It was too warm. I saw so many windows open and cracks in doors. Heat and energy were being wasted and it made me sad.
The only amazing thing about the room was the view- the Mountain Ruddle. The place provides coin washing machines, well equipped kitchen and a TV room, I guess for a hostel is excellent- but we were not aware the private rooms are also hostel standard for the money we paid..
Its a hostel, even if we were in a private room. toilet and shower is 5 cm far from each other and cubicle so small - even for a thin person. stone floor and old dirty table with one chair.
Ideas behind the property for long term residents and general concern about underprivileged people were major points that made us to reserve this property instead something else in the area (your reservation is partially used for good cause). Location is very good, you are close to eveything: centre, walking paths, tourist spots (gardens). Our room was small but clean, ensuite bathroom was fine and enough for our needs. There is also possibility to use the shared kitchen to store your food (have to use nametags!) and prepare the meals. Property also gives you a parking space which is very convinient regarding the area we have stayed.
Unfortunately we got a room (and no possibility to change) with a big "aircon?" noise from behind the wall and as the room was small and the noise was 24/7 we couldn`t get a proper rest. We have raised the situation with the staff but they evaded and said this only happens during a day which wasn`t the case :/
Great location. Some of the staff were very kind. However the others were indifferent.
It felt very cheap, the flooring was so cold and the room was dungy. Couldn't move in the shower without touching the wall and the bottom of the shower curtain was BROWN!!! The bed mattress was awful and made you roll onto the other side of the bed, I also found a thick long black curly hair in the bed, this was absolutely not mine!!! No TV or coffee machine in the room which is pretty unusual for a private room. Parking was full and was told that I could park in the bus parking until 11am or they would tow me!
sweltering hot with no temperature control. opened the windows and listened to exterior noise throughout the night.
Located within a Canadian national park, the YWCA Banff Hotel makes it possible for nature lovers to see some of the most breathtaking sights on earth. This hotel keeps amenities basic and offers a variety of communal and private room types, allowing for easy and inexpensive accommodation.
For travelers coming to ski, bike, hike, or just see the gorgeous scenery, the YWCA offers great convenience because of its budget prices. Rates differ between rooms that are private, rooms with shared bathrooms, or dormitories for 4-10 people, so visitors are likely to find a price point that matches their budget. A common kitchen and lounge area encourages connections with other travelers, while self-serve laundry and free wifi ensure that all basic needs are met.
Since the hotel is located in downtown Banff, that means that the atmospheric small town of less than 10,000 is directly accessible. Guests will want to stroll down Main street at least once during their stay because of its mountain view. They'll also find plenty of nightlife and shopping despite the town's small size. Other attractions include hot mineral springs and a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain. Those that feel disconnected from civilization need not worry, as the town has its very own movie theater.
When visiting a national park, most travelers only need a place to wash up and rest their head. The YWCA Banff Hotel offers exactly this, at a variety of affordable prices.
