Helpful and friendly staff. Easy parking Breakfast was barely edequate
excellent building / architecture, good staff, clean. large rooms. No Air-conditioning could easily be a big issue on hot days / evenings as the builidng is stone and seems to soak up the heat
Position of room on busy road and disco/bar next door. No air conditioning and unable to open windows
Excellent for our stopover close to Santander Car park difficult and limited
Being close enough to walk to the beach and being close to Santander. It was also in a quiet location and the staff were very polite. When we opened the window there was an unpleasant smell coming from outside. Although it was advertised as having satellite tv there were very few channels and none in English. The facilities in the room would not have been suitable for a longer term stay.
Size of room, cleanliness N/A
The size of the room and the quietness It was bliss!
It was a lovely new spanish style hotel just in the middle of the town and on a 10 minute walk to the port. The bar at the back of the hotel had no aphmosphere and wouldn,t encourage you to spend time there.
Hotel of character with pleasant and helpful staff. The room was large and comfortable. Small TV
Service was awesome. Location for our plans suited us perfectly. Food at breakfast and dinner was of very good quality and tasty.
Great romantic place to spend some days! Surrounding of Town Santillana was impressing. Also the included breakfast and the free bike rental was a gret service!
Location was just perfect, on a hillside overlooking the beautifully preserved Santillana del Mar, and just a few miles from the scenic coastline and a series of lovely beaches. Taking this into account and the height of the season, we considered the bed & breakfast rate to be fair value for money. Not wishing to venture out in the rain, we eat 'in' on our second evening and although the menu was relatively limiting and the restaurant almost deserted, we were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food served. The waiter/barman provided excellent service. Our room smelt a bit of damp - most probably due to poor ventilation in the bathroom, which itself needed a bit of updating. We would have asked for a move had we been there more than the 2 nights. Inspite of check out stated as from 7 am, there was no receptionist on duty before 9 am, so a number of guests like us were left hanging about, despite other staff were in evidence. We may have only been delayed 15 minutes or so but had we been aware, we would have made alternative arrangements the night before.
Nothing It was freezing cold when we asked if the heating was going to be turned on we were informed it would come on next week (November) we asked for a portable heater they didn't have any. Room was dirty and horrible. We were booked I. A Superior room. My advice avoid like the plague.
The hotel provided us with exactly what we wanted, inexpensive accommodation not too far from Santander. Comfortable and quiet. The uphill walk back from the village of Santillana could be a problem for some elderly people.
The place where it is located is lovely The room was not the same as in the picture. It wasn't bad but It hasn't window, only a skylight that you access by a kind of ladder
If you are lucky you have a room with a view which is nice, but that's the only positive I can think of. Rooms on the 2nd floor are dark and hardly have daylight. Poor quality of restaurant service, not very clean and rather small rooms, very poor breakfast. This is not a three star hotel; they have stolen their third star and should improve to keep two star. This is rather a guesthouse than a hotel.
good value great location
Staff friendly and helpful., and good breakfast for class of hotel.Hotel has nice poistion looking over the village and the countryside. Rooms were somewhat tired , and their was no air conditioning, this wasn't a problem in mid september, but could have been an issue in august and july
Parking was the deal breaker in our case. The breakfast was good, the staff knew English!
Friendly hotel, free internet access, basic food
Clean hotel, good facilities and helpful staff. Would recommend it to families. Nice pool too.
Good for a night stop off, very clean, good buffet breakfast too.
transferred on arrival to sister hotel which had more facilities. this was decided by the hotel due to our length of stay and was really nice of them as it made our stay much better. Friendly staff throughout, quiet location compared to most hotels in the area. was charged for the entire stay on booking in, this also annoyed residents in Don Diego..... No nets behind curtains means having to keep curtains closed all the time for privacy
swimming pool included, good price performance ratio, play room old style room, slightly mouldy smell in room, bathroom with window to the outside floor
Spacious rooms. Indoor pool. I would have liked the indoor pool a bit warmer.
Clean, comfortable, conveniently positioned to tour the coastal towns
The hot water and bathroom TV was too small, few channels
Good value hotel in Suances, Cantabria. Parking underground. Nice clean room . Staff very helpful and the girl on reception spoke good english. floodlight aimed at bedroom window until about 12.30am and then it went off and the room was dark. Curtains were white and not lined, so light shone through into bedroom
Helpful & friendly staff. Walking distance to beach & restaurants/bars. Secure parking. Swimming pool very small. The photos made it look much bigger than it actually was.
Covenience to the beach Over priced. Photo of hotel is deceptive
Good and helpful friendly staff. Our evening meal which was inclusive was at a local restaurant run by the ownwer of the hotel. It proved to be extremely good and superb value for the money. I wish it was my local restaurant nothing
A beautiful, small, historic hotel with very good staff in the centre of Santillana. We had no dislikes.
Easy access good safe parking English not spoken
smili,g persons especially in the restaurant; good food and recommendable
I liked the situation, the charm and hotel staff the breakfast could be improved
An absolutely superb hotel. The staff were charming and helpful. The location is just superb for an off-season break (may be a little touristy in the high season). Beautiful village, beautiful room, public rooms perfect, stylish, comfortable, delightful and quite adequate for size of hotel (just 16 rooms). Bathroom large, spa bath lovely. Breakfast excellent. Lack of restaurant no problem, lots of restaurants in village, though in November many are closed. However, remaining ones included some gems. Within half an hour from Santander, could not recommend more highly. Excellent price.
The historic setting
Lovely old world charm..lots of character: comfortable and very cosy: good breakfast choice.
Very comfortable, well furnished, restored hotel. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Noise carrying from other rooms and from kitchen
Lovely location, luxury hotel, helpful staff, very interesting village, only stayed one night, but hope to go back next year. Because of the time of year, November, not many restaurants open in the village in the evening, the hotel itself didn't have a restaurant,. so would go back at a warmer time.
It was perfect and a great value, and the breakfast buffet was excellent
clean rooms, great breakfast, friendly staff, great design, Jacuzi! the Jacuzi didnt work and we actually got a call from the front desk telling us to stop using it because there is a drain., we discover that only after we unpacked and filled up the bath. we where not offered any compensation other then switching the room ,which like i said- was already to late for us.
Charme.Very quiet. Very nice staff. I really wouldn't like writing anything bad about this nearly perfect hotel, but...there was a long hair in the ham dish at the breakfast buffet.
The hotel is a short drive from Santander & is very well located , 2 mins walk from Santillana del Mar old town and with plently of free parking. A lovely 17th century building which has been very tastefully converted to provide excellent accomodation. The owners & staff spoke English & couldn`t have been more friendly or helpful. Breakfasts were very good & offered a wide choice. Woken early (5.30am)each morning by rubbish collection--to be fair this is more of a general problem in Spain & does not refer specifically to this hotel.
Comfortable accommodation, good choice continental breakfast. In a lovely village setting, but don't be misled by the location -- Santilla del mar is not a seaside town
Very welcoming hotel. Decor simply beautiful and uplifting. Staff were very efficient and caring. I think a restaurant would complete this beautiful hotel. No negatives, only that it would have been really great to have a restaurant on the premises.
Nice hotel, nice people.
The decor was stylish, the receptionist extremely helpful and we enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the evening. Little light and fresh air in room due to small window.
I toured the town The room I received had only tiny windows and was dark during daytime
Lovely room, very comfortable. Big old style, extra bed in the room. Lots of space and close to town in park area. Parking available nearby at a cost of 2euro.
Beautiful hotel. Very helpfull staff. Great Location. Well worth the money.
Although difficult to find in the old town, the hotel was in excellent location to see the town.
Splendid accommodations, large room, good amenities (including water pressure) in a historic setting, great location in the heart of the town. The concierge was very nice and helpful. The restaurant staff could not be described as warm and welcoming, and the "special dinner" of regional dishes was served in a very matter-of-fact fashion with no explanation, or interest on the part of the servers. Frankly, if I am fortunate enough to return to this town, I will dine elsewhere.
Location, Parking availability. Room was of adequate size. Asked and received balcony. Breakfast was mediocre
The building and setting were wonderful and the room and bathroom were spotless and extremely comfortable. The waitress who was running the breakfast service was abrupt and unhelpful. The ladies who served dinner were pleasant as was the gentleman on reception. The food was served up too quickly with only a couple of minutes between courses but this is probably quite usual in Spain.
the elegance of everything the buffet breakfast was very expensive so i just had pastry and coffee
The building is very nice but the decoration of the rooms is too plain, you could hear the Tv of the room next door at night
Staff attempted to place us in a less expensive Parador stating that it was what Kayak had contracted. I showed them Kayka's e mail and stood my ground and staff relented.
It was everything one would expect from a Parador Signs directing one to the hotel are almost non existent leading to having to criss cross the village through very narrow sreets until it is found.
very pleasant room staff very pleasant if a little cool. lovely village no
Superb location in the centre of the medieval town. Good and convenient parking. Lovely old building, beautifully converted and furnished. Comfortable beds. Luxury bathroom fittings, with multi-outlet shower cubicle. Bathroom water was tepid at best when we arrived mid-afternoon, and barely that at 7.30 the next morning. Desk clerk accepted that this had been the case, but did not apparently deem it worth an apology! Breakfast at 17 euros a head was very expensive for what it was - have had better in Spain at a third of the price..
This hotel is fantastic, the attention to detail is brilliant and the staff extreemly helpful. There are some good places and beaches to visit nearby but you need a car
The staff were great. We had language problems over the warmth of red wine and the man did everything possible to get it right for us. Also the breakfast was wonderful. Eggs, bacon and the full continental available.
Reception was extremely kind, friendly and helpful and went out her way even though I had little spanish and she only a little english. Delightful help
We found the front desk clerk friendly, even though we had some trouble understanding her English on the phone when we called for the shuttle bus. Although it's considered to be an airport hotel, it was nicely removed from noice overhead.
We loved our few days in Suances, delightful seaside village with good bars/restaurants. Hotel Playa Ribera staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly. We hope to return.
The room was very modern and designed very well with all the facilities you would need as a traveller.
Small, modern hotel. Well run and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and good value for the money. Easy (about 25k) journey to Santander ferry port.
Stylish modern hotel. Lovely bathroom and very comfortable bed. Excellent varied breakfast in very pleasant dining room. Very close (2mins) to the quiet riverside beach and also close to main beaches when the tide is too low for swimming at this beach. Ideal spot for beach holiday and also for exploring Cantabria and Asturias. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Free parking and easy to park nearby if the car park is full. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
Easy walk to restaurants and beach. Good internet.
The rate included an excellent breakfast. Excellent bathroom. Free water in room weaqther forecaqst on bed. Very clean and modernistic. Will definitely return.
Design hotel, great rooms, walking distance to the beach, good breakfast Is in residential area, not enough parking space
No evening meal but restaurant recommended by hotel was excellent and in easy reach. No private parking but we found a spot right outside so no problem
Situated in a seaside town. Modern rooms.
Very Little Breakfast appalling had to complain,No way should this hotel be classed as 4 star. Very Poor
close to town centre. and staff pleasant and helpful shower did not work. internet connection did not work. did not like a generally unkempt quality
Not A lot. Hotel difficult to find due to different name above the door! Run down. Seedy. Poor area of town. Unfriendly staff when booking in. Better staff in morning when checking out.
The availability of the staff, a complete failure.
Great beakfast Included. Family Friendly.
Pleasant and clean. This hotel does not have a restaurant - which is probably just as well given the mess they made of serving 3 simple tapas dishes in the bar! How can it take 30 minutes to prepare a salad and a further 20 minutes for a second identical salad ordered at the same time!? Staff not overly friendly and gave false information about when food would be available. Swimming pool is too deep for children (a common problem at hotels in Spain).
The room was clean and tidy but no plug on bath, the breakfast was very poor
Family room Room bad smel. Poor fourniture. Bad breakfast
Cleanliness of room -good room facilities -secure garage coffe at breakfast AWFUL -bitter and cold
Free wireless internet connection was nice, if it would work also in room it would have been excellent.
Large room Difficult to find. No address given, just an area.
Beds are hard like a judo mat. We booked this hotel for fitness and sauna possibilities. These are available at an adjacent and expensive wellness center. This is closed on sundays and the fitness is also closed on saturdays from 14:00. Taking a sauna will cost you 5.50 Euro for each 15 minutes !!!
We have stayed twice at the Torresport on our way to Santander, whichis only 20 Kms away. The hotel is comfortable, the Sports Centre is available for use free of charge and the staff are very helpful. There is only a bar for breakfast which is ok when travelling. Good stopover hotel.
the terrace the design and overall quality is not up to 4 star quality.
great rooms and good value for money in the restaurant
The location was poor but the hotel was excellent. Given its distance from the town, it was a disappointment to found out the restaurant was closed on the Sunday.
comfort cleanliness staff could not use facilities before 9 am and after 7pm,no kettle in room
Spacious rooms and luxurious baths
had been advertised as near santander airport..35kms away! Receptionist unable to provide information on local buses or taxis
Position of hotel The sound proofing in hotel was not very poor and due to noise from neighbouring guest did not sleep very much
The location was excellent and as we had stayed before we were pleased remained charming Nothing
Interesting location and historic building. Although area thronged by tourists Parador was an oasis of calm. Particularly pleasant receptionist on check in. We only had one overnight stop there: longer is needed to explore the area
Its location in the centre of the town. Its location for visits to the sea, other towns and culture sites. The selection of good places to eat. The receptionists. Rather disorganised breakfasts, even though they were self-service. Parking was sometimes difficult even though there was an 'overflow' garage.
Both my wife and myself thought the hotel was good for food ,service and value for money the sollomillo del gusto was magic, although it was raining we could see it had poteneial to offer nice gardens and a lovely pool, the price per room was very good value. We would hope to stay again. Do not change a thing.John and Lesley Hooper.
Quiet; clean; spacious room. lack of elevator; scarce illumination of stairs.
The staff was very kind. Near to the beach. The noise between rooms.
reception, dinner, breakest -excellent no
Very friendly and helpful staff, great location, very good restaurant. Family atmosphere, great for a visit with children. We booked 3 rooms: one was lovely and spacious with dormer windows and bright and airy bathroom, the second was also very nice but significantly smaller (despite costing the same) and the third bedroom was quite awful. An obvious last minute add-on, with tacky furniture, very basic bathroom and a constant bad smell, insecticide spray perhaps? What bothered us is that the room cost the same as the others although it is obviously not up 2 their standard. Hotel should make it clear to customers that this room is not the same quality and should slash its price accordingly.
Basic but comfortable hotel Poor location near a gasoline station; quite far from the center of Santillana de Mar (about 5 km); impossible to use the pool, just in front of the station (maybe it would be better to add a fence around it). No phon in the room
It had a good shower.. Next to a petrol station, no staff at reception so you had to check in at the garage, rooms cold, breakfast also at the petrol station and not the hotel, quite possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in.
Closeness to main road and hence ease of finding
Excellent room. Please write at least 15 words No reception or staff on duty.
Central localization. It was some noisy
The hotel is relatively new and good furnished. The pool lies on a parking behind a gas station, where truch drivers are resting. Impossible to enjoy the facility. The staff does not speek english at all.
Friendly staff, though the front desk is not staffed all day, but there are always staff at the Petrol Station to help. A fairly decent cafe is available, or a short walk in town will take you to a couple of decent places to eat. Very clean, quiet and safe feeling despite being so close to the motorway.
Restaurant allowed smoking and not very good either
The price was the best for the hotels in this area it was located in a service area close to the motorway. There were no noise but you should take the car for everything
The hotel is new, the room was well-furbished, the bathroom was clean. Close to the Altamira cave and the town of Santillana. The hotel is just located in a service station of the motorway A-8, so the view from windows was not very amazing...The price for a double room in August was too expensive.
