Pros: So welcoming and genuinely kind. Everything was wonderful.
Cons: Nothing! Absolutely perfect.
Pros: Great place to stay while experiencing Teotitlan. Although this visit was short, we'll definitely stay here again on our next trip. Breakfasts are fresh and well presented. Our room was clean and comfortable. Great location for enjoying this small community by foot. No issues whatsoever.
Pros: My hosts were gracious and helpful, providing sumptuous breakfasts and information about the village and customs, unique and special as a Zapotec Village. It is well placed with several modest but fine cafés about and a World renowned restaurant near. The room was comfortable - very clean. The venue is small and includes a showroom for the beautiful weavings the town produces and your hosts will facilitate your connecting with. All is walkable from the hotel, tuck-tucks also zip by and several public busses a day pass to Oaxaca and return. Good internet service.
Pros: Central in Teotitlan, great team offering advice on very local off the beaten tracks activities. Good Mexican fare nearby, quiet area (far from noisy Oaxaca) and virtually empty of tourist in the evening. A relaxing stay with Mexicans in a Mexican village... Add the proximity of Mitla and other sites to cut daily transport and Tlacolula great market and street food...
Cons: room without bathroom
Pros: Very friendly family run hotel. A nice courtyard to hang out in. The room was very clean.
Cons: We had a private bathroom but the wall between our bath and the communal bathroom was not all the way to the ceiling, leaving a gap along the top of the wall. So we could hear everyone else in the hotel showering, drying hair etc. We also didn't like the plastic mattress cover under the sheet which made the bed very hot.
Pros: The owner and his wife went all out to welcome me and to be helpful. They even invited me at their home to eat barbacoa, but unfortunately I had to leave to visit Mitla. Their family manufactures the famous Teotitlan rugs, I bought two. The quality is excellent and the prices are wholesale, much lesser that at the other outlets in the area.
Pros: We loved our stay at Teocalli. Alejandro and staff were professional, friendly, gracious, accommodating all our needs. The bed very comfortable, with hand loomed bed covers, fresh linens, artisan carpets, local artwork, lovely garden area, home cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee. The location perfect for our day trips to Mitla and Yagul ruins, well as our day trip to Hierve del Agua. The town of Teotitlan de Valle is an amazing community, artisans skilled in the art of weaving rugs in the traditional Zapotec techniques. Traditional Mercado, a community gathering place. Muchas gracias, Alejandro
Pros: This new Hotel is perfect for a stay in the lovely town of Teotitlan del Valle. The owners are super friendly, helped us a lot (like organising a colectivo or a way to get to the town Benito Juarez, which is a little hard to reach). Like many families in the town they also make beautiful rugs and the owner showed us the place where they make them, how they dye the wool and how they work on the big weaving looms. The breakfast was served freshly everyday, fresh fruits an juice, tratitional chocolate and different kinds of tipical mexican breakfast! The rooms are comfortable and each of them is decorated with a homemade colourful rug! We loved it there and can highly recommend a visit in the Hotel Teocalli.
A stay at Hotel Cosijo places you in the heart of San Jeronimo Tlacochahuaya, and within a 10-minute drive of Tule Tree. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: 2 charming capable women running the hotel. Beautifully minimalist and pretty quiet.
Cons: No hairdryer or fridge.
Pros: The hotel is very nice in terms of decor, and the rooms are very well kept. The staff was very friendly and willing to help. A perfect place to spend a night to escape from Oaxaca.
Cons: Although the staff was extremely friendly, I feel that they could have been better training. They were not very resourceful and weren't very helpful in terms of places to go.
Pros: Beautifully decorated, bright and enormous rooms, even better than in the pictures. Each room had its own private courtyard. This hotel is perfect for a quiet and romantic getaway. The breakfasts were prepared to our order on a lovely terrace. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful without being overbearing. We were worried that the location (a short distance from Oaxaca) might be too far. But in the end the location was a huge bonus! The hotel was a very easy drive into the centre of Oaxaca, about 20 mins by car along a single road! The hotel is also conveniently located along the Mezcal route (a drive that takes visitors to Oaxaca to see the local Mezcal farms), just outside the centre of Tutla (where there are epic ruins) and Teotitlan del Valle (where Oaxacan rugs and tapestries are famously made). It is also part-way between Oaxaca and Hierve el Agua. I could not give this hotel a higher recommendation.
Cons: The swimming pool was a bit warm.
Pros: Delicious fresh breakfast! Kind staff. Peace and quiet.
Cons: Not sure our room had been used for a while so it was a little dusty and musty.

Other facilities offered at the property include a tour desk and business facilities. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including biking, zip lining and hiking. The property offers free parking. Centro Ecoturístico Cabañas Nevería is 7.5 km from Cuajimoloyas town centre and 50 km from Oaxaca City Centre. Oaxaca International Airport is 55 km away.
Pros: If you want a complete break from everything, these cabins are the place! Quiet, tranquil location. Basic accommodation, but comfortable enough and excellent value for money. The kids had a wonderful time on the zip line and other activities and we learned a lot about the different types of corn grown in the region during the 'Seven colours of corn' tour. Personalised service. A real authentic Mexican experience: Cabins in the mountains of Oaxaca.
Cons: The cabins were very cold at night - highly recommend bringing lots of warm clothes for the evenings/night time. Also recommend asking the staff to light your fire early and have extra firewood so you can add to your fire during the night. Also - have quick showers as the hot water doesn't last for long. And be prepared for a windy, hilly drive there - but it will be worth it!
Pros: THE LOCATION
Cons: EVERYTHING IS ABOUT MONEY. EXPENSIVE FOR POOR QUALITY.
Situated in Teotitlán del Valle, 26 km from Oaxaca City, La Cupula B&B Teotitlan features a garden and free WiFi. A patio with mountain views is offered in every unit. Both a bicycle rental service and a car rental service are available at the accommodation, while cycling can be enjoyed nearby. The nearest airport is Oaxaca International, 32 km from La Cupula B&B Teotitlan, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service.
Pros: Beautiful place with the most comfortable bed and facilities of our trip. A treat to return to after a long hot day of exploring Mitla and Teotitlan Del Valle. Mirabel was so nice, thoughtful and generous. The breakfast was wonderful. Her carpet dying demo informative and the stock of family made carpets and other woven items a feast for the eyes.
Pros: Breakfast offered a good variety of food and fresh squeezed orange juice. They don't have a restaurant at the B&B so you take the tuk-tuk up the road to the village (20 pesos) where there are several excellent places to eat. However, on the easter holiday they weren't running and everything was closed so the owner called around to find a sandwich shop that was open and then she drove us there so we could get something to eat for dinner. Could not be more helpful and kind. Make sure to see the church in town and the local museum. Market has many handmade, natural rugs for sale with natural plant and mineral dyes. It's the main town for weavers in the area. Below is a picture of the owner next to a rug they made themselves.
Pros: Delightful modern B & B set in a weaver's property, where the products of the weaver and his associates are sold during the day. The owners also run weaving and cooking courses (pre booked). The rooms have access to a lovely large terrace. The breakfasts are very good indeed, ample, home cooked and very varied. There was a problem with our first room, but the owners moved us very quickly to another room, which was absolutely fine. They were very helpful in ordering taxis and giving us information about the area.
Cons: There were no restaurants open in the village after 7.00, apart from 'Samburguesas' an outside stall with tables and chairs, not open every day.
Pros: Very comfortable pillow-top queen size mattress in one of the new rooms where we stayed. The view of the mountain countryside from the room inspired wonder and contemplation. Powerfully quiet and soothing environment.
Cons: Food options very limited. Buy a tomato in one of the nearby tiendas to add to your soup or quesadilla at the restaurant to spruce it up with texture and tang.
Pros: It's a cabin high up in the Sierra Norte. Rustic, but well maintained. It's a bit of a drive, so you'll get the most out of your stay, if you use it as a base to hike and/or bike. Just overnighting (as I did) - I don't know... The staff is trained to do what they do - not more, not less. But that they do well and conscientuously. The sunset lives up to its reputation - very nice indeed!!

Pros: - location (remote, but still close to civilization) - nice hiking - hot water - fireplace <3
Offering a restaurant, Centro Ecoturístico Cabañas Amatlán is located in San Miguel Amatlán, 1 hours’ drive from Oaxaca de Juárez. The rustic-style cottages are built with adobe bricks and have fireplaces. The private bathrooms also come with a shower. The on-site restaurant opens daily from 07:00 to 21:00 hours and serves local dishes. An array of activities can be performed on site, like mountain cycling, visiting the old mines and haciendas, or having a temazcal treatment. The property also offers a business centre, private parking, and is pet friendly.
Pros: Peaceful location, friendly staff
Cons: The beds were extremely uncomfortable (rock hard) and the restaurant was terrible! No choice of menu and all we were offered to eat for dinner, after a long and exhausting day hiking, was a watery bowl of chicken soup. Despite having paid in advance for the room, the staff had no record of my payment. The fire smoked the cabin out and we had to extinguish it early.
Pros: Very large well-insulated room. Cafeteria seating suitable for solitude if you are tired and want to have a quiet meal, or you can sit at large communal tables and meet others if you are so inclined.
Cons: Friendly staff didn't really know how to make the fire in our room and it filled with smoke! Also, it would have been nice if someone had swept in front of the fireplace, or if a broom was provided for cleaning up wood debris.
Pros: Our cabin was clean and very spacious. Nice and hot shower. Great views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Good for birdwatching. Office WiFi is good considering mobile reception is bad in the area.
Cons: Upon arrival we were told dinner was served 7-8 pm in the cabins restaurant. However, when we went for dinner, an event was taking place and kitchen was closed. This was absolutely annoying, but luckily a family in town served us some food. Bed was not too comfortable.
Pros: location is great. I can see wonderful sunset. and the town is small, clean and cute.
Cons: It looks like shelter in the middle of mountain for the emergancy situation. not cozy, too big, brick wall and rock floor. Thus It was crazy cold even in the summer.

The property offers free parking. Centro Ecoturístico Cabañas Latuvi is 17 km from Cuajimoloyas town centre and 54 km from Oaxaca City Centre. Oaxaca International Airport is 60 km away.
Pros: Contact with local people who worked hard to make our stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible. Local guides who were accommodating to special needs. Staff went out of their way to help us through a particular problem.
Cons: It was unseasonably cold when we were there. We were not aware that the last 10 kilometers of road was a dirt road, winding and steep. On the other hand, it was beautiful!
