Carcassonne Hotels

1.The bed. I've stayed here twice, and the beds are very comfortable, better than most hotels. 2. There's a kettle in the room so an evening hot drink possible. 3. The price - staying in November I paid less than €70 for dinner bed and breakfast. 4. The location just off the main road - easy to find and very useful for a break en route.

It is very much in need of redecoration. The bedroom I slept in the second time had a very noisy machine of some sort just outside (Room 14 - avoid if you can). The rooms are small - as a sole traveller for one night not a problem, but I was in a room meant for up to 3. The bedroom doors are very heavy and difficult to open. The lighting in the rooms is average hotel , which means it's not really adequate, but manageable.

Shower has mold and very old. Cracks on walls and ceiling...

Location in the centre of town is convenient for a lot of things and the staff were pleasant and helpful

Breakfast should be included in the tariff- it was the last time we stayed at the hoteland also to charge for car parking was not acceptable when there was no charge previously

The location of the hotel, being inside the Cité walls, is excellent, though somewhat difficult to find!

We were given rooms in building away from the main building. We were not advised of this before our arrival, and were somewhat disappointed. The huge beam going across the floor in room 16 made visits to the toilet resemble an obstacle course!!!

My husband and I found the stay at the Best Western Le Donjon to be a very acceptable experience.

The log fire in the bar. Breakfast buffet. Shower was really good.

Excellent location for the citadel. We were upgraded and our room was truly magnificent. The service throughout was very good.

solicitous staff .... every detail considered, every comfort covered. grand hotel in the early 20th century tradition, elegant restaurant w/ elaborate service, though a bistro also available on the premises. Reflects & enhances the atmosphere of Carcassonne. None of this comes cheap, of course. Only comparable hotel we've stayed at is the Spanish parador in Santiago de Compestila.

Most parking is between the walls of the Cite, a brisk hike to the hotel. The hotel provides a livery car & driver to get you to & from the parking area.

We were so welcomed & so well received that we immediately felt at home - it was a magical stay & we enjoyed every aspect of the Hotel & it's magnificent integral part of romantic Carcassonne.

We could not fault anything - except perhaps the fact that massages were not available on Sun & Mon just over our stay.

I screwed up my booking for this hotel and they kindly changed it to the right date without charging a few. They were very helpful about the sightseeing and we could leave our car while we went to see Carcassone - only .5km walk away

the room was quite small - just enough for two single beds. But it worked.

Easy walk into town. Small shops close by. Near to several nice restaurants. Quiet Hotel.

Objects missing from the room such as coffee maker, cups, spoons. Although this was quickly rectified by the receptionist. The shower leaked and the toilet seat was extremely loose and wobbly. No balcony.

Excellent, practical location with secure parking on the edge of the city, good value

Hotel was located outside the medieval walls, about a 5 minute walk to the main gate. Having a baby and luggage to stroll with, it was the better place to stay than in the medieval walls because of the cobble stoned roads. Rooms were clean and it had a good shower. Room was a bit on the small side though, since we had to use a baby cot. Nice hotel overall.

It was convenient to the Cite and easy walking distance to the town. Nice atmosphere and clean. Breakfast was very acceptable.

the hotel was quiet and the room was clean and well laid out for a compact size.Staff were helpful.The hotel is well positioned for access and egress for the city.

Road access signage was poor on the direction we approached form but much clearer from other directions.

The room was nice, as was the staff. The bed was very comfortable. It was within walking distance of the walled city of Carcassonne.

The air conditioning did not cool the room off (the thermostat was set too high, and there was no individual control in the room). Even with the window open at night, the room was hot and stuffy. The immediate area surrounding the hotel was commercial.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Easy parking, free wi-fi and tea making facilities. New hotel, so everything was in good working order

The staff and the evening meal were excellent. Breakfast a bit disappointing compared with our experience at other campaniles in past.

Trivial , but the plug was missing from the shower room sink!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff and a funky retro look to the rooms.

Location is a bit non-descript. It sits on a main road far from the Cite and about five long blocks from the main square in Carcassonne. Better for drivers than for people traveling by train.

The best thing is location to the railway station and access to airport shuttle bus.

Its location was excellent - very convenient for the city centre, the railway station and the bus to/from the airport.

Great location and facilities - beautiful surroundings - hotel and rooms nice but getting a bit tired.

Very poor value for money - bit snooty service and extortionate charges at times (€20 for a kir royal on the terrace, €150 for room service for my boys to get chicken and chips, a salad and a dessert each !!)

The owners of this small hotel are fabulous nothing is too much trouble.Wonderful place to base yourselves in this region, but need a car to get around as limited tours after summer.

When I asked the owner to book a taxi to Le Cite he drove us there himself. Very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful time at Demeure St. Louis. Barnard, the owner is really special and did everything he could to make our visit enjoyable. The room was one of the nicest we had on our three week trip around France.

It is a high quality establishment with all equipment and services, new and in perfect condition. The host gave very personalised assistance and we appreciated his advice and attention. This was the best accommodation, of 8, we had in our trip to France.

We went to see the Medieval Cite the hotel is very close and views superb.

There was nothing we could fault we felt it was basic but very good.

Very good value for money - large room with a table and chairs in it which was useful. 5 minutes walk away from train station, a G20 supermarket and plenty of restaurants.

Hotel was new! Everything shiny and clean! Hotel staff very helpfull and friendly, some even spoke English! Good buffet breakfast. Quiet and good heating.

Very difficult to locate! The internet map was inaccurate! The matress was very hard, like a slab of rubber! The room layout was like an up-market formula 1! Watchout for the bunk bed - easy to hit ones head! OK for a few nights!

Excellent staff, even though they didn't speak much English and we don't speak much French nothing was too much trouble for them, rooms clean even if a bit on the small side.
