Pros: The friendly personalised service and general atmosphere
Cons: A detail but there was no shower except in the bath - a detail I repeat!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The modest exterior, gives no hint or suggestion of what lay beyond the front door --- , a home filled with quality, grace and charm; the fixtures, furniture and fine art pieces all reflect thoughtful consideration and choices. likewise the breakfast, healthful and hearty, served in the cosy courtyard. Delightful !!!
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly and welcoming host. Lovely breakfast.
Cons: One of the hardest beds we have (kind of) slept on. Lack of a proper shower in the room. No physical separation of the WC from the sleeping area.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Christine gave us a warm welcome and her kindness and willingness to help with anything we needed continued for our whole stay. I can't guarantee it because I haven't eaten them all but I believe Christine offers the best breakfast in the whole of France and this despite my specific dietary requirements. The property was clean, comfortable and is well located.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This small hotel was just amazing. Loved it! Very comfortable. Hotel is full of charm and has relaxed style. Much better than expectations. The owners were so warm and welcoming. The breakfast, on the patio, was the best. Great place to stay if one likes a personal touch. This place is one of my all time favorites.
Cons: No complaints. All was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accommodation with superb bed linen
Cons: For me - the mattress on the bed was a little hard, but that is personal preference
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christine and her husband (and beautiful dog) were incredible. They were so very kind, warm and welcoming, and helped us with everything from restaurant bookings to bicycle hire/day trips. Go there!!! You will love it!

Very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, own hot tub and little patio as well as use of pool, hot tub and sunbathing area, secure parking for bikes (a must have to explore the island), 10 mins walk from almost deserted sandy beach, (can't vouch for peak season, we were there in mid Sept) 15 mins walk to village centre and restaurants, lovely friendly hosts.
Cons: Nothing!!
10.0 Excellent

Hôtel Fleur De Ré - Loix - Bedroom

Overview Reviews
Located in Loix, Hôtel Fleur de Ré is a 2-minute drive from Eco-Museum of Marais Salant and 6 minutes from La Couarde Beach. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful newly built apartment with patio/outside eating area. Comfortable bed, good shower, helpful staff. Parking nearby and a short walk to the town square.
Cons: The pool was adequate albeit a bit small and cold - but it was very welcome on a hot day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A friendly family run hotel which was spotlessly clean, beautifully designed and with lots of space. Excellent breakfast and we thought it was perfect. Would certainly return and recommend to everyone.
Cons: Nothing!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super nice staff, pleasant atmosphere and very close to shop/restaurant is the beautiful village of Loix Special note for the breakfast which is very high quality (great product etc) - no "hot meal" options though but we did not mind at all
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location good for village
Cons: Car parking a issue. No private car park. Outside seats not very comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean with modern decor and friendly staff
Cons: The location isnt the best, not many bars or restaurants nearby and they’d run out of bikes to rent
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast. The room. Easy parking. Dog friendly.
Cons: Nothing specially.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was our second stay in this hotel, and we were really happy to stay here again. We liked everything: the welcoming staff, the location, the room with a terrace and air-conditioning, breakfast, the swimming pool... However, the very best thing must be the bikes: you can rent bikes directly from the hotel, which is really great, and cycling in and around Loix is a marvellous way to spend a day or two! So relaxing a stay - cannot wait to return!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious apartment. well equipped for self catering. good swimming pool, bike hire on site. car parking within easy walking distance. staff were very helpful.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We liked its out-of-the-wayness. It's about a 40 min drive from the bridge from the mainland. The apartment was a 2 plus 2, a little cramped for family of four but perfect for a couple. Loix is a little off the beaten track so be prepared for a good bit of cycling to get anywhere, including to a sandy beach.
Cons: It's unclear whether the apartment is a serviced annex to the hotel or not e.g. there was no additional cleaning during our stay. I also was (unpleasantly) surprised that bike hire was not included in the cost of the apartment. The annex for all the apartments can look like a bike park at times.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff Very clean apartment Beautiful pool We will be staying again !!!

Pros: Pleasant little hotel in nice village with friendly and helpful staff.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was very welcoming and helpful with any requests! It is a charming place, away from all the crowded places of the island and still in the center of town!
6.8 Good
Pros: very large clean room
Cons: There wasn't a proper shower, just an attachment from the bath taps . Hotel very quiet so no staff available from 7pm - infact the hotel was locked up and in darkness!
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Shower in the bathtub was not ideal, would be better with a separate shower.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, beautiful courtyard, great location for the village, shops, restaurants, beach.
Cons: Breakfast was nice but a bit expensive for 13 each.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very welcoming, The room exceeded our expectation was spotlessly clean with clean towels and made beds everyday. Breakfast was delicious and value for money. Beautiful courtyard in the centre of the village. Secure parking for bikes at night. Easily accessible to cycle everywhere on the island. Free parking in public carpark a minute from hotel as we were there in September.
Cons: Nothing to dislike. Our French is not wonderful but there English was. You can eat snacks, cheeseboards salami, pate and cocktails there but there are plenty of restaurants throughout the Island if your appetite is larger.
Hôtel Le Sénéchal - Ars-en-Ré - Bedroom
6
8.7 Excellent (56 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hôtel Le Sénéchal places you in the heart of Ars-en-Re, steps from Saint-Etienne Church and 6 minutes by foot from Philippe Deschamps. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s location and the courtyard in the hotel. The staff were kind, but a bit distant. Got a little gift when we were leaving and that was a lovely touch.
Cons: The room was tiny, no shower, just a hand held one. Felt we were charged too much for the room we got. We didn’t have breakfast as it was very expensive and you could get breakfast across the road for half the price. We know Ile de Ré can be expensive but you do expect to get value for your money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely fabulous.Far exceeding our expectations. The staff could not do enough. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable.
Cons: We didn’t like leaving!!!The best “short stay “we have ever had.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place was beautiful, stylish and had a great charm. Interior design was fab. Excellent location, lovely staff.
Cons: Our room was small, no chest of drawers and only shelves instead of a wardrobe. There was a bath but no shower cubicle in our room but a shower hose on bath so ok. The main problome for us was our room was on ground floor, room 1 and the floor boards above were very creaky and thin so you could hear loud footsteps running about til very late and from very early in the morning above us.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was magical. It was so well decorated, with delicious breakfast and lovely comfortable beds. The team working there helped us with everything from booking taxis and restaurants, holding dog food in the fridge and sending forgotten clothing - they were fantastic! I totally recommend Le Senechal and the Ile de Re in general.
Cons: It was quite noisy outside which would rise up into the rooms.
7.0 Good
Pros: Ambience, originality.
Cons: Very small room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: both were very good and all the staff are brilliant.
Cons: our room had a shower, we would have preferred a bath, but not really a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is small but has a lovely courtyard and the room and bathroom were a good size
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located and yet quiet in the heart of the beautiful village. Charming and helpful staff. Breakfast "French style" (croissants, coffee/tea, fresh juice, a boiled egg).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, with newly refurbished rooms, several communal sitting areas, outside sitting area and pool. Very well sorted out and a great place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stylish interior design, fantastic location, great facilities and good for kids
Cons: Breakfast felt overpriced for what we received

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent variety for breakfast. All well organised.
Cons: nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is great The setting is very tranquil surrounded by woodland and vineyards. Our room was very clean and linen changed frequently (and I am very fussy about a clean bathroom)There are facilities at the hotel such as a pool, billiard and tennis tables Small selection of books and magazines and even a working piano! Lovely outside space for relaxing.Just 1km from Ars accessible by bike or walking. It's on the route de St Clement des Baleines easy access to the tip of the island to visit le Phare des Baleines. The hosts were very welcoming. The restaurant serves delicious imaginative food at a reasonable price. You can even order your lobster from the tank! Advisable to book. Buffet breakfast was good value and the hosts made sure there was a lot of it. The patron was in the restaurant every morning to explain to new guests where everything was. Liked that.Cycles are available to rent at the hotel on behalf of Les Cycles. Be aware that you need to pay for this separately in cash as this is not charged to your hotel bill. Parking is readily available.Really enjoyed our stay.and would happily return
Cons: There were not any tea or coffee making facilities. Just a small negative but it would have made a nice touch. Also the carpet looked a little bit tired
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Little private studio with patio area nice swimming pool good restaurant wood land area good parking
Cons: A little over priced but you are on the island
7.5 Good
Pros: Location. Nice grounds. Lovely pool. Allowed dogs. Very comfortable bed. Beautiful fresh white clean linen. Well cleaned daily.
Cons: Lack of tea/coffee in bedroom. Very poor WiFi. No English TV channels on bedroom TV. Tiny toilet, tiny shower
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful, family run hotel. Kids enjoyed using swimming pool, table tennis and pool table. 20 min walk to the closest beach. Village with shops and restaurants a few mins drive away.
Cons: Bathrooms are a little dated but functioned well
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff very helpful. English is limited and so we conversed in half french/ half English but that’s my weakness not the hotel. Nice little pool area which was quiet, rooms are fine and bathroom was good. Ground floor rooms had a patio door and seating outside which I liked. Dinner was good quality. Nice quiet location and not too far to walk to town although most people use cycles (I have forgotten how to ride one). Harder to find than I would have hoped even though it’s on the main road - my sat nav wasn’t quite accurate enough so I had to call the hotel.
Cons: Nothing I didn’t like really. Dinner isn’t cheap and possibly not geared for children. It could cost a lot for a family. The hotel itself is a little expensive but not for the area. The walk to town was ok, but no pavements for some of it and walking on the grass verge was fine but harder going than a pavement - possibly not good for those who struggle to walk on uneven surfaces.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: It’s right across the road from the beach, perfect location
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location
Cons: Bar and restaurant closed, no common area to relax. Expensive for what it was but that’s the Ile de Re for you
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely room in a beautiful location. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant.
7.0 Good
Pros: Different, rustic not for everyone.
Cons: No restaurant open, not advised in advance. Very remote & away from everything.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A warm welcome, with very clean premises and a room with a fair sea view. Very good breakfast, loved the croissants and coffee. Parking on site and a great beach across the road. Fabulous Lobster in the restaurant.
Cons: Service pushed the first night in the restaurant and menu limited.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Clean, comfortable and practical
Cons: I did a pre-paid booking, so I expected to be able to leave quickly, right after paying the local tourist tax. Actually the staff was disorganized, they had lost my proof of payment (that I fortunately had printed handy) and began to argue that I had to pay. It was just tedious to spend 20’ to prove that I was right and I left with a bad impression although the hotel itself is correct.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and interestingly designed. Very comfortable bed. The hotel entrance/ terrace area were very attractive with exotic plants and aviaries and we could sit outside for breakfast. Absolutely delicious cakes de la maison available at breakfast - have to be tried! Good coffee. Bike hire available at the property. The beach is just across the road - take care on the bend.
Cons: Had to be careful about the steep step down just inside the door of our room, but to be fair we were warned! The restaurant was closed the night we stayed due to a wedding. We would have appreciated prior notice of this as the reviews were good and we were looking forward to eating there.A minor point as everything else was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large clean comfortable room, great restaurant. On the ocean, we walked to the oyster beds at low tide. Easy to find.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Superb location for sea and wildlife, friendly staff. We paid a little extra for the largest room with balcony overlooking the sea - well worth it
Cons: Nothing really. All to our expectations.

6.8 Good
Pros: The location is perfect to be close to the beach
Cons: Family room is bit small & lay out is not comfortable
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Awesome location just a few steps from the beach, close to several good restaurants and the beautiful city market. Also right next to the bus stop so easy to get to a public transport. Neat rooms, great staff, especially manager Rafik. Merci beaucoup !
Cons: A small fridge in the room would be great
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very friendly helpful staff, clean and nicely furnished. On the doorstep of a lovely beach, plenty of restaurants, nice market, cycle path and bus stop.
Cons: Very low ceiling in the loft/bed area of our room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The guy on reception could not have been more helpful. He tried to arrange a taxi for us, made restaurant recommendations and booked a restaurant for us. When we were checking out we made enquiries about the nearby campsite for friends. He checked their website and gave us all the relevant information. While the room was basic it was very quirky and spotlessly clean. It was bright & airy. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection from the buffet.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. We were sorry we weren't staying longer.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite basic accommodation, arguably a little pricey given this, but superb location for exploring the island (this must be what you’re paying for) and less than a minute walk from beautiful beach. Also the staff, especially the main gentleman (didn’t catch his name) were extremely kind and welcoming. We had a wonderful holiday. Lovely pool as well, immaculately clean.
Cons: Mezzanine bedroom means you keep banging your head and would be good to have an iron.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean
Cons: We were very pleased with hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was in a quiet area a stones throw from the beach and within a few minutes walk of several restaurants. The studio with kitchenette was exceptionally clean and well equipped which made our stay very enjoyable. There is a lovely little pool to use and private free secure parking. We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly come back.
Cons: We had no problem with the stairs/ladder up to the mezzanine bedroom but some people may find it a little tricky, especially coming down! We thought it added to the charm of the place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service was exceptional - we were made to feel very welcome right from the outset - fantastic host :-) Lovely environment and great location near the beach, market and all La Courade has to offer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is very close to the beach and restaurants, the breakfast is nice
Cons: On the first floor it smelled really bad

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfast and quiet place to stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful place, small and well kept, with a great spa, a pleasant garden, well equiped rooms.
Cons: From what I had read, I thought there were yoga sessions in the hotel. I paid more for our room through booking.com than if I had booked the room directly from the hotel.
7.5 Good
Cons: The bathroom
6.8 Good
Pros: Lovelyvillage
Cons: Noise of church bells and market setting up.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location,ambience garden fabulous
Cons: Tea/ coffee supplies, fridge for goods purchased
7.5 Good
Pros: OK, We made last minute booking as tent destroyed by falling cones and bitten by bugs badly. So last room in Hotel and a reasonable price. Hotel well presented and quite chic. Garden very nice to sit out and read a book. Very nice resturant within yards which we ate for 4 nights in trot - Lovely food. Would have been very quite but venue tent on waste ground on edge of village. Lovely venue and had great music, band, friendly people, IPA beer. Made the stay. Had great nights up there dancing, etc.
Cons: OK, ours was the last room and for what we paid good value. It was however a bit dark and the main window opened to the village square. It was also the start of the French main holiday period so lots of excited people arriving. The night before our big drive North 8/9 hrs. Youths playing music and shouting were in the square till 5.30 am. I had less than 3 hours sleep making the journey the next day unsafe. Not the hotels fault. Other rooms which i guess are more expensive have garden views and may not be effected by the noise issue. I would stay there again if the tent was there.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A thoroughly enjoyable stay in La Chat Botté. The breakfast in the garden each morning was so relaxing. Staff were so friendly. A great base to explore west of Ile de Ré
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location, perfect outdoor breakfast with views over the garden.
Cons: The rooms need air conditioning or at least a ceiling fan.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Lovely garden. Big room. Good restaurant next door.
Cons: Extremely noisy facing the square. Trucks, church bells, market setting up - all happening before 6:00 a.m. NO more sleep!!! If you want clean towels you have to wait 2 days. Is this a spa experience?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel. Clean and well decorated in traditional style. Good parking and well situated for walking to beaches. Two nights not enough. Ile de Re lovely place to visit. Hire some bikes and explore. Breakfast in the peaceful garden is probably worth the 12.80 euro each cost.
Cons: Room 11 very nice.....but..... market in the square from v early. A quiet room would have been appreciated. No other noise in the hotel just the market in the morning. Don't let the market noise put you off.
Hotel Le Clocher - Ars-en-Ré - Building

7.9 Good (377 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved staying here for the weekend. Perfect location for exploring the area. Great staff. Very friendly and accommodating
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location , friendly staff, simple but comfortable and clean accommodation.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent combination of modern facilities in a fine old building overlooking a lovely town square. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choice of restaurants nearby. The clue is in the name, but depending on your point of view, you will either love or hate the hourly chimes from the church bell tower on the other side of the square!
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent restaurant and bar - wonderful atmosphere and helpful staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, room works well for a family of 4. Bike rentals a block away.
Cons: Room on the smaller side, but good value for the price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was located in the center of the little town, and accessible to everything around. The owners and their staff were wonderful and helpful. The food was delicious. It was a stressless vacation. Thank you!
6.8 Good
Pros: Central location and clean room. Friendly and helpful check in.
Cons: Small, hot and overpriced room overlooking courtyard. When we arrived the sun was directly on the window , shutters were open. Waited a long time to check out, the lady was on the telephone which was fine but then to started open the post when she knew we were waiting.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice village and surroundings
Cons: Service from some of the wait staff was very poor when we only ordered a drink and small snack, not a full meal
6.8 Good
Pros: Room very small but nice, beach shack type decor. Bathroom good. Really central location which was good during the day (not at night!) and the staff were friendly at the restaurant downstairs.
Cons: We stayed on Bastille Day and weren't told that there would be a loud party in the square until 2am literally outside our room! We were travelling with a baby so wish we had been told that or put in a quieter room. Rooms dont have air con either so very hot and stuffy in summer. Breakfast not very good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location very friendly staff a very relaxing and tranquil place wonderful food unpretentiously served. We would thoroughly recommend this very special place

Pros: Good location but noisy.
