It was Sunday and the only option I had was airport location. They should have different locations for pickup. Otherwise, every thing was great.

Downtown Charlotte, which is known as Uptown, gets quite busy, but just a short ride away you'll find the cool North Davidson St. and Plaza Midwood neighborhoods. A car is the perfect option for those looking to explore other destinations outside the city — including the US National Whitewater Center, an outdoor recreation facility that sits 15 miles west of Uptown and offers several outdoor activities. Another popular destination is Lake Norman, which is only 30 minutes outside of Charlotte.
All the big car rental agencies, including Alamo, Avis, Enterprise, and Hertz, can be found at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)'s Consolidated Rental Car Facility, which is in the Level 2 lobby next to the Hourly Parking Deck, right in front of the Arrivals terminal.

I didn't even get a car. Upon landing in CLT I saw I had received information so I could check -in. Ad we taxied I tried but kept getting notices of car unavailable, please upgrade. After 3 tries and the price raising every try I walked over to Alamo and got an adequate car for 3 dollars more. It was a joke to even think I had a car reserved

Economy

It was hard finding the actual Budget location since I found out later they still use old Budget logos throughout airport so hard to locate. Car had almost 50K miles on it, had multiple stains throughout upholstery and smelled of smoke.

Passenger van

Not great, we were quoted for a ford transit or similar with a price of $615. When I got to the airport, they didn’t have any transits and could only give us an armada. I ended up having to pay $3,300 for a van which was ridiculous.

Pick up in CLT was easy. Drop off at AVL consisted of an employee saying "park it in E17 and drop your keys in the drop box. Budget will send you a receipt." I have not received a receipt of any info from Budget since I left Charlotte. I am concerned.

Reserved a car well in advance of my trip, called Hertz to confirm the day before trip, arrived 30 min before the location opened… not only did they not have a car for me, and not have a car for the 2 other customers who we there with me, they had ZERO CARS at this location. This was my first and last time trying Hertz.

I checked in on the Hertz app. I could select a car on the app. Went to 3 different lines to find a person with access to select a car. Had to provide DL and Credit Card again even though I had already uploaded in the app. Went out to get my car. 4th line. They changed me to another car to speed up my wait. Went to the gate to get out. 5th line. My reservation was cancelled given I was not assigned the different car in their system. Turned away from gate as a result. Had to go back inside to get a new reservation. 6th line. Picked up the same car and waited in line at the gate a second time to leave. 7th line. I promise I am not over exaggerating my experience. Very frustrating.

Midnight in Charlotte Airport, rented an Alamo car after flight was cancelled. Website says Alamo open until 1:45am but no one was there to rent out cars. I was stranded because all other cars had been rented due to many flight cancellations.

They required 2 forms of photo idea (not warned ahead of time) because I booked within 24 hours. Never seen this in my life after hundreds of rentals. Everything else was sold out and i took a $200 uber instead.

Pros:

Staff was relatively friendly and helpful, vehicle was excellent.

Cons:

The vehicle was not waiting for us when we arrived. We had to wait over 30 minutes for a vehicle to arrive at the facility. Communication of this was poor as we were told the wait would be only 10 minutes and I believe we were not immediately notified when our vehicle was ready.
