This gorgeous Rocky Mountain retreat is right at the base of Breckenridge Ski Resort! In fact, from this two bedroom Breckenridge vacation rental you can walk to the mountain, ski slopes, and the cute, lively downtown area. And as if that weren't enough, the amenities here are wonderful - you'll have a shared fitness center, shared pool, sauna, and hot tubs to pick from.
Settle back on the cozy sofa or red plush chair, in front of the toasty gas fireplace. There's a flat screen TV with a DVD player for a relaxing evening in. Or just curl up with a good book while the snow comes down outside. The interior is reminiscent of a mountain cabin in the woods and if you step out on the deck, you can breathe in some fresh mountain air.
On evenings that you don't want to head out to one of the area's popular restaurants, the kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stovetop/oven, dishwasher, microwave, and coffeemaker. When you plan a meal in, there's even a lovely distressed wood table for spending a leisurely evening with a bottle of wine and plates of home-cooked food. There's also a breakfast bar for quick snacks or setting up your laptop to use the WiFi to find a recipe online.
The master bedroom has a king sized bed and luxurious, white, fluffy linens. There are bedside tables and reading lamps, as well as a TV for late night channel surfing. The second bedroom has two twin beds - perfect for the kids. Both full bathrooms have plenty of counter space and tub/shower combos. This Vail / Beaver Creek vacation rental will comfortably sleep up to four guests, with a maximum occupancy of five.
Community amenities at Mountain Thunder Lodge include beautiful grounds, a heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, and a gym with a sauna. And if you need to do laundry during your stay, there is a shared laundry room just down the hall.
From here, you can ski-in and take the Breckenridge Gondola out. It's just a short stroll to town for shopping or to pick up ingredients for dinner. There are also plenty of restaurants and galleries to explore. And then there's the ski resort! Breckenridge boasts 34 lifts and over 2900 skiable acres, making it an exhilarating winter experience. And if you're more of a snowshoe or cross-country fan, the Breckenridge Nordic Center has miles of pristine groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. For the adventurous, there's even snow kiting - just let kite power to pull you along on the snow.
If you're planning a summer retreat to this Breckenridge vacation spot, you won't be disappointed. The Breckenridge Summer Fun Park has a roller coaster, the Alpine Superslide, and 4X4 tours. On foot, you can go on a mountain hike surrounded by wildflowers, or cycle miles of scenic mountain bike trails. Play a round of golf at the Breckenridge Golf Club, or just stay in, open the door to the deck, and relax with a good meal and a movie.
No matter what time of year you plan a stay at this Mountain Thunder Lodge unit, it would be hard to find a better location for your Breckenridge getaway! For a family vacation you won't soon forget, this Rocky Mountain getaway will have you skiing, hiking, and relaxing the moment arrive.
Beautiful place. We were on our own and really had no need of staff other than housekeeping. Good value and great location and ease of access to Breckenridge shopping and dining. It would have been nicer to have a more comfortable bed and sheets; which were like sleeping on paper on a hospital table. Did not like that we did not have a method of controlling temperature in the room; thus having to leave the windows open at night made for a very noisy night being right against a major road and bus depot. (air conditioning would have been nice; even though it is chilling most evening; it was not during our stay) So a nights rest was not something we were able to obtain. If we had been planning an extended stay; we would have only needed to supply food. All ammenties in the full kitchen were there. Even the corkscrew for a bottle of wine to be shared on the balcony.
We went there on our Spring Break from March 9th through the 19, 2012. It was like having our own private chalet. the staff was extremely friendly and provided all kinds of insight on where to eat and where to hike. We look forward to skiing there again.
I visited in August with my family and this hotel was a great value at that time of year! The nightly rate for a 2BR condo was comparable to a regular hotel room. The room was beautifully decorated, modern/rustic with large rooms and a full kitchen. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens. There were three hot tubs and an outdoor swimming pool, gas BBQ grills and beautiful landscaping around the property. There was no air conditioning, but with daily high temps of 70 degrees, this wasn't an issue. There is a laundry room on each floor with free washer/dryer use. Maid service comes every day, which was a nice surprise at a condo. Hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. It's a walk of a block to the Breck-Connect gondola and a block to get to Main Street. Can't say enough positive things about this hotel.
We had two families staying in the 2 bedroom condos. Both were comfortable clean and perfect for what we needed for summer week's stay. Staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. Room was cleaned daily. The location in Breck is excellent for getting to Main Street, about 3-4 blocks away. Also, 2 blocks from the grocery store, and one block from the Peak 8 Gondola. Appears to be a ski-in location during the winter. Free shuttle will pick you up around town. We didn't move our car while we were there because we could either walk through town and back or take the shuttle. The only cons are minor: $20 'resort fee' per day adds up, limited covered parking (in the Winter), I would prefer nicer kitchen utensils, and small TV in our rooms (other condo had flat screens).
Ski in / out. The lodge is minutes away from the city lift and convenient to resturants and nightspots. Parking is underground. Staff is very professional and helpful
We loved our stay at Mountain Thunder. The condo was lovely and spacious, and we particularly enjoyed the daily maid service and shuttle to EVERYTHING in town. You could literally park in the underground garage and never move your car during the entire stay. Front desk personnel were extremely helpful and the ski locker-included-in-stay was so convenient. Excellent location at base of Peak 8 with a ski-in feature that was great for the last run of the day. We'll definitely be going back to Mountain Thunder!
My family stayed in one of the townhomes in August 2007 and had a positive experience. The townhomes are privately owned and are in a booking pool through the hotels. The townhome had two bedrooms, fireplace, two bathrooms, complete kitchen and livingroom/dining room area, and garage. The accomofations were clean and very comfortable. There is also a patio backing up to a wooded area. The hotel has a lovely pool area with ahot tub. The hotel is about a 2 block walk to town but while you are on the grounds you feel very secluded. The only negative point, if there was one, is the side where are townhome was located is below a road leading up to the mountain, which made it a litte noisy at night. We are considering retruning in July 2009.
The Mountain Thunder Lodge is a terrific place to stay for skiiers. It is a short walk to the gondola which accesses several ski mountains. Best of all, one can ski directly to the Lodge at the end of the day. And at the end of the day, the outside hot tubs were fantastic. Service was terrific. The staff was always very courteous and diligent. Their vans will shuttle you anywhere in town, so conveniently. I normally don't tip at hotels but left a generous tip for the cleaning person because our condo was always so well attended to. When we ski again at Breckenridge, we will definitely stay there. It is first-class!
Great place. Comfortable, easy walk to town. Across the street from gondola for winter skiing. Newer and well kept.
