Quintessential Countryside Inn with fabulous strolls around a ruined castle across the street and first rate dining fare. The George at Nunney and Hever Castle book-ended a storybook holiday for us from the USA to the UK. There was nothing here not to like.
It was a lovely hotel, very old world charm,. service great food lovely and room very comfortable. very helpful for us as a family and just very nice relaxing break. no I found everything very well there.
food and service internet in rooms would be good
The food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, but the decor is rather garish with some things rather shoddy - mirror not attached to the wall and liable to fall (a problem when you have a toddler!), etc.
The food was very good and reasonabily priced. The restaurant and bar itself were pleasantly presented. Nice atmosphere. Interior decoration of the room was in need of maintenance.
the food was fantastic! the rooms were lovely and clean, and the staff couldnt have been more friendly (espcially with a 2 year old and an 8 month old - it helps!!)
Food was excellent No staff available during the day when public house was shut, our friends arrived and were unable to access the building untill we arrived!. The rooms are very over priced, our windows did not shut properly.
Friendly staff and good food. We really enjoyed our stay at the Holcombe Inn. The only negative thing I have to say (and this is only applicable to families with young children) is dinner is not served until 7pm. This proved to be a little too late for our youngsters so I would advise you bear this in mind and eat out before you return for the evening. The food however was lovely and if you have older children or no chlidren with you the later start won't be a problem.
Staff helpfull and friendly, quiet relaxing and ease of access to surounding area. Menue's excellent good quality food and wine.
Lovely location, friendly staff, fantastic food and service, large spacious room. Our 8 month old daughter was well catered for. N/A
Excellent food and staff. I thought the staff were fantastic. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone None
Everything was top notch. Food, accomodation, service, location and ambience of the Vobster will be difficult to beat in a similar setting. Nothing.
Excellent foood, comfortable beds, sensitive service, very satisfied overall. None
None all excellent None
The food was excellent, each meal was spectacular to look at and delightfully tasty.
Friendly staff and owners, tasty food, good location
The room was much better than it looked in photographs, extremely modern, tidy & clean. The provisions for tea & coffee making were extremely generous and even included cookies
Peta and her husband were wonderfully welcoming and even the spaniel Penny made a fuss of us as soon as we arrived. The bar is smart with good food, yet retains the comfortable air of a country pub. We felt at home there. The twin room is cramped and so the only chair is wedged between the wardrobe and the end of one of the beds.
Great atmosphere. Very comfortable room. Very nice food for both breakfast and dinner. Both very nicely presented. Dinner was very reasonable and good quality ingredients. The wooden floors were really rustic however it was quite noisy at times when people came into their rooms late at night.
Very friendly owner, very independent, personal feel to the hotel
We apparently had the best room in the hotel, it was very spacious & clean with good quality furnishings. The only staff we met were the owners who were very friendly & helpful. The continental breakfast selection was very varied and plentiful.
The staff were very friendly, and made us feel very welcome.
The owner was absolutely delightful with incredible high standards which will become apparent during your stay. Our stay was extremely comfortable and the food was to die for! A wonderful location close to Bath city center and yet surrounded by picturesque countryside. We are really looking forward to re-visiting this hotel and would recommend it to anybody! Absolutely nothing!
Friendly staff and good food. Nice and peaceful countryside location. I prefer staying in a place with a bit of character, as this 17th century inn had.
Firstly they were very friendly and welcomed us with our dogs. The evening meals we took were very well done, with plenty on the plate. We felt it was a bit 'tired'. In need of some deep cleaning and decoration, but given it was towards the end of the season maybe that was on the agenda for them to do anyway.
The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent Everything was great, the decor of the breakfast room could be improved.
Food was excellent Room extremely comfortable Staff very friendly None!
We loved the friendly welcome. The attempt to make us comfortable and the general atmosphere. Charming! The only slight niggle, if I am being really "picky" were the dreadful pillows.. They were small, and rather "worn"
When we arrived the reception was not in use, so we had to wander down the corridor until we found someone! The rooms were situated away from the main building in chalet style wooden buildings. The rooms were freezing; the heating was on time and didnt come on until 5.30pm, although we were told 4.30pm, which on a cold March day you dont want to hear! There was no electricity downstairs in challet where our room was, which made going upstairs in the dark very dangerous. We informed Reception who did not seem worried!! There were no numbers on the doors so you had to try all 3 rooms until you found your one! The pillows on the bed were in desperate need of being relaced. The food was pricy and very badly cooked: either oozing in fat or completely undercooked.
stairs up to bedrooms
Comfartable rooms. Friendly staff. Good food.
Friendly staff, nice rooms, good atmosphere, interesting place
Big comfortable bed and nice country location.
