Very clean, polite and perfect for what I was looking for. No, nothing except it would have been nice to have Wi-fi in the room not just the looby/restaurant area.
Very modern hotel with excellent in room facilities - fully equipped kitchen - well designed rooms - great shower - roomy, bright, airy feel to the place - Very good breakfast buffet. Electronic safe in each room which would normally be provided free of charge (in Irish hotels) costs approx €2.40 per day - not the money at issue here but we had just paid €640 for the weeks stay and then had to go back down to reception to "fork out" again for something that would normally be included.
Everything was excellent, - rooms, staff, pool, location. Best hotel I have seen in Algarve ! By miles..... Well, the restaurant could have stayed open a bit longer. Guess it will during high season.
Beautiful hotel apartments the best i have stayed in. So clean and clean towels every day. Everything you need in a kitchen Kettle, microwave, toaster, iron, etc ...and a big fridge. The bed was beautiful with plasma TV which you could swing around to watch in bed or on the sofa. Its as nice if not better that the photo on web page. Everthing was great we had a pool view which got the sun in the morning up until noon. When i retrun next time i will ask for a carpark view as the sun was here all evening and the balcony was huge and it would have been nice to sit out in the evening sun.
Loved the design , spacious rooms , comfortable, breakfast was ok . Staff could be more nice and helpful ! The room was not ready at 2 o'clock , check in time !!! For a 4 star hotel , it 's not admissible !!! Location not so great .
Hotel was modern and well presented in all areas, with spacious, well equipped accommodation. Buffet breakfast was superb, with great selection. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We loved the relaxed, tranquil atmosphere of this hotel. The pool area is functional but unimaginative in design. Landscaping around hotel is a bit sparse and not very well maintained in places (lots of weeds), which is out of keeping with high standards throughout the other areas of the hotel.
I enjoyed the cleanliness of the room and the facilities. Breakfast was excellent!
no service at the pool, could not even buy an ice cream
Hotel was modern, rooms excellent and breakfast excellent. Did not eat in the restaurant. Away without kids so nice and quiet to relax. Not really suited for children. About 20 mins walk to centra of Alvor. Not really, however a suggestion would be to have a couple of more English channells on the TV. Hotel was quiet, maybe half booked so there was no social atmosphere in the Hotel/Bar.
It's calm, the rooms have a good design, the breakfast is very good with a lot of variety. The hotel is new, however the walls of the apartment were in bad shape. The breakfast have a lot of variety and it's served until 10am, however at 9am there were no more croissants and some other food and they didn't replace it.
The location of the hotel, literally a handful of steps from the beach, could not have been better. Although we booked B&B we chose to have our first night's dinner in the hotel & were so impressed by the quality & variety of the food we eventually ate in every night of our stay there. The route between the hotel & centre of Alvor left something to be desired. The pavements, in places, were poor or did not exist & the 10 - 15 minute walk was through a poor collection of modern holiday dwellings & retail units, many of which unoccupied. There were also a number of high rise tower blocks immediately adjacent to the resort which spoiled its appearance.
excellent service from hotel staff this together with superb breakfasts made my stay an enjoyable one. would recommend to friends nd family thought the bathroom facilities were a bit dated and needed upgrading
Design and cleanliness of rooms and hotel in general coupled with excellent location. thought eveneing entertainment could be better
check-in is at 14:00, but we waited until 15:00
Hotel is old. Stuff was laizy or there is not enough of stuff to clean room in time. I hope next year after removation it would be much better.
It was only a short working visit but the staff were pleasant and helpfull, the breakfast good and the beach location excellent
We liked the renovations to the rooms, especially the big window to make the bathroom lighter Unfortunately not all the work was complete, no indoor pool yet. No internet connection but we could go to alternative hotels for these
The location is fantastic. It sometimes seems like a senior-citizen resort with the age gap of guests
the place no
breakfast was very poor
The room and the view was fantastic yes we did not have an iron in the room:)
The breakfast. The quality of the bed The room was awful in terms of decoration (clearly not suitable for a 4 star hotel). The air conditioned didn't work properly. The water pressure was low.
Central location, 5 star service, as my wife is a wheelchair user the manager had upgraded us to a larger room with full sea view, reserved us a private parking space and without any prompting left us a complimentary basket of friut for my birthday. Disabled facilities not very good, no rooms with a walk in shower
The hotel is situated in the centre of praia da rocha and is 500m from one of the finest beaches in europe. Only down side the beds are single 2 single beds pushed together to make a double.
Location is excellent Hotel Staff could have been a little bit friendly especially on front desk. When we arrived at front desk our small child got very sick & the Staff on reception did not do anything to help or assist. Not very customer friendly. Staff in breakfast room were a bit better & the staff in the Jupiter Spa were very polite & friendly.
The convenience to all the shops and the closeness to the motorway Very poor equipment in the gymnasium and the fact you had to pay to use the spa facilities.
The staff were extremely helpful
Lovely Hotel, spotlessly clean, with good friendly staff. There is an excellent spa and the location which is practically on the beach is an ideal spot for sunbathing or walking because of the boardwalk which is the full length of the beach. There was nothing that I didn't like.
Cleansiness, centrally located, close to beach, great sea view, room size. Small pool, poor quality breakfast, unfriendly staff, hidden costs- i.e. no iron resulting in having to pay for laundry.
As I was holidaying on my own I felt very safe and the staff were very helpful. I didn't have a balcony. I would book sea view next time.
The pool was warm and clean. Not up to 5 star standard. Breakfast very poor for vegitarians. Hotel and Casino look tired and need updating.
Reception Staff could br friendlier
The see view.
Location the hotel in its self was ok the room was shocking
the hotel is in the heart of the resort with easy access to all facilities
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel due to the location and standard of the hotel
Good breakfast, nice room, Nice staff, good outdoor area, nice terrace with bar just inside the door. They had a very poor wifi system, it didn`t work in my room, I needed to sit in the lobby with my laptop. This is a 5 star hotel? And of course it should work in the rooms as well.
Close to the beach.Comfort and staff so friendly.
The view from the hotel is fantasric, great prices for food, in and around the hotel It was a bit old fashioned
pools facilities excellent room need updating
Everything Just the toaster
The beach The room was never cleaned properly.
The apartment was resently renovated and very stylish decorated. The sea view wath breathtaking. The hotel area is beatiful and very close to the beach. The restaurants are very good.
the facilities rooms very old and shabby also having to pay for gym
location in a cliff top village gives you that exclusive club type feeling in house prices on food and drink a little high
Great location during the last week of october
The hotel is excellent. It stays inside a condominium. You can reach the beach (who is gorgeous) by walking 2 or 3 minutes inside this condominium. There are a lot of restaurants close to the hotel (including in the beach) with good prices. There is a supermarket close too (but the prices are a little bit expensive). The location is a little bit far from the center of the city but is easy reachable by bus (there are buses every 15 min until 12:00pm) or taxi. I really loved the hotel and the beach and I strongly recommended it.
location and pool on cliff top area room although clean, was very tired looking, needs new furnitureand re-vamp not comfortable bed. charged to use gym
Hotel pool facility was good. TV in room did not work properly. I thought charging per night for a baby cot was somewhat mean. In addition, we had to leave a day early and still had to pay for the cot for the unused night.
Great location. Free internet. Very helpful staff. Missing wifi
Excellent location of the hotel, very kind staff, new equipment of the facilities, very clean facilities... Great location for visiting several beaches in Algarve! Breakfast should be improved (poor selection).
Lovely hotel, modern and very clean. It is ideally located beside beach and in close proximity to shops restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend Rocha Hotel Apartamento to family and friends. The buffet breakfast provided a wide variety of breakfast dishes - the only criticism I would have is that the hot food section was by no means warm let alone hot!!
A brand new Hotel with great design ans style in the centre of Praia da Rocha in Portimao right on the beach with private parking..I advise staying in the junior suites, just perfect. Nothing,
great friendly service. excellent clean modern contemporary decor. locatino is awesome. not the hotels fault but the music from the hotel across the road was very annoying.
Proximity to the beach was good and rooms were big and comfortable, bathroom well equipped. Some of the female staff at reception were a bit rude - some customer service skills would be of benefit to them
Perfect location , the strip that it is on is fantastic for restaurants and shops. The views are beautiful. The pool does not get much sun and No Wifi at present.
everything: exelent location, staff, room facilities, plenty of space, pacefull atmosphre, good internet acess, room designe.
great variety for the breakfast, lift very quick, very clean and bright, staff very helpful, reasonable priced. room for three using bed sofa there was very little space for coffee table
Modern well furnished room. Good breakfast selection Noise overnight from street as room was on ground floor. Pool small and as in basement had no outlook Hadn't booked car park and there is no parking adjacent to hotel
The reception staff were very helpful no complaints
Close to a good beach. The room was large and clean. The balcony was a great place to enjoy a good book.
We had a clean, comfortable room, a very nice choice for breakfast, and in general the Hotel is both convenient and relaxed/informal. We had no occasion to call upon the staff for any special requests, but are confident that if we had done so, we would have received a swift and efficient response. Due to travel difficulties we arrived at the Hotel after 10 p.m., as did two other couples. The restaurants were closed and room service finished at 10 p.m. All that was available for us, therefore, in the way of refreshment was coffee which we could purchase at the Sunset Bar.
The large open spaces within the hotel grounds and the ample supply of sun-beds with free towels.
Very kind personnel. Very good food. The swimming pool is great. Location is good - quiet and close to the beach. No frigobar in the rooms. Room service does not have any hot food after 10pm.
The cleaning lady was very nice and did our room in a different hour so that our baby could take his nap on time. The outside pool was salt and not chlorine, which was great for our eyes and baby's skin. Great location and easy and nice private access to the beach. Great beach. The room was very large with a large bathroom. The TV was correctly sized for the room, had a nice channel selection and one channel with kids programs (BBC Four). Breakfast had a nice variety and was plenty. The pillows were very uncomfortable. The decor was outdated. Dinner was too expensive for what it offered (both a la carte and buffet). After 9 a.m. there was a queue to get table for breakfast. It was hard to get long chairs by the swimming pool because guests would "reserve" them with a towel in the early morning and keep it "reserved" throughout the day.
The position of the hotel was very good, with just a short walk to Alvor Harbour I was very upset that I could not use the indoor pool as it was undergoing maintenance and I booked the hotel because it had an indoor pool.the food in the main dinning room was not 4 star
Everything about the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was a bit of a srum.
its location by the beach, very comfortable. no
The location and the excellent facilities
Value for money, cleanliness and amount of space Location up steep hill not suited for elderly or physically unfit
Price was probably the only positive factor. Ground floor rooms with no natural light especially in the bedroom which looked out onto an internal courtyard which was noisy with people//birds.
location was brilliant.in the heart of Alvor and close to everything.pool was small but kids still enjoyed it.its partially in the shade which was great for kids to keep out of sun.pool room beside pool was great as we could keep an eye on kids.apartment was spotless and a nice size.staff were very helpful and very friendly.crazy golf on roof was great fun for kids. the only negative things (which were only minor)were that there didnt seem to be enough sunbeds and the sunbed area is quite small.our apartment was on the ground floor and there was alot of noise very early in morning which seemed to be mainly staff however i would still stay here again
Nice location near the city centre, just 5 min walk to the beach. Helpful staff and clean rooms.
Nice location ,nice staff the beds were not very good we had 11 year old staying with us and the spare bed was useless
Great location, a couple of minutes to the estuary and all the seafood restaurants and just over ten minutes walk to the beach
They had a lot of facilites for the children and I liked the lay out of the place
Great location close to all the restuarants/shops and a short walk from the beach. Accomodation is pretty basic but very clean and fit for purpose.
Great setting; fantastic golf; hotel with a lot of charm and personality; casual but professional lunch at the Cotton Club and a marvellous wine tasting dinner at the Grill restaurant on Nov 12! A fantastic experience. Need to rent a car if you want to escape
The swimming pool area is great! The staff at reception was not nice. And the rooms need to be renewed.
Superb surrondings, very charming hotel with tasteful decoration. Huge swimming pool. Very efficient service. And a super plus, fresh toals and private chaise-longs on the nearst beach. We just loved our stay. No free Wi-Fi; but that forced us to disconnect more :-)
Swiming pool and garden. If you are not a golf player, this is not a hotel to stay in. It is far from anywhere I.E. Alvor and Lagos. Rooms are average for 5 star hotels. No beach nearby. Their private beach is not good for swimming: too cold.
The beds were incredibly comfortable! We had booked a wine/pairing dinner hence decided to stay overnight. It was a nice event but we were both ill that night and the next day. At first we thought we'd had too much wine (a few glasses but I don't think more than anyone else at dinner). We mentioned at checkout feeling a bit rough but we still had mild food poisoning type symptoms the rest of the day and realised it was in fact 'in the stomach' and not a hangover! It was difficult to know what to do but we thought the chef ought to know in case it was bad seafood ? so we reported it to the hotel front desk later on 13th but she wasn't very helpful. It's not a complaint as we didn't ask her to do anything only to tell the chef and to be aware others might report symptoms.
The Garden, bathrooms very clean, nice linnens, entertainment, breakfast.
Five star atmosphere, lovely food. Good shuttle bus to the beach
The standard of housekeeping was very poor. Room not made up some days until late evening despite several calls to reception. Only on last day was this satisfactory.
Wen I arrive, the room that was reserved to me was very poor ( a two stars hotel dont have a room like that ). I made a complain and they change the room. But I think a 5 Stars Hotel can put a guess in a room like that, and if we go to a Hotel like this one, we never think that we must have to discuss the quality of a room
I have been visiting Penina for over 30 years now - it is truly a special place. The setting is spectacular, with immaculate golf courses, and beautiful garden areas. Facilites are superb and the staff are charming. With fewer than 200 rooms, the hotel never feels crowded. Highly recommended.
staff helpful and friendly / hotel grounds were superb / drinks were extremely expensive
I enjoyed easy access to the pool area. The views of the sea. The warm reception in the dining room for dinner and breakfast. The hotel enviornment felt very safe. Noise permeating from early morning risers as the wheels of suitacases could be heard. The piano for breakfast broke the peace of the morning. I would have liked a receipt for my food and drink also for my records. The airconditioning was not very efficient. The shower in my room was dissapointing and the shower curtain allowed the water to wet the floor. T.V reception was not great. I don't agree with it's five star rating, perhaps four.
We liked the location and the position of the hotel above the best under developed beach on the Algarve and the ability to acess the beach easily. The gymnasium facility was very basic and dated for a hotel of this star rating. It needs to be updated urgently.
Fantastic location, staff very professional and extremely kind and a very good breakfast no slippers included in the room
The location is fantastic at the most interesting end of the Tres Irmaos Beach and surrounded by some great restaurant options. Loved the options to partake in free classes run by the hotel and using the spa. Breakfast was a particular highlight of our stay.
The view was wonderful. staff gets annoyed if people want to contact other people staying at your sister hotels. Not clear on what is included with room.
The rooms have a lot of space. You can have breakfast and dinner outside with view on the swimming pool and the sea. The rooms were very good constructed - they stay cool during the day (even without a need to use the airconditioning). Only the hotel management, the staff at the reception and the higher staff in the restaurant understand English or French (few). The other staff (cleaning, restaurant, ...) only speaks Portugese. Some of the staff in the restaurant for breakfast isn't professional (for example the preparation of eggs). The swimming hasn't got a good water circulation system. The prices of consumation at the pool are too high (> 3 EUR for a bottle of mineral wather). Due to the fact that the hotel is situated in a beautiful green area, you need to walk a long time before you find a shop or supermarket. When you compare the hotel with other beach destionations like Gran Canaria for exemple, a lot of luxury in the hotel is rather common on other destinations or has a better price/quality (the Portugese Algarve region is in general expensive). The hotel is also used on one way or another for the selling of time sharing products.
The weather was amazing every day. The staff we very helpful. The hotel was close to a town which provided more options for food and drink. The guests were not the most friendly. Everyone kept to themselves. Did not like the idea of people reserving sunbeds by just placing a towel on it early in the morning and then not showing up until the middle of the afternoon. Very selfish.
The beach, the breakfast and the friendly staff Pillows were not very comfortable and the TV had poor reception.
Location It is definitely not a 5 star hotel but certainly charges 5 star prices. As a minimum in a 5 star hotel you expect a porter to collect your bags from the car. this never happened upon arrival or departure from the hotel. Also a 5 star hotel should be offering refreshments around the pool to guests, not have them have to go to the main bar and wait to be served.
Great hotel, wonderful location and beach. Very relaxing.. Towels changed every morning and evening.. Nothing at all..
location reception area was nice but ovearall the hotel bedrooms could do with a makeover, they are very basic for the money.
Air con, pool, breakfast Uncomfortable beds, rooms outdated and shabby, not really 4star in my opinion and very expensive for what you get, though I realise it's high season
Excellent low season value, beautiful hotel & convenient spot. Best breakfast ever. They forgot my wake up call the last night.
The location was good -- close to city center and bus station for day trips. The room was a good size. The bathroom was very small and it was not very clean.
Large, quiet room, close to town, shopping and restaurants. Very good buffet breakfast each morning and happy hour in the bar every evening. The beach club was also great.
Very nice facilities, Staff friendly and accommodations were very comfortable. The Wifi was awful!
very relaxing nothing
The room and the bed were comfortable once we had a second armchair. There was a good range of television channels for non-Portuguese speakers. The shower was good.Good fresh fruit at breakfast most days. The wardrobe smelt (of stale tobacco?) so that all our clothes needed washing once home. We had asked for a room with a pleasant view, our balcony was in a corner looking towards hotel buildings. The information about golf courses was confused and varied according to the member of staff on duty.
I liked the comfort, the good location, its fine breakfast, free Internet and indoors swimming pool No complaints whatsoever.
Location Bed is too firm
The ambiance in the hotel is very nice. The price was excellent and the staff was very helpful. Nice fitness area and pools. Tha I had to pay to use the fitness room.
Our room was located far away from central part of hotel with more 10 other rooms. It took us about 10-15 minutes to get to breakfast or reception. This was very, very uncomfortable. Beach was same about 10-15 min .. Room design was far from 4 starts hotel , i would say 3 stars.. very simple. Room was cleaned only at 16:00 .. to conclude , the hotel was very far from expectations we had...
in a quite area and located close to beautiful beaches
Very picturesque, clean, quiet and easily accessible (not loads of steps and long corridors to content with). Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and took us personally to our room when we checked in rather than just wave us in the general direction which was a nice touch. It was a nice start to the day to eat breakfast on the leafy veranda by the pool in the sun before wondering down to the D'Ana beach which was a 10 minute walk and was absolutely gorgous. The complex seemed very well maintained and our room was always very clean when we returned from the beach each evening. Waiting staff in the morning could be slow to clear the tables and it was not busy during the period we stayed there. Also, on occasions, some of the breakfast would be gone and not replenished even though there was still another 30 mins of breakfast and staff could be difficult to find to address this.
the "indoor swimming pool" is actually an outdoor pool with some sort of cover over the water... you can't use it in cool weather as you would expect from a proper indoor pool
Excellent breakfast even with champagne. Indoor heated pool when cold. Very friendly staff. Slightly far away from the town, about 20 minutes walking. To get to the very small beach you have to clamber the stairways.
Loveley place to have a relaxing holiday Clotch to wipe the bench would be appriciated in kitchen
Pleasant environment with nice grounds and and pools. Within walking distance of restaurants in old town.Good breakfast selection and facilities.
Good position, near to Lagos center and the beaches. Nice atmosphere, swimming-pools, good breakfast-buffet.
I like very nice designed rooms and very good breakfast bufet The staff of hotel deklare about Wi-fi internet, but it didn,t work often.
very good size studio villa, excellent breakfast, near the town and beaches.
Just everything. A Great Stay. I am not that spoiled.
Proximity to the beach. Swimming pool on site. Very good breakfast Overly expensive restaurant on site. We asked for a room for 4 people and the bed for the third and fourth persons was really uncomfortable.
Bad service; Dificult to find a place in swimming pool
Really nice hotel out of season (end of October). Down by the Marina front, with a close walk to the beach and lots of shops/resteraunts & the Praia Da Rocha strip. Its also not too far from the town of Portimao (15 minute walk). Marina was filled with boats but even on the windiest of days, you couldnt hear the rigging (thank god). Would defo go back and utilise some of the hotels many facilities. 2 Beds pushed togther to make one bed??? Just invest in some double beds, 2 singles pushed togther is rubbish
Excellent roomy accomodation for discount price. Worn towels (but clean!)
The location right next to the beach at Praia da Rocha is superb. The bathroom was showing signs of age, as there was mould around the bath and in the grout in the tiles
It would be better if the bedroom was separate to the rest of the room instead of like a studio .. i thought i was getting a junior suite
Location,breakfast,cleanliness,tranquility,facilities and staff.
Location excellent, the staff were more than helpful. The rooms have a small kitchenette and are ideal for making snacks. The complex is large built around a marina, the restaurant and bar facilities are in the central area quite a walk from some of the outer situated rooms
Comfortable apartment with a good restaurant attached. The view of the Marina was a bonus.
Clean, commy, friendly staff, great location, excellent value for money. attentative to detail. Fantastic weekend break
The hotel staff was really nice and helpful. The hotel is new, but a little bit hard to find even with a gps. Had nice dinner, not expensive, buffet, had good choice. Sound isolation is yet to improve, very slow internet in the public area, no wifi in the rooms.
The pool area was like paradise, maia praia was just a few minutes walk away, good location to the town, drinks and food were very reasonable, ample parking, and the hotel itself is very stylish!
I liked the modern design. All of the help were very polite and friendly. The rooms were every bit up to my satisfaction
Hotel very modern, newly built. Lovely grounds. Very suitable for families although great for couples too. Strawberry daiquiri in the bar the best in the world. Also spa therapists are very professional.
its nearnest to the sea.pool area very clean and steps made accessto pool very easy for everyone. did not like the foyer too large and bare.
Fantastic breakfast, very quiet out of season and pool/loungers wonderful. Right near the beautiful beach and rooms with a sea view well worth the extra cost (rooms at the back were really unappealing). The indoor pool cost extra, the decor (the pictures) in the main lobby were odd & unattractive (I did not like the 'fashion' theme). The spa/indoor pool was ok in design/atmosphere but not lovely and very small for number of potential guests to use it.
Very nice swimming pool They charged 7.50 euros extra for the room service (we ordered a tosta mixta of 5.50 euros) by mistake. They forgot to make the room, and when we got to the room at 8pm we had to tell and they didn´t like it at all because it was too late. Poor service. 10 min far from the beach.
nice modern hotel with splendid swimming pool, close from beach, big room slow internet even we paid for this
the hotel was bright modern and very clean. we were in room 2066. it was above the kitchens . it was impossible to sleep befor midnight when the noise stopped. if i had been staying longer i would have asked to be moved.
