a referenced health center designated by the medical team.
Quarantine and testing is at cost of passengers arriving and leaving. The fees for the PCR test is 50.000 XAF for EG nationals and 110.000 XAF for all other nationals.
Travelers arriving without a valid and negative PCR test, will be sent to mandatory government quarantine and undergo COVID-19 testing at their own cost. If they are sent to a mandatory quarantine hotel, as soon as they are able to, they should email firstname.lastname@example.org with their contact details, name, and date of birth.

Cons: "New US regulations requiring tablets and laptops to be stored in checked baggage were not relayed to me. I booked the trip in February and the new regulations went into effect in March, but I was never notified. When we got to Istanbul from Brussels and made our way to the gate, we had to go through a security checkpoint where I was informed that my tablets would be confiscated and given back to me once we landed. They had a claim area set up next to our baggage claim turn-style to get tablets and laptops back, but it took us 30 mintues to get our tablets (only 5 mintues to get our baggage). Again, I realize they're only doing their jobs and this regulation is new, but the system they put in place for it and their total lack of communication for customers who had already booked trips was awful. Also, at the checkpoint I was told my tablets would be confiscated and my passport had a sticker put on it. I moved down the line where I was told they would take my tablets and the next guy told me I was clear to go. I asked for verification and he ushered me along, so along I went. Then, while sitting in the plane waiting to leave, a group of 5 or 6 people came on board and searched me out, saying they didn't have a record of my tablets being handed over. I told them I was told to move on at the second checkpoint and they gave me a look as though I was lying, but then said it wasn't my fault and made me retrieve them from my bag and hand them over. It wasn't a huge deal, but it sure did make me look like an idiot in front of everyone else on the flight who could see it happen. The whole reason we brought our tablets was to read books on the flight, and a 13 hour flight doesn't exactly go by quickly. I udnerstand they're just doing their job, but they should have sent an update to people on these flights."

This man lost all his money, he saves up all year to go see his family. That's an ugly way to take advantage of people."

After travelling almost 24 hours I was tired and was trying to find the seat using the boarding gate number. I figured out I should have been in 9 D by the end of the flight. Instead I sat in the last row because it was empty and there was not a seat 26A. I almost missed this flight because my boarding pass said 26A and really it was 27A. I did look at the board. I did not compare the board to the ticket, and the numbers were so close my tired brain thought they matched. When it was time to board I checked at gate 26A and she sent me around the construction. I told the guy there (27A) I was looking for 26A and he said to go around the construction. I told him they sent me to him and he insisted I go around the construction. I would have missed the plane if someone else had not come up just then and said he was going to Richmond. At that point I told the guy I was too, and he checked my ticket. Some of the problem was my tired brain and you cannot fix that. Perhaps when someone tells your employee that they have already been sent around the construction the employee should just check the ticket instead of trying to send them back."
Cons: "The Premium Eco seats are a catastrophe. They don't recline: the seats only slide down slightly but the upper part of your body doesn't move much. This makes for a poor experience, especially on a night flight. Except if you need the extra width, Eco has better value."

At one instance I was locked in the washroom as the door was not opening from inside, until I had to call the attendant. Entertainment options were limited. Food was below average. In one of my meals I got opened and melted butter. Cabin crew was not responding to the calls when I needed water. I finally got it after ringing 4 bells and 45 minutes. Overall, a terrible experience and would not choose to fly with Ethiopian again."

Cons: "The experience from the airport to the plane to Lome was beyond troubling. If ever you are flying internationally from NYC, never fly from Newark New Jersey. Nevertheless, upon boarding the Ethiopian Airline flight to Lome that was supposed to depart at 9:15 pm, the courtesy of the flight attendants was a bit mundane. My mother and I sat on the plane for about an hour after the time of the depart before inquiring why we have no moved and the doors were closed. The flight attendant responded with, "We shall be moving shortly." The air conditioner was barely on. My mother is battling stage 3 Cancer and is an older woman so, I feared for the safety of her health in such a condition. About 30 minutes passed, and we inquired again. This time with a different flight attendant and she said she just did not know what was going on. Other people on the plane began to panic in a sense as well because like my mother and I, they too had a connecting flight to catch. The pilot did not inform the passengers of what was occurring. So, at this point, all passengers on flight ET509 had been sitting on the plane for an hour and a half. By the time we were sitting on the plane for 2 HOURS with the doors closed the pilot finally informed us that they were waiting for some paperwork. He did not apologize or give more information as to why we were sitting on the plane so long, with practically no AC, and weren't informed about when we would be pulling off. About 10 minutes later, the plane began backing up while people were still standing because they were restless with the wait especially when we had a 10-hour flight ahead of us. The pilot then got on the loudspeaker stating that we will be pulling in the air shortly and for the flight attendants to be seated. The pilot did not apologize for the inconvenience or state how long the flight would be or what time we would land in Lome, Togo. Once we were in the air, there were many safety hazards administered by both the crew and pilot. The seat belt safety information was not given, the exit areas in case of emergency were not discussed, what to do in case of an emergency, where certain equipment would be in case of illness or an emergency, and we were still not informed about the cause of the 2 hours and 15-minute delay. My mother and I consistently checked the flight tracker and it did not show the duration of our flight, our location while flying, no flight information was displayed and as hard working paying passengers we should have had all of the information and not have to continuously ask to get a slight answer. Also, I am a vegan and they did not have food for me. But there was a flight attendant who gave me extra fruit which I greatly appreciated. The flight coming back to Newark was decent, going was the major issue. I pray we are accommodated for these great inconveniences. Because to have spent almost $3,000 and receive this type of treatment is both saddening and disturbing to me."

In a nutshell, the customer service sucks, for least money i could have taken another airline with better service."

The plane was kept at a very warm temperature, so I was sweaty for most of the flight (I'm usually very cold; it's rare that I find a space too warm). The crew gave me a hard time when I requested the vegetarian meal, claiming that they didn't have one (except they did, which they produced minutes later). I've never been on an international flight that didn't have a vegetarian option. THEN, we left JFK late, and I missed my connection to another Air Maroc flight by TWO minutes. They shut the gate and wouldn't reopen it. Multiple people needed to make this connection; any other airline would have held the plane for the entire five minutes necessary. In conclusion: terrible service and filthy, uncomfortable planes."
