The whole atmosphere was relaxing. Staff was very friendly. Definitely would recommend. Just floor layout. Long walk to room.
Everyone was nice. Hotel was nice. There was plenty to do right on the sight. Food was good. Couldn't get lamps next to beds to work. A little pricey considering we were spending money at the casino.
It is connected to the casino. It has many dining and bar options. It is located in a central location. the staff is friendly and helpful
The hotel rooms were very nice and clean but the staff wasn't so much. Unfriendly. At the hotel front desk, staff was rude and in the casino the floor bosses were so hateful to the dealers that it ruined the vibe.
The rooms are clean and spacious. No
The prices at the Café were reasonable. The room was comfortable and the floor was quiet. Stay wasn't long enough!
The hotel room was nit only beautiful but the beds and the linens were a nice quality. The movable desk was also very useful. The bathroom was spotless. This particular room had some marks on the wall that made them appear to be dirty but the room in general was very clean.
Beautiful rooms. Pleasant staff. Convenient next to adventureland. Love the buffet in the casino We walked down from our hotel to the restaurant in the casino that's connected by the gaming floor. I had left my drivers license in the room and had to walk aaaaall the way back to get it. Wish I would have known before hand.
Beautiful interior, Fantastic dinner buffet.
There is extremely little to like at the Motel 6 Altoona, IA. The Motel 6 in Altoona, IA has management that does not care. There is no friendliness, courtesy or graciousness among its staff. It's rooms are dirty. Don't care. It does not present you with the amenities it advertises that you are selecting to pay for. Don't care. The room is dirty. Don't care. There are bugs in the room. Don't care. WiFi is a fee then it is not working. You don't expect to pay then? Don't care. The room charge is too high considering the Motel 6 Altoona, IA is not providing what it bills you for. I know ... Staff Don't care. Find another place to stay.
Good location and Clean Small rooms. Bathroom was also very small. Breakfast area was too small and full of guess. Ended up going out for breakfast.
Pleasant hotel staff and a nice clean and quiet environment. It took quite a while to get warm water in the sin faucet, and the water pressure was very very low in same faucet.
It was easy to get to. You get what you pay for and I don't think I paid for house keeping because it was non existent. The toilet was stained brown, the bottom of the tub was dirty (I took a shower wearing flip flops), the floors were sticky, and the bed had a dip in the center. I had to stay here for 5 days and I would come back at the end of the work day with hair all over the bath counter, in the soap dish and in the tub. I was so grossed out that I bought my own cleaner with bleach and cleaned the room myself. It was the kind of place that I didn't want to tell the front desk because who knew what they would do to my things while I was gone. Can't say I took advantage of the breakfast that was included because if the room was any indication of what was coming out of the kitchen, I wasn't taking any chances. One good thing is that it is freeway close.... And you know that because you can hear it through the walls. Sorry, but if my company trys to puts me up there again, I'll pass and get a room somewhere else on my own dime. There are plenty other options in the area.
Free internet, breakfast, and access to a local gym are great. My non-smoking room smelled like smoke and irritated my allergies.
Full kitchen was nice if we needed to stay longer. Apartments converted into hotel. Pool was clean. Hot tub was just warm, mold on ceiling, bad urine smell in room, no sheets or blankets or pillows for the pull out bed.
We had a leak in the kitchen area and the bath tub could use some work
Newly renovated Exterior could use work
For the money, you can't get a better room, with as much space. The bath area is really private, set in the back of the room, not by the front door as per usual. Everything seemed faily clean. THe bed was not the newest but was comfortable. The common area for breakfast was very nice and attractive. WE didn't use the pool. In general the place is not being maintained. The entrance to our room was unsightly and falling apart. A bit scary actually. There is no attempt at landscaping anything. The bathroom floor was coming up where the shower water had seeped underneath. There was a spider on one of the pillows when we were getting ready for bed.
It was very clean and friendly Housekeeping woke up my son and my aunt even though we had no service on the door.
We really like the location and it really fits our shopping needs in the Des Moines, IA area. We stay at this location several times each year, actually every time we stay overnight in the Des Moines area. We were very disappointed with the aging condition of our room and the lack of upkeep of the property. Not only do we enjoyed staying at this location, but also at other Midwest USA locations. We were really shocked at the condition of our room!!!
Large space, friendly staff and good breakfast Road noise
The rooms were setup very nice and cozy . The staff was more than happy to help us with anything we needed and very friendly When we walked in the room and it had been cleaned but the trash had not been removed. They were quick about fixing the situation. The rooms could use some up keep
I really like the layout. The separate buildings gave it mountain resort feel, which I appreciated.
The website and a call to the motel in advance both stated that a crib would be available for our one year old. We were less than pleased when we arrived to find that what they meant was not actually a crib, but a pack n play. In my book, these two things are NOT equivalent. My daughter is an awesome sleeper but not accustomed to sleeping in a pack n play. If I had been told this when I called ahead earlier in the week, I would have brought ours from home, which would have been more comfortable for her. Other than this, the room and facilities were perfectly adaquate. This was our first family vacation, so having her not want to sleep until she basically passed out at 11 each night was not great for us to be able to enjoy the following day.
Nice lobby friendly Breakfast just ok. Hard to find
This is my second trip to this location, each visit just gets better. The staff that works in this establishment is VERY professional. Every interaction that we've had with Morgan, Linzey, and Brandon was just very individual and personal. I've stayed at A LOT of different places and when I think about when I have came here I just feel so good about my stay. The Customer Service is Genuine and not fake or rude, that alone is hard to come by........I LOVE THIS PLACE There were NO complaints........(LOVED EVERYTHING)
Price was good.
My stay was awesome I have a young son and the pool was clean and the room was nice and welcoming The staff at the rest. Was rude and we waited 20 minutes to sit down and then couldn't get more drinks and took 15 min. To get bill then was charged 8 dollars for my son to eat two bites of fruit the hotel was awesome but I'll never eat at the restaurant ever
The hotel has a good location. It is close to shopping and the interstate. The room was clean & comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to pay for Wifi in your room.
It was a privilege to stay here. The staff was friendly abd nice, the room amazing. The hit breakfast was better then I expected. Overall awesome place.
Big room. Clean and friendly staff Limited parking
Location to Airport, Cleanliness, staff was fantastic!!!!!!
The room was clean. Breakfast included was very well done. Lots of great options offered and food was fresh. Not well updated. No ice machine in whole building. Existing ice machine has obviously been out service for weeks. There was actual dust. Room was not a good value.
Not fancy, but very clean and quiet with good amenities.
even though this is not a 4 star or a 5 star hotel the staff from day one went above and beyond to make me and my guest feel comfortable. on days that we really did not want to get going early in the morning it was nice to just lounge around there at the hotel and then in the afternoon go sightseeing. the front desk lady by the name of Lindsey was fantastic. she was awesome and really caring we actually became friends while I was staying there.
everyone there was very friendly. many amenity. very clean I cant say anything bad. it was awesome
Very clean, the pool was warm which was a plus. The guy in the breakfast area was a little over the top. He was a bit growley pushing people through like cattle.
Way cleaner and nicer than the reviews led on You have to make a dangerous U-Turn to get to the hotel from one direction.
I was passing through town and wanted a place on the east side of town. The location was convienant and the facility was very nice. The whole property was very well maintained and the room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and didn't act like it was just a job, like so many do these days.
Distance from the theme park was reasonable - easy to find and get around. The front desk help was rude and unwelcoming. Didn't even greet me when I came in the door and approached the desk and didn't speak much when she was checking me in. She barely took the time to indicate which room we were in or provide directions.
Location and clean
Fairly close to where our activities were located. Could have had a little bigger breakfast to choose from. A little pricey.
Friendly staff, good room location. The elevator and hallways were in need of an update a d a good cleaning.
The staff was excellant, very friendly & helpfull. The hotel was CLEAN!! No
They were courteous ..yes. They did not quite explain well the difference of priceline's reservation I had acquired and the sign in price shown me. dlh It was a little further out then expected, but was convenient to the casino in drive and golf course. dlh
Hottub & free breakfast! & free wifi! Nice bathrooms & the front lady was very friendly & welcoming. She helped us with getting extra towels, as we were on a girls weekend! She also informed us of the free shuttle to the casino! Love the noon checkout! We wanted to use the hottub again in the morning before we checked out, but it was being cleaned when we went down @ 10:30am... The pool felt nice though.

The staff was terrific. Answered every question we had and then some. We had issues with soccer kids in room above us, no parents around for some reason and they were being obnoxious at 11 p.m. Security dealt with it quickly.
Location is convenient and easy to get to. Just outside Des Moines. Bid for best price, so got HC accessible room. A/C was noisy, but nice night to have window open anyway. Unfortunately, the smokers bench was right outside my window so the choice was second hand smoke or noisy p-tac. I opted for the latter.
I didn't like the fact that I couldn't cancel one night since my husband got out of the hospital a day early. This is because I got it through kayak through orbitz. I will go directly through the hotel next time I need to stay.
Great location, and excellent customer service. Heat worked well, and loved the free Wi-Fi.
The room was spacious and clean. It was also very quiet.
Location Non smoking room that smelled like the ashtray was emptied just before we arrived.
Nice clean room. Big enough for two. Grandchildren came and spent the night with is Dogs barking in hall
I keep staying here and it's like my home base in Des Moines
Friendly helpful staff ready to provide assistance and guidance. Found the location in close proximity to the the airport and interstate. Dining was not the best in the vicinity of the hotel (not the hotels fault) but found the hotel's restaurant especially the breakfast to be exceptional. The breakfast wait staff were among the best I've experienced at a hotel restaurant. The suites could use an upgrade/redecoration.
The hotel was beautiful and in a great location, my room also had a great view!
Everything about this hotel was fantastic! New construction and facilities made for a great stay. The staff was respectful and accommodating in every possible fashion. Thrilled to have been able to stay here and be so close to downtown Des Moines for the Des Moines marathon! If I come back to downtown Des Moines for a weekend getaway this will be where I stay.
New so spotless, but located close to train tracks. And the trains come through overnight. We were there in February, and our fourth-floor room was overly warm. Had to turn on A/C! Our double room was smallish, but had a great river view. Staff is best feature -- courteous, solicitous and friendly. I called later about an item we left behind. They located it and helped arrange to ship it back to us. I would stay again.
I just spent the one night, but everything was nice and clean. Also the view of the river was great. I would stay here again.
location to downtown activities were great. Rude Manager that would not honor an email I received that confirmed a sleeper sofa. We were up charged for a roll a way bed. The staff was not knowledgeable about downtown events or directions.
Beautiful rooms Fireplace Chef at breakfast to make omelette and waffles to order Great breakfast selection Parking garage across the street
Big rooms Break fast, parking
Warm, European feel Cold fries with room service meal
Mistakes in room service meal
no elevator or steps in the middle of the hotel going up to the second floor
The location was nice and surrounded by nice restaurant's Noticed the comforters had stains on them. They were clean just stained.

Close to everything we needed. Food & Entertainment !
The staff was very nice.
Location Room smelled like smoke. Dirty sheets on hideabed. Had to wait for hot food for breakfast. Pool very small and didn't allow food and drink in pool area. Floor around pool was way too slippery.
Good price for what we needed - a restful stop! Comfortable and clean King sized bed and a decent size room. The breakfast was ok. Pretty basic options and not so real eggs. But it filled us up for the next part of our trip.

The staff were friendly. The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of options and was fresh. It was perfect distance from the fairgrounds. We liked it all.
Close to our destination Linen was clean and sink, tub and toilet but not the floors.
It was cheap and good enough to sleep in without worry. Needs another Ice Machine and vending on second floor
It was close to my conference center. The outside was a little run down.
Front desk at check in was great. Manager was very helpful when I asked to change rooms due to construction noise. Construction noise. Service in the bar was truly awful. It was so bad I thought it might be a candid camera setup to see how customers reacted. The
Clean and comfortable. Every thing was good.
Very comfortable and the environment was nice. Wifi didn't work in our room (325)
Large, clean room Good people
The email for preferences was perfect!
Friendly and helpful staff - both front desk and valet; helpful with directions and made a couple of good restaurant recommendations; Location convenient for an event my wife and I attended during our stay and the valet shuttle included at no additional cost was helpful. Nice breakfast offerings. While I got lucky with a dynamite parking spot in front of the hotel for the weekend and didn't need to move my car, the notion of valet parking for $15 per night was distasteful (I know it can be much more in major coastal cities). Sunday morning breakfast should not end at 10 a.m. - it should run at least until 11.
The room was so luxurious & the staff was amazing! The free breakfast was delicious! We loved staying at the Hyatt! Would definitely recommend & stay there again! The difficult parking, didn't find a spot & had to use valet
it was a beautiful hotel, superior service, with very spacious rooms I wish it could be more affordable, I would definitely stay more often.
Complimentary drinks, snacks and great breakfast!
Like most Embassy Suites, a very nice property, suites with plenty of room, great beds and bedding. Very disappointed in a $10 daily charge for Wi-fi - even for Hilton Honors members (except the two highest levels). Considering other quality downtown Des Moines hotels priced similarly, but with free Wi-fi access, this is typically a difference-maker for us. Also annoying, if you miss the complimentary breakfast (finishes at 9 AM), you are charged $3 per cup of coffee -- again, unlike other similarly priced downtown Des Moines hotels. Not a deal-breaker, but still seems kind of ridiculous.
As always...the breakfast! Forced valet that did not park vehicle in a covered garage but rather on a side street during a snow storm for a $25/night charge. I was told all about the city selling parking lot to private investor who is building a parking garage but that is not my problem. If you don't have acceptable parking options don't charge me a premium to park. Inadequate parking options just aren't acceptable and we'll look for another place to stay next time.
Greater location, rooms, and friendly staff. The hotel bar and staff leave a lot to be desired!
location was good, room was clean breakfast, as always at an Embassy, was excellent, especially great for kids. Valet parking at a very high (for the market price) was the only parking option. Room was warm and musty, didn't cool well.
not very friendly
Great view, lovely space. Cost: clearly had upped their rates because the bar exam was being offered in their building.
I was on a business trip so the downtown location worked out well for me. No
The location - on the river (I love water), our room had a view of the river and the distance between the hotel and Nolan Plaza - our day destination - only three blocks from each other - also hotel was easy to find
bed was comfortable. room was clean. decent location for shopping at jordan creek mall. the price compared to the quality of the hotel is not appropriate. i have stayed at much nicer hotels for quite a bit less money. Pictures make this hotel look great, but it is only decent. Wifi was awful, had to use cellular data instead. Biggest problem was we checked in around 5:30, then left for dinner and shopping. when returning around 9:30 we attempted to access our room but our key would not work. we went to the front desk and they informed us they had put us in the wrong room when we checked in, and they had moved our stuff. Extremely disappointing they did not call to notify us or let us know when we walked past the front desk upon our return. quite embarrassing to try to access a room that other people were occupying. there are 2 other hotels right next to this one, i suggest saving some money and frustration and staying at one of those instead.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly. There were quite of few strands of hair in the bed that did not belong my girlfriend or myself.
Bery clean. Comfortable
