Pros: The bedroom was amazing, with a very comfortable bed, furniture to put our stuff in, modern strong shower. Splendid breakfast with wonderful homemade jams, bread and yogurt. Our hosts were really friendly but not intrusive. The location is ideal to see the neolithic sites in Avebury. And conveniently close to a great pub serving good food. It was absolutely perfect!
Cons: Everything was wonderful!
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Lovely B&B with wonderful hosts. The cooked breakfast with homemade bread and jams was lovely. I also liked that there was fresh milk in your room for hot drinks. The house itself was pretty with some lovely finishing touches. Definitely recommend this place.
Cons: I liked everything about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, very clean and well appointed property, comfortable and homey, delicious breakfast. Would invite others to stay here.
Cons: No faults with the property, just be aware that the area is a blackspot for mobile communications, so make any arrangements in advance. Also if not travelling by car, the place will give you a nice map of access on foot, but it is not navigable after dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely B&B, great location for Avebury. Great Breakfast and a warm welcome. I would stay again at the drop of a hat. Private parking and a lovely pub over the road.
10.0 Excellent

9.7 Excellent (101 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow! Being the only guests and having a suite of rooms in a graded historic home with such thoughtful touches was a real treat. They thought of everything- fresh bread, cookies, a bath bomb, a cozy throw for the sofa - really thoughtful and appreciated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Despite our late arrival we had a lovely welcome from Jacquie to this stunning and spotless flat on the first floor of this charming historic property in the centre of Lacock. Wonderful taste in decor - all wood and white and stone with beams and leather chesterfield with matching coffee table. The whole thing was exquisitely arranged - uncluttered and peaceful with a view onto the jewel that is Lacock. Unmissable - go if you can!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in centre of idyllic village. Local pub opposite and excellent Sign of the Angel restaurant 100 yards round the corner. Wasnt expecting any breakfast but fresh bread butter jam cereals and tea and coffee with fresh milk and orange juice all provided.
Cons: Kettle kept cutting out but informed owners and they will replace.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bread for breakfast was wonderful
Cons: Would have liked some cheese or eggs to have with the bread. Maybe an electric egg steamer in the room. Or even just yogart
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming bedroom and small sitting room with bathroom just next to it. Continental breakfast all ready in the room so could be taken when you wanted it. All spotlessly clean and tidy. I only stayed one night in order to attend an event but it would be a great base to explore Lacock and the nearby area. Places to eat out only just down the road.
Cons: If you want a cooked breakfast then you would have to go down the road - where it would be available. Bathroom is not en suite as such but absolutely not a problem.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lots of character, friendly hosts. Comfortable.
Cons: Perhaps a table ,or coffee table would be useful
10.0 Excellent

Talbot House Lacock - Chippenham - Building
3
9.9 Excellent (49 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was my first stay at Talbot House and as well as being clean, comfortable and spacious, Talbot House is located on the edge of the very picturesque village of Lacock. Rosy, the proprietor, is very friendly and pleasant with nothing being too much trouble. Breakfast was very tasty with good choices available. The little touches such fresh milk, orange juice, and homemade fudge being provided in the accommodation topped off a great stay!
Cons: There was absolutely nothing to dislike, A real gem that I will try and book whenever I am in the area in the future!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rosie the host was so warm and welcoming. Lovely, comfortable room and a great location to the centre of Lacock.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were made very welcome and we loved the little sitting room. It was perfectly situated on the edge of Lacock village and the breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was perfect and the location was excellent Lacock is a lovely place and I enjoyed my time there very much. The accommodation was way above my expectations lots of room with my own private space and I would love to stay there again. Rosie the owner is so nice she took great care of me and then gave me a lift to the train station in Chippenham she is a a real star.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Talbot House is a great place to stay. Rosie is a wonderful host with lots of information about the local area including places to visit and how to get there. The home made breakfast was excellent. Talbot Hose is for those looking for a personal, warm home style experience.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: A lovely suite and an excellent location for a relaxed weekend. Great breakfast, very comfy bed and cosy room. Rosie is a superb host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rosie went out of her way to cater for my dietary requirements for breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, Rosie was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful, the accommodation was spotless and very comfortable and the village as beautiful and pretty central for all of the places we wanted to visit. Will definitely be visiting again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An outstanding B&B which is actually in the village of Lacock. I could not fault anything. Rosie and Tilly are very accommodating and pleasant hosts. This B&B which only has 1 bedroom for guests has been well thought through in terms of design of accommodation, which has been planned to make your stay as pleasant as possible. You basically have your own wing up a separate stair case. The toilet adjoins the bedroom as does your own private lounge. There is no sitting on the bed to watch TV, you have your own private lounge complete with a TV with lots of stations and a fridge stocked with proper milk, water and orange juice. There is also a container of home made fudge. The furnishings and toiletries are high quality. The toilet adjoins the bedroom. Breakfast is plentiful, locally sourced as much as possible and superb. There is ample parking and a beautiful garden to sit in. The B&B is a very short walking distance from The George pub in Lacock. I would not consider anywhere else to stay in this area now I have stayed at Talbot House and I have stayed in Lacock before.
Cons: I cannot think of anything I did not like.

Pros: Excellent stay overnight, beautifully decorated and very warm. Will definately be staying here again.
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice location, comfortable bed and good breakfast.
Cons: More attention to cleanliness. There were cobwebs and balls of dust in the bedroom, hairs in the bottom of the bath and toothpaste residue in the sink, on the taps and splashed on the mirror upon arrival.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was hard to find as the name was only on the gate which was open and not visible when we first drove past. We do not have satnav so a little more info would have been good. The accommodation was very good and breakfast was well cooked and served with a smile.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, relaxing accommodation, good location.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was absolutely beautiful, highlight was the roll top bath and rain forest shower. Really lovely to be welcomed by fresh cake and tea. The board games are a nice touch, we enjoyed playing them. The bed was sooooo comfy!
Cons: Would of liked a slightly later check out time and the breakfast cut off at 9am. That is quite early to finish breakfast. Also, the windows look straight out onto the carpark so there is no privacy unless you close the curtains (so then it's dark)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful find in a perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds. Great accommodation, stylish decor, very comfortable, every detail thought of. Excellent breakfasts and very friendly staff.

Pros: Ellie is fabulous, nothing is too much. She even ironed my daughters clothes for her school assessment at St Mary's Calne! And she cleaned her trainers.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most beautiful house, magnificently but tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in, and the room was gloriously quiet. Breakfast was absolutely scrumptious (I had a bacon and mushroom omelette, fabulous!), as was the toasted homemade bread and fresh coffee. The attention to detail makes it all the more special, right down to the melon-balled butter and linen napkins. Ellie is the perfect host, incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating, with a great knowledge of the history of the area (and exquisite taste in eclectic art!). If you’re looking for the perfect place to stay in Calne, this is it!
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was first class. The cleanliness was second to none. The food was excellent cooked to order and excellent produce. Ellie was a very interesting and homely person running her establishment with passion. Looking forward to visiting again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: An absolute gem! Gorgeous, comfortable room with tea & coffee facilities and fresh milk if wanted. I loved the little guest lounge and even nodded off, reading a book in the oh-so comfy armchair. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade wholemeal sourdough toast and a very generous pot of tea -more if I’d wanted it. Ellie was absolutely wonderful- very friendly, warm and generous with her time and even telephoned me to let me know I’d left something behind (as she knew I was still local). I will definitely stay again when next visiting the area and do not hesitate to recommend Heritage B & B. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Ellie.
Cons: Nothing - all was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house was entirely refurbished with quality finishings and beautiful decoration. The hostess, Mrs. Ellie Farago, was very kind and ready to assist us in all our needs. The breakfast were superb. I would recommend this bed & breakfast blindly.

Pros: The hotel room was very pleasant - clean, quiet and comfortable with a good view out to the golf course (with deer grazing on the hill). The hotel receptionist and restaurant staff were very good and friendly. Very nice lounge area - to lounge in.
Cons: The restaurant food was poor and fairly expensive. Tough steak, and fries that were so over cooked they shattered when you put a fork in. For £7 you would expect a desert of some quality - it was very basic, meagre portion of ice cream, lukewarm sticky toffee pudding.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet room, very comfortable bed. Delicious complimentary cookies. Bar and restaurant with additional chill out areas. Great outdoor space. Spa with nice views over the golf course.
Cons: We were heading towards Bowood house and asked reception for directions. On arrival we found out the house and gardens open at 11am. Would have been helpful from reception to point this out so we don't have to wait around.

Overview Reviews
When you stay at The Foxham Inn in Chippenham, you'll be 14 minutes by car from M4 Karting. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was good for us, as we were en route to Wales and it was right in the middle of the country but quite close to the M4. It was a very small country pub right up the lanes in a quiet spot, with tables outside if the weather was good. You could have a drink in the bar, and at 7.00pm you could have a very nice meal, if you so desired, which we did ! The lady owner was superb and very friendly and helpful, and the bedroom was medium size, lovely shower, comfortable bed, and attractive. The breakfast was cooked by her husband (Chef) next morning and extremely good in the dining room. They only have two bedrooms to let, and so the attention is marvellous.
Cons: Nothing - all very nice and good !

Cons: Wasn’t anything.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very, very friendly owners of the hotel ! It was a pleasure to discuss with them. Also, although I arrived late they managed to make me dinner ! The food is fresh and very, very good !

Pros: We loved everything about our stay! From the moment we arrived, Sarah could not have been more friendly and accommodating, even letting us check-in early. Our room was spotlessly clean and larger than we expected, as was the bathroom . No wonder Neil has featured in so many publications/guides, his food is absolutely delicious/of the highest quality and presentation. Romantic and tranquil setting, perfect in every way. We cannot wait to return again soon.
Cons: That we were only staying one night :(

Pros: Sarah's excellent hospitality was matched by Neil's excellent culinary skills. The Foxham is a welcoming bed and breakfast with comfortable rooms and a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble and your preferences are remembered. If you can't stay there, at least go in for a meal and some of their delicious home made ice cream - Yum !
Cons: There wasn't anything we didn't like, and we would stay again if work took me to Chippenham in the future.

The service at the castle inn was slower then expected on receiving the food for dinner, however the food was lovely and the staff were very accommodating. There was a fault with the fire alarm which caused us to wake up suddenly at 8.30am on a Sunday however this was resolved within an hour.

Great to see the DEFRA organic mark for local produce. Busy life but host Jo was always available, and helped to make a hectic 24hrs of 3 meetings manageable. Will be back!
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely location
Cons: Having to walk through rooms to get to the toilet. Squeaky floorboards.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We've really enjoyed our stay at the Stable Cottage at Battens Farm. It was a little bit tricky to find but it's worth searching for. The rooms are spacy and well equipped. The area is quiet, there's enough parking and you can see the horses from the rooms. We only stayed for one night but there's everything you need for a longer stay. Breakfast was a mix of selfmade (coffee, toast, and cereals) and prepared (you can choose from a wide variety). The kitchen is equipped with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine - everything you might need for a longer stay.
Cons: We didn't really know how or where to check in, as we didn't find a sign or doorbell. Luckily another guest told us where we had to go.
7.9 Good
Pros: The cottage was a lovely place in the country. You definitely need a car and good maps app. The owners were lovely and breakfast really nice.
Cons: The wifi only worked 10% of the time and was really slow when it did work. Not recommended for people who rely on it for researching the area or staying in touch.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A lovely cosy cottage on a picturesque farm - perfect for Mum and I to stay at whilst visiting family nearby. We were offered a cooked breakfast but didn't need it thanks to the supply of fresh fruit, cereal, bread, milk, juice and yoghurt that were all provided for us in the cottage kitchen. I would always chose somewhere like this over a bland hotel - great value for money!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the comfy old farm house location and accommodation.Lovely hosts happy to help us with anything extra.

Cons: This is a pub/restaurant with some rooms for rent. As previously stated the restaurant was outstanding however the accommodations did not meet the same standard. Our room was quite dated and needed refurbishing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely surroundings great staff and friendly. We even made friends with the piggies
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was just wonderful! Well cooked and served and delicious! So was dinner the night before...yum!!!! It was evident that much attention has been paid to creating an attractive atmosphere, including the three geese munching from the grass a little ways outside our window!
Cons: The lighting in the room could be improved. There was no light over the second bed, and the lights over the large bed were barely bright enough to read by. Although there was a very nice makeup mirror on the desk, there was no light there either, so it was not possible to use the space. A night light in the bathroom would be a good safety feature. One more thing...a small night table by the small bed would be a helpful addition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast, so accommodating to let us check in early.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was cosy with a lovely comfy bed and tv. The bar was very cosy too.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very accommodating...the same person waited on our group for dinner and for breakfast. She couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. We loved the room...the inn is off of the beaten path just a bit, but that added to the charm of the place.
Cons: I'm not sure that there could have been any improvements. We found the pub and room charming and comfortable.
7.5 Good
Pros: Did not have brekky, pub way too expensive

Pros: Lovely little Inn. Went for a weekend away by myself and loved it. I was made to feel very welcome, the room was lovely and location was charming. I would go back without a doubt. If you're looking for a quintessential English getaway you cant go wrong with this.
Cons: Only downside was the struggle to find parking. Had to park quite far up the hill out of the village
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the young man that introduced us to the property. Very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect and the food was amazing.
Cons: Nothing to report.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing room. Fabulous accommodation in every way. I highly recommend The Castle Inn
9.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was good we ordered slightly different combinations to which was obliged (put beans on the menu they do have them and sauces on the table or nearby self serve? prior to food being served), our room was lovely and clean, loved the do not disturb teddy bears and the location of the hotel was perfect,
Cons: maybe just a little bit more interaction with the bar staff at busy times..we asked for water twice to come with our evening meal it was busy and appreciate there were only 2 people serving, our water came out as we were finishing our meal we didn't make a fuss though and would definately stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall an excellent Inn. The staff, food, accommodation was of the highest order.
Cons: This questionnaire. I do not have a partner I have a wife!! Call me old fashioned but can we keep a little traditional terminology! The only ‘partner’ I have is in business!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Castle combe is a beautiful little town. It was great to stay in such an old house. I had the room with the four poster bed, the bed was very comfortable. It was very quiet at night. A secure car park is nearby in the grounds of the Manor House Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the Castle Inn was very good. For dinner I can strongly recommend The Bybrook, the restaurant at Manor House Hotel. Expensive but very good food.
Cons: The drain of the bathtub was completely blocked with hair, so the water did not drain so well.

Pros: Beautiful location, lovely comfortable room, friendly staff

Cons: A bit tired - could do with new carpets etc but realise would be enormous investment and probably better to continue as charming country place than becoming a bit more boutique!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant wasn’t lacking in any atmosphere at all . Not their fault as there was a fire which spoilt it from how it used to be
Cons: The restaurant was devoid of atmosphere
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location and ambience
Cons: No direct parking but it wasn’t too Much of s problem this time
5.8 Okay
Pros: We have stayed several times over the past 30 years. When we first stayed at the Angel we were swept off our feet with the food and wonderful mixed wild berries at breakfast. One of the greatest pleasures were the home baked bread rolls that used to be served at dinner. Instead the little rolls that were served last night were tainted with flavours. This visit had us staying in room 5 and the basin in the bathroom was quite off putting, looked as though someone had vomited in it. It was a natural stone but not attractive.
Cons: As above re wash basin
7.5 Good
Pros: Location, the building is so old but very beautifully restored without ruining the original features
Cons: There is no proper bar and no direct parking on the property
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The holding and bedrooms and a lot of character but the facilities were modern and the bed comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and atmosphere relaxing. Breakfast was also good.

Pros: The location fitted in well with our itinerary. This is a popular local pub and as such the noise during the evening was a little intrusive. We did anticipate this though. Dinner and breakfast were good and our stay was generally pleasant. The locals were happy to engage and have a chat.
Cons: Nothing specific not to like.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was spacious with amenities you'd expect, dinner was good and breakfast was excellent. Off road parking. Location ideal for our needs

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Neeld Arms was in a quaint village which just added to the fun of being in England. Charlie, the proprietor, was most friend and helpful. . The cooked breakfasts were very tasty and we enjoyed our meals in the evenings there as well.
6.7 Good
Pros: The shower was really nice. There was a smart TV which included Netflix and YouTube.
Cons: Creeky floors. Thin windows so you could hear everyone outside talking while you're asleep. Plus you could hear other people from other rooms brushing their teeth and spitting in their sink in the morning while you're asleep. Having to walk downstairs to get some milk for coffee. The mugs and cereal bowls were dirty. The neighbour at the back of the hotel was rude and not friendly (not the hotel's fault but I'm just saying).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for Bath and Cotswolds Area. Great atmosphere , Good food and good value

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warm friendly accommodating welcome from Sue was exceptional. The House is set on a large plot with ample parking for residents. We were lead to our room by Sue & the outlay of the house was explained in detail. We were given a choice of breakfast & expected time (which was very flexible) required, this I must say helped with having a mixed group of family members from a 6wk old baby to my Mum at the youthful age of 73 & coping with Cancer. Our breakfast was beautiful, fresh & hot! Not like you get at chain restaurants. Although we didnt have much spare time, when asked Sue was more than happy to share places of interest within this area! One I'd highly recommend is the small village of Castle Combe; a step back in time to a quaint cottage village which has an impressive church & history!
Cons: Nothing

Cons: bed mattress

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good. Hosts were friendly. Also, very quiet so good night's sleep.
Cons: If coming from A4, take Mill Lane, Road Hill and then go via Colerne RFC. Don't go up steep, narrow more direct 'valley' road that my sat nav directed me up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: all was perfect
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean airy room in an attractive house, in a quiet location a convenient driving distance from Bath and other attractions.

Pros: Fish and chips were excellent,I enjoyed it both nights - very crisp and light batter and the chips were the best we’ve had for a long time - stayed crisp and hot even though we spent a lot of time talking. The bedroom was clean and the bed was very comfortable; staff friendly and Eileen was very knowledgeable about the history of the village - she was a delight and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The curtains in room 5 were stained in places & the duvet cover needs the seams sewing up in places. The wardrobe door squeaks horribly! The wash basin in the en suite is rather small & it is difficult not to splash water on the floor - but not something you can change now!
7.9 Good
Pros: The full English breakfast was excellent.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast - great location.
Cons: Lovely building and bar but our room showed signs of some wear and tear but everything we needed was supplied and room was clean and warm.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a lovely one night stay for a trip into Bath. Room was lovely and spacious and staff were excellent!
Cons: Decor is a little tired.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful village with the pub in perfect location with plenty of parking. Friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Breakfast very nice, plenty of coffee served at the table with a view to the village.
Cons: Due to listed building the windows did rattle over night, but could be fixed with cardboard wedges! Did keep me awake but my husband slept through it!
6.7 Good
Pros: Overall, great location, comfy bed and friendly breakfast staff. Other than that, avoid!
Cons: We arrived at the Red Lion on bank holiday Sunday about 2.30pm. We appreciated it was busy but we were unsure where to park as we’d been given a car park code. I asked one of the members of staff who told me I wasn’t allowed to check in until 3. I of course appreciated this, as it stated in the booking but I said I just wanted to know where to park, they said again, rudely, that we couldn’t check in until 3. We checked in about 4pm and were shown to our room. The bed was clean and comfy but the bathroom was mouldy. The location could not be faulted. As were we’re exploring we saw a sign notifying of a road closure through the Main Street the following day from 7am, meaning we could not have left Lacock until 6pm the following day. No one in the hotel notified us of this. By this point we had already had a couple of glasses of wine so could not move the car. We unfortunately had to set our alarms for 6.30am the following morning to move the car. We were told breakfast was half hour earlier than when it actually started, so again we were waiting around. The Breakfast waitress was extremely friendly, I could not fault her. She apologised we had been told the wrong time and also double checked we had moved our car for the event-she really is an asset to the team! The overall cleanliness could be improved upon-the blue cloths stank and lingered whilst we were eating our breakfast, which wasn’t appreciating either.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: As advertised and expected. Lovely location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and attentive. Delicious meals.
Cons: My room was right over the deep fat fryer in the kitchen. It smelled of hot cooking oil!
