We stayed at the Waterford for the Notre Dame Orientation events. The staff was very friendly and prepared to handle all the parents. The Saturday and Sunday hot breakfasts had a good variety of items. Our room was a little musty, but it was large and a great value.
Great value for grandparents visiting grandchildren 1/2 way stopping point mid-week on way from Ohio to Chicago Friendly staff. Fit our budget well and was clean and not a chain. It's a little older place but we liked it that way. We don't need to spend over $ 100 a nite just to rest and wake up refreshed
Moldy bathtub. Black residue in bathtub. Overwhelming musty smell. Note with room key warms of frequent vehicle break ins. Ugly and depressing facility. Black Mold growing on bathroom fixtures. 1st floor curtains not close. Sunday night stay felt unsafe.
Always friendly and helpful
The rooms were decorated well and the price was very good. The Pub was very spacious and clean. Although we did not eat in the Pub the menu is extensive. The shower/bath needs updated. The parking lot was very icy upon our departure. Some one salted the walkway but not the parking lot?
Although very polite, the front desk employee was not aware that her sundries shop did indeed have contact lens solution. It would have saved me a trip to the drug store had she thoroughly checked. Employees should always be aware of what is stocked in their sundries shop.
We had an incident on the floor that police got involved. It was a domestic problem involving other travelers. The management team was very helpful and considerate to us.
We had a great stay. We arrived late and they had everything ready for us. Food was good and the place was clean.
Free Breakfast was delicious
Quick and friendly front desk. Comfortable bed, well kept room with nice and comfortable furniture. Front lobby was more than I expected. Serviceable bar area. 48 channels of TV in room. Breakfast was as expected - stunningly average, fine for kids. Fresh fruit salad would have been a nice touch . The carpet was clean but looked past its prime considering the rest of the room was good or very good. The shower was really in need of re-engineering. When you turn it on the water will hit you and run into the room. Huge bathroom with a tiny shower stall, strange.
stay there whenever i visit my family in south bend sometimes two times a year nothing wrong all pretty good
The Morris Inn is located on the beautiful Notre Dame campus so it is a great place to take a walk or run and there is a great campus bookstore nearby. The service and the rooms are great. The only minor drawback is that you either have to park your car about a five minute walk from the hotel or pay $20 for valet parting. We parked at the entrance, took our bags to our room and then parked the car ourselves and it was not difficult. This is really an outstanding hotel.
The room and the service were superb
It was a good value for the money. Clean and comfortable - that's all that mattered.
This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations. We were in the middle of a long road trip and just wanted a clean place to crash, but for the money, we couldn't have asked for a nicer place. The late-night desk guy was welcoming and quick. Can't speak to the continental breakfast because we slept through it, but that tells you how nice the beds were! It's your middle family kind of hotel as far as amenities, but I had a great night's sleep. Convenient traveler's location, right off I-80.
All those on staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of parking with good restaurants within walking distance and shopping not far away. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Appreciated the signs posted which informed residents that "Quiet Hours" began at 10:00pm for those coming in late. The stairways could use a carpet cleaning. At the complimentary breakfast, thermoses should be used exclusively for either "Hot Water" or "Coffee" but not interchanged as coffee left a residue in the thermos that affected the flavor of the hot water and made for tea taste like coffee :-(
Surprisingly clean. For the price, I'm always expecting a compromise. It didn't feel like a compromise here.
I was very pleased with my stay and I will book at this hotel again the next time I travel to South Bend!
Clean: ok rates No microwave and no fridge. I asked for a room with those BASICS and they told me my rate would be $20 more for the one night! Hello, this is 2015 - a microwave and small fridge are no big deal to put in a room. Standard equipment that one does not need to ask for. Breakfast was basically a glorified continental breakfast.
Small room feels like a cell
Good overnight stay for traveling Safe clean a few restaurants in area nice again not crowded we stayed there on the way to our destination and on the way back If you are ordering pizza and such I would suggest cheers pub right up the road. Locally owned pizza joint something for everyone Good wifi Great value We paid 70.00 on saturday night thanksgiving so what is there not to like!
This was a great hotel. Very clean and had a fantastic breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. All the brown furniture and "old" looking colors where not that attractive but all of the furniture and fixtures were new. New bathtub, sink, toilet, furniture, ect. Weird to me. Only problem was that the bathtub drained real slow. I'm sure its a common thing for hotels.
I realize it is one of the closest hotels to Campus on the north side but not enough hotel for the rise in rates for Irish home games
Great value and suite had a great layout for business meeting. Had a conference call scheduled late for check out time and staff accomodated additional 30 minutes in room with no problem.
The bed and bath was very good. Breakfast was not inviting. That said the food was not bad.
The bed was very comfortable and the pool area was nice Did not like the room set up especially how and where the tv was mounted it did not turn far enough to watch it from the couch or the bed so it was annoying
The Hotel was nice with friendly staff. My Room was by stairways on third floor. From the time I checked in, until the time I left. My room shook like a track meet was going on in the hall way and above my room. From 9-2am the pounding was unbearable. Will not stay again.
Room size, cleanliness, style No
Rooms are all suites and very convenient to have a full kitchen and full refrigerator. The living room space is a nice size. Mirror and sink are outside if the bath/toilet area so someone can get ready while another person is showering or using bathroom. The cleaning staff is not very good. There was dust and they didn't make beds one night. They removed garbage and used towels, but did not provide new towels or more toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner or soap. Front desk staff was fabulous.

The hotel is located in an area that does not have access to very good restaurants and I did not feel safe walking to the restaurants that were near by. Our air conditioner broke shortly after we checked it. The staff moved us to a new room.
Clean with friendly staff. The beds were s but stiff and the in-room coffee maker a dirty

This hotel was friendly, plenty of room in the lounge area, and an unexpected happy hour after a long drive.
The receptionist in the morning was very helpful, willing to help out in any way. We had some vehicle trouble on the the trip in and arrived at 12:00 am and they did not have my reservation. we then ended up with the worst room in the hotel, there was an outside bar across the street, the side door to the hotel next to our door and the kitchen ended up on the other side of our room. We were awoken early in the morning with the staff making breakfast, I went to check on what all of the noise was and found out we were next to the kitchen, that is when I found out that there were other rooms available. I learned in the morning that there were other rooms available and she could not understand why we ended up in room 114. I had a feeling that i was treated differently at check in because I booked my room thru Kayak instead of Ivy Court direct, I will not stay at this hotel again.
Clean comfortable beds and pillows. Quiet.
This Hampton Inn is in need of renovation. Did not meet our usual expectations.
We had a wonderful stay at this motel albeit only one night. There was a large baseball tournament in the area with many participants staying at this motel, but there was no noise or running through the halls that might be expected.
A big bed bug on the bed
We were very impressed with this hotel. Extremely convenient location for St. Mary's College, Holy Cross College, and Notre Dame. Particularly convenient for St. Mary's literally right next to the campus. You can walk onto the campus from the hotel parking lot. Very nice property with beautiful interior. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. And the rates were extremely reasonable. Mindy checked us in and made us feel extremely welcome!
The attentive staff at the buffet breakfast assisted with options for the hearty, heart healthy an child diners. The facilities were clean and welcoming. Comfortable pillowtop mattresses and the choice of pillow fitness was an unusual and welcome surprise . The unusual shower access was demonstrated by the front desk staff which was much appreciated with ease of use and full steam ahead at shower time. Wifi is a must at hotels these days and was easily accessed and provided free of charge.
Our room had plenty of space with, breakfast was decent for a continental breakfast, staff was friendly. I would stay here again if I was passing through again.
We got back at 2 am after a night of visiting friends and the manager had ordered himself a pizza. He basically made us take some, and we were all too willing to enjoy it! That basically sums up 99% of the staff we interacted with! Nice and clean and the whole building seemed brand new. Definitely recommend We did have to wait 45 minutes for our room but there was a mass exodus from a baseball team because of the weather (tourney rained out) so the cleaning staff was a little confused on which rooms were needed right away. Personally, I would have fired the girl for back talking to the receptionist. She was the 1% I refereed to above
Leaving this hotel after 2 fire alarms at 5:50 am!! Dirty Pool! Dirty floors in pool area. Customer service is dismal! 2 Fire ALARMS at 6:00 am. !!! Left message with the manager to call me and he never has done so! Left message with the front desk to have the manager call me and re-reimburse my night stay which was wrecked by the Fire alarm in the AM! Noisy people in the hallway. Broken door jam for the room! Unclean floors in room! Do not stay here! It is not a clean or quiet place at all!
Previous person's lubber band was left. And some hair was still attached to the bathroom wall. Other than those, everything was clean, yet the smell of the soap or some cleaning supplies was not good.
Cheap The bed was filled with hairs (not ours), the staff was unkind
It was convenient and the staff is helpful. The location is excellent. The pool was down because the water was cloudy and bad. They promised to do a "shock treatment" but the water remained bad.
Everything... Nothing NOT to like. VERY close to St. Joseph beach and all the amenities around the area. VERY clean room. We were able to check in early AND check out LATE!!!!. They used texting to help coordinate the process. This hotel has rooms with LOFT options!! LOFT!! I think it's a great idea to be honest. (our room did not have a loft - our room was HUUGGEE) The desk staff were VERY nice and the cleaning ladies on our floor (3rd VERY NICE) and warm to our son - which is important to me! I will stay here again when we return to St. Joseph/Stevensville - the place is second to none After the breakfast closed at 10am sharp the saturday we were checking out (8/15/15); the breakfast lady was cleaning up.. no problem, she has to do her job. I asked if she could unlock the juice machine so I can get my 6yr old son some apple juice (hotel cup, not a LARGE cup). She was short and tone was not nice... no, my manager said when it's closed.. it's closed.. I cannot open it..period.. I was like.. wow.. I said.. just for two seconds, he's six not 25.. it's like 9 oz of juice in a cup.. no, I cannot open it.. my manager said no.
Room and overall facilities appeared recently renovated and nice overall. There were two easily accessible power outlets on the each bedside lamp, I haven't seen this often and found it very helpful. In-room microwave and mini fridge were a huge plus. Hotel is located across the street from Meijers so its easy to go pick up any little essentials you forgot to bring along. The girls at the front desk were very helpful in recommending a place for dinner. (Grand Mere Inn was great, try the lake perch!) Elevator made a weird noise every time it arrived at our floor. The door to our room stuck and needed a lot of extra force to open and close. Avoid the scrambled "eggs" and "gravy" on the breakfast bar, they're not good at all. Room rate was pretty high for what you got but was less than most comparable properties in the area.
