Pros: Virtually everything about this property is superb. The welcoming staff makes one feel immediately at home upon welcome. The afternoon tea offers a delightful respite from the rigors of the trip to the Inn. Dinners are spectacular in both taste and presentation. No wonder the praises are so plentiful.
Cons: Nothing within their control. I live in the NYC area and wish it were a shorter drive.

8.3 Excellent

Cons: The rooms are in the expensive side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the experience was top notch: the room, the food, the service. The attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff was especially notable. They left a towelette for me to clean my ipad when they straightened my room. The tea was outstanding, best scones and pastries I have had and small so as not to spoil dinner. Dinner was really good. I took the chef tasting menu and each and every course as well as the bread were delicious. This was a very expensive experience, but I do not regret it because all of the aspects were perfect. Besides this, it was a beautiful drive to and from there.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food and great service
Cons: AC didn’t work in room. Had to switch rooms. However, Staff very helpful in moving our possession.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place has an old fashion charm. It is like you are staying in Downton Abbey. Stuff is friendly and very attentive. Having one of the best restaurants in the country is also a big plus.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The arrival and departure were extremely seamless and they removed all the stress from the process. It was the first time that I didn't have to deal with 'paperwork'. Everyone knows who we were once we arrived on property. The staff was warm, friendly and unobtrusive. Housekeeping service was magic as the room was always ready when we returned. They even clean the room when we left for breakfast even though we were leaving on that day itself. It is a place to relax and disconnect from the everyday hassle. Aside for the wifi provided, there is no network service unless you use Sprint so it is just perfect for us. The room is just WOW! My room was in the Carter House that only had a total of three rooms. It was so spacious, and the bed was like a giant cloud. There is a zoo with cute sheep, lambs and lamas! Really hope I can return again in the future.
Cons: There is nothing I don't like about the property. It was perfect.

Pros: Charming B&B just a few blocks from downtown Culpeper. The host, Steven, was very friendly and helpful. Arrived late, headed for dinner in a nice, nearby restaurant, watched some TV in the shared living room, and went to sleep in the big, comfortable bed. Prepared myself a nice breakfast in the morning.
Cons: You have to realize it’s a B&B, and there’s a shared bathroom at the end of the hallway.

Welcome to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites! Discover the true lake experience at Lake Pelham Adventures Park. Lake Pelham Adventures is located at The Ole Country Store & Bakery, off of Route 29 south in Culpeper. They offer canoe, kayak, paddle board and paddle boat rentals. These rentals are a perfect way to spend a warm day. There's no denying it - Culpeper is one of Virginia's hottest dining destinations. Whether you're in the mood for smoked barbecue or the freshest hand-cut sushi, there are a myriad of eateries from which to choose. But it goes much deeper than what's on the menu. The farm-to-table movement is alive and well here, borrowed from a centuries old agricultural heritage, and our chefs prepare what is fresh, right from the farm.Enjoy our complimentary hot breakfast before partaking in a hiking trip to Shenandoah National Park trails, 35 minutes away.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed at this location several times. The consistency of high standards and friendliness of staff, as well as the thorough cleanliness is what impresses us most.
Cons: Of course I would like to see fresher breakfast. I'm not a fan of pre made eggs and bagged gravy, etc.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very welcoming and pleasant.
Cons: The sheets did not feel clean, the mattress was hard as a rock, and the water did not get warm enough in the shower.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was very courteous and helpful, and my stay was very comfortable. The bedding was excellent....firm mattress and yet soft-soft pillows.. It was very easy to relax and sleep well.
Cons: The rugs were just a bit stained in the room. That cannot be helped at times I know, but the stains were noticeable. I'll bet it must be close to spring cleaning time. The rugs in the lobby and the hallways were immaculate. The only thing that occurred that I would have liked NOT to have happened was that my key-cards would not work properly on the side entrance door near the elevators. I tried the card in all directions....both cards....and slowly, quickly, etc., etc. The result was that only one time (the arrival evening) after numerous tries, ONE of the cards actually granted me entrance. After that, the next day which was check-out, I was locked out. A good Samaritan let me in, but 4 of the staff passed me by without an inquiry. I had to make sure that I carried all my luggage out in just two trips, because that door was obviously not going to let me inside again. The key cards did work as they should for entry to my room however, so I thought the side-door problem had corrected itself.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely courteous and professional. Room was clean and spacious.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Big rooms and hot breakfast.
Cons: Cleanliness of the bed. Got bite marks on my arms the last day of the stay. They appear to be bed bug bites.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed talking with the host, Alan. He is very friendly and accommodating. Loved sitting on his Victorian porch in the mornings and evenings, watching a huge screen TV, listening to his bull frogs croaking in a small pond at the edge of the porch and watching the variety of birds visiting his feeder.
Cons: Bedrooms are upstairs and comfortable but know that there are some steps to climb. Not sure if there is a bedroom on the lower floor.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a nice old house with a very nice host (and parrot). He really made you feel welcome. Great location and price if you want to go hiking in the Shenandoah National Park. Excellent breakfast and service.
Cons: If I would have been more insecure, I probably would have felt safer with a locked door to the house and a proper lock with a key to the bedroom. Detail: it would have been easier with the WiFi password posted in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host Alan was amazing. His breakfasts were delicious and filling allowing us to go out and explore without thinking about food well into the afternoon. He made us feel at home, gave us great information about where to eat, and what to see. We were also lucky enough to meet an AWESOME couple who came in the last night and spent several hours conversing and laughing with them and Alan before we had to leave... B&B at its BEST!!!
Cons: The weather that was cold and rainy every day we were there
6.8 Good
Pros: Food was great and our host was great!
Cons: We prefer that the bathroom to be in room... The rating would be much higher if not for the smoky smell throughout the house. This may not bother some people but it was an issue for us.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great breakfast and location.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Breakfast and location were great. Alan is nice. That’s about it
Cons: Uncomfortable, smelled like smoke, AC didn’t work, room too small bed was very uncomfortable

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was extra comfortable. Slept better there than at home. Also enjoyed talking with the bird.
Cons: The weather.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Our innkeeper Alan was great and his home was lovely. I picked the B&B because it reminded me of my own house, dark board and batten with cedar siding, nestled in the woods, quirky in a good way. I wish we could have enjoyed more of the amenities like the outdoor decks and patios, but alas we were there for work.
Cons: Alan wasn’t able to really accommodate our time schedule with breakfast, so we were never really able to enjoy what other reviewers raved about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So clean. Spotless. Quirky, everything was thought of.
Cons: Nothing

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The friendly greeting and efficient orienation to the room, amenities, tourist tips, parking. Location was excellent. Within walking easy (as in same street) distance of very attractive shops and good restaurants. Also located within 20 minutes of the location are some very interesting Civil War sites, well managed by the Civil War Trust. People very friendly. Housekeeping staff was outstanding. The housekeeping supervisor introduced herself to us and was very gracious in making our stay as pleasant as possible. Street and shops tastfully decorated for the Holidays. The bakery accross the street is awesome. Amtrack access is across the street.
Cons: Bed in room had a definite uncomfortable "sag". I'm sure they were unaware, otherwise would have been corrected
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Privacy, quaint room
Cons: THe music that penetrated through the wall until 2am
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very convenient to wander around downtown. Certainly felt like a boutique hotel vice the normal experience in a cheaper chain hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Steam shower was amazing, luscious bedding, towels and robes were provided. Nice view...fireplace was icing on the cake!
Cons: Stairs were steep and long, but manageable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are spacious, very nicely decorated, wonderful bathroom, comfortable bed, lovely fireplace.
Cons: There is no way to change it, but the stairs to the upper rooms are VERY steep and numerous. Most definitely wouldn't work out for many people, especially carrying luggage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room. Bathroom spacious and beautifully done. Convenient to downtown, restaurants and shopping.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was fabilous, loved everything about it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a great location. I could poke around in called pepper's wonderful shops and my husband could miss that
Cons: No offstreet parking
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful. Clean. Nice linens. Fireplace
Cons: Wish it had a small microwave. We are tea drinkers, not coffee drinkers so something more tea friendly. And because I also tend to bring breakfast food such as scones and such do to my restricted diet for Lyme disease so microwaves help. It would be nice if fireplace created more fire and a table to play a game or something. Thank you. Will be back in July for a balciny suite:-)!!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: I like the design of the room, good use of space.
Cons: Too many mirrors.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was ok. Food could have been hotter.
Cons: All was good. The mattress was a little hard.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The beds were comfortable, staff were welcoming, sheets and towels were very clean, and the breakfast was good.
Cons: There was an awful smell coming from the aircon, so much so that the we had to turn it off. This made for a very hot, uncomfortable night's sleep. The hotel is too far out if town to easily walk to the main street. There are restaurants around but they're all big, bland chain restaurants. For the quality of accommodation, we felt the price was too high.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. It was close to the old downtown area, and my friends live just south of Culpeper so it was convenient in a few ways. The breakfast was superb. The eggs were tasty and the bacon crisp (not greasy). The other items were all good and the serving area was extremely clean and well-attended by the serving staff. The room was very clean, and well-stocked with towels.
Cons: Not much to complain about here, although I prefer a very firm mattress which I seem to find nowhere in any hotels. I would like to suggest that there should be a closing lid on the toilet for sanitary reasons.
7.4 Good
Pros: Staff friendly and facility was clean
Cons: Rooms were very small- only two people can fit in the queen rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Super clean room.

Cons: Bathroom could have had more counter space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast looked good but we didn't eat any. Had a lot of coffee. Everything was great and the staff was very helpful
Cons: Shower was kind of tall. I'm 68 and 5'6 and I had some trouble getting in and out. No big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice variety. Even had fresh strawberries and grapes. Loved the mini waffles. Every morning they have a different menu so if you stay multiple nights, you can expect a variety every morning. The room is very comfortable. It is a well maintained hotel. AC works great. Very clean.
Cons: Only 3 pillows. If there are 2 of us sharing the bed, it's nice to have 2 pillows each. But not a deal breaker. Ice maker is only on first floor. But again, not a deal breaker. Good thing is there is purified water right by the ice maker.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and very well maintained. Peaceful area of Culpeper.
Cons: There was only one book for area information (restaurants, churches, attractions and such) It was at the front desk. I think each room should have a copy.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: They offer a very nice breakfast, the room was very comfortable. We will definitely stay again.
6.8 Good
Pros: Bed was comfy
Cons: Older motel. They first rented us a room that was already occupied and I walked in the room with beds unmade and tv on and trashed. Was horrified and had to go back to front desk to get a different room which they only did after checking to see if I was telling the truth. But it all worked out in the end.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast & the pool!
Cons: The part of the durtain that gives you privacy was very worn out & you could see through it! I had to pin up a sheet I had in mu car so we would have privacy. Other than tgat it was nice!

Pros: William was OUTSTANDING!!! Had a slight problem w/my room & despite having a bus load and being the only staff member handling check-in on a busy Friday, he handled it promptly without missing a beat. His courteous and professional manner were exemplary and a credit to this Hotel. I will stay here again because of his phenomenal Customer Service!!!
1.0 Poor
Pros: It has a restaurant beside the reception.
Cons: It's literally a motel. Not a 3-star hotel. The reception and the rooms are in separate buildings. No gates for the rooms. Kinda nervous when sleeping.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The room was clean and nice, free breakfast
Cons: The service was horrible especially in the restaurant. That was our first time staying at Best Western. The staff was extremely rude. They were busy and maybe they were just overwhelmed with the amount of customers, but we wont be staying at another B

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the cutest B&B ever. It's incredibly clean, beautifully decorated and perfectly located in the town of Sperryville. The owners, Kevin and Sherri, are extremely helpful and friendly, and they somehow manage to run the B&B and manage their adjoining alehouse without a hitch. Speaking of which, their beer is great, as was the breakfast. My husband and I are so glad we chose Hopkins Ordinary! I had no idea what to expect when I booked it, but I couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely stay there again when we're back in the area.

Pros: Kevin and Sherri were fantastic hosts and took great care of us! Beautiful historic property, delicious food, top notch beers, wonderful experience.
Cons: Wish we could have stayed longer! :-)
