beautiful accomodation in a lovely location and friendly efficient service
having to move to a third room from the superior one booked.
Reception staff very helpful. Bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast very good and nice to see good quality products being supplied. Evening meal, which was charged separately, was really good value for money. Tea and coffee supplies in the room were generous and biscuits delicious, and again good quality. Yes I will be going back again. We were given a downstairs room initially, but after a couple of hours listening to the people above walking about in what sounded like hob nailed boots on a wooden floor, we asked to be moved. We were given another room, upstairs this time, which was far nicer, fresher and lighter. The first room was incredibly gloomy and even with all the lights on, it had a very depressing feel to it, plus it smelt peculiar. The whole place needs a coat of paint, a stiff broom outside and a tidying up of the gardens. It could look really nice.
We liked the fact that the rooms where away from the hotel building and the walkway to the rooms was bordered with subtropical plants. The evening meal took far too long to arrive after the order was taken. Th use of convenience sauces spoilt the main course
The staff very helpfull, the Hotel top of the list of my recent bookings, the more of this type of hotel at this price the better, thank you
The restaurant in particular was excellent, good service, good food, and very pleasant surroundings.
Excellent food, comfortable room, a very organised team of people, who worked well together It was a bit too far out of Barnstable to walk into town.
Comfortable and good value Nothing
No food available when we arrived at 22.00.
The best cooked breakfasts ever! Friendliness of staff Efficient cleaning of rooms "Green" policy on towel changing Dimly lit rooms
very polite and helpful staff a very pleasant stay
All staff always helpful, cheerful, friendly and very smartly dressed. Overall, hotel mains very high standards. As this hotel seems to be used in main by the 'older generation', it would have been better to have had 'walk in' shower cubicles rather than than having to climb over the side of a large bath to take a shower with very poor water pressure!!!
The staff were all very helpful, friendly, happy and nothing seemed to much trouble. The room service was just what we needed after a long day and again the food was good. Nothing to dislike. Will certainly visit again.
Very nice staff and hotel beautifuklly furnished. A really lovely place to stay.
very central No air conditioning - our room got to 32 degrees
Staff were attentive and service was good Prices for food and drinks were high
It was convenient for the shopping and restaurant facilities , you could leave your car and walk . I think You should be aware of the age group that mainly uses the hotel ..as we in our early 40's and most of the guests were over 70 ....we appeared to be the youngest people there
Outstanding staff, every encounter with them was a positive experience. I was really quite struck by this. It spoke of attention to training and good staff morale. Decor is rather traditional in a style which does not appeal to me however this would not put me off going again and I'm sure would appeal to many.
relaxing & comfortable
Friendly & helpful staff No tea/coffee making facilities in room
View from the room over the River Taw. Quiet relaxed atmosphere.
It was cheap, cheerful and well located
Found that the room I had booked was a twin and I wanted a double. Reception staff soon arranged for this to be changed and did so with a really good attitude. They were really friendly. Room was comfortable although a little warm at first but this soon cooled when we put the AC on. Food at breakfast was good and again the staff were great although very busy It was Halloween and the revellers outside the front of the hotel (from nearby pubs and clubs) were a bit noisy.
The staff were extremely friendly. The food was really good. The hotel was centrally located which was ideal. It was also well situated for visiting other places.
Exceptional food Parking could be difficult in a confined space
It was clean and comfortable
nice room and friendly staff it was very noisy at night but this is due to the fact that it is in the middle of town. we had to have the bedroom window open as well as the room was so hot
It was a very pleasant stay and staff were exceptional. I could not book for room bed and breakfast online only bed and breakfast.
The location and lounges The taps did not function correctly and the lift is to small
The Hotel certainly exceeded my expectations. A comfortable bar, good food and a very good breakfast. I will certainly book it again if I stay in Barnstaple
Good breakfast, with pleasant attentive staff Noisy location
nice clean room out of the town location,
Parking & city location good. Health club & gym also lookef ggod and was well used - unfortunatrly forgot my swim things, club couldn't lend costumes and Tesco & Sainsbury had none (not surprising really) Unfriendly reception area. The function room end of the hotel was more inviting. The rooms were ageing a bit but were comfortable.
very relaxing stay, good food, good facilities. not able to share sauna with wife as situated in respective changing rooms.
Nothing particularly outstanding Bad restaurant service due to in experience staff. Breakfast basic and didn't look that appetising.
Being charged extra for breakfast
I'm a fussy guest needing to check the room before I agree to stay in it and 9 times out of 10 ask to be moved but on this occasion I was impressed as soon as I walked into the room. It was of the same standard as that pictured on their website. It and the bathroom were very clean. The food was good. The only downside was that the bed base didn't have a valance sheet so you could see it. Rather a shame to be let down by such a simple item especially considering they had put such effort into everything else.
£30 for broadband for a 2 night stay - broadband constantly cutting out but staff would not entertain a refund. Other similar hotels don't charge - and the service works.
nice hotel its just a bi far from the town
spent time around the town centre and enjoyed a nice night.
nothing! being in the 70's as in need of refurb
Great breakfast and comfortable room I stayed in the outside cottage rooms and unfortunately the weather was not good so the walk to breakfast was wet.
Limited closet space. Small rooms
Good friendly service I missed having a radio in the bedroom
had a wedding when need to relax came back to the hotel
The bathroom was very big and the room very clean.
The extreme friendliness of all the staff Dining room end of the bar was very cold and draughty. This was only used on one night when there were very few guests dining
Friendly relaxed atmosphere
Comfort, food, location, staff
There was a wonderful selection on offer for breakfast! Lack of air ventilation in the bathroom which left a damp odour.
The hotel location was poor the room backed onto a car park that kept me awake in the evening and first thing in the morning. the hotel was old and required modernisation, I am not sure how this is desciribed as a 3 star hotel.
clean Parking difficult (3spaces over road otherwise roadside nearby 60min restrictions. On a busy noisy crossroads. No access even for unloading outside. Less fit/able customers would have no chance
Helpful and knowledgeable owner No dedicated parking
The room was clean and comfortable and there were thoughtful small extras. The staff let me park in their car park although I had checked out.
comfortable bed, free WIFI I had the 'attic' room. Too small even for one person.
It was luxorious, everything was beautifully clean everyday. The breakfast was sumptious, as much as you could eat & wonderfully prepared. The staff were lovely, polite, kind & helpful. I cannot say enough of how brilliant the place was. It wasn't a problem for me but the bath towels were bath towel size & if you were a larger person or liked a little more luxury it might be nice to have a bath sheet.
the management were very friendly, helpful and informative, the bed was superbly comfortable as was the room and the breakfast was woderfully cooked and presented. nothing
Welcoming, helpful, very friendly owner; fantastic cooked breakfast, good location. very small allocated parking
Very Polite & helpful Staff Excellent cleanliness of room Food beautiful
Friendly service, excellent room and wonderful walk-in shower - easy for people with bad backs like us!
Shirley and Dave were very helpful and friendly. Food were great. none
Pleasant room, lovely and clean, great bathroom. Tv wasn't in the bedroom, also breakfast was not really full english as stated.
Friendly welcome Road access poor, too remote. Lack of information and knowledge of owners for good places to eat.
Quiet area - lovely views.
The View and the room was nice and clean, super small town but not far from barnstaple. Breakfast was nice A tad to personal for my liking but would stay here again, They got a bit upset that we arrived later than planned,
We liked the way we were greeted and looked after well by very helpful owners. Good breakfast, comfy beds.
There was nothing to dislike about the Hotel the set up was excellent, made to feel very welcome. I will be staying at this Hotel again No.
A much appreciated cup of tea produced on arrival. Local maps and walks in area. As the country roads were very narrow with no lighting you need to familiarise yourself with the surrounding area to find your way back in the dark.
The hotel was great, comfortable & full of character but the two owners made it as they where very hospitable.
Peace and quiet No
Views to die for, blissful isolated location, clean and friendly hotel and a great breakfast ! Seemed alittle dear ? May not be suitable for those wanting a centre location ?
Scenery The television in the room was very small not realy high enough up to see and the room felt adequate but not warranting the five diamond rating. The hotel generally felt somewhat tired.
peace shower need updating
Location was excellent; very quiet and comfortable. The price of the evening meal!
The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff in the restaurant couldn't do enough to help. A luxury having a bath in the en-suite! Could do with another chair in a double room...there was only one...and a bit more milk for hot drinks. Corridor smelt a little of toilets!
Large and adequate room to manuover a wheelchair The wash basin was restricted for wheelchair access.
Having used 4 other premier inns during this holiday, this was a good hotel
Very friendly staff A little expensive for a budjet chain, however good experience
close to town centre , close to main road in from m5, good amount of parking no a/c in rooms , was not very comfortable no phone in room , cell service (orange) not good in room either , would steer well away from premier inn's in the future, went out for a ciggy 1 hour before checkout time , had to ask them to reprogramme the room key to allow us back in , it seems they deactivate the room keys earlier than check out time
Convenience Breakfast bar arrangements were very muddled
Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable rooms.
Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and placed to go. Would have been good if the offers for cheaper rooms were available £65 per night in early December is quite expensive when you are offering £29 at other times and other places (never seem to be available when I want to book).
good sized room and well equipped for short stay. excellent shower quite noisy with passing traffic in the mornings
The restaurant offers great value for money and the staff was really welcoming.
The level of service provided by the staff. There tends to be a large number of older stiff upper lip residence.
Attention to detail. Meals taken were very good.
Welcome excellent. Resturant breakfast very varied choice to a high standard. Evening dinner once again varied and menu changed daily, the waiting staff most helpful. As we booked late on the internet there were only two rooms left unfortunately outside of the room was a large air extraction unit, the noise between 7am and 11pm was unacceptable it was very hot but we could not have the windows open.
Highly recommented, beautiful hotel and views, we were lucky to have lovely weather which added to make it a most relaxtion weekend, we will go back later in the year,
Comfy beds We paid â£180.00 bed and breakfast and I was a but disappointed with our room, for the money it was a bit small. My father recommended it to us as he has stayed a number of times and it was our ten year wedding anniversary.
Limitted choice of food
some staff were very friendly but not all. Food was not very good and the service at breakfast was also poor. A number of staff were milling around but no came to offer any service.
The cottage was wonderful. Everything, from the kitchen utilities to the cosy bed was very well thought out and designed. Wifi would have been a nice to have, however, I noted from the welcome notes that this was far to expensive. I think the rate we paid was quiet high, but worth it for a treat. The swimming pool was a little too busy for its size and the mixed changing room wasn't great. However, Im sure if the weather had been better it would have been empty!
In some hotels some single rooms can be little more than broom cupboards with views over the kitchen/car park but my room had a balcony and a superb view over Saunton beach. Also, I had the very warm indoor pool to myself most of the time. The gym was a bit cramped and not particularly well equipped.
The view Wasnt given the room I booked, reception staff were absolutely appauling, one of them was swearing to her friend over the counter talking about boyfriends etc at full volume, they were extremely rude and when I told them I booked a sea facing room and was given a room facing a brick wall, they really didnt care. the corridors and stairways smelt like a museum which hadnt been cleaned for some time. hugely overpriced!!!!!
