Pros: we got an upgrade at no cost
The price was reasonable
Cons: Hertz desk was extermely slow with 4 people waiting in line .It took us 45 minutes to get out of the airport.
The car knocked and I felt like something was going to fall out of it

Given car with tire problem and forced to pay for
Pros: The employees were really nice at the Hilton Head desk.
Cons: However, I was given a car with "branches that needed to be removed from the undercarriage." Yet the staff said it was the only car they had available for me. It had only 3/4 a tank of gas even though the paperwork said it was full. It still had trash in it from the last people. It was clear that it hadn't been properly inspected. About an hour later, the car gets a flat tire. I'm forced to pay for a new tire because as they put it "I couldn't prove there was a pre-existing issue." Maybe not, but if the car had been properly inspected, this might have been prevented. Overall, disappointed with the poor customer service from the call center and the drop-off location in Miami, the lack of thoroughness in Hilton Head, and the attitude of "its not our problem unless you can prove it."

Buy your car insurance online beforehand
Pros: Great car, easy check in/check out, good price.
Cons: The car insurance was sooooooo expensive, more than the rental car itself. Usually I purchase the insurance before I pick up the rental, but this time I forgot and boy did I pay. Also, I was 45 minutes late with my return so I got charged for another day of insurance. They got me good.

No car available and poor customer service handling it
Cons: I was unable to get car because the rep said none were available. He said because I had a debit card he couldn't rent me one even if he had one because they don't except debit as payment without a deposit. When I said I was ok with the deposit he said it didn't matter because the payment couldn't be made using a debit card. When I showed him hertz had already charged my account for the rental he told me to take it up with kayak. I left without a car and called hertz twice explaining the situation and both times I was told I'd receive a refund. The first time I received a credit which was then again debited from my account 2 days later. The second time has resulted in nothing. I get the debit card policy but this was handled poorly from the start and I'm out $65 with no reasonable explanation or response.

Pros: Price and ease of car.
Cons: Car interior was full of stains....was surprised of the condition.
Cons: Huge line. Booked few hours earlier but they had no record of my booking. Had to wait for clerk to call her manager, leave a voice mail, then wait for him to call back in order to get a car. Didn't get the car I wanted. Didn't get a receipt, temporary registration, or any documentation from Alamo or Kayak. Initially told car had a full tank but was only half full. The clerk also told me the insurance I bought through Allianz didn't cover damage to the car despite that being incorrect, then she charged be for Alamo insurance without my consent which I had to call to get a charge back a few days later to correct. Terrible experience.

Young Driver Fee
Cons: I am 24 so I accept that I needed to pay an extra fee. However, when I booked, I correctly input my age. I was not charged the fee until I actually picked up the car which I found frustrating.
Also, there was no cruise control.

Cons: I made a reservation and specifically asked there was a car available on the phone while speaking to a person, not the computer, but when I arrived to pick my car up there was not a car there!!! When I questioned the attendant, he said there was nothing he could do for me. Consequently, I ended up spending over $100.00 more than I should have because another rental (Hertz) said they only had a van. I believe this should be Alamo'so responsibility. I also believe the attendant could have been much more helpful! He at least could have checked with all the other rental companies to see if there was a cheaper option. I would really like a response!!!
