Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Crew was friendly and online entertainment system had a lot to offer. Online check-in does save time, it's a shorter queue & you just have to drop off your luggage."
Cons: "Eithad charges for seat selection now! Not seats with extra legroom or any other perks. But any seat in Economy if you select it 24 hours before departure, anywhere from $25 to $45. Seat selection is free if flight departure is less than 24 hours away but available seats are all random."
Cons: "Checking was slow at IAD and flight got delayed in Abu Dhabi and there was not good communication on delay."
Pros: "I enjoyed the services, the crew and the food and beverage"
Cons: "The WiFi services. I ordered the lite service for $4.95 and the 30 mb was finished in less that 10 minutes. Not sufficient"
Cons: "Crew was very rude when giving veg meals. Even though we had confirmed veg meals multiple times with the airline prior to boarding, they still did not know that we had a specially requested Meal. After notifying the crew of this, one member gave us an extra meal. Another extremely rude staff member then proceeded to yell at us for eating meal. This was extremely uncalled for and has severly ruined the reputation of this airline in our eyes. The customer should still be addressed with some common courtesy and not be treated as if they are beneath the crew members, as if we are at fault for the crew's own carelessly stupid mistakes and lack of organization and proper communication"
Pros: "short lay over in Abudhabi. Flight was on time."
Cons: "At Abu Dhabi airport my mother had to change her plane , where assistance for elderly and wheel chair was extremely limited . Also the food on the plane was not as good as the food service on most international flights."
Cons: "We did order food vegetarian Jain but they didn’t provide that."
Pros: "The crew was very nice and attentive to the needs of all, but especially to the senior citizens and families with small children."
Cons: "The assignment of seats for the Gold card members."
Cons: "Entertainment byTV with more new movies."
Pros: "Only 2nd leg- the crew was better"
Cons: "Crew was bad/ food options were horrible/ boarding wasn’t very comfortable/ space in the aircraft was bad/ entertainment was limited/"
Cons: "The on boarding staff was rude and unhelpful. The seats of the same ticket were not issued aside each other. The food is below mediocre compared to Emirates. Would take Emirates anytime over Ethihad moving forward."
Pros: "Only process of boarding."
Cons: "Everything else was not close to other comparative airlines. Food was horrible. Just FYI, cottage cheese is not the only food for Asian vegetarians. There actually are many other options. Not enough options for entertainment."
Cons: "Everything was good about the flight"
Pros: "My first meal offered a lamb and rice dish with carrots and currants that was most tasty, while the second meal included a nice vegetarian rice dish. They were both very good and a good introduction to the wonderful food of the Middle East."
Cons: "I had an issue with the sound on my entertainment unit that caused it to stop every time I paused a viewing. I had to exit then return to the show, which restarted where I paused it, but it was annoying. It also would have been nice to have a solitaire card game to play online. Overall, though, the variety was well thought out."
Cons: "Boarding smooth"
Pros: "Stewardess and stewards were courteous"
Cons: "Long and laborious boarding in DC and Abu Dhabi."
Pros: "The flight took off and landed on schedule"
Cons: "The food was not good but for a short flight, I was ok with waiting until I landed in Kathmandu to eat."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "The employees in the plane and at the counter they are not helpful"
Pros: "Boarding was easy, crew was fantastic and nice. Flight was as comfortable as they could make it for the limited space. Food was great for airplane food. Entertainment was decent. Didn't try the wifi because I didn't need to."
Cons: "Would've been more inclined to use wifi if by time and not bytes."
Pros: "This was my second time flying with Etihad and the experience was excellent. Continue to provide excellent service to all customers regardless of where the sit"
Pros: "Staff was polite and curtious"
Pros: "Loved the inflight service and the airlines comfort."
Cons: "The carry on baggage policy of checking the size and weight of the luggage was very discomforting. Qatar did not check that kind of scrutiny of weights on our luggages."
Cons: "Overall bad experience with Etihad Airways flying from Dulles to Abu Dhabi. I won't be flying with them again. 1. ETA: I had to apply for an electronic travel authority (ETA) (essentially an electronic tourist visa) twice despite the fact that I had been granted the visa originally by the Government of Australia two weeks prior to my flight. For some reason, airline staff said they could not see the visa information attached to my passport. I showed them the emails from the Government of Australia stating that my application had been successful along with the relevant reference number. The staff told me to apply for another one and let them know once I had. They informed me that this "happened all the time" with their customers traveling to Australia. If it is happening "all the time," Etihad Airways should check their database to ensure there are no glitches. It's Australia, not a third-world country, so it's likely on the Airline's end. The crew did not offer to look up my reference number or otherwise do any leg work to verify the visa that I already had, even when the application page stated that I already had a visa for the relevant time period! This stressed me out just a few hours before I was supposed to take off and could have been handled with a little effort by the staff. 2. Baggage Weight: They are sticklers for baggage weight, weighing your carry-on both prior to check in (it must be under 7 kg) and again right before boarding the plane. Literally no other airline has done this in my entire experience except the cheapo ones. Thankfully, I had a big purse and was able to shift the baggage weight around to get on because they pulled me out of line to board the plane. It's all going on the same plane so it makes no sense at all. This needlessly drags out the boarding process. 3. Crew: They sat a man who was coughing incessantly on my row (I had two empty seats next to me). The crew member accompanied him to my aisle while he told me where he would sit. The crew did not ask me to make space or anything (of course I would have said yes), but this particular gentleman had a cough and made me sick for my trip. I was not happy, and that situation could have been handled so much better. Bottom Line: Do yourself a favor and fly with Emirates. They're far better and professional and are similarly priced. Had none of these issues with them. (Added bonus: the food's a lot better as well)."
Pros: "Excellent flight crew, remarkably comfortable seating—every aspect of the trip was above my expectations"
Cons: "Absolutely nothing"
Cons: "On the boarding time thy check you handcarry wait and on that time if you have extra wait they want to throw I don’t like that because on the counter if they check and tell you have exsis wait you have a option to give your extra stuff to your attendant but they give hard time to pas Sanger’s I really hait that sevice"
Cons: "The restrooms were not clean and stinky."
Pros: "I liked all my special gluten free food!! It was very good!’"
Cons: "The crew just wasn’t all that friendly, and the seats were so close together, there was very little legroom!"
Pros: "Overall trip was fine but nothing to be thrilled about with it."
Cons: "-my longest flight was completely full and I was sitting between 2 good size men which was just not comfortable. -I asked if I can a seat swap but crew seems to not care much about it. -No snacks in between for a change. I asked for something to munch but there is nothing which they can offer. finally I had to ask for a fruit or something. I am sure nuts, crackers is something they will have on the flight. - they don't give out socks or toohbrush/paste or anything like that. no eye pad incase if you want to sleep peacefully. -crew was very frin"
Pros: "Good service. Excellent food"
Cons: "No complain"
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Their food quality is so poor and seats are very uncomfortable i will never fly with eithad"
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "They don't even give you a can of Diet Coke or any ice even after requesting repeatedly Unbelievable"
Pros: "Comfortable seats more room for the legs."
Pros: "Nothing. I would never ever choose Etihad airline again"
Cons: "At Washington Dulles airport the whole staff was really rude and unprofessional. I had only one hand carry and it was 9 kg. I requested them that I can buy a bag and can divide the stuff in two bags. But supervisor who seemed Indian was really racist and he kept insisting that we are flying in 5 minutes. Either you have to pay penalty for this hand carry or you can cancel your flight. I have never ever seen this kind of behavior from anyone specially from a supervisor. I ended up paying $300 extra for only 2 kg extra weight in my hand carry. I would recommend my whole family and friends not to choose this airline anymore."
Pros: "The staff was very friendly and the food is very good."
Cons: "The seats were very marrow and crammed"
Cons: "Food choice was limited. Entertainment choices were inadequate."
Pros: "Crew was supportive"

Cons: "Etihad food used to be very good. Say no more. Now their menu is just like any other airline."
Pros: "Good in-flight service. professional crew."
Cons: "Extremely strict on carry-on baggage weight policy. I wish I knew about this policy before going to the airport. Ended up paying $110 more, having to move stuff from my carry on bags to checked in luggage."
Pros: "Na"
Cons: "NA"
Pros: "Nothing special old Aircraft"
Cons: "Flight delayed for more than a hour & hand luggage asked us to handover at the time of boarding , very sad"
Pros: "Both ways not consistent in time When flight delayed in Abu Dhabi they treat you like Specially Etihad airways service is very poor. . Never again"
Pros: "The fact that the flights left on time and arrived on time."
Cons: "The seats were too uncomfortable, very hard and too small. The flight attendants were not very attentive. They did not make eye contact but when they did they were very nice, but with no eye contact it was not easy to get their attention."
Cons: "Vegetarian food not that good."
Pros: "Entertainment choices were good."
Cons: "Food was not up to par. It was quite dry. Like the curry served in vegetarian meal was very dry."
