This motel has a good location; comfortable rooms and a very good price / quality ratio. The included breakfast is small but good
Very good price / quality ratio.
Very cosy hotel in the most convenient location. I would definitely stay here again. No bad points.
The price and location were fabulous
The general location of the hotel was good. The breakfast that came included with the room was good too. They could have changed the main dish which was made from eggs and spinach. Exactly the same thing was served all of the three mornings we stayed there. The dust ruffle on the bed was very dirty or stained. The bathroom was in need of a lot of work and details. The bathtub was two different colors and when you got into it the plastic tub cover had a lot of water trapped under it which was terrible. The walls behind and around the toilet were badly stained and unfinished. Rooms were not very soundproofed. Try oiling the hinges on all of the doors in the complex which you could easily hear from the other units. Someone should walk the individual units to look at what has not been attended to for some time.
Good location. grossly overpriced motel.
The watermelon at brunch was good Paid LOTS of money for a room with a king size bed. This place is NOISY. The sound of people flushing their toilets or running their showers is incredible. The banged up used furniture in our room needs replacing. Knobs were missing from the end tables and chest. The upholstery on the two chairs were pathetic. We parked on the street because this hotel does not have enough parking spaces to accommodate guests. WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.
Walking distance to what we wanted to see or where we wanted to go.
Breakfast, Parking. We checked in around 9PM, they gave us a isolated room by itself, facing the street, and sidewalk is right in front of room door. The bath room is under remodeling and not finished yet. Two girls stayed in the strange city feeling very uncomfortable. We locked the door and closed curtain whole evening, didn't want to go walk around at all. The front counter told us because it is late check-in, they gave all rooms to other customers. I stayed in Carmel village Inn 4 times in past 10 years. Each time I felt great. But, this night stay really made me scared and very fed up. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone anymore.
Located right as you get downtown, it is walking distance to everything. This makes finding parking a nonissue. Yay. The breakfasts were homemade and nice. Quiche, fresh fruit slices, muffins in addition to the usual fare. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The furniture was scuffed and worn which made a poor first impression.
The location is perfect! The filth and beat up furniture...scummy place!
The location was the only good thing. Poor management clearly doesn't cater to its guests. Unwilling to rectify inconsistencies in billing between myself and our friends (we were charged $110 more for our stay). The management blamed booking.com for the problem and would not discuss it.
Secluded. Breakfast in a basket at your doorstep. Bathroom separated from the sink.
Nice to have some outdoor space, and the location was very convenient. Reviews promised a hot tub so we were disappointed that there wasn't one. Breakfast was nothing special - sugary muffins and sugary yogurt, we had to go out to get a real breakfast.
Accessibility to Carmel beach and shopping. The rooms definitely need updating and the staff need more training in handing guest services.
The hotel was close enough to drive into the main shopping area, clean rooms and reasonably maintained. streets in this specific neighborhood are not good for walking.
Nothing Area was dark, stand alone room was probably an old shed, floor was creaky, bathroom door not to code, half the size it should be, toilet plugged up, bed was so uncomfortable, spiders in the bathroom. We were so tired and had no other choice, so paying $112 for this was very unsettling. We will never go back, please remove any stars you have on this property.
We stayed in one of the rooms not one of the cottages so it was tiny but perfect for the two of us. Very cozy. It felt like we were staying in a hobbit hole. We loved loved loved it!
Clean comfortable suite. Nice view toward Point Lobos. Breakfast adequate. Would have been nice to have pool open during fall heatwave.
Close to downtown. On the website it said they have a pool. When we got there they said the pool was closed for the winter even though it was 80° out. They should update their website to reflect this. There were only four cars in the parking lot but they put someone in the room right next to us And they decided to wake up at 5 AM and start talking very loudly. It's only for family staying there they should've split us up to give us some privacy and quiet. Remote for the TV did not work as well.
Cozy room. Basic amenities. Quiet. Staff helpful. Close to harbor. Bed sank in the middle.
The staff was friendly. Hotel is close to many places.
Wonderful person at front desk. Astute which is rare. Hot tub clean and exercise room great. Quiet. Redid hotel and put in double pane windows and soundproofing. Very close to MRY (Monterey Community Airport) Need the exercise room which is tiny. If there were a lot of guests, it would not be possible to use. One place open for breakfast at 6 am. Not on property and not particularly healthy food.
Service was great. Bed made every day, coffee generously replenished each day. Courteous front office staff tutorial on local haunts and some handy discount cards! Will always stay at the Lone Oak when in Monterey. A little far to walk to any major sites, but parking is easy in Monterey so it was not a hassle at all.
clean and comfortable Small shower. Noisy family outside in early morning but that's not the hotels fault
Best stay for the price in the area, perfect location
The woman at the front desk was so nice, she gave some recommendations for restaurants and some appatizer vouchers. The place was very clean and well taken care of. Will for sure return!
High quality stay for high value. Staff was extremely helpful and cooperative.
Room was clean and decorated very nicely. No AC in the rooms and the ceiling fan would only go up to the lowest setting. The in room fridge was very noisy but otherwise no complaints about the room.
The hotel was not clean. The room had no air conditioning so it was musty and muggy, which made it hard to sleep. The location of the hotel was sketchy. The pool/hot tub area could really use some work. It was pretty gross. Also, the towels were the size of a small hand towel and were as rough as sand paper. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
very quiet place mattress too soft
Great stay all in all. Unfortunately , noisy foot traffic outside my door.
Staff was awesome, helpful and attentive. Close enough to enjoy walks and wharf Staff tried diligently to make amends for noise and interuptions by other guests, but it was too late, damage done OMG, warming up LOUD work trucks @ 5am.....only to be turned off and restarted 15 minutes later. It's 55 degrees, what needs warming up for so irresponsibly LONG? Stayed on ground floor by request, we have a toddler! Only to have Paul Bunyan checked in upstairs from us, with constant pacing from 8p-11p. Real smart front desk work?! Large window to front of our room had broken glass, ripped molding and looked as though somebody wanted in, other than door. a bit scary
Very convenient for getting to downtown Monterey or Carmel. Spacious bathroom and great value for the money.
parking and buildings were crowded on the site.
Breakfast was great and the room was very clean and newly renovated Nothing really the breakfast area was slightly small but this was a minor annoyance
Worst place to stay! Very unsafe, and the people working there would not answer the phone.
Location Multi use soap pumps....ewww glad I travel with my own soaps Dirty floor and bath Lazy staff, waited 5 min for them to acknowledge I was there to check in only to be told please wait. Won't be a second visit.
Clean, comfortable, affordable Noisy, location
The room was nice and clean. There was a night club next to the hotel that played music until 2am which made it very difficult to sleep comfortably. This happened both days I stayed there Wednesday and Thursday. Called the front desk regarding this only for the agent to act like they had no idea what to do but said they would get back to me and never did. The heated pool was not heated but cold. The breakfast area was small and crowded with guest and it made it uncomfortable.
Beds and pillows were great . Tv was cool with lots of channels and bathroom was very clean . nice big room. Very clean and quiet . Pool wasn't very heated and it was semi indoor it had an outdoor patio with and opening to the pool . We tried to swim at night but it was too cold.
Very nice motel. Not enough breakfast food to go around. No DVD there. That alone will keep us from coming here again.
This hotel has everything coffee pot, microwave, fridge, blow dryer, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, Wi-Fi, cable ac/haeater, indoor pool, ice machine, and free breakfast. The parking lot got full quick. No parking in front of our room.
Price. Room was recently updated. Grounds were dirty. Rude staff. Only hot breakfast option was waffles.
Very clean and safe was in splendid location and was very sffordable
People next to us partied all night with loud music and dozens of people in their room. We complained and nothing happened . Was not worth the money we did not sleep at all and the tv was broken.
Room was spacious. It's next to the beach. Breakfast was average Checking in the gentleman at the counter was very rude. Had his head phones in and basically just asked for name and gave us our key. Didn't give us any information. The room also smelled like animals had been in there.
Closeness to Cannery Row, sightseeing, wharf. Really worth the money. The beds are very comfortable and we felt safe. Walls needed to be touched up, under sink. Small things. Overall, very happy with this hotel.
Private parking was really convenient The hot tub closes too early, Usually couples like to use it after dinner to relax and unwind
from the outside, it looks like a motel. But the rooms are very good quality "Hotel style".
Very friendly and helpful staff. Short walk to the downtown area. Right across from a beautiful pond. the attached restaurant was great. we stayed on the top floor and the outside hallway was just bare wood. looked terrible but could not tell if it was under construction as it didn't look like anyone was working on it.
convenience to wharf, highway 1, room cleanliness location is on the corner of two busy streets....noisy area
The Room was clean and the heater worked well... It was a cold night for Monterery... 11/2010
Hotel facilities are excellent and we had a pleasant reasonable-sized room. The location is also quite good - only a short drive to Fisherman's Wharf and the rest of the very attractive town of Monterey.
Clean, cheap and efficient None. Was v. Happy for the price
It was so cozy and felt homey. I did not want to leave. Very clean and just overall an awesome stay That i did not stay longer
good location. The rooms were small , smelled like cigerette smoke in a non-smoking room(they would not give us another room) -my girlfiend is allergic ! not good. The view outside our window was a bunch of construction supplies thrown behing our building. The shower never got hot. I was trying to do something special for my soon to be wife. She was mad/unhappy our entire trip. -unsatisfactory!!!
Well worth the money, and what a fabulous rate they have for bring practically beachfront! Very accommodating and helpful. Great breakfast too!! That we only stayed for one night! Can't wait to go back and stay longer.
Great place. Awesome rooms.
Clean room. Breakfast as described and plentiful. Good location. Pool and hot tub were not very clean
Location, convenience, privacy in cottage everything was good
We had a wonderful time! Very close to the beach and Monterey! Pacific grove is such a beautiful area They charged me a different rate for the second night. When I booked on booking.com it get me a flat rate
Rooms were very clean and very nice. Would definitely recommend.
Very large bathroom and decent sized room. Pool was not heated.
It was close within driving distance to both Cannery Row and Fishermans wharf as well as Pacific Grove and Carmel. It was also close to Pt Lobos reserve. You could attend casual dining or dress up fancy dining. The manager was quite friendly, and the Motel was quite clean. It would be nice of the pool was heated instead of seasonal.
I really liked the location. We like to walk, so we were able to do a lot without having to drive. Convenient for the price. The room was not really clean, and the door looked like someone had tried to kick it in at some point, frame was warped. Very small room. Would have not wanted to stay here if our kids were with us.
Close to the shopping center. Easy parking. Free wireless internet connection. Small breakfast included. Brekfast a bit small, just cofee and muffins.
Rooms were clean, great bathrooms, excellent location, wonderful experience.
Location is great. Friendly staff for the most part. The safe was handy. Free parking. Nice to have fridge and microwave and good selection of channels and nice TV. Bed sheets were paper thin. Beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom didn't smell fresh. Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about- all cheap GMO food. All in all, way overpriced for having to pay $274 per night. It was a holiday weekend so they probably raised rates but I didn't see the value.
Hotel was clean, close to attractions, and well priced. Bed was pretty comfy. The area is definitely on the nicer side but I was concerned about the openness of the parking lot during the night. No issues, just concerns.
Building architecture Room cleanliness, size, quality of material. sheets, etc. The heater blows right on the bes and makes sleelinping very uncomfortable when turned on.
We had a nice large room with a fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Nicely decorated. Very clean. Parking right out front. Comfortable bed. Everything we needed was already in our room.
Family rooms are right between staircases that are outside looking into your room. Very loud from other rooms. Seemed old and poorly insulated. Outdoor lighting shined in Windows. Definitely felt dirty in rooms, beds very uncomfortable. Have to be honest because I read people's reviews that liked it and that's why we took family there. Poor decision! Will not recommend or return...
Location was fine. Spacious room. Bed was comfortable. Gas fireplace warmed the room. Crowded breakfast room. Furnishings were tired. Some voices from neighboring room through the wall. Bathroom sink drained slowly and needed to be cleaned.
Nice room, close to everything None
Location is convenient close to frreeway access, fisherman wharf, and shopping malls. Check in was done rather quickly. When we needed assistant, Inn staff was quickly to respond. Our bathroom door was not able to close, lock was not usable, and the heater/cooler was not working. There was a video tape player but was not working. No dvd player to use.
Staff members were very warm and welcoming and the free breakfast was better than similarly-priced hotels, offering cereal, mini muffins, fruit coffee and even (really good) do-it-yourself waffles. Our room came standard with an extremely large king-sized bed. An added bonus was the mini fridge - great for keeping our camping groceries cold as we traveled through California. Only real downside was that while taking a shower, I noticed that there were stray hairs on one of the walls - remnants from the previous guest(s). Not a huge deal to us as the rest of the room was spotless and we were staying less than 24h, but a bit off-putting nonetheless.
I liked the price. Location not bad. Breakfast was hour later than stated at check in. Nothing made this place stick out. It's just a place to sleep. Will stay elsewhere next time.
Great location, decent hotel for the price The floors didn't seem like they were vacummed.
Nothing Everything, rude rude rude manager and very dirty and daited, maids were super loud , never stay there again. Worst place we've ever stayed at. I can't believe there are decent reviews of this dump!!!!!!
The man that checked us in was very helpful. He let us know about the special package they offered for the Aquarium. Another worker told my boyfriend to put out his cigatette when he was outside. We wete aware that all of the rooms were non-smoking but didn't understand why he coyldn't smoke outside.
I really liked that their was breakfast in the morning. That the room was clean and that the pool was near the room. I really enjoyed all the plants outside and the balcony. I did not like that when we got their late they were very few options on where to dine and that our heater wasn't working.
Did not feel safe there. The bed spread and drapes were dirty, no place to plug in coffe maker, lamp was broken and other lamps had missing light bulbs. Bathroom had malfunctioning shower head and tub mat not clean. Continental breakfast was not very healthy.
Easy check in & nice staff. Nothing fancy. Bed was comfortable & room was clean but no air conditioner just a fan which was ok since it wasn't too warm. The breakfast area is in the lobby and was so crowded with no place to sit. Had to dodge many people just to get a bowl of cereal!!
Clean, sizable. Good location for quick access to downtown Monterey, Carmel-by-the-sea, Big Sur, etc. The internet was surprisingly fast, and free! The microwave and fridge were also quite convenient. Noise was the biggest issue: the ceilings creaked a lot every time the people above us moved around. It felt like we could hear everything they were doing. If you're thinking about staying here, definitely try and get a 2nd-floor room. Since our room was very near a busy street, we also heard a lot of noise from traffic and passing cars.
Our hotel room was very clean and neat, late arrival was not a problem, and it is partially renovated. We skipped the breakfast though, so I don't know about that. The town center is a 5 minute drive, or a nice walk from the hotel. Overall, great value for money. I would be happy to stay here again.
Quiet rooms, curtains kept room dark when sleeping, all rooms ground floor. The fragrance of the room cleaner was very strong - we had to air out the rooms.
The first room had a strong smell but we were given another room which was fine. The location is convenient with a shopping mall nearby & easy access to local sights, etc. The staff were very honest and helpful when I had an issue with a credit card. Breakfast area was cramped & the choice is limited, but this is not unusual.
The hotel room was clean and comfortable. Easy to find and easy access to the highway and downtown Monterey. Parking was a little tight, but manageable.
I was there for a conference, so I didn't use the facilities much. I enjoyed the room very much. It was nice, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was also attentive, courteous, and very professional
Clean, comfortable rooms, great prices. Leak in the shower caused water to flow into the rest of the bathroom after a few minutes.
the cleanliness and coverall comfort. location the tv did not work, and the tub/shower is slippery.
easy to find. Reasonable breakfast.
Good bed; price; location Ice machine not working
Location was great. On the main street leading to the tourist areas. The breakfast and eating area was messy, unclean, and unattended. We went somewhere else for breakfast.
Excellent Location for shopping, downtown & aquairum. Clean and quite. I was late for my arrival and unsure of process for checking in. No signs to clearly direct me to the check-in window.
My husband and i always stay here when we are in the Monterey area. Rooms are clean and the beds are pretty comfortable. Great location, close to an outlet mall with shopping and restaurants. And not a far drive from the warf. They have cleaned up the place since our first stay.
Room that has everything I expect from a hotel including refrigerator, A/C and microwave. Bath was shower only but was fine for what was needed. Staff was curtious and handled our needs appropriately. Coffee/Tea was provided in the office in the morning. Room has had a lot of work done by someone that fancies themselves as a handyman. Walls had obvious patches, light fixtures/vents were not flush with the ceiling, wall texture flaking off. There also were a few ants in the bathroom.
N/A I am still surprised no one has called the health department yet and shut down this place. The towels were stained and gross, when I asked for new ones the front desk man/manager grabbed 3 other towels with his greasy hands and put them on the dirty counter, they were touching the floor and he gave them to me as cleaner ones...they also had stains. The shower curtain had mold..a lot of it, the floor had huge white stains and blankets holes from cigarettes. ..and the smell..oh boy!
They have fire places in some rooms. Found hair on the bed,& in the shower. The TV didn't work, nor did the alarm or one light. Main door did not properly close and light was coming in threw cracks.. very thin walls, could hear people in next room talking. The bed felt old and broken, the bed sheets were, well they were only top sheets. If you're so cheap you can't afford CAL KING bed sheets, maybe you shouldn't have a motel.....
We it the room with the jacuzzi tub and really enjoyed it. It was really elm antic and relaxing. Price was worth it. Excellent location for exploring Monterey. No complaints. The hotel is right on the street but if you are in one of the back row rooms I couldn't hear it.
Location and friendly staff. The breakfast.
Friendly employees Bed was comfy Room was clean Free wifi Location Stayed here a few times, decent for what you pay The smell in the office Thin walls Cold at nights because the door doesn't seal, fixed by turning on the fireplace
Price friendly staff and clean rooms Old TV, loud, bath products
I got two queen beds for a pretty cheap price. Located across from a shopping center with restaurants and Whole Foods market. I was able to book same day on Kayak. Parking was free and right in front of the room. micro and a/c did not work in room #8. (Plug wasn't working) Floor leaked near refrigerator. Easy to hear everyone else walking up stairs and talking outside the window. Breakfast was basically muffins and cold cereal. No pool. You get 1 room key and have to turn it in at the end or be charged $20. Bathroom door did not lock.
The gentleman at the front the desk was nice. The motel is near a Whole Foods Market. The motel is also centrally located and is within a short drive to wharf and downtown. Everything is old. Walls were thin. Curtains had holes which allowed for outside light. Overall, this place was dingy and not worth what we paid.
Great location, able to book a room last minutes The facility is very old, and the walls are not sound proof at all. If you stay at a room near the stairs, you will hear cracking noise from the wood while people walking up and down. The heater was broken and the wifi is super slow. The beds are clean but the pillows are hard and flat. While the staff are generally very nice but they don't speak English very well, so it's not exactly easy to communicate.
I will NEVER stay here again. They advertise $135 for 3 days including 10% tax...HOWEVER they charge $189 for the stay because of the tiny print indicating there is a $15 Room Service Fee. The owner had the audacity to laugh at my shock/distress...I work very hard for what little $ I earn and I tightly budget my spending. Also it doesn't feel good to be duped in this manner...I later checked: most motels in Monterey charge a $1 or $5 room service fee.
It had a fireplace. Expensive! The toilet was not secured to the floor, nor was the seat to the toilet. Bed was very old and sagged quite badly on both sides. The whole place seemed quite run down.
Hotel great location Aesthetics could be better i.e. furniture, interior
