Beautiful View of the Lower City and West
LIkes: Fabulous view of the City over the Walls Overall feel of the hotel Comfort of the pillows and bed Best location for staying in the Old City Terrific breakfast Complimentary castle tickets
Dislikes Car has to be at least 200+ yards from the hotel--no private auto access--they use a small van to take you to the hotel. The room we were in was quite small--the closet door backed up to another needed door--constant banging. Chair for the desk had arms--could not go under the desk--another small room issue Partial glass separator for shower in the bath does a lousy job of keeping water in the tub Needs more electrical outlets--especially around the desk area

solicitous staff .... every detail considered, every comfort covered. grand hotel in the early 20th century tradition, elegant restaurant w/ elaborate service, though a bistro also available on the premises. Reflects & enhances the atmosphere of Carcassonne. None of this comes cheap, of course. Only comparable hotel we've stayed at is the Spanish parador in Santiago de Compestila.
Most parking is between the walls of the Cite, a brisk hike to the hotel. The hotel provides a livery car & driver to get you to & from the parking area.

We were so welcomed & so well received that we immediately felt at home - it was a magical stay & we enjoyed every aspect of the Hotel & it's magnificent integral part of romantic Carcassonne.
We could not fault anything - except perhaps the fact that massages were not available on Sun & Mon just over our stay.

Hotel de la Cite is beautiful and the city itsfelf is breathtaking. Only one complaint - no a la carte breakfast and the standard breakfast for one person is 29 e or about $40! Only want a croissant and a cup of coffee? Still $40! An equivalent breakfast can be had in local cafe for one third of this price. So stay at the hotel de la Cite - just don't eat there.

Perfect location. Hotel staff pick you up from designated car park outside city wall. Well appointed hotel with restaurant and swimming pool and garden. Courteous and helpful staff.
Even acknowledging the quality of the hotel and its locaition I still consider it very expensive. Also, and this is hardly the hotel's fault, the exclusive promise of the hotel is somewhat marred by the sheer crowds of people visiting Carcassonne.
