We liked the free parking in the garage (we were lucky to get the last spot at the arrival). Facilities and equipment (including IKEA tables for 5 euros in the corridors) are not suitable for a 5 star hotel, however we are not complaining as, at least our rate (weekend?) was not anywhere close to a price of a serious 5 star hotel. So, apart from not being able to sleep, one could say that at least in our case we got what we paid for. Breakfast was nothing special, but satisfactory. We are sure there are many other things good things to mention about this hotel, however you should be aware that guests that could not sleep tend to see things a bit more critically.
We have booked and paid through booking.com. Only after paying we received a message from the hotel that they are organising a party that will take all night. We called the property, but they had rather rudely lectured us that the infomation about this was available in the fine print at booking.com and that we should have checked beforehand. They were not willing to do anything about it apart from booking us into a room on the second floor (wedding parties were at the 5th and 6th floor). And indeed the unbearable noise started around 9:30 pm and lasted until about 3:30 am. We complained after 10 pm and the reception said they would try to get the volume down (we are talking about LIVE music here with all the basses etc.), however that was not the case. It was simply impossible to sleep. Now we do understand that "we were warned in the fine print". But this is simply not acceptable. Any serious hotel, let alone five star hotel, shouldn't be allowed to simply wash their hands by claiming all was in the fine print. Hotels are primarily meant for SLEEPING and are useless if the guests cannot do so. Checking later we noticed that the fine print mentions possible disturbances. This is simply incorrect. They should write that anybody who wanted to have some rest shouldn't book into this hotel when wedding and similar parties are organised. Marshal Garde hotel should start reconsidering what their core business is. If they want to be a club, fine. But you can not run any hotel, let alone five star hotel, at the same time as running a club in the upper floors. We understand the need of extra revenue, but normal guests who are there to sleep cannot appreciate it. Fine print or not. We noticed in the hotel responses that they were defensive, even rude sometimes, when guests in their reviews mention this issue. This should not be the case. Please take this review positively and work on the issue. And don't write about your average score etc.
I will start by saying: please review the stars criteria because this hotel is hardly a FOUR stars. The best with this hotel is the staff, very service minded and helpful. The room size was good but on the other side extremely expensive. The bed was comfortable but the extra bed for my son was awful. The breakfast was ok but quite limited fruits and vegetables offer. The location is also ok quite close to the city center and all attractions.
One of the main reasons I chose a hotel is that it has a gym so I can train every day. This pretended 5 stars hotel has the smallest gym I have ever seen, in a small room, uninspiring looking over a wall and 3 out of the four gym equipment in the gym did not work at all!!! Secondly, on Saturday night there was a wedding at the top floor restaurant, music was so loud until early in the morning. No possibility to sleep.
I arrived unwell and unexpectedly stayed for a month. Compared with other breakfasts in other Bucharest hotels this was excellent. A wide selection of foods to cater for different tastes. Reception staff consistently polite and went out of their way to cater to my needs. Housekeeping staff respected my privacy and restaurant staff provided great service. Bed comfortable - just as well because I spent a lot of time in it.
Only one member of staff treated me poorly and I'm sure he won't remain a member of staff for long because the others guessed who it was. The parties held every weekend are a great source of revenue for the hotel but other guests are kept awake into the small hours by the music. Very variable and intemittent wifi
The staff was very friendly, the rooms were cleaned daily, the room was very spacious and the breakfast was really nice with a huge selection. The wifi was very fast when it worked, and I was really happy with my choice of hotel.
The sheets had some minor stains on it, but nothing too worrying so I did not say anything. As the staff was very helpful, I think they would have changed it right on the spot. Other than that, I cannot really complain about anything. The wifi was not always working in my room, but this was no issue for me.
Beautiful and clean rooms. Great breakfast on the roof. Good location, parking . Excellent hotel!!
There is non.. loved it all!
