Pros: We were on a 6 week trip in Australia and New Zealand. This was by far our best stay. The room is comfortable, extremely clean. The view from the room/balcony is spectacular and the home is beautiful. Paula was fun, attentive, helpful in planning our stay. She helped us put together a really nice afternoon and dinner. We enjoyed our conversations and wished we were staying more than on night. Be aware that low season begins on May 1 and many facilities either close or reduce their hours. Karen J

St Leonards Vineyard Cottages - Blenheim - Building
4
9.6 Excellent (190 reviews)
Overview Reviews
St Leonards, with five self contained cottages, is an original old farm homestead (circa 1886), a good example of early New Zealand colonial architecture, located in a rural and private setting with century-old walnut, gum and elm trees, and now surrounded by vineyards. Stroll around the garden and lemon grove, enjoy a game of tennis in the grass court, play croquet or petanque, relax in the swimming pool, or hire a bike for a ride around the vineyard region.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the WoolShed. It was very warm and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The small farm with sheep, alpacas and chickens and the surrounding vineyards were very peaceful and beautiful. We had a great time!
Cons: The pillows on the bed were not very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property close to all the great wineries of the Marlborough region. The cottage accommodation was very comfortable. Roomy lounge and well equipt kitchen, luxury furnishings and country style decor features. Windows overlooked both a magnificent vineyard and farmland landscape. Breakfast was classic NZ hospitality, generous and delicious, with fresh eggs from the farm. We spent a wet day indoors and made great use of the cosy warm comforts of this sweet cottage. The farm animals were adorable and ran to be petted. Animals accommodation looked ideal too, which speaks volumes of the hosts.
Cons: Zero to add
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit to St. Leonards and will not be our last. Staying on a small farm in the heart of Marlborough wine country is an incredible experience. The hosts are friendly and helpful, the cottages quaint and rustic, and the farm animals charming and friendly. We used the grills for cooking dinner, the hot tub for relaxing after a long day, and at fruit straight off their trees.
Cons: If you are expecting a 5 star luxury experience, this isn't it. This is a farm, and as such there are animals, bugs, and mud. People who are looking for a white linen experience need not book.

The property is beautiful and the owners are very friendly, they provided breakfast to us(we have to cook), free range eggs from their chickens and home made variety of jams(made by Michelle)so YUMMY, plus orange juice, milk, variety of breads and cereal. We did stay in a queen room because the other cottages were booked, but it was good.

Pros: Woodside is charming and beautifully appointed, with lovely furniture and fresh flowers everywhere. Nanette and Steve are warm, welcoming, and provide a delicious breakfast. For me, the greatest pleasure was the chance to stay in a listed heritage house, in a peaceful, private room, with the bonus of a delightful sunroom looking into the garden.

6.3 Good
Pros: Staff went out of their way to accommodate my early start and to ensure there was adequate breakfast available for my needs. Nice place to stay, will consider it next time.
Cons: Felt the credit card surcharge to be way over the top, 1% is bad enough but 5%???? Lack of filtered water available outside of kitchen, water is strongly chlorinated, especially if not used to it. CORRECTION, I have since been informed over the phone that I was wrong and the surcharge was $5, I have tried to apologise to the owner and explain that I misheard her, but she ranted on about how I have lowered the average rating of the place. I was keen to pay for our stay promptly as she had said that she had to leave soon after we arrived, I also did not see the note about surcharge that she kept referring too. This is such a shame, as above we would have possibly stayed there in future. Being challenged on 1 small mistake in a review and we were the paying customer! To top it off, the owner stated, without really knowing who or what we are that we would be better suited to more budget accommodation like a tent. To cap it off, I have just received a text from the owner telling me exactly where I was wrong and that we are not welcome back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, beauty of the house. Use of bikes although we could've had more short bikes, most were for men, but not a major issue. Loved it!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This B+B is a real insider tip. The house itself is wonderful, well-kept and equipped in a very comfortable and elegant style, it has a lovely garden and many nice facilities to sit and relax. The host is absolutely friendly and welcoming, the breakfast is excellent and rich in variety. From the house you can start a nice tour of many of the surrounding wineries and have wine tastings at their cellar doors. Enjoyed everything very much.
Cons: Despite its location on a busy street and some noise arising from that fact, the house still provides a very relaxing atmosphere, thanks to the hedges all around the garden. The description on booking.com said guests can borrow bicyles for free which is not fully correct (only if you stay more than one night, which is okay as long as you know it beforehand). You can still borrow the bikes for a very good price.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable. Quiet location
5.8 Okay
Pros: Informative hosts.
Cons: This is the only place I have been disappointed in during 6 weeks in NZ. The description on booking is not accurate, it also did not state that you had to bring cash to pay for the stay. After my laundry programme had already started, the lady told me that it was $10, without dryer. Nowhere have I ever been charged more than $5 for this service... The place seemed clean but I found a pair of somebody elses socks on the floor in my room. I would not go back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere. We could use the kitchen. Hosts also have a tour company, can recommend the wine tour.
Cons: All was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mike and Sue welcomed us and showed us around their lovely home. Our room was clean and warm, with a heater on and electric blankets for bedtime – it was going to be -1C ! Fresh cut flowers and mints were an extra touch. We had the freedom to prepare a light dinner and spent a very comfortable night. The continental style breakfast was more than adequate and when we were about to leave, Sue appeared with my phone charger ! Thanks for making us feel so welcome.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent. On offer was a wide selection of fruit, cereal as well as yogurt. Toast could be made again with a wide selection of spreads and coffee and tea was available as well as fruit juice.
Cons: Everything was of a high standard and I didn't believe that given the modest cost to stay at this facility that one could expect more. Guests were introduced to one another and all made to feel welcome.

Pros: The owners were very welcoming, we had all we needed and more.
