Wine and cheese between 5-7 pm and homemade hot breakfast. Small room, street noise
We were spending the week exploring Carmel and this was a very convenient and clean-looking hotel. We'd read some reviews about the missing cheese hour, etc. and scoffed at people being weird about their missing amenities; generally if a place is clean and pleasant, I don't think there is much else to comment on. But I have to say, it was a sore disappointment that we booked two King rooms for two couples (a deluxe and suite) and in the early, cold November morning, I reached for the bathrobe I'd read so much about (it was constantly in the advertising for the King suites that there are these great thick robes) and saw...there was none. In either King room. So I'm listing the amenities as OK because honestly, it was really chilly in our room and I think that when you book deluxe king suites, they should come with bathrobes if that is advertised everywhere and it's quite chilly. I got ready that morning in my husbands sweater and we left the next day.
We upgraded to a King suite, which was a clean room, though not particularly sizable. Staff was very nice and efficient. It was a quick walk into town, and the grounds of the hotel were lovely. There was also no refrigerator in our room, though we thought we saw one in another room. For our room being a suite and upgraded, the lack of the fridge was a little bizarre.
The service from Tom was the best I've ever experienced. He was extremely polite and very friendly. The property is beautiful and very quiet. A nice Romantic setting that is a short 15 min walk to all the shops. Gardens are beautiful and the firepit was a nice bonus. Wish they had more wines in our room to choose from.
Beautiful. Clean. Friendly staff! Will come again but ask for a room that isn't close to the road. Noise. You can't sleep with the window open due to to the cars on the road. No AC which wouldn't be a problem however noisey road had to close window.
Needed a room in Carmel. RIght on busy road. Tiny room. Crappy wifi.
We were a little skeptical, but were pleasantly surprised! The staff was great, the room was very nice, the fire pit was fun and the breakfast was above average. Nice extra buffet touches like quiche and croissant egg and sausage sandwiches. Yogurt was in nice glassware and fresh cut up seasonal fruit, versus just bananas and apples and oranges. Like I said, were pleasantly surprised and will be back!
Just stayed there this week and what a wonderful place to stay. Staff was friendly and the rooms where nice a clean. We took advantage of the complimentary wine and cheese at night. Perfect location near shopping areas and near beach. Will definitely stay there again.
ocean view and great breakfast and delicious cookies in the lobby
Free Cookies and FREE Water. ONe block to the beach was the BEST..and you could walk to town to shop...... You couldn't open the window without mosquitos (no screens) flying in......television too small......couldn't black out the room, as the pull down shades didn't shade the window at nite.......strange shower with a little hole you would get stuck in at the end by the shower head.......
Its greatest attraction is the immediate proximity to the ocean. it would have been nice to have a hot tub; continental breakfast was okay, but for over $300 a night, I just expected a little bit more --- maybe afternoon cookies or wine and cheese????
We liked the relaxed style of the hotel and as the weather was very good, being able to eat breakfast outside We felt that the bathrooms could do with upgrading
Clean, reasonably priced, nice staff, good location for beach I personally felt the room was for an older person (60+) because of the general decor. However this is a personal preference and not a complaint. The bed was still nice, White sheets etc
The location is great. The grounds are beautiful, very quiet, and there was ample parking. The bed linens are new and the beds are very comfortable. There is an inviting continental breakfast in the reception area. We booked a deluxe king ocean view. Upon arrival, we were given a tiny queen room in the back of the complex, with the explanation that the deluxe room overbooked online and we were then assigned this room. After many requests for something else, we were moved to an ocean view suite for our second night's stay. Though the room was bigger and had a magnificent view, both rooms are old and tattered. We felt like we were victims of the bait and switch, with the confirmation of one room and the switch to another. And the rate we paid for the small queen room was the same as our neighbor's large suite. Though we were given a reduced rate on the suite for the second night, and the manager was very helpful, she was not apologetic for what happened
Everything was very organised and done in the most friendly manner.
Quietness Bathrooms small
It's decor! So quaint. Gardens were great. Breakfast in the lobby is like eating in your own front room- great croissants by the way. Gas fire in the room for any chilly evening - and you can sleep with the window open - ne need for air con, best nights sleep whole vacation. Close to the beach and some great restaurants. Nope. Loved it will definitely go back.
nice scenic location, room beautifully furnished, good breakfast for american standards Expensive for the services offered, no desk or table at all, no shower caps shower device is fixed and not practical
I liked the location the best. The Superior King room was huge and very clean. The hotel was one block off of Ocean Ave. and all the shops Restaurants were all within walking distance even for me with a bad knee. Not the best hotel for handicap people lots of stairs no elevators
Loved location and spacious room with good view. Bathroom was nice with both great bath and shower.
Attention to detail in terms of furnishings and garden areas and the attentiveness of ALL the staff. The breakfast was exceptional as was the complimentary afternoon cheese and wine. A real delight!
Location was terrific with a great view from the room. Extremely comfortable bed. We really enjoyed the wine/cheese and the breakfast was excellent. Not really a complaint, but the bathroom area was fairly small but that was not unexpected and certainly not an issue.
The rooftop is amazing. We appreciated the complimentary drink during happy hour. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful. Location is nice because it's right across the street from the beach. Parking is limited. We stayed for 4 days and our sheets never got changed so they got pretty sandy. The hotel is located on a major road and so the traffic made things pretty noisy, especially since there is no air conditioning unit and we had the windows open.
The attention to detail in rooms and by staff if we had a request
This place is a true gem! The food and drinks at the rooftop bar were great and complimentary breakfast is like no other!
Free drink on rooftop bar during happy hour (5-7 p.m.) Free delicious plated breakfast including bacon, eggs, orange juice (much better than standard continental spread) Room was small, but very well-appointed and comfortable Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone We felt like we got very good value for the money The only thing that was less than ideal was the on-street parking, but that worked out fine for us.
Very nice staff. Rooftop bar is cool, especially in the evening. Interesting themed rooms - European feel to the place. The room felt a bit cramped. Limited parking and dangerous access to the main road.
Parking was limited
The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big enough. Had dinner on the rooftop. Great view of the ocean. Great complementary breakfast. It was delicious. Staff very nice and helpful. Would stay again for sure. Very close to Fishermen's Wharf. The only problem with the room was no window. There was a door to the outside but didn't feel good about leaving the door open all night. Got a little stuffy during the night. No AC. Very limited parking.
We loved this place. It was different but really fun. The decor was so cute and quirky and the staff was great. Loved the breakfast in the morning and the complementary happy hour drink on the rooftop lounge which overlooks the ocean. It was easily within walking distance of the wharf and the beach which was right across the street. The bathroom in our room was amazing! Great shower and jet tub with heated floors. We will be back for sure. The room was a little small but we didn't mind. The bed was too soft for my boyfriend and we will make adjustments for that next time. The only parking is on the street but we always found something close and we were able to leave our car their and walk most places so it wasn't that big of an issue.
The location was nice. Everything was very clean. There was no clearly marked parking. The room was super noisy, especially as they entertained guests at the rooftop bar, and as they cleaned up the bar after the end of the night. And as they started to serve breakfast. The room was old and rather amateurish, with mismatched paint, dented walls, a partially-functioning TV, and a jacked-up door handle. Also, the bed was super uncomfortable. It was like sleeping in a bounce house. For the price, I expected a much nicer facility.
The hotel is an extraordinarily charming and unique boutique hotel. While the rooms are not large, they are well appointed. The rooftop bar/restaurant offers expansive views of the Monterey Bay and is a must see. The gracious proprietor, Naz, makes you feel at home (her home).
In house restaurant has excellent cook who prepares meals individually and the bartender is also top notch. Great view of the city and beach is nice. The breakfast was exquisite, the staff and facility had a euro feeling but parking is non-existent and the boulevard just outside the door offers no spots, forcing one to search for spots in a possibly sketchy neighborhood. Tiny rooms but nice.
Great breakfast, excellent cookies and wine social hour, friendly and helpful staff, cozy rooms, convenient location.
Excellent location two blocks from beach, two blocks from restaurants. This is an old restored Victorian home and they have stuck to the theme throughout. Lots of flowered wallpaper and antique furniture. Beds are comfortable. TV. Nice gardens. Some of the staff were not as hospitable as I would expect in an inn.
The historic architecture and warm atmosphere Street had alot oof traffic noise
The outstanding event at Centrella Inn was the breakfast----a lot of choice and beautifully cooked and presented---probably the best we had in 6 weeks of travel. The Inn was charming and well situated. Evening drinks and nibbles provided was also a very welcome touch. We liked it all
The staff were friendly, the room was neat and clean. The location is ideal being next to the main street and close to the beach. The building has a sweetly quaint Victorian bed and breakfast feel to it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Big welcome from Honey, very homely with some excellent touches (glass of wine on arrival, home made cookies available during the day). Good breakfast with cooked options. Located in a wonderful town with excellent walking/cycling.
The location and the style of the Inn itself. I am a director of f&b ata 4diamond hotel in sf, and I am certainly picky about service and comfort. For an Inn, Cetrella was top! Nothing.
All of the staff are marvelous people and very helpful and kind. Wine and cheese in the evening was fun and relaxing. Bed was excellent. The room we stayed in was very small, but other rooms that we checked out were very nice sized.
Location is great, happy hour was very nice, room is very Carmel. People are very friendly. Room is small be manageable.
