Pros: This is a beautiful house run by friendly hosts. We had a very comfortable and relaxing room and slept very well. The complimentary items were comprehensive and very generous. Highly recommended and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.
Cons: Anything said here would be nit-picking and not worth mentioning given the high standard of the room and house.

Cons: Nothing.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The village of Brill is very pretty, and nice to walk around. The food at the Pointer was excellent - really good breakfast, with both cold and hot options - cooked breakfast was delicious. Very relaxed set up, and room we stayed in was fabulous (upstairs room) and very clean, with comfy bed and nice linen & towels. Nice pub garden where we had both breakfast and lunch.
Cons: Shame that there isn't a separate lunch menu, with some more summery dishes, eg nice salads
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, comfortable and classy
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Our accommodation was fab, the food was AMAZING & also walled pub garden was perfect...dinner & breakfast was delicious, this place comes highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back soon!! :-)
Cons: Nothing to dislike, everything was exceptional!
6.3 Good
Cons: The room was much smaller than I expected it is not as they advertise in the pictures and no bath as shown
5.8 Okay
Cons: The service at the restaurant was terrible - wine arrived towards the end of the main meal, food was cold , it stated in the booklet in the room that breakfast was available from 8 but when we turned up we were told that we couldn’t eat until 9 and subsequently were told that the chef wasn’t ready until 9.10
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where to start, the staff are friendly attentive and professional. The room was impeccable, comfortable and a luxurious yet homely feel in every corner. Then the food, just brilliant absolutely top drawer.
Cons: That I didn't book another night for another great meal.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good sized room with all the facilities you could need. Bathroom was spacious with excellent shower and lovely bath. Staff were friendly and the house keeping lady was especially friendly and helpful. We’ll located in a lovely village setting.
Cons: Deluxe sized double bed was in fact two singles pushed together. Food was overpriced for what was on offer and a little bland. The smoked salmon was lovely for breakfast but the full English was disappointing especially as there was a butchers on site!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely pub, delicious dinner, perfect London getaway
Cons: Breakfast good but not quite as excellent as dinner.

Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best possible B&B that feels like home away
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the garden and big doors off the bedroom that open out to it. Full English breakfast was perfect after a wedding nearby. As was the short trip to Waddeston Manor in the morning.
Cons: Make sure you read the small print about when you can check in...

Hartwell House & Spa - Aylesbury - Building
4
9.0 Excellent (384 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Aylesbury, Hartwell House & Spa is in a rural location, within a 5-minute drive of Aylesbury Park Golf Club and Buckinghamshire County Museum. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Property set in nice grounds Staff helpful
Cons: Small room Dated decor Sheets and blankets instead of duvets (hot/cold/heavy) Old fashioned wiring - have to use an extension lead for laptop, etc No kettle - only coffee/tea making machine (staff brought me a huge industrial style kettle that I had to put on the floor as so heavy) Constantly pixelating TV Internet poor No mobile reception Noisy door banging and noise upstairs (I was in courtyard room)
6.8 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good , however this is a 5 star hotel and it was obvious that we were a party of six even though we booked separately. There should have been a table for 6 laid out in the morning. The grounds were beautiful. The interior decoration of the hotel needs updating - swirly carpets are a bit old fashioned!
Cons: When we returned back to the hotel at 11.20pm the front door was unlocked and there was nobody around at all. Eventually we went behind the desk to get our keys (Security non existent). We wanted a night cap but could not find anybody to serve us at all. Eventually a night porter appeared who virtually accused us of being stupid because we did not spot a sign in reception asking us to page him. This is supposed to be a five star hotel and was very expensive. The hotel management were apologetic in the morning and said they would take up the complaint - I hope they do because there were serious security and hospitality issues.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: More or less everything but especially the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
Cons: The mark-up on drinks. OK everyone adds something to the basic cost but for example I recognised Costco cookies which cost less than £1.00 each selling for many times that amount. Oh yes, that's food , back to drink, £15.00 for a G & T is a bit much and wine from around £30.00 a bottle for a £6.99 wine..... but we knew before we went and we still enjoyed it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay. Beautifully appointed. We’ll refer our clients and hope to return ourselves on another UK adventure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Wonderful staff. Excellent dinners & breakfast.
Cons: Lighting in bathroom could be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had the most amazing stay, and will definitely be coming back. The food far exceeded our expectations, and the staff made us feel like we were at home. Massages were fantastic, walking the grounds was lovely, and the room was beautiful - literally it was everything we could have hoped for.
Cons: We liked everything.
6.8 Good
Pros: Only had the continental breakfast but this was of good quality
Cons: Evening meal was extremely poor. The food was poorly cooked and tasteless. To test a menu on your guest is highly unacceptable. It is one of the poorest meals I have ever eaten. It was bland and required some form of sauce to improve. The pork meal was overcooked and unpleasant. The combination of ingredients had been poorly thought though. The price charged for the meal was unreasonable for the lack of quality. That said the service provided by the staff was very good. Further the house was very cold not enabling guests to enjoy the lovely ambience of the rooms. Staff need to be more aware of the house temperature and why guests are not using the lovely sitting rooms
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great building and staff, oozes quality, really super hotel
Cons: Dinner (beautifully cooked and presented) cost for one was ridiculous, two courses bottle of water and coffee for £88 I knew it was pricy from a previous business dinner but with last minute bookings you take what is available
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Completely charming. Felt like a guest at a stately home. Wonderful decor!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location to relax after a long day!

Boasting a garden, 83 is situated in Aylesbury. Free WiFi and a shared kitchen are available. The rooms in the guest house are fitted with a kettle. At 83 rooms are equipped with a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV and a shared bathroom. Oxford is 40 km from the accommodation, while Milton Keynes is 38 km from the property. The nearest airport is London Luton Airport, 49 km from 83.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really wonderful. The only problem was the street number to find , we have taken 30 minutes to find the house.
Cons: See previously
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a do-it-yourself breakfast using milk, sliced bread, butter, OJ and yogurt in a small frig in the room and cereal boxes, a toaster and water kettle in the room. I knew there'd be a toaster and a kettle but not all the breakfast fixins. So that was beyond my expectations. Wardrobe was large with lots of coat-hangers, Sufficient drawers. Good wifi reception.
Cons: Parking was a bit worrisome as was not always clear which area to park in and whether I would be blocking the landlady's car from leaving. England was having a heatwave while I was there and my upstairs "dormer" style room got very hot and was difficult to cool down when I came back at night. There was a portable fan in the wardrobe and I suppose I could have tried using it but I didn't see how to set it up near the window.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfy clean rooms in a lovely property
Cons: Shared bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the welcome I received to the aim of making sure I was happy. Very happy and will only stay here when in the area again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly welcome by the charming owner, who could not have been more helpful. We really appreciated the comprehensive hospitality bowl, plus the added goodies in the fridge. One would have thought having a shared bathroom would reduce the final rating; but because all other aspects were so good the 10 rating still applies.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Top place to stay
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the cleanliness and the facilities the owner is lovely and very welcoming
Cons: Everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: In spite of being on main road location was very quiet. Double room with garden view. Large room with large flat screen TV and refrigerator. Accommodation was spotlessly clean. Parking off road. Friendly host.
Cons: About a mile + from most pubs/restaurants. OK if you don't mind the walk. Always nice to have an en-suite but the shared toilet/bathroom was spotlessly clean.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean very comfortable, tea and coffee facilities, juice etc. Room nice and big. Quiet. Good parking. All very easy. Would definitely recommend.
Cons: Double bed was comfortable and so was duvet. However duvet not big enough. Needs to be a king size duvet on a double bed otherwise one person will get cold. We had a shared bathroom which we were expecting, however it would be good to know how many other people were sharing the bathroom as I was always a bit apprehensive about taking too much time or finding it occupied.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This old house is located off a Village and a very quiet area. This house is a little gem and is absolutely perfect. We only stayed one night as we were returning from another area in Britain. We stay in many houses in the UK when not abroad and find this one to be the best small guest house we have used. For that reason, it scores 10. Parking on site, spotless inside with soaps, towels spare pillows, tea making etc. Nothing left to want. The bedroom we had was overlooking open countryside and a really bright and colourful rear garden. If you need to stay near Bletchley, book this house as there will not be anything to equal or beat it on quality or value. I was born, and lived in a Hotel until i was 20 so understand hospitality and quality. Just try this one. Thanks, Geoff and Eve Hill.
Cons: This house lacks nothing. Perfection in a small guest house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming host, who also does a great fried breakfast. Beautiful old house with lovely view from guest bedroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, lovely owner, fabulous fried breakfast, comfy bed, good shower...
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice breakfast. Lovely setting. Extremely comfortable bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an eleven out of ten find. In addition to the accommodation, there is a good pub with simple food about 150 metres away.
Cons: You need care locating the turn off the road.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast for a B&B, The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at any hotel(5*) and clean linen too Diane is a very friendly host and helpful I couldn't come out of the shower, lovely :-) The organic decaf tea was heavenly A quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city
Cons: The garden could do with a good TLC especially in summer Bath towels were too dry, not sure if it is due to hard water
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, friendly but unintrusive host, comfortable accommodation. Good friendly pub less than five minutes walk away. Lovely and peaceful house, and yet really close to the main road. Lovely views across the valley.
Cons: It was all great. An en-suite would have been nice but only from a convenience point of view, not having to leave my room to go to the toilet etc....but in every other respect it didn't matter. The lovely bathroom just along the landing was all mine!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Host went far above what I was expecting.
6.3 Good
Pros: Polite and friendly host
Cons: Wifi was poor and I didn't like walking down hall to bathroom
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast was awesome and beautifully served.
Cons: The bathroom we were allocated was a short walk down the passage from the bedroom. We prefer an en-suite bathroom.
West Lodge Hotel - Aylesbury - Bedroom

8.9 Excellent (286 reviews)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Cons: Framed beds not great for me as I'm very tall so my feet touch the base frame.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, clean and v comfortable
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Cons: Milk not provided with breakfast on the second day and promised to leave in fridge in breakfast room. Do not appreciate having to eat dry cereal.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a real gem of a find. It’s a beautiful building, the rooms are fresh, spacious and I had an incredible nights sleep, despite always preferring to be at home in my own bed. Julie and Mike are the perfect hosts, there if you need them but you have your own space to relax. An informative guide in the room if you don’t know the area, with recommendations to suit all. The breakfast was beautiful. I asked about a particular fruit in the dish and Julie very kindly gave me a fruit to take away. The bacon and sausages have amazing flavours and free range poached eggs, exquisite. If you are in the area, couldn’t recommend this delightful place enough. I am back in the area in October, so definitely booking a room here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent loved the garden room. Breakfast was excellent as well.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Mike and Julie are wonderful hosts and they will do all they can to make your stay pleasant. The garden is very relaxing and well taken care of. Good breakfast. The surroundings are amazing. The public park just behind the hotel is very big and the people are very nice. Local transport is not very reliable nor accurate. maybe it's best to rent a car. Taxis can only be booked from Tring or Aylesbury and they have a fixed fare (10 pounds one way from Aston Clinton to Tring train station before 10 PM and 15 pounds after that time until the last train from London which arrives around 1 AM).
Cons: - Local transport - maintenance works on the road to Aylesbury (I do realize this is temporary)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hosts very welcoming. Recently beautifully redecorated & carpeted single room, comfy bed. Great fried breakfast and buffet options. Happy to move breakfast times to suit my needs.
Cons: Only small niggles: TV mounted high on wall, caused a bit of neck ache when viewing. Panel of shower cubicle had slipped a bit leaving 1inch gap at the top. Could do with a little shelf in shower and room to put own toiletries in bathroom.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed & super breakfast with lots of choices served overlooking a beautiful mature garden. Staff are very friendly & welcoming, the “boss” is really cool! Would definitely stay again
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The garden room we were given was of a good size with a lovely en suite facility and set in a perfect idyllic garden setting. The decor, bedding and towels were first class. The English cooked breakfast was really lovely, with an adequate choice of cereal to start and toast. The hosts were pleasant and helpful with a friendly approach. The hotel was situated within walking distance of two lovely pubs serving good food.
Cons: Liked everything!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. We had very comfortable rooms; everything was far more tasteful than an average B&B. An excellent breakfast was provided and our hosts were welcoming, friendly and nothing too much trouble.
Cons: It was a bit tricky to spot the entrance to the property, especially in the dark, Clear directions had been given in an email - I just didn't take enough notice when I received it, and then couldn't track down the correct email when we needed it! My fault, but worth the warning. This certainly didn't merit the glum emoji: a minor issue at most.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice and cosy.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this lovely property was perfect and the welcome from Antony was warm and friendly. He was the perfect host and we enjoyed lively chats over his beautiful breakfasts. We enjoyed meeting Felicity and we would certainly recommend this delightful property and hosts to anyone in this area.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Delightful host who welcomed us personally and looked after us very well at breakfast too. The room was very well presented and nice touches like fruit, teas & coffees as well as good selection of books, local maps, magazines etc. The breakfast was delicious too. My sister and I found it the ideal base for exploring the area and would certainly recommend it to others doing the same.
Cons: Bathroom was spotless and everything necessary but quite compact for anyone very tall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We asked for just light breakfasts of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal, with boiled eggs. All perfect! House is beautiful with striking furniture and other furnishings; our bedroom spacious. Large garden with 2 Welsh border collies (a bit shy). Birds fed just outside kitchen window and easy to see. Handy (short drive) to charming village of Wendover (we arrived on market day and worth going just for that). Long walks on marked tracks in nearby Wendover Woods (lots of children's activities near the carpark). For any person interested in wildflowers the small Aston Clinton Ragpits reserve is a 'must see'. More different plants in a small area of chalk pasture than you will see almost anywhere else.
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: All very easy and accessible.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The attention to detail in the bedroom is amazing! The fixtures and fittings were so well thought out. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. It is well worth a visit, highly recommended.
Cons: I can't thing of anything to improve the whole experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was quirky and had a mix of both old traditional period feel but with all the mod cons you need to have a comfortable stay. It’s close enough to Aylesbury centre to walk in around 10 minutes where there are plenty of shops and bars to chose from. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were amazing too. We also had an evening meal here which was lovely and you get 20 percent discount for being a guest too.
Cons: We had a few evening drinks here and they were on the pricey side. 22 pounds for two double gins. They were lovely however.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful fixtures and fittings, loved the bath. Great value with included breakfast.
Cons: ..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing! Staff were brilliant and helpful. Nice menu. We stayed in the gold room I believe. The bronze bath was perfect for a relaxing soak. The images don't do the room justice. The garden was very spacious and very beautiful. I feel very relaxed. Will definetly be back here.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - We loved the room, fully air-conditioned which was just what was needed for the hot weather. - Booked in for an overnight stay after we got married, and the room, people and facilities exceeded our expectations. - The room was very clean, amazingly decorated, the bed was spacious and comfortable, the roll top copper bath was awesome! - Wasn't too noisy and staff were so polite and accommodating.
Cons: - Access from the main bar to the rooms was for staff only, which meant going outside in the rain to come back in to bar to check out. Direct access to the main bar and reception from the rooms would be better. - Room windows overlooked the garden area, where patrons were drinking. So had to close the window shutters.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the food and service
Cons: The only criticism was the shower/bath tub- beautiful piece of furniture but not very practical
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Split level room - unusual for a small place but cool all the same
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was a good location to see our daughters wedding venue at Waddesdon manor, the inn was tastefully decorated and had a lovely outside space. We didn't eat there, however the staff were very attentive. Breakfast was very nice and a good choice.
Cons: Attention to detail, we did ask for shampoo however nothing arrived also for breakfast I think it's nice to have a breakfast bar consisting of fruit, cereal, yoghurt and fruit juices on the side that's what I've been used to
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely cosy bedroom, good shower. Nice staff. 10 minute walk from restaurants (Wagamama, Nando’s etc) and shopping center. Nice size breakfast in morning with good selection of options and 11am check out.
Cons: Traffic noise in morning (room was road side) and room was rather warm (wasn’t that hot of a day). Went to make a cup of tea in the morning and the milk (opened night before for a tea before bed) was off

Pros: Breakfast was excellent - as was the food generally. It is worth visiting the Angel for the restaurant. The staff are attentive and friendly. We had the biggest and best equipped bathroom of any hotel we have stayed in. The rear court is a pleasant quiet spot for an evening drink. There is ample off-road parking. There is easy, fast rail access to London from Haddenham, just a couple of miles away.
Cons: It is on a noisy road - but that is not something the hotel can change.

Pros: The cooked breakfast was excellent. The garden and outside sitting area was colourful and pretty.
Cons: The “Classic” room was too small. Couldn’t access wardrobe without moving chairs which were situated beneath the tv. The bathroom was too small with little room for much more than a make up bag, razor and toothbrushes. The mirror was pretty with internal lights but useless for make up or shaving. The shower was a good size and effective. The hotel location is very handy for the Manor but the A41 right outside is extremely busy and intrusively noisy.

7.5 Good
Pros: The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was good. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room was very hot. There was probably a pipe covered with board which generated so much heat that leaving the window open and putting on the very noisy fan did not alleviate.

Cons: No shower in our room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food and staff amazing!!!
Cons: All good

Cons: Bedroom door were hard to close quietly
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A gem in the middle of gorgeous nowhere which was worth finding! The beds were beautifully comfortable, bathroom didn't have a shower (Room 2) due to lack of water pressure in this beautiful old property,so I took a bath! Fabulous change! The welcome by Clara & Elle was warm & friendly & they made us feel very much at home. Food?! I don't think we could have found a finer restaurant anywhere. It was exceptional so our huge thanks to our brilliant host & chef, Matt for a wonderful dinner & subsequently, our cooked breakfast. Beautiful exterior with lovely plants.
Cons: We had a bit of difficulty with the key to let us in the back door. Bath could do with some helpful handles (mentioned & accepted by Matt). We're not huge girls but we found the bath towels a bit on the small side! When you get out of a sumptuous bath, you need a big towel to wrap around you. This was NOT a major concern but worth mentioning especially as there were men staying all week for work who might appreciate a larger towel!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The pub is wonderful!
Cons: Accommodation is of good standard but the pub and food and location and staff are just exceptional!

Cons: Next to quite a noisy road. Noise early evening from customers drinking outside below our window
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our 4th stay at The Swan, wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when in the area. Nothing is too much trouble for Mick, Eleanor and all the staff. Good food, especially the homemade chicken, bacon and leek pie, friendly people and a very warm welcome.
Cons: Fabulous place to stay but, if you want swimming pools, gym, spa treatments and hustle and bustle then I would say that this isn't the place for you.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and food were excellent. The owner was very pleasant and always had time for a chat, The room was very comfortable and there were always new biscuits when we returned each day.
Cons: The en-suite needs a little attention but the shower was the best we have experienced, the wash basin too small and my wife could not turn the cold tap off. The owner said he would rectify the tap. We were quite late in booking so gat the last room available, had we booked earlier, we would have got a bigger room with better facilities.
5.0 Okay
Pros: A cooked English type breakfast was provided and some corn flakes etc but no food for non cooked food eaters eg rolls ,bread
Cons: as above
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great food and delightful proper pub accommodation, not sterile or fake, don’t expect 5star glitz this is the real deal, nothing too much trouble for the staff.
Cons: Bit of a revamp round the shower area, but wasn’t a major thing just a little bit of attention to detail.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely large bedroom. Lovely English breakfast.
9.3 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The welcome and friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: As an establishment it was very run down and in poor repair. Interior outdated and in need of modernisation We were early however the route to the bedroom was littered with dirty laundry and general clutter. If this was a fire escape it would fail. The size and nature of the artwork in the stairwell was inappropriate. Although the property was clean the fixtures and fittings looked old and shabby. The stair carpet was heavily stained.

The rooms are lovely and the shower was fab. The pub itself is lovely and in a really nice location. All in all a fab place and would definitely stay there again!
Cons: The only issue we had was that there were no fans in the rooms and as it was in summer the room got too hot. A fan would have made it a little easier to sleep.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room clean and newly refurbished. Very spacious. Continental breakfast adequate but might have been nice to have a few extras.
Cons: Room very hot although a fan is provided. Shower leaked at bottom of door so floor was soaking wet.

7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, location was fine.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good quality food, clean accomodation with friendly staff - value for money.
Cons: Thin walls/no UPVC Windows. Upgrade needs to fit soundproofed plasterboard so you don't hear TV/talking of neighbouring rooms and UPVC Windows so you can secure window and shut out noise.
