The room was pretty clean and adjacent to Newark Liberty International Airport. The view was just overlooking the parking lot. Nothing else. The lobby was very beautiful.
The front desk personell was very friendly the room was nice overall hotel standards were very good.
First of all, I am a veteran traveler. I used to travel for a living, spending more than 200 nights a year in hotels. What upsets me about any poor service experience is that it is relatively easy to avoid with good training and good management.\n\nI checked into the Doubletree Newark Airport after 11pm on the 13th of December. If I didn't already know they had a shuttle from the airport, there would have been no way to know they had one running. In the terminal and also at the P4 shuttle pick-up area, the hotel is not displayed on the courtesy phone area. I ended up having to call the hotel to see if indeed there was a shuttle bus available. \n\nWhen I arrived at the property, there were 4 people behind the front desk but no one at the front door or any bell service available. I had numerous bags as I was returning from an overseas trip and had to secure the bell cart myself. I passed several staff members with this cart and no one offered to assist me. \n\nThe guestroom was fine, although it needed a bit of cleaning. The bed was quite comfortable. As I recall, this used to be a Wyndham and it had been throughly renovated under their management, so the product quality was good.
We needed a hotel not far from the airport as we had a 6:30 am flight the day after our stay. The staff at the Renaissance were incredibly helpful with any and all questions we had re: transportation, food, etc. Although we had a short night's sleep due to our obligations, it was completely restful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Some hotels have gorgeous communal areas, such as the lobby, and the lounge, but a different standard for their rooms. Renaissance Newark Airport had beautiful areas that were communal, and their rooms were of the same high standard. Bed was comfortable, and warm. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Shuttle to and from the airport is a plus. Many airline staff stay at the hotel, so the morning shuttle filled up fast, but another shuttle was dispatched right away, to pick up the overflow of passengers. I would stay here each time I'm in the area. Not just a good value, but a great place to stay, meet, eat, hold a conference, etc.
If you have a choice I wouldnt stay here. The surrounding area is horrible. Also, very very hard to find and easy to get lost in an area I dont feel safe in. The hotel is just average, the staff is just ok. Absolutely no restaurants in the vicinity so you are forced to eat at the hotel for mediocre food. Meeting rooms had leaking ceiling, where water came through like rain! Parking for hotel guests is expensive! Unfortunately I had to stay here for a meeting, if I had a choice I would not stay here!
This hotel has been recently been renovated. The public areas on the first floor are very nice, and the quest rooms are very nice as well. My only negative comment (and it's very minor) is that the hallways in the guest room areas still need to be redone. The front desk and restaurant staff's are very friendly and accommodating.
Clean and affordable. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel in general which would include the room, lobby area, and the indoor pool. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and very accomodating when it came asking for directions, coordinating adjoining rooms, and providing additional services such as a roll away bed and blankets. Each time we came back to the hotel from our day or evening trips the front desk manager or clerks would ask how our day went. We enjoyed the flat screen, LCD T.V. and the variety of channels available for free viewing. The only downside to the hotel is that it's located right off the highway across from the airport which meant we were pretty much land locked which limited our dining choices without having to drive. The Perkins shuttle never showed so we ended up eating lunch the first day in the hotel restaurant. Being right off the highway also made it very challanging and confusing to get into the frontage road area where th ehotel is located. You needed to learn the N.J.. u-turn system the hard way to figure it out. Great touch to have the computer and printer in the business area for guests to print out their boarding passes. Security wise they have a guard at the gate of the parking lot and you need your room key to operate the elevator.
I am very picky, about clean, germs when it comes to hotels. the staff was friendly, from the valet to restaurant staff. the room was clean. i would go back and stay there again.
I arrived at 2 pm only to be told to wait an hour. Upon returning at 3 I was told the room wasnt ready and I could have a double bed. I refused and was told by the manager YOU CANT EXPECT US TO RUSH OUR STAFF. My toilet was broken. I was charged 3 TIMES for the same thing. Then I was told the only thing that can be done is a FREE DINNER....unacceptable treatment and horrible attitudes
This was my third stay at this hotel and even better than the last two. The rooms, lobby, and restaurant have been very tastefully redone. The room was very comfortable with HD TV. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Even though near the airport, my rooms have always been quiet.
Beware, renovation under way. Paint on carpets, in sinks.... smell is in the air. Not sure why I didn't know about the daily parking fee ($14).
The attendant at the Front Desk Myron, could not have been more rude! As I came down to check out I simply said I am checking out and all he said was just drop your key. I then asked for a receipt and he fumbled through in a huff as if I was putting him out. He did not find my hotel receipt, just a beverage expense. I asked him for hotel receipt and he looked up in a huff again and said you don't get a receipt because you booked through something else so contact them.I simply asked you cannot print an actual receipt and he just responded NOPE. I then asked for a breakfast bag since it was before 6 AM. He simply huffed away and then handed it to me without saying anything. Beyond rude. I would have stayed there this week as I am coming back for work. I will certainly not at this point. No place for bad service in competitive service industry.
the shuttle bus does not come very regularly. We waited between 1 am and 1:50 am at the P4 location at Newark airport. There is no phone at the picking up point to call them and ask them for pick up. We managed to call their phone using a regular line but still it took additional 40 minutes. We were also informed that between 2 and 4 am there is no service. This is despite the fact that the advertisement says 24 hours shuttle bus service.
Charged an extra $10 to park in their dirty parking lot. Breakfast was understaffed with 100 people going for one chaffing dish. No service staff. Room was ok. Only three pillows to save money. Out dated. Run down. Hazard tape across staircase. Constantly waiting for the elevator in groups of20. All jamming in and people standing waiting for the next one. Ugh
Comfortable place to stay CHECK-IN CLERK / SERVICE POOR
Everything. Hot tub was a special treat. Limited chance for late checkout. Some rooms are subjected to background airport sounds.
Clean. Friendly staff
Everything was great. Nice breakfast with a hot selection every morning along with the usual waffles, toast, cereal, etc. I liked the strawberry topping and whipped cream for the waffles. I had anticipated a sofa sleeper in the king room, and there wasn't one there...not a big deal.
There was nothing to like it appears the place is a welfare people placed by Social Services elevators dirty not for business traveler It is an overrated hotel interns of price and facilities, plumbing in my room was not working properly noisy leaky water , my bedspread had blood stains So I slept with no covers
Good beds and breakfast. Poor wifi.
Bathroom was dirty
Crowded breKfast. Ran out of food
Water pressure was low so the shower took more time than usual.
This was a overnight stop over to catch an early morning flight out of EWR. Got picked up by their courtesy van at EWR and the staff was helpful and polite. Courtesy van took us to EWR was timely. nothing
Staff were terrific, breakfast great, airport shuttle extremely helpful. We checked in very late. When we finally got into our room (the keys worked only every 8th time or so) we were bowled over by an intense chemical smell. We tried to find an air freshener but couldn't. Called the front desk, housekeeping came. Turns out they spray some kind of God awful disinfectant before guests arrive. This is dangerous. I asked for a different room, but there was none. We were given a fan, which helped a little, but there's no fresh air coming in from anywhere. I had a headache the entire time we were there. I've always loved Hampton Inn but this is unacceptable.
Always have enjoyed Hampton Inn's and this one was excellent, except Kayak didn't let me know ahead of time it was a smoking room. Kayak signed me up for a smoking room and I didn't know anything about it. Next time Kayak, show me that its going to be a smoking room and I will look elsewhere.
The shuttle from the airport was convenient. The staff friendly. The rooms clean and nice. I got in very late and tried to sleep a bit later the next morning, but noise started at 720am and continued. I could hear everything from the room above and on either side. Surprisingly noisy. The next night I slept fine but left by 430am.
Convenient to airport; shuttle service; friendly, helpful staff. Has a kind of run down, grimy look. Hall carpets were wrinkled and dirty looking, elevator was dirty, room looked like only essential areas like the bathroom were really cleaned. Limited food options - I ordered Chinese delivered and it was the worst Chinese food I'd ever had. The only other choice would have been pizza/pasta, neither of which I eat.
Everyone was incredibly nice! Best Hampton Inn staff I've ever seen. Depesha is AWESOME!!!!
Property dated....needs a facelift
Very friendly staff and shuttle staff
Bathrooms and included breakfast were great! Mattresses were squeaky and carpet needed cleaning
Extremely helpful staff, from the shuttle drivers to the front desk to housekeeping. Very clean and comfortable.
The bed was comfy and divine! Check out time was noon. Service fell short. Shuttle took 40 minutes to arrive; I had to call twice. Massive plane delays brought me in at 3 a.m. and it was not fun waiting yet again. First room shown smelled to me of smoke; no problem about changing rooms. However, she said she would slip a new room key under the door while i could sleep (almost 4 a.m. by now) and she did not. It was easier to not leave the room when I woke (bc very tired) then to deal with trying to get a new key to my room when I would be checking out soon. I left hotel at 11:30ish a.m. without coffee but showered.
The place was very clean and nice, and very professional looking. If you're not a posh business person, it isn't the best. We made the mistake of ordering Dominos to the room, and the hotel was obviously not very happy about "fast food" coming. First of all, they gave the delivery person a hard time and accused her of not really having customers here and being shady, before they finally called my room. Once I confirmed we had indeed ordered pizza, they wouldn't even let the delivery person come into the hotel, and I had to go outside to meet them.
Great bed, nice room layout, very quiet and dark which was nice for sleeping. If you close the curtains you will not be able to tell you are essentially in an airport. Restaurant was okay -- not bad, not great. A bit expensive for the quality.
The rooms and staff were nice The shuttle service was very poor. Understaffed shuttle service for people trying to make flights. If you are going to use mini-vans, you need to have more of them, or have bigger shuttles on stand-by.
Got in at midnight and still able to grab a quick bit in the restaurant/lounge! Staff was great and never made us feel rushed.
A shout-out to the Newark Airport Marriott for their excellent customer service. Having taken a red-eye and landing in Newark at 5:55 yesterday morning, we went straight to the Marriott, not necessarily to check in, but to have them be aware that we were there, because we knew we wouldn't be back to use it until around midnight. The night clerk decided just to check us in early, at 6:30 a.m. We never went to the room, but left for our day in NJ and NY (and Neal Gottlieb 's Survivor viewing party, which was attended by so many relatives and friends). When we returned to the Marriott just past midnight, we attempted to print our board passes for this morning. When that didn't work, the same night clerk offered to try during the night and have them for us in the morning. Great. We went to our assigned room, and when we opened the door, we saw it was a wreck. It had not been cleaned at all. So it was a trip back to our now favorite night clerk. After explaining the situation, a supervisor got involved. We received an apology, and an upgrade to an executive suite which included a full breakfast. Thank you, Marriott!
Hotel staff was nice, room was clean and not noisy. Restaurant staff were terrible. Can't be described as nice which is in sharp contrast to the hotel staff
Everyrhubg was great above average on all things.. Great service and room service food was beyond great.. One very rude women that was a clerk at the front desk about 3am in the morning needs to be fired. I don't want to give the hotel a bad review because of her. I asked about the shuttle and all were more than happy to call the bus driver. They said tell us when you are ready.. I walked outside and came back in and there was another clerk there. I said you can call the shuttle driver now please, I'm ready. She answered very ugly and rude sharp '' when I have time I will'' there were no customers at the desk. No reason that I should have been treated like that. I just thought to myself welcome to new jersey where all the rude selfish people in the world live and blew it off. But what needs to be realized is that people like this on staff there will cause this great hotel to lose customers.
They set up a pack and play and refrigerator. Huge win! No bellman to bring our bags up. We had to push the luggage cart ourselves. The restaurant was initially rude when I asked to take food upstairs (to my husband and sleeping daughter). I was surprised that this was supposed to be "in" the airport but it still required a van to access. They will not direct you to a walking path. The van was included (nice) but the driver refused to go to the premier counter, leaving us to lugg baby and bags up multiple flights. Not as easy as for a solo business traveller
Amazing location adjacent to terminals Prices are similar to Midtown Manhattan
Had to pay for computer access in business suite, no free TV channels…..everything was promotional.
Lobby and restaurants remodeled. You can walk to terminals but a shuttle is provided. Best place you can stay when departing from EWR.
Upon arrival we found a spacious room which was very clean and updated furniture with comfortable double beds. Microwave and mini fridge were included as well as free parking. The free breakfast was nothing fancy but was adequate and got the job done. I was happy to find my favorite Kashi cereal, but the coffee wasn't to my liking. Overall I would definitely book this room again.
The room was spacy The front desk put me on hold for 7 minutes, come back and ask to put me on hold again. I hung up. Front desk absent for 5-10 on check out at 450am. Front desk needs to be retrained
clean comfortable and roomy...really nice breakfast
The room was super clean and spacious. I would stay here for leisure or business anytime. We even had a little view of the city and planes coming into Newark Liberty. My wife and I drove here from Ohio and this was the perfect balance of what we needed. Cost effective + parking + NYC access A little far from the city and public transit but with a little creativity you can get there in no time for only a few dollars.
Convenient shuttle to the airport They provided me with take out menus for nearby delivery I ordered delivery from a nearby Italian restaurant and they delivered it right to my hotel room door. Nice indoor pool and jacuzzi There is no bar or restaurant in this hotel you have to walk down a road where there is no sidewalk to get to the Courtyard Marriot which is a short walk but 2 doors down to get to the food and bar. Menu and bar is extremely small.
Everything, microwave and fridge were available without extra charge, relaxing atmosphere and i felt safe in the environment. No dislikes here.
There is no noise from outside creeping in or from people in the hallways. The bed is very comfortable. The price is right. Food selection at breakfast is very limited. No other meals are available at the property and it is inconvenient to find a restaurant nearby. Parking fees are high.
Service was top-notch, from the concierge, the shuttle drivers, housekeeping, all staff was sincere in making your stay most comfortable, also generally seemed happy to work which makes for good vibes all around. Very convenient shuttle service to Newark airport. Pretty good breakfast. No bar (kind of a drag for most adults), soda machines were not stocked and were also faulty, location is not the best since there's not much around but is close to the airport.
Overall the hotel was beautiful. The room was very spacious and neat. My stay was very pleasant. The jacuzzi was out of order and the pool water appeared to be dirty. I didn't like that you have to pay for parking if you booked a room and that you only have 1 hour of free parking.
Proximity to airport. Shuttle service to and from airport.
The staff , breakfast and pool The location kinda tricky
Okay for the money Bar/restaurant was over priced and the WiFi was down. The doors do not close very well...
For $79 plus tax on a weekend night through kayak, it was great. There were only two things: 1) The room could use a mini-fridge. 2) Saturday morning, around 8:30 am, there was house music blasting from the first floor that you could easily hear on the second floor. I realize this was from a group holding a gathering there on Saturday morning, and would be hell on anyone who checked in late, but I couldn't blame the hotel.
What I really liked about this hotel is that all the staff is very nice. All the staff would say hello if they walked past you and were very helpful. I also liked that the bar and convenience store were open later than the other hotels in the area. My sister and I wouldn't get back to the hotel until 10:00pm to 12:00am and we were able to get a bite to eat and have a drink before going to bed. You can tell this is an older hotel so there is little things that could have been better but for the most part you could tell the management was really trying to get the hotel fixed up so the little things didn't really bother me like they would some people. When my sister and I first sat on the bed it seemed really hard and uncomfortable but it didn't turn out to be an uncomfortable sleeping experience. It was actually quite comfortable for my sister and I. If you are someone that needs a softer bed I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The location of the hotel was a bit confusing because the hotel is right off the highway so if you are going too fast you will most likely miss it and have to go all the way around again. So if you are someone taking uber and lyft just make sure your driver knows about when to turn into the hotel so you don't have to pay extra. Even though I smoke cigarettes I didn't like that the ash tray was right next to the restaurants door. It just seemed really weird to me to have it right there when people have to walk out that door. Also even though they have an ashtray right there people had been throwing their buds on the floor and staff was walking around collecting big trash but didn't stop and pick up the cigarette buds.
Location Housekeeping waking you up early by knocking once and opening the door on you, even if the lock is on. It's annoying!!! Check out @ 11am they'll be attempting to open the door on you around 9am.
The staff was helpful for the most part. The room, the facility in general, was poorly maintained and run down. It felt like a dirty cheap motel. I asked the housekeeper to clean my room when I went to breakfast, nothing was done. I asked again at dinner and I came back to a pile of towels thrown on my suitcase, and the bed sheet just thrown on the bed. I called housekeeping who tried to explain that only the supervisor was on duty and that the do not disturb sign was on. This was not the case when I twice asked housekeeping to clean the room.
We liked that it was so close to the Newark airport & the free shuttle ran every 30 minutes to/from the airport. The staff members weren't rude, but not really friendly either. The room was very small - it barely fit the 2 double beds in it.
The location is extremely convenient to travel to and from Airport. The hotel amenities are very basic. It just provides stay. There is no microwave in the room. The restrooms are too small and there is no exhaust vent. The power receptacles are limited and located in very inconvenient location inside the room. So, charging phones can be frustrating.
The price for the weekend was great but on Monday it double Not the best at all!!!
A place to sleep Bathroom not very clean
Okay for a budget short term stay. Decent proximity to Newark airport with free shuttle to AirTrain station running every 30 minutes. Staff was courteous. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Hallways and shared spaces smelled stale/ like faint cigarette smoke and were humid/ not air conditioned for most of our stay. Our air conditioner in the room was also not functional.
Nothing The hotel is nothing like the picture, it was very dirty and old. This is the worst experience I ever had. DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL, its full of roaches !!
No hot water. Reported this to staff. No results, one week apart. Seems like they could care less
Clean Not enough mirrors you couldn't chill wroth your friends because the walls are paper thin
Friendly staff, convenient location All good!
Great location for use of Newark airport. Great staff! Nothing
good overnight with early morning flight departure. Enjoyed lobby bar with good accompanying menu -- not a bad place to hang out and unwind. Staff was friendly and accomodating, keeping their cool during a substantive number o all-at-once check-ins. Shuttle from airport terminal departs from the extreme end of the airport, which depending on your arrival
Access to everything Fixures in the room needed maintenance
Room was clean and spacious. Comfortable. Original parking lot wasn't working and had to park in the guest parking, which was completely packed. Only good thing was that instead of paying $20 for parking, I only paid $15 plus fees. Ridiculous that we have to pay for parking, even with a room. Pantry area was almost empty with no variety,
Every staff I encountered had the same superb customer service. They were always attentive and address things fairly quickly. This was very refreshing. The room tub was clogged, which made taking a shower uncomfortable as the water rose to our calves. Although maintenance came up to fix it, it happened again when the next person bathe. The following morning the sink was clogged almost overflowing. I'm pretty certain there must've been some plumbing issues, because it's highly unlikely for this to happen within hours. Besides the hotel restaurant, finding options to dine were very limited.
For of all this app said that the Hilton had a spa and that was a lie !!! Also the indoor pool was dirty! The customer service was shitty. & to top it off we had to pay for parking which was $20.
Very comfortable bed and quiet room. Nice looking building. Airport shuttle was quick, convenient and the driver for the hotel I stayed at was very nice (can't be said for the other Courtyard hotel driver for one of the other locations...). Too many people partying in common areas/halls. Rude driver of airport shuttle for one of the Courtyard Marriott properties (not the driver for this location - but another locations driver who was at the airport at the same time); if you don't know which of the three Courtyard hotels you're going to hope you don't get the driver I did at first because he just yells at you. Bathroom and ceilings in room could use updating.
Location. Close to Mall and major highways. Complimentary breakfast Was given the wrong room at check in. Was offered an accessible room with absolutely NO closet space to hang up my wedding dress. Not one staff member acknowledged that I was getting married;NO congratulations; NO amenities. Staff lied about free breakfas
proximity to interstate, swimming pool, breakfast pull-out mattress was very uncomfortable, hotel places hold on credit card for 'incidentals', but this isn't refunded at check-out - was told it would take 2-3 business days
king size bed accomdations

The staff was very accomodating and courteous. Hotel Employee at the front desk was very helpful. We had requested a 1 king bedroom and ended up with a 2 queen bedroom but it was no real inconvenience.
Ambience and convenient Poor knowledgeable front desk, was not given the room reserved, given rooms in different floor. Requested a room with access to accommodate old family members. Had to settle for something closer rooms
The room and location were excellent. The bar and restaurant were expensive for me, since I was alone and really just wanted something to eat. They ran out of razors. I needed one because I had a meeting in the morning and housekeeping had thrown mine away. They didn't get any in before the next day when I checked out.
the best aspect of this hotel was its location. Within walking distance to the outlets and a quick drive to the airport. I have stayed at many Embassy Suites in the past and have always had a great experience. This stay however didn't meet my expectations. While the room was clean and renovated it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

Its close to mall and its new. The breakfast is running out quickly and you have to wait for them to refill the food.
Free breakfast and happy hour Charge for late check out
Breakfast buffet no
I liked the fact the hotel was close to a Mall and provided a shuttle and had a swimming pool with breakfast included. The shuttle was terrible - supposed to run every 15 minutes but what they don't tell you is that one of the shuttles is reserved for airline employees of United and American and essentially, there is a shuttle every 30 minutes that is not supposed to stop at the terminals but it does it anyway. One of the drivers was supposed to pick me up from the nearby Mall and decided not to because he was running late, so I ended up running late for my flight and had to change it. Be very careful with these shuttles - they are quite unreliable.
The ease of access from EWR airport. the people are not friendly. they do not welcome you as a customer.
Quietness and the courtesy shattle to and from the airport Yes, I don't take coffee but that is the only drink provided by the hotel and the brakefast there is too expensive.
Hotel is alright. Gym is good and has equipment for about 7 people at the same time. The wee shop where you can buy food is open 24/7 and has good food in it.Free Internet is fast.Shuttle Bus drivers are friendly. Is worth its money if you book online and don't pay more than 100 bux. People at the reception are not really friendly - as mentioned before by other travelers. Though they are helpful.
We found our room to be very comfortable and clean. The price was definitely reasonable. The hotel's facilities are excellent. Front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful.
Reliable airport shuttle. Good restaurant. Couldn't work the coffee-maker.
We enjoyed the comfort of our room and appreciated the 24/7 gym & swimming pool. Also, having a courtesy shuttel is much appreciated. We wished we could have ordered food after 23h00 and that some movies (even old releases) were available without paying extra fees.
Clean and silent rooms and wireless free internet are very useful for travel in business Carefull with hidden costs for things that in other regular hotels are included. Breakfast: low quality and room not very clean
Rooms updated but small, adequate for my business needs. Onsite restaurant, excellent food and service but is pricey. Parking is free, good news, finding a parking spot can be difficult but attendant is helpful, may have to park 1/2 block away.
We were very well , near restaurants, quiet place, very good breakfast and free parking........................................
Every thing Parking
Location & Price are great! Good breakfast included with hotel stay. Had to switch rooms b/c of a grainy picture in tv and shower stopping up. Also, b/c of warmer temperatures during this winter season the hotel decids no to offer heat in the rooms...WTF? IT STILL WAS COLD AT NIGHT!
The location is very close to train stations and the free parking is a very nice perk. If they run out of parking they will park it for you. The elevator is simply amazing. It sounds like such a little thing but it is really fast and they don't shut them down on off hours so you're never waiting for one. As other guests mentioned the A/C doesn't work very well. If you turn it all the way to cold (past the temp settings) it will get comfortable after about 30 minutes. The bed is very lumpy and extremely uncomfortable.
I asked for a "quiet" room and ended up next door to a group of women who were clapping, cheering, and in general having a good time. I don't mind people having fun but at 1:00 in the morning I really wanted to get some sleep.
Stayed for 4 nights for the 2016 Star Trek convention in NYC. No regrets. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient, free parking. Clean, comfortable room. Good breakfast. Walking distance to Newark Penn Station. Reasonably safe urban neighborhood. Easy access to NYC via PATH or NJ Transit. Price compared to NYC hotels. My room had a nice view. Was able to park the full day after I checked out. Elevators malfunctioned one morning (this was a huge annoyance). Area around hotel closes very early (no good restaurants, convenience stores, etc).
Good location for getting into NYC. The breakfast was pretty good. Employees were very friendly. Room was clean. Bathroom door did not close and some of the walls had paint/wallpaper peeling off. Vending machines were all either non-functioning, didn't take bills, or were not well-stocked. We ordered a cheese pizza when we got in for a quick bite to eat and it was possibly the worst pizza I've ever had, especially from a restaurant. A frozen pizza would have been better. Our neighbors rolled in around 2 AM and were loud and woke us and kept us up until about 5:30 - 6AM when we finally had to call the front desk to ask them to do something about it and even then it still took a while for them to quiet down.
Downtown location, close to restaurants and activities. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff
- Good complimentary breakfast - Decent gym facilities - Convenient free shuttle to the train station and airport - WiFi fairly fast and reliable I was put on a floor that was renovating (maybe all floors were renovating). As a result, the entire floor looked really run down, it smelled like paint, and it was loud.
I had low expectations based on reviews, but rooms were clean and spacious and recently renovated. Wifi worked fine for me. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good value for the money. Maybe I just got lucky this time, but nonetheless I'd stay again. Fine for a night. The area is a bit dicey, but not so much so that it should prevent you from walking to the train station, etc.
The food and the shuttle service as well The first room smelled like cigarettes and was tiny. But the second was nice
Clean, comfortable rooms, decent food and drinks, timely shuttle to the airport, great price. Better than a park and fly hands down! What more could you ask for!
Very nice room and very friendly staff. Free shuttle to and from airport. Nice rate. Coffee and muffins were available at 4:30 am. Other guests were extremely loud- banging doors and yelling in the hall the entire night. It kept waking us up. Our wake up call rang at 3:40 instead of 4:40. We reserved a shuttle and one of the drivers never showed for work; so at 4:50 on the morning there were four families trying to get to the airport for our flights. The driver was very, very nice but one family was forced to stay behind.
Clean, fast shuttle, good breakfast.
Convenience I reserved king but I got two twin/double, I did not bother to change when I realized in my room
I stayed in this hotel twice during January 2017. The hotel has a good location, it is close to the airport, the neighborhood seems safe, and the shopping area is not too far. It has an acceptable shuttle service to the airport. The rooms are spacious and their beds are comfortable. During my first stay of three days, the room was cleaned just once. When I inquired the reason, a woman receptionist explained that when you stay there for a few days the housekeeping personnel “sometimes” skip a day of cleaning. She said that she was alone, that all housekeeping personnel was gone for the day and the manager was out as well. She offered no other explanation and her attitude was of an upset person. As if I was annoying her with my problem. When I returned the second time, I complained to a supervisor, he apologized and said that the mentioned receptionist was wrong, adding that unless I had a “do not disturb” sign on the room door, there was no reason to not have skipped its cleaning. He also gave me a couple of vouchers to compensate for my aggravation. I suggest to closely supervise and train that receptionist to make her understand that clients are needed to pay her salary and they deserve to be treated with respect.
Our room was very nice and the bed and bedding was very comfortable. It was a very quiet stay.
Free shuttle service between EWR and hotel, both ways. Staff was friendly and helpful. I had a room on the 6th floor, it had a vaulted ceiling which was lovely. Clean luxurious sheets, beds were comfortable with pillow options. Plenty of space. Large mini fridge in the room. Convenient, Way better than sleeping on the floor of EWR. Wifi did not work. Elevator incredibly slow. Air quality in my room was not great, was pretty stale and overpowered by air freshener. The windows were not openable to add fresh air. Food in the restaurant is subpar, with virtually no clean eating options. There are no other food options in the area, as the hotel is located amidst train tracks, gates, car parks and rental lots that seem to stretch to forever. $2 for a small bottle of Poland Springs bottled water in the vending machine.
The room was very large and quite attractive. The bedding was excellent and we had a great rest before and after our travel overseas. Nothing at all!
The bed!! So comfortable. Also I left my luggage on the shuttle, and they were very helpful in facilitating my getting it back. The plane was late, and the shuttle took much too long to pick up.
nothing difficulty getting to it. Staff not really friendly. Too dark
I liked the customer service! Carlos was our waiter one evening and he was so sweet and friendly. The shuttle drivers were also wonderful. Friendly, professional and very nice!! The breakfast was very good also. The only thing I didn't like was that my bed was not made one day by housekeeping and the did not replenish the coffee nor did they remove the melted ice from the ice bucket. I was very disappointed in that part of the service since, as a mom, I do look forward to going to a hotel to be a little spoiled. I didn't complain to the front desk since the rest of the hotel experience was wonderful!!! All in all I would go there again.
There is nothing to like about this nasty place! Everything!!! Disgusting - so dirty!
There were bugs in the room. The first room they gave me was not even cleaned, towels were still laying on the bed. The next room they gave me I layed in the bed and the next day i noticed a skin irritation turns out to be ringworm. My boyfriend has a rash from the room. It was absolutely horrible. never again and it should be removed from your site.
Frighteningly rundown, didn't end up staying at this hotel becauservices it was so insecure
Impossible to find because address is not correct online, pictures online lie, and unsafe for families.
Young lady at the front desk was personable and nice. The rooms can use some serious upgrades. I'm not saying it has to look like the hotel next door, but with some upgrade and better maintenance would certainly bring in more revenue. I'm a business person. Ceiling was falling apart, iron board looks very antique. Not to mention the TV. There were stains on the ceiling tiles and chair.
The room we booked had a king size bed and that's all that really fit. There was a desk, office chair, dresser, and chair that was crammed into the room and you had to squeeze by everything to move around. We saw a cockroach crawling on the wall and the bathroom door knob was broke so we never shut it as we were afraid to get locked in. There wasn't a blow dryer in the room just an empty wall mount for it, so we asked the front desk for one and they told us we had to return it once we were finished using it, it didn't even work. The ironing board didn't have a cover and there wasn't even an iron in the room, but after the blow dryer issue we didn't bother asking. The hotel shares their parking lot with an airport park and ride so finding parking at the front office was impossible and getting in and out was congested and frustrating. I would not recommend staying here and will never go back.
I liked nothing "housekeeping staff" never cleaned, we asked for a fridge twice and they forgot, the room stinks.
The availability of crack cocaine and pussy. Lights flickereing, all furniture pulled from the walls, no pillows, mirrors & pictures framed crooked, babies screaming, reggaeton blasting, people fighting in the parking lot, dirty bathroom and the smell of mold.
Nothing Parking lot was full of snow and icy... rooms was no where near descent.
cheap beds were bug free didn't not experience the same hot water issues as read in other reviews * room smelled funny * bathroom was dingy * parking was bad due to construction (understandable) but no direction caused a lot of double parking * some people were arguing outside my door all night and morning * you can hear the music from the club next door * doors are thin. due to location and clientele, made this solo traveler uncomfortable
Helpful staff. Great food at Teds! The shabby leather chairs in reception don't reflect the overall quality of the hotel.
Close to Airport , Friendly staff, Good restaurant WIFI was poor on 8th floor . Could not surf internet properly.
Apathetic, robotic staff that did nothing to accommodate traveler that encountered a major issue
Staff was super rude. Room was dirty. Absolutely disgusting
nice updated room. blankets were like brillo
The location to the airport is good. The rooms were just okay. The parking was ridiculous. They did not have enough spots for how many people were there. I can't believe you have to pay for parking when there was not even enough parking to park there. Spent a lot of time driving around the parking lot and parking just where our vehicle would fit....usually no actual parking spots but rather parked on grass or in non parking area and left vehicle there. We asked for towels one night and never got them. The walls are very thin and we could here everything going on in the rooms and hallway. The rooms were not all that clean and the pillows were terrible. I would not stay here again.
We arrived much later than expected at Newark Airport. Fortunately for us, their airport transportation runs 24 hours. Called the front desk a couple of times about the transportation and they were always nice. It was also good to see a 24 hour pantry stocked with some pretty decent quality foods and baked goods, as all the airport concessions had closed with our late arrival. Our room was clean, modern, and nicely appointed. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel. Food in aforementioned pantry was a bit pricey. Bathroom fixtures needed some repair, but admittedly I forgot to tell them when I checked out. Location of the hotel not the greatest if you want to walk out of hotel grounds.
Nothing - rooms were dirty - bad room odour -
Parking was not included
The room was clean. It appears to have been upgraded and the AC was good. If you are there to work, it's quiet and a good place to stay as long as you are willing to put up with the staff's poor attitude. The staff was extremely rude. The fridge did not work and when I reported it to the desk clerk she asked "So... do you want me to send someone to fix it?" Really?! I wonder what she thought was the reason I told them it wasn't working and my drinks were warm. After reporting it three times I finally got maintenance in the room at 9:30 PM, the guy said he'd be back in 10 minutes and never came back. The next day I saw someone in the hallway and told him, he came over and brought a new fridge. More than 24 hours after I first asked for it to be fixed or replaced. I found all the staff to be rude and unwilling to help with the most simple request. There are no restaurants around so you are stuck paying an insulting high price for everything you eat or drink. The breakfast buffet is 14.95 plus tax and you have eggs, sausage and potatoes as "hot" food; fruit and french toast and muffins. Don't expect more.
I liked that it had shuttle No pool or jacuzzi for the prize
no shuttle bus
It was a last minute stay because something fell through on our travel plans. When it's time to check in, they let the guests know that it's a no party policy and make you sign a waiver, which is fine. I dislike the fact that my friends and I had friends staying in the same hotel and when they saw us getting on the elevator, they assumed that we were having a party and proceeded to ask me my room number and tell me that a group of people were going up to my room, which was false. I also dislike that the shuttle is on call because when we called for a shuttle, one never showed up and we were stuck having to find another way back to the hotel. One of the guests staying in the room with me needed a shuttle for 6:45 for a 7:45 flight and was told that the shuttle doesn't start running until 7:00. It's 15 minutes and we are paying customers. They don't care about their guests. Front desk just seems lazy and inattentive when it comes to needs of the guests. I won't be staying here again and I won't recommend it to any friends.
I DIDN'T LIKE THE FACT THAT THEY GAVE ME A SMOKING ROOM WITHOUT ASKING ME IF THAT'S WHAT I WANTED. ALSO, THERE WERE YOUNG PEOPLE STANDING AROUND IN THE LOBBY LOOKING LIKE THEY LIVED THERE. WITH THAT, I HAD TO CALL BACK AND GET ANOTHER HOTEL WHICH TOOK OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER WHIH WAS MIDNIGHT.
Good proximity to Newark airport, and a couple of restaurants within a few minutes walk. Comfortable rooms and beds. The only room available was a smoking room, which wasn't all that bad, as far as smells, etc.
I needed a place to stay that had good enough accommodation for a two night stay. I was just in town for business. The room was pretty nice with updated features overall and was clean. Location was good and close to a mall where i had lunch. The breakfast was enough for me, especially being brand new to traveling. But I believe it would leave others disappointed if they are looking for a more dedicated/sit-down breakfast. It was muffins, granola bars, and fruit with some coffee. "Continental" breakfast. So its definitely more for the quick moving business man. But if you want more food the location is very close to a lot of restaurants and a mall so there isn't much to worry about.
the people were every nice and the food is every good and the late check out is every nice no ther was nothing wrong with it at all
I loved this hotel. Very clean, nice staff at front desk, perfect location and I loved the decor. The only problem I had while staying here was every morning housekeeping woke me up with their very loud conversations in the hallways. There was even some shouting.
Small boutique hotel across from the galloping hill golf course where we attended a wedding. The hotel charged me 2x twice for two of the rooms booked. Horrible experience with unprofessional staff. Billing Staff
1-In my 2nd night in the Hotel, almost during all the night it was vry noisy whith the next door: very loud talking + TV.2- Please for Breakfest pur more Tables to sit down and we were missing eggs
The Hotel is basically designed for people on the road in new Jersey - not sure if I would stay there while in New york.
Good location to NYC (30-45 minutes by car). Good stuff. Clean Room.Good continental breakfast. Too smoked groundfloor. Ventilator didn't work in bathroom. Too loud air conditioner. A bit noisy in Hway side.
Great staff: when I was stranded after a bus mishap they went the extra mile to get a shuttle to me. Very accessible from Newark airport. Remodel has front lobby and breakfast area torn up, giving even more of an industrial feel than the hotel already had.
Our double queen room was updated , clean , and very comfortable for us . Staff was friendly and supportive when the printer wasn't able to print my boarding pass . Location was ideal ! Lobby tables were rickety.
Very clean. Very nice modern rooms. Great value for the money. My only negative was that it was a very narrow path between bed and desk but it wasn't a big deal.
Continental breakfast I would like cleaner rooms and also I think that there are rooms which necessite renovation
Very nice room! They did a very good job on the remodeling of this hotel. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again. Would like to see a better breakfast selection. No protein. Everything was carbs and sugar. Did a very nice job of setting it up though. Also, outside in the parking lot, someone had just dumped their trash in the parking lot. Not the hotel's fault, but it is a shame that this kind of element would be staying here.
everyone was nice from the i check in to the time i checked out no there was not one thing i did not like
Comfortable bed nice staff Needs to be renovated in areas
It's quite convenient, although the area isn't great. Staff was rude. They need to learn how to smile because their vibe was negative.
Easy access to trains, Amtrak & PATH. Food was good. Service very good. Staff very good and nice. Very secure. The room door was slightly off kilter so it made a lot of noise when shutting
Clean, very close to train station. Don't expect to check in before 3pm. Breakfast in the restaurant was terrible. Got the corn beef hash... by far the worse I've ever had.... tremendously overpriced for the quality of food. You will hear the honking from the traffic until approx. 10pm. The area surrounding the hotel is not nice... I would recommend not walking around much.
Bathrooms could have been cleaned a bit better. Seemed to have hairs (not ours) in some areas.
Despite the fact that we were moved to another hotel without prior notice they ensured that all transportation and amenities were covered by them. We were told that we were going to be switched out to another hotel the minute I checked in, despite the fact that I had confirmed my reservation the previous night with kayak and the hotel the day before.
We enjoyed how large the rooms were for the price we paid. Also conveniently located next to Penn Station.
I did like the access to the New Jersey Transit and airport. There are some resturants and shops in the building to pick up anything needed. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful to any questions we had. I did not like a few things in our room, such as, no place to hang a hand towel, the sink counter was badly cracked with a poor fix job, and the hair dryer was very old and weak. It seemed as a left over from another guest. The safety is questionable. I was there with my husband and felt okay but we both felt uncomfortable at times. I would not recommend staying alone or walking the streets at night. If you are there to visit NYC, I highly recommend staying in the city over NJ. With the cost of transportation and time back and forth, you waste time and money.
No running water. Not advertised at the time of booking although they knew there was a scheduled outage for repairs. Had to check out, get reimbursed and go to another hotel upon learning that there was no running water at check in.
The bed was comfortable and stay was good. Don't order order room service . The food was terrible.
Perfect hotel stay. Everything was lovely from the pool, to our hotel room, to the staff. They even welcome you with hot cookies! The best part is the Hilton Double tree is inexpensive :)
Convenient location to the airport and decent shuttle. The warm cookie is always good. The room was not in good shape. The chairs had big stains on them and things were falling apart. When I checked out and showed the front desk person the pictures of the problems of the room she did not apologize but just glanced at it and said she would tell housekeeping.
Shuttle service to and from airport prompt No breakfast provide unlike most in area
The only reason I was at this hotel is because I missed my connection and was rebooked to leave very early the next morning. The airline did not cover the cost of the stay so I had a choice and picked the Doubletree. From booking to check out the stay was a disaster. The shuttle took over 30 minutes because no one at the hotel notified him people were waiting. Upon check in at 11:30 pm I asked for a 4 am wake up call. I confirmed it before I went to my room. At this point, my phone is completely dead, it wouldn't even turn on. I literally plugged it in and fell into bed. The wake up call never came, but thankfully, due to a a leaky faucet that dripped all night long, I never fell deeply asleep and happened to check my watch at 4:18 am. I got ready and went to the lobby to get coffee, which was supposed to be there 24/7 according to the person who checked me in-- nope, coffee service doesn't start until 6:00 am, a change was made last week. If you are stuck at Newark and are looking for a place ro stay, go somewhere else!
Bed was comfertable, room was clean Wall plugs far from bed Showerhead did not function well
The hotel was comfortable and had all the amenities one could need. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to check-in before 11 a.m. without an additional fee, took advantage of the free shuttle to the airport several times to get to the Amtrak station and head into New York City. When our room keys stopped working at we went to the front desk for assistance, not only did the clerk apologize for the inconvenience, but she advised that if it should happen again, we didn't need to return to the front desk. Instead, we could call from a house phone near the elevator on our floor and they would send someone up to assist us. This hotel provided great value for the price and I would definitely stay there again. When I checked out, I inquired about paying for parking. I was told that I would need to pay at the gate when I left since there were no charges on my room bill. However, I was not advised until I pulled up to the gate that they only accept cash there. Luckily, I had enough cash on hand to pay for my 2 nights of parking, but it would've been nice to have the opportunity to pay by credit card or at least forewarning that only cash is accepted at the gate.
Value, and great view inside from inside balcony Got off elevator and looked for room. Sign said rooms 501-527 left and 529-549 right. My room was 528. Figure that out. It was around 2 corners, but room was great in the end.
Very helpfull staff Paid breakfast is not eorth the money
I like that this is a pretty consistent hotel. I've stayed in Doubletrees all over the country and the staff is always friendly, the beds are typically very comfortable and the rooms etc. are always clean. I don't think that customers staying in the hotel should have to pay for parking. It is outrageous to have to make that extra payment when you're already paying a pretty good amount to stay there. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have affordable food in the restaurant. Since you don't have a free breakfast, at least make it affordable.
Everythings good, thank's!! The room is a little old but everything works and very clean!!
Clean room. Good location. Good, affordable room service. There was a strong smell, like citrus cleaning fluid, throughout the hotel. I saw this mentioned on other reviews -- not sure of the issue there. Also, the tub drain was slow, causing buildup during showers. And during part of the stay, the wifi went down.
Lication to the airport at newark Hotel smell not clean
The rates they have are 4star hotel rates and the hotel itself a 2star hotel. No value for my money. Beds aren't comfortable at all. The hotel itself as a whole could use some major renovation. Improvement on staff too. The old guy at the front desk wasn't that welcomimg. Being that close to one of the busiest airports around, a lot of money is being made so doing all those improvements is possible. All around environment
the room was decent the bathrook could be better atleast with fitting shower curtains. the fitness center was convenient also but its closes at 11, what about the guests that work late shifts that want a quick workout? any exceptions? the time the gym closes, no indoor pool, cafe was over priced, there were no king size bed smoking rooms.
Nothing Dirty- biker gang partying all night being rowdy
Every thing Nothing
I liked the shuttle to NYC. The hotel had a strong odor and I'd I need of some repair. Our room had obvious water damage and rust in the bathroom.
Convenient location, provided shuttle to airport very early in the morning. Requested wake-up call but never got one.
It's close to NYC Everything. Never felt welcome. Overall renovation from the staff to the rooms themselves. 4star rates and you get a 2star hotel.
The room was super convenient to the airport and immediately off the hwy The bed was like a prison mattress, paint peeling, and I could hear the neighbors using the bathroom, not the toilet flushing actually USING THE BATHROOM....
Close to airport The room was filthy. There was hair all over the counter and dried toothpaste on the sink. We didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the beds with the rest of the room that dirty.
