The hotel is modern, with large clean rooms. Located in short walking distance to the center of Alba.
the light airy decor of the room matched with a fair degree of comfort.
Very close to downtown Alba.
The room space and the wine list in the restaurant.
Good room and parking facilities, restaurant with excellent food. Close to the old city, walking distance.
Large and confortable room. A bit expensive for this area.
The best thing was the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff. The room was clean, quiet, large and near the city centre for walking.
We enjoyed our stay very much, it was so welcoming, its closeness to the centre was excellent.
It was quite close to the bus station and close to Piedmont's wine country. The breakfast was okay and the staff helped us get into a wine tour. The interior, while fine, was dated. There wasn't any public transportation readily available for us in Alba so our trip to a winery was 20 Euros each way for essentially a 5-minute car ride. If we were to do it again, we would have just rented a car from Turin for the day and driven down to Alba (or Asti or whichever vineyard you found). The added benefit to this would have been the ability to enjoy the rolling hills and vineyards all around that area.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Very nice spacious rooms Hotel a bit hidden away.
The Manager/Owner was great and went out of his way to help us - dropped us off in town in his car. Nice surroundings, very quite. Only hicup was the office girl said she set our wake up call - we wanted to leave by 6 am. No wake up call came through, but fortunately we woke up ourselves, but it was then a mad rush to get to the airport on time and very stressful.
Perfect!! Wish I could stay longer...
The most outstanding thing about the hotel was Nico, who was an outstanding host. He is an expert on local restaurants and sights, and an extremely hospitable and sociable guy. There was nothing we would say we didn't like.
Hotel staff and room Rooms did not have air conditioning (cooling) no screens on windows
The owner / manager is a delightful gentleman named Nico. He remembered us from about 6 years ago and his attention to detail is remarkable. Location feels secluded and the rooms are quite modern and comfortable. Nico can be counted on to give delicious recommendations of nearby italian restaurants. Super value for what feels like a charming boutique hotel.
The hotel is very pleasantly set just outside Alba looking over the countryside with a stream running past under our balcony. It has been recently renovated with the effective use of much bare steelwork including chairs and railings that had been allowed to rust then treated and waxed. We had a large room with a very modern bathroom, air conditioning and Internet access in the room. The owner was No
we had a lovely room, a great bathroom, the hotel was silent, the staff was professional and very friendly and we even got a welcome drink and a gift when we checked out! this is a perfect hotel and I would surely stay here again and recommend to everybody! Maybe the neighbourhood was a bit uncosy but that is a minor detail
The character of the "owner" patron and the charisma of the entire hotel. unfortunately industrial construction over whelms this hotel location, however a gem when considered it is in town - bicycles are avaiiable for loan. They even offered a free pick up from the station.... wonderful.
We stayed for 1 night in this hotel, but had a very positive experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They even managed to book a table at Piazza Duomo restaurant for us.
Very friendly staff, good location for a city trip, inside parking rooms rather basic, roadside rooms very noisy, Aircondition not working
The location is very good, near both the train station and the "old town." The front desk staff (with one exception) was excellent - very friendly, offering to make dinner reservations, etc. Breakfast was very nice. The room was a little small, and the bed/pillows were hard as a rock. There was one man at the front desk who was downright unfriedly; I was visiting my daughter who lives in town, and he wouldn't let her come up to the room without a passport. He didn't seem to believe that I was using the room as a single room.
Location Initial welcom at reception.
A nice hotel not worth the money for it. Not worth the money.
Staff was very helpful and friendly, location, restaurant, bathroom beds could have been more comfortable
We were impressed by the young man on the reception desk at the time of our arrival. He could not have been more helpful and friendly. The pillows on our bed were hard and uncomfortable. The shower room was small and over furnished. The shower cubicle itself was old and uninviting.
good location, spacious room not really
Perfekt location, clean room, private parking. The breakfast could have been a bit bigger.
Proximity to Barolo wine region, fine dining, and beautiful scenery. Good breakfast at hotel, no hassles. Wi-fi only available in lobby.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room including the bathroom were very clean. The location was perfect.
Excellent service - the staff was very friendly and well trained. The rooms were absolutely beautiful and the view unbelievable. They pay a lot of attention to details which makes it a very special experience. Are you kidding me? It was perfect!
Excellent kitchen. Beatiful room. Stunningly situated on hilltop close to Alba. More than a hotel with a restaurant, Locanda del Pilone is a restaurant with hotelrooms.
The food was excellent and so was the wine list. Breakfast was a pleasure. The staff young and friendly. A free internet wi-fi connection. The room was not on the same level as the food.
Toured around the Piedmonte with visits to Barbaresco, Barolo, Alba
The view was incredible, pleasant personnel, esp Saviero. Good food, excellent wines, great rooms.
Lovely small hotel with great attention to detail, including staff; delightful rooms, magnificent vineyard vistas. Sorry to miss the Michelin star restaurant (closed on Tuesdays). Well recommend the area for wine lovers and the hotel for comfort and personal attention.
Friendly staff, nice place and outstanding food, it was a perfect stay. The lightning is a bit low in the bath room
The hotel was in a stunning setting , surrounder by beautiful vineyards. The restaurant was wonderful, fabulous local specialities in a glamerous and intimate setting. The breakfast was exceptional.Rooms were simple but very pleasant and had everything you could need. The beautiful town of Alba only a few km away.
Absolutely beautiful hotel, open two years. Hotel is situated near the village of Serralunga D'Alba, on a hillside overlooking the Barolo wine region. Very close to the city of Alba, which is a medieval treasure. Our room was extremely nice, and had the only real bathroom of any place we stayed on our trip. Very comfortable and quiet. The restaurant faces into a Barolo vineyard. The owner Ricardo supervises everything, and makes sure that everything is perfect. The restaurant serves only locally grown and produced ingredients that are prepared wonderfully. I cannot describe how nice this place really is. I can imagine during picking season this place would be spectacular.
Although we were there during the off-season the staff was extremely helpful and made our stay really enjoiable
The views are stunning, the restaurant terrace is perfect, the room we had was large with a private balcony overlooking the pool and vineyards. good beakfast. Very enjoyable. We would have preferred a more traditional and local menu in this beautiful setting - one with less twist - although some dishes, particularly deserts, were excellent
Very good hotel with friendly people. The room was very nice en spacious. One of the best showers ever in a hotel. Breakfast was also very good. We did not eat in the hotel, but the menu looked good and we were told by other people that the food was good. The hotel has a wonderfull view over the hills with the vineyards.
outstanding quality; perfect quisine; impressive wine list; located in heart of Barolo wine region
The hotel has a fantastic location in the middle of the Piemonte wine area, close to Barolo and La Morra. The view from the rooms is fantastic and the terrasse of the room suberb. Good breakfast buffet. We really enjoyed our stay. Only small disadvantage: if you want to go out for dinner you need a car to visit other restaurants as the distance to the closest village (Serralunga d'Alba) is about 2 km and too dangerous to walk in the night (small road, no lights). For the season it was very cold, only 5 degrees. There was no room heating on, only after our request it was switched on. For a 4 star hotel this should be done automatically, not after letting guests "freeze" for two days. You also would expect a better soundproof room for this class of a hotel, you can easily hear people talking in the next room.
The staff speciallt the manager
We had a bit of mixup with our reservation. The manager immediatly reconized this and was quick and extremly generous in fixing the problem. The hotle has a lovely setting with very large rooms. Also he arranged for us to go to an excellent restaurant even though they have a lovely restaruant at the hotel.
The hotel is beautifully located on a hill over Castiglione Falletto, the swimmingpool is very refreshing on hot summer days, breakfast is on the terrasse overlooking the vineyards.
enjoyed very much this villa, excelent service and stuff especialy the guy who runs the hotel. none
It is a great place to explore the nearby rolling hills of the region and experience their wines. The hotel is very rustic and may not be for everyone. The owner is a character and entertains his guests with his beautiful singing voice at the piano ... The breakfast could be better. I was there for two days only and had the same 2 little cheeses and the 1 local raw salami. It could be just slightly updated with very little effort. My room was not done when I returned from a long day at 6.00 pm.
Very nice and charming hotel, romantic rooms and very friendly and helpfull staff. Good diners and choice of very good but affordable wines. Ideal location to visit the region of Alba, Asti and all (wine) villages. Super swimming pool!
very helpfull staff and excellent rooms. quiet location in the heart of piemonte and a good base to visit the area a pity that in the luxury bathrooms there is no decent shower only a jacuzzi bath. if you want to shower you have to do that sitting in the tub, not ideal!
Great location for exploring the wine region. Beautiful hotel and pool area. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Excellent, helpful and friendly staff. The evening meals in the hotel restaurant were very enjoyable and a good value. Would like to have wifi in the guest rooms.
Peaceful, quiet and relaxing great place to unwind. Good breakfasts and evening meals. Seemed a little unfinished in places.ie. the landscaping around the pool and gardens.
The facilities was great. And the swimmingpool with the jacussi was absolutely wonderful. More space for the sunchairs and more sunchairs would make it even better when many guests (also people which are not guests at the hotel) are using the pool. The owners are very friendly When we arrived we had no information about the facility and the services. The dinner was good but not fantastic and it was too expensive compared to other restaurants in this area. The breakfast could also be improved significantly with different kind of fresh bread, fresh pasteries etc.
The people there really made you feel special and a part of their family.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel its self was lovely, very clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent too.
Great indoor pool and lovely romantic setting. Was able to go for a swim even when the weather was cold outside. Good continental breakfast and great coffee. Had a superior deluxe room and it was still a little small.
The property is in excellent condition and the craftsmanship was impeccable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was wonderful however they need to put towels in the pool area/changing rooms. With a few small touches and attention to detail this property could easily move into the 4 star category. While breakfast was nice, it was not impressive and with the addition of a few more items would have been spectacular. The rooms are quaint and basic but seem to be missing that extra something special.
Beautiful scenery, big parking lot, beautiful buildings and breakfast room, friendly helpful staff. Lovely location in middle of hazelnut orchard; however, no paths to walk. I had looked forward to walks in the countryside but you cannot do this from the hotel location.
The hotel was in a beautiful area of Piedmont. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is no place to walk in the vicinity.
The location, layout and design of the hotel. It will be better with the pool facility, coming in June 2007 and a restaurant would make the hotel just excellent.
The pool is phantastic, but it is only open after 10.30 a.m. Most of the people want to use the pool prior to 10.30 (e.g. before breakfast)
Very tasteful conversion blending the old with modern conveniences. Good breakfast. Spotlessly clean, nice pool and frienldy and helpful receptionist. Convenient location for touring. Lacks dining facilities but there are many very good restaurants in the area -take the recommendations by the reception for good quallity Piemontese food at reasonable prices.
The fabulous view.
The location and views from the hotel are very nice. The rooms are comfortable and warm. The staff could have been more informative about events going on in the town of Alba. Staff was not very friendly.
Staff were superb. Organised wine tours reservations for dinner with all their recommendations. Seriously good service, far better than a 5 star hotel!
It is a nice hotel near to Alba and the region Langhe.
Standard of rooms very high, well cleaned and also large size of rooms
Rita at reception speaks good english and is very helpful. Hotel is very peaceful and clean but without a car, very inconvenient. Alba is basically more expensive than other nearby regions in Piemonte. For example, in Asti, Aqui Terme, very comfortable hotels start at 40 euros and bus and train fares are ridiculously cheap. the location
The concierge / desk was very friendly, knowledged and helping in every way. Windows don't open, the air in the room was never fresh.
Excellent staff and quality of assistance in area
This hotel is a family business. Everyone has been very helpful and pleasant. Location is a bit off, but with a rented car and GPS, we can access the beautiful surrounding villages without any trouble. Only one English speaking person in the hotel. She only comes in a few hours a day. Not very convenient for us who speak very little Italian. There were some rather ugly looking insects in the room.
nice reception by family members and clean room. You need car du to distance to city the shower had nearly no pressure
close to the city of Alba
