10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for a stopover en route to the Vendée coast from the UK. Jacques and Sybille were extremely welcoming, and the family (double) room suited us well. Little touches like crayons and colouring books, games and Lego in the kids room really made the stay extra special. The breakfast was delicious too. Nothing to fault here!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing, so good! Wonderful house, grounds and hosts. A great way to spend our last night of the holiday. Merci beaucoup!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second stay, and it was just as good as the first! The hosts were extremely welcoming, breakfast fantastic and the family suite perfect for our two children (aged 3 & 7). Only slight downside was that the girls were having so much fun playing with the toys in the room that we struggled to persuade them to leave!
Cons: A very minor point because the facilities are fantastic... however it would be nice if there was a double or kingsize bed for the parents in the family suite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and picturesque setting for a beautifully renovated chateau. The family room was well designed and thoughtfully equipped for just that, families (games, toys, books, teddy bears...) The owners were incredibly friendly and inviting, going out of their way to make our stay comfortable and to cater for our family. Our visit was just a one night stop over but we’ll definitely return and next time for longer. Genuinely can’t express how brilliant the chateau and owners were, thank you.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like, it was over and above our expectations. If I was being incredibly picky, it would have been nice to have a bath for the family room as well as the shower but that’s not essential.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the warm welcome and friendliness of the hosts! The family suite was amazing too with all you would need with children, even toys to play with! Great comfort and amazing art work!

Cons: Large barking dogs greeted us but owner put them away thank goodness

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tasteful decorated with all that you need for a great stay. Shower room was stylishly modernised. The breakfast was the best you will ever taste. We had 2 dogs with us and they loved the garden. Francious was a fabulous host and booked our restaurant dinner just 3 km down the road which was a beautiful modern water mill conversion, with a great menu.
Cons: A little tricky to find if your GPS let's you down. The property entrance is sharp left at the front of the church.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place and the proprietor is very nice and kind. The bedroom was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The whole environment was very quiet.
9.6 Excellent

10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gorgeous property in a lovely location. The breakfast was copious with a lot of choice & fantastic fresh bread. Francois, the host, was very welcoming. The room was spacious & beautifully furnished with a huge bathroom. There is a quiet garden to sit in with views across the valley. The private parking area is very good.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike. I was a bit worried about the steep entrance to the property as I have a low car but there was no problem. It is quite easy to miss the entrance as it is tucked away beside the church.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Stunning house, fabulous views, beautiful comfy bedroom & bathroom. Good wifi; sockets by bed. Courteous & helpful host. Continental breakfast - fresh bread, preserves, cheese, hard boiled egg, pastries, fruit, coffee, orange juice. More than I could possibly eat - all excellent quality.
Cons: The driveway was daunting on a motorbike.starts with very steep corrugated concrete, proceeds to steep uneven gravel with potholes. To be fair good flat parking at top. Very secure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hosts, beautiful house. Comfortable bed and thoroughly charming. Beautiful walk with the dogs in the the surrounding woodland. Great with the dogs.
Cons: Nothing, it was exactly what we needed.
L'escale de Broglie - Broglie - Bedroom
4
9.5 Excellent (295 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at L'escale de Broglie in Broglie, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Notre-Dame-De-La-Couture and Theatre Edith Piaf. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Broglie is a delightful place so the setting was wonderful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished and decorated. There was a kettle in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was very generously sized. The staff were really nice and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely - they served it early because we needed to get to Calais by a certain time.
Cons: It was a bit too hot in the room overnight and it would have been nice to open the window more (we were at the top and you could open ventilation strips in the skylights but not open the window itself).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was just right...simple, well prepared and presented. Dinner the night before was very good.
Cons: Nothing really. Traveling back from Italy to Ireland without our siamese cat (hospitalised in Ireland) so not deterred by no pets policy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Surprised by how beautiful Broglie was. Very interesting old houses and a delightful river running through the town. The accommodation was spacious, clean and well designed. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and good value.
Cons: Nothing much to dislike. We chose the place as a convenient overnight stop between Calais and the Vendee and it far exceeded our expectations. It even has a swimming pool!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and facilities especially the pool. Beautifully decorated throughout. Very good evening meal.
Cons: Although the bathroom was lovely, would much prefer a stand up shower rather than a bath with a hand held shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern & well designed bedroom. Very comfortable and very quiet. Absolutely loved it all.
Cons: Breakfast. We would have liked a selection of meat & cheeses & french baguette.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming
7.1 Good
Pros: The property was immaculate and would be excellent for couples. The standard of the room was superb. The pool area was a big plus and parking was very secure.
Cons: The property wasn’t very child friendly and didn’t suit us as a young family with lots of breakable items for toddlers to play with at their level. Also, we ate at the restaurant and were quite shocked when we asked for a high chair for our 1 year old to be given an ornamental piece of furniture which we thought was decorative. Such a shame as this made things very difficult for us as a family during dinner. Also, there is nothing to do in Broglie.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms very well appointed.
Cons: Being picky : the Entrance was very narrow for the car!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were some welcoming. We were offered a welcome drink and made to feel at home straight away. The room was huge! Plenty of space for us and our little one year old son. All the decor was modern and luxurious. The restaurant was lovely with delicious food. They made our little son feel very welcome - he even got a special bowl and spoon laid out for him at breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room. Pretty town. Very comfortable.
Cons: No negatives.

Pros: The host and the whole experience especially breakfast was tres, tres bien!!! We stayed for 1 night on our way back from a holiday in spain and France It was a perfect travelling distance to the wonderful city of Rouen (about 1 hour) which we visited on the way back to the UK
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I visited the chateau with my husband as part of our honeymoon trip. André and Nicolas were just great, always attentive to us, helpful, talkative and super nice. Our stay was quiet and beautiful, just as we expected. The same applies for the bedroom: we got the suite, which was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. Thanks André and Nicolas for such delightful stay. We will be back!! ❤️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The chateau has been beautifully renovated over 25 years by the owners. The room we had was both beautiful and large, with all comforts. Hosts were very gracious and helpful.
Cons: Can’t think of anything.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a charming and atmospheric place and the bedroom was comfortable. We had a very good night's rest in a peaceful place. The breakfast was good and the hosts were friendly and kind. A excellent place to stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a really amazing place if you look for the unique chateau experience. The owners,Nicola and Andre, were very nice and wellcoming. The room ( suite as a mater of fact) gave the real feeling of staying in a chateau, huge with authentic furniture and objects d'art. Breakfast is basic french style but with very good baked goods.
Cons: The only disadvantage for us was the distance from the main Normandi atractions.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room which was a suite with massive bedroom. Breakfast very nice. Perfect secluded location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Beautiful property and location. Shame we couldn't stay longer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Setting, cleanliness and peace
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole ambience - house, gardens, swimming pool. Andrew & Nicolas are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts are very good with a good variety of breads, cheeses, jams and fruit.
Cons: Could find nothing we didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was wonderful, - lots of fresh ripe fruit and yogurt and all sorts of croissants as well as excellent bread and jams. There was a good selection of cheese also for those who want protein in the morning. Coffee was superb. Our hosts were relaxed and very friendly. They have created a wonderful oasis of grandeur, tranquility and comfort in the middle of the French countryside. This property is truly unique.
Cons: This is not a comment on the property - rather on the practical matter of getting an evening meal. One has to drive to get any food in the evening, and on Mondays and Tuesdays most places nearby are closed. But the roads in the area are deserted and getting around to find somewhere to eat is fairly easy. But after a long day on the road, this is not ideal. I would have liked to have had the chance to make my own coffee/tea in our room, although the hosts will provide a drink outside of breakfast if you ask.

Pros: Very friendly en helpfull couple, Sue and Neil. Clean and Big appartement. We loved it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked Le Mousell for an overnight stay en route to the ferry at Dieppe and found it to be just about the perfect B&B, in a wonderfully peaceful rural location. Sue & Neil, the owners, could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful, including recommending & booking a local restaurant for for us for dinner. Our ensuite room (they have only the one guest room) was comfortable & impeccably clean and there is also a sitting room downstairs for exclusive use of guests. Finally breakfast was superb and included boiled eggs from their own chickens! Highly recommended!
Cons: Nothing at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The very friendly owners had thought of everything. It was great having a very comfortable lounge area (with UK TV), and a lovely breakfast featuring home made items.
Cons: The stairs to the bedroom are rather steep, so perhaps not ideal for somebody who finds stairs difficult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything location the owners the food and hospitality
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant accommodation with comfortable separate living room. Very quiet surroundings. A very good bed. Large and tasteful breakfast. Friendly hosts. Feels like home.
Cons: The accommmodation is a little bit difficult to find, but with the help of instructions provided in the booking confirmation we arrived at our destination with no problem. The steep and narrow stairs to the sleeping room are difficult to climb for some; a friendly helping hand was offered to carry our heavy suitcase upstairs.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean comfortable friendly homely pool to relax great homemade original food
Cons: No issues at all
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Luz and Denis are excellent hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed the superb evening meal with them and the other guests, Florence and Marcel. The rooms are spotless and we left after a good breakfast. We would love to return to this area as there is plenty of local history in this rural part of Upper Normandy but we were passing through on our way to Calais and didn't leave enough time for this. Next time we will take more time!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old house - fine room with a huge bathroom. Nice pool and garden and a very friendly dog. All homemade breakfast with pancakes and delicious jams.
Cons: Hard to find something we didn't like ...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, really lovely village and surrounding area. The host was very welcoming and explained in detail all the facilities and was eager for us to use the pool. The kids loved the pool after a long drive and it was chilly but plenty warm enough to enjoy! We had the extra dinner which was excellent, lots of food and all was delicious....all 4 courses! The shared dining experience was also good fun and we got chatting with another family. Good rooms, lots of space with the kids in a completely separate room.
Cons: watch out for chlorine levels in the pool.....the ends of my daughters hair turned a green colour and so did inside of costumes! Was OK but something to watch. The meal time was quite rigid with places to sit being dictated......I can see why, to ensure the families mixed and chatted but some might not welcome this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful surroundings. The home-cooked, locally sourced dinner was amazing. The whole family love it.
Cons: Caution for small children on the staircase bit then I guess for a very old house what do you expect?
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts. Beautiful surroundings with lots to do (Honfleur, Le Bec-Hellouin,Château du Champ de Bataille etc). Perfect to be able to take a dip in the pool and relax in the garden after a busy day. We recommend to eat Luz's nice dinner if you have the chance.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A very clean, comfortable place to stay, with very helpful hosts (Pascal & Lucy who are also very good cooks!)
Cons: No UK tv, but you don't go to watch tv so this is a moot point.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food and The hospitality.

Cons: Maybe steps up to bathroom could do with a rail.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quirky and cool Could not hear church bells
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully designed room in a cute B&B in the centre of town. Owner was very kind and obliging for our check in time given we had a wedding to attend. Bed was comfortable and room well furnished. You can tell attention has been paid to every detail.
Cons: While quality of products was good, breakfast was poor for the price per night. Some eggs, cheese, ham, something other than just bread, jam and yogurt would be very much appreciated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was amazing, the rooms were a delight. It was like a trip back in time as the whole décor was from a different age but presented in a very modern fashion. Christine runs the show and is a lovely host
Cons: Not a dislike but a word to the wise. Try not to arrive before your arranged time as Christine arranges her day/timing around your arrival. We were a little early and had to ring her to let her know we had arrived. (not a problem but!!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The location and the village itself, tha character of the property and the quirky decor, the tranquil garden, the delicious breakfast and the friendly cats. Madame was friendly and welcoming without intruding - perfect host
Cons: The only downside of our stay was the lack of somewhere to eat in Beaumont le Roger on a Sunday evening, but this was hardly the fault of the property!

5.8 Okay
Pros: The bedroom I stayed in has just been refurbished to a high standard The bed was very comfortable Beautifully decorated Peaceful and quite area of France Good welcoming hosts Very clean and tidy English speaking Information provided on places to visit
Cons: No Wi-fi. Breakfast was very poor (three small pieces of toast and a boiled egg). No tea or coffee supplied. Towels were not replaced in the morning. Poor facilities in the kitchen. No wardrobe to hang clothes. The only thing dividing the privacy in the bedroom was a wood/glass partition with curtains. Security of private items was none existent. A turkey that didn’t like men. No rack in the shower to put shower gel on. No shower mat. (One was supplied halfway through the week) Towels not replaced on a daily basis. No lock on the door when vacated your bedroom. Little privacy. Woken up by other guests coming and going because of glass partition between the bedroom and communal area, creaking floorboards and door hinges. Having to get dressed to make a coffee in the kitchen instead of having a kettle in the bedroom Would I stay here again - NO
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Building was fabulous, madam was helpful and accommodating. Home produced honey and apple juice for breakfast was an added bonus. The foal was nice to see.
Cons: Lack of hairdryer, dirty and unfinished kitchen with missing items which were referred to at time of booking. The separate toilet was downstairs and through a shared lounge which was weird.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Our bedroom and bathroom were upstairs but toilet downstairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rural situation, the animals, the owner.....everything was a delight.
Cons: Our ‘own’ kitchen was out of action, but instead we were able to use the main kitchen for our supper.

9.6 Excellent (37 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Maison D'hôtes La Bihorée in Saint-Jean-de-Livet, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Sainte-Therese Basilica and Lisieux Cathedral. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very confortable, cleane, stylish accomodation. Big garden, host very friendly.
Cons: Breakfast was in fact quite basic, addition of eggs and (Normandese) cheeese would be most welcome, the price would warrant it too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Set in the breathing taking outskirts of Lisieux, the grounds of this truely outstanding B&B defies description. Our accommodation was immaculately clean and an imaginative mix of modern and old furnishings and fittings. Our hosts (Marie-Jeanne and Clarence) could not have made us feel more welcome, we spent our honeymoon at La Bihorée, a little patch of heaven. The breakfasts provided was made the freshest of local produce (some ingredients straight from the garden). Marie-Jeanne is an excellent and enthusiastic cook and offers evening meals (with 24 hour notice), we enjoyed our first evening meal so much we asked Marie-Jeanne to prepare us a meal each alternate evening...sublime! When dining out, we relied on recommendations provided by our hosts and were never disappointed. This review could not be complete with mentioning our four legged hosts, Jack and Lelu...great fun and just as welcoming. Four beautiful cats owned by Marie-Jeanne and Clarance roam the lawns and private woodland welcomed us in their individual feline way. Thank you to La Bihorée, all of you...we hope to see you very soon. ❤️
Cons: Not one thing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice and friendly owner. Exellent breakfast, family atmosphere.
Cons: A small refrigerator may be a good addition.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The setting was beautiful and the contrast between modern walls and 400 year old timber framing was outstanding.
Cons: There is only a sheer curtain separating sleeping quarters #1 from the bathroom. Thus, there was little real privacy for the person staying in sleeping quarters #2 when taking a shower, etc. They could completely cure this by replacing the sheer curtain with one providing more privacy. I was unable to see this from the photos or would have been concerned since my wife and I were staying in sleeping quarters #2 and a female friend was staying in sleeping quarters #2
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, cosy, comfortable room but thecwelcome and attention to detail from Marie is the real winner - plus the dogs of course - especially completely bonkers Jaques!
Cons: It rained! That’s it! And that didn’t spoil the visit!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was well off the beaten path, south of Lixieux, France. It was absolutely perfect accommodations for our needs. The breakfast was unique and delicious! Marie made us an evening meal that was perfection!

Pros: We love this small hotel. It was just outside of Bernay but only a 10 minute walk into the town. Very friendly owner who was happy to help. The room was good, very clean with excellent facilities. We had an evening meal there and the food was superb. Good breakfast too. A lovely, slightly quirky, small regional hotel, oozing character with a great host (who has a wicked sense of humour!) - all at a very good price. Can’t ask for more!

Pros: Great Market on the Saturday in Bernay, just went on and on through the town
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, welcoming people. We had a family room, which was actually two joined rooms each with their own ensuite. Glad we booked a table at the hotel, some places to eat in town only 5/10 minute walk away, but after a long day on the road the meal at the hotel's restaurant was fantastic. Our 9 year old was most impressed with his steak from the kids menu.
Cons: No

Cons: Difficult to find. We had travelled from the west coast and took a while to find the hotel from the motorway.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Sink was clogged, carpet had stains and holes, curtain was torn,
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Facilities were excellent, nice big tv
Cons: No mention of breakfast during booking process or in confirmation, on arrival was given the impression it was included but then charged extra for it. €30 for 4 people (2adults, 2kids) when I only had coffee was a bit steep, would have gone to McDonald’s next door. The beds were rock hard, not comfortable for us. It’s a personal opinion. The room showed signs of wear and could have done with some maintenance attention which gave the impression of unkept / unclean which I’m sure it wasn’t
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The family room we booked was the most spacious we have stayed in on or many trips to France. Room was clean and well equipped. Beds very comfortable. Hotel was very quiet, didn’t even see any other guests. Location was a 15 min walk to town. Would use as an overnight stop again. Car park was free and secure at night. Check in and out was swift, staff personally showed us to our room. Bathroom and toilet were separate which was handy for a family of 4.
Cons: We stayed on 15th August and didn’t realise it was a public bank holiday. Everything in town was closed apart from McDonald’s and a takeaway pizza shop.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, 10-15 minutes walk from the town centre. Lots of reasonable priced restaurants. Did not have enough time to spend a couple of hours there, but it looked like it could be an interesting place to spend a couple of hours. Hotel is modern but comfortable. Nice little bar. Overall very pleased with it.
Cons: Cannot think of anything. Will probably stay there again for a night
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fine and well-presented. The location was perfect for a vist to the Chateau Champ de Battaille. The latter was brought back from a ruin by Jacques Garcia, the renowned architect, landscape designer and interior decorator. A sensational visit!. For us the hotel was in good location for a one night stay and to reduce the strain of driving back home in Belgium.
Cons: The hotel lived up to its three star status.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and comfortable and a good size
Cons: No restaurants within walking distance and after a long drive we had to get back in the car to find an evening meal

Cons: All good

Pros: Soft beds and a very quiet area. Only the wind and the birds are there to wake you in the morning. The room was clean and nicely finished. The rooms are garden facing and give you privacy from the neighbours. A basic but qualitative breakfast is served in a covered area outside. Very nice with good weather like we had. You can buy some of the delicious honey served at breakfast and collected by the lady of the house from the hives on the domain.
Cons: Having breakfast when it is raining, windy or cold might prove a challenge. The same thing applies to accessing the room as the door of some rooms have no cover to protect you from the natural elements if it where required.

Pros: The hotel has a secure parking with the reception opened 24 hours (you can arrive at midnight and someone will be there waiting for you) and a good restaurant and bar next door. We have been to this hotel for years and we will continue to do so as it has changed ownership and they are doing a complete make over. It is a nice little hotel to stop on your way somewhere. Rooms are on the ground floor and on the first floor but there is no lift. There is also a swimming pool and an exercise room.
9.2 Excellent
