There was very little room in the seats for economy class. When the passenger in front of you reclined their seat back it was in your face.

I miss the old swiss air this new airline is not the greatest.I am swiss travel back and forth between the us and Switzerland ten times a year and I really think swiss is the bare bones of airlines thank you

We got ice cream part way through the trip. I loved that we got a piece of Swiss chocolate on each leg of the journey. The crew was friendly. There was a screen at each seat where you could watch movies or TV, listen to music, or track your flight. The entertainment was free, and the crew provided free earphones. Blankets and pillows were provided."

The flight crew seemed to made up for much of the delay by flying faster or more directly so the total flight time did not increase by 30 minutes. The boarding process was chaotic at the gate - customs were there to check in but quite a few people were unaware (not many announcements). Also, the person in front of me kept reclining her seat and it went back too far. I didn't want to do the same to the person behind me so it was quite uncomfortable."

Cons: "Food was so so. Turkish offers free excursions into Istambul for passengers staying over 6 hours. The excursion departs at 12p.m. This flights arrives at 11.25 a.m., but the lines in immigration are stupidly long. We arrived at the counter at 12.15. In a very unfriendly way, they explained the excursion had left, and no possibilities for joining it in Town. So, we were stuck at the airport for several hours. How stupid is to offer an excursion to passengers in layover, but program a flight with 300 passengers to arrive just in time to miss the excursion? Somebody has to think this over. This excursion should leave at 12.30, and it would avoid dozens of passengers stuck and unhappy."

Cons: "According to the Turkish Airlines site they offer free accommodations to passengers who have over 10 hr layover in Istanbul if you are an economy passenger. I was under this impression that I would fall under this category because when I initially booked the ticket (JFK - IST - LIS and return LIS - IST - JFK) my layover back to JFK was 18 hours. Two weeks prior to leaving for my trip I received a notification saying that the layover will be extended to 34 hours. Seeing that my layover was extended, I thought that Turkish Airline would offer me accommodation for both nights. When I arrived to IST (10:30pm local time) I went to the Turkish Airline transfer desk in which they said they would not allow me to have the 2 nights accommodation. After about an hour and half of discussion they could only offer me one night accommodation and changed my flight to an earlier flight. The attendant who was serving me told me to wait by the kiosk until my name was called. At the 30 minute mark I tried to ask another kiosk attendant to see what the status was and he replied back in a very rude manner saying he has no idea what I'm referring to and that essentially was not his problem. After another hour and half of waiting and seeing other frustrated passengers going to the transfer desk and not being helped, I went on the queue to see what the status of my ticket was. They finally gave me my ticket and at this point it was close to 1am. Thankfully I did research before hand and under the assumption that I was going to spend a day in Istanbul, spent $20 and got a Turkish visa prior to my travel, which according the the turkish consulate website that you can no longer get a visa while in the airport. I finally reached the airport hotel at 2:30am but the airport shuttle was to arrive in 4 hours to shuttle all the passengers back. So not only did I deal with a rude staff, but I paid $20 to be in Turkey for about 4 hours in an airport hotel."

I enjoyed the hot towels they passed out after we reached altitude. The chicken dinner was delicious, the eggs for breakfast not so great (eggs should be eaten soon after cooking) perhaps pancakes and sausage have a longer shelf life. I also enjoyed the snacks that were available through out the flight. The The flight was on time and I had no problems connecting to my flight to Berlin. The Istanbul airport was very busy and I was pleased that the airport staff were helpful with directions."

Cons: "I was told the wrong flight time, wrong terminal, wrong gate, and wrong airline. I couldn't check-in online. It was horribly inconvenient and I nearly missed the flight. We got there with 5 minutes until the doors closed."

My screen didn’t work at my seat. Communication at Toronto airport between the two flights was non-existent. We were not given TSA precheck, we weren’t told we were going through US customs in Toronto, we were given instructions like go into that room and sit down. Really, really poor quality airport. Walkways were turned off, poor air conditioning, lack of food services, etc. I will try to avoid Toronto airport in future travels.

They've done it by inventing a new "basic economy" class which costs just what it used to cost to fly economy, only you don't get to pick your seats, don't get to bring a carry on, and can't check in for your flight without one of their staff verifying your personal item isn't secretly a carry-on."

We did end up taking that plane on to our destination two hours later, but it was the worst flight experience of my life."

I could not sleep because the flight attendants was wearing Christmas lights and they would wake me up and she keep bumping in to be be is she did not know how to walk in the isles. Pros: "First of all, the crew was amazing. I had just been traveling for about 20 hours and I had a seat towards the back of the economy section. After traveling that long, I was getting antsy to be at my destination, and I asked the gate agent if she could bump me to a row towards the front of economy- thankfully the plane wasn't full, and she was able to! It's the little things like that, that are what make me fly United. Also, the cabin crew on the flight was great! Of course, the economy section of the plane wasn't an ideal amount of space, but come on- it was an hour flight, and they did a good job of trying to spread people out so that the rows weren't packed."

They were older and didn't realize that once we pushed off you had to remain in your seat and she came and told them they were breaking the law and would be arrested for standing up, in such a nasty tone they didn't say another word the whole flight. When we were offered something to drink they declined. I jumped out of my seat realized I forgot to ask where the bags were placed that were collected on the jet bridge and went back to ask if they were in baggage claim or not and she yelled at me for turning around and told me she could not speak me because I had exited the plane already."

We were told to exit the plane and go to another terminal but never explaned to take the shuttle . I took the Tran and had to go back through security and almost missed the plane. I was the last person to board. This was my 1st time traveling to that airport. No way to know that the Tran would require me to pass through security checkpoint again. Get better communication with people. The lady at the desk was just saying go to terminal A! They should have had a person directing all of us to go to the shuttle and bussed us to the terminal."

We finally took off only to be rerouted to Lome instead of Accra which took an additional 2 hours. The whole thing took an extra 7 hours. From 11am to 12:55 pm we were provided only 1 meal and ice cream. The staff were not apologetic at all, they said if we wanted to be mad at someone it should be the weather... They should probably go back to customer service school."

He was saying it was hard for the crew to have to charge, but they were made to do it now, and what would it look like if other passengers saw him giving me the water and not charging?! OMG!"

They also listed the delay at just under 3 hours, rather than the real 3.5 we were late leaving the gate (to avoid giving out vouchers, I suspect)."

Why didn't the airline tell us upon check-in, or even announce to the passengers on the aircraft that the bags had not been loaded? This would have saved everyone 10 hours later to try to figure out what happened."

Cons: "My flight was scheduled to leave at 6:20 pm 06/08/16. Took off at scheduled departure time but an hour into the flight had to turn around due to navigation system not working (2hrs flying time). Navigation was fixed, took off for 2nd time at 10 pm, fell asleep, awoke at 3 am to a messge over the intercom stating navigation had went out again and we had once again turned around and we were just outside of Chicago (6 hours flying time). I spent 8 hrs on a plane to fly to my origin airport. This was my first overseas flight and my first time flying with United. I got a frozen turkey sandwich and sorbert for dinner. I have been placed on an American Airline flight leaving at 8:50 am but I needed to be in London at my scheduled arrival time. I've lost approximeny 14 hrs of my trip including irreplaceable reservations that I've missed as well as very important time with my significant other that I get to see once every 2 months. I took off unpaid vacation time for this trip as well. Please contact me via email or cell phone to discuss what sort of compensation can be done for this very unfortunate chain of events."
