Pros: I was unable to leave Thailand to go to England then to Croatia for my holiday. I contacted SIXT on many occasions and they would not allow me to cancel my booking without loosing money. I will not rent with them again.

Pros: I booked a Renault scenic (intermediate class) and instead received a station wagon - they were adamant in convincing me that they are the same class. Regardless, they were not professional in their attitude and offered me a different car which that I would have to pay additionally. Quite ridiculous and this would never happen in the US. I do not have good experiences with your franchise office in Croatia

Pros: I rented a lower range car - an Opel astra. The car was really nice - lots of tech, comfortable, and more than enough for 4 people. We took the car from Zagreb, to the parks, down the coast all the way to Dubrovnik and back to Zagreb. Really outstanding my car. Rental car is a great way to travel croatia if you have timeCons: The experience at their office felt like they were trying to get me for every penny. they pressured me hard to upgrade for a bunch of extra stuff i didn’t need. Even without the upgrade the price at their office was hundreds more than the “total price” through kayak which was a shock. They (I thought) casually asked about my travel plan and I mentioned we were going to Dubrovnik. The reason they asked was to tack on an “International fee” which is a sheet of paper for ~40 euro fee because we drove through (15 minutes) Bosnia to get to Dubrovnik... didn’t see one person get asked for this so I wouldn’t share my itinerary with them if I did it again. I felt that they were not interested in my trip or helping me, only in increasing their sales.

Pros: the staff was very friendly and helpful--especially in Zagreb AirportCons: the GPS system stopped working at some point and then came on again the next time I turned on the car. this was annoying, as I needed it when it wasn't working. the signage in Ljubljana airport -- e.g. where to return rental cars -- is not good and should definitely be improved

Scammers: avoid at all costsPros: Nothing positive to say about this company.Cons: Sixt Croatia is a scamming operation. Charged me an "age excess waiver" fee because apparently my date of birth had been entered wrong during pre booking. Then told me they couldn't change the info and that I woukd have to pay the extra. Avoid this company at all costs.
Pros: Excellent customer service by person working in downtown Zagreb location. Upon returning the car, the highway we were on was shutdown for 3 hours due to an accident and we arrived 2 hours after closing time. We called the office and they allowed us to return the car late, leave it parked on the street and drop keys/forms in drop box. They also checked on the highway closure for us as we did not have internet service in the location where we were stranded.
Pros: The pick-up staff were friendly and knowledgeableCons: The drop off was terrible. The person was not present- he had clearly just walked away from his desk. We waited for 45 minutes and almost missed our ferry. We had to leave the car in a parking lot without knowing if it was safe or would be ticketed. Very stressful.

Pros: Convenient pick up and drop off.Cons: The car did not have a smooth ride.

Pros: Super friendly staff, wonderful new car. Great winter tires, too, which was important for the season.
Pros: If you are genuinely interested about why I gave such a poor rating, you could find out why it’s taking so long to get a refund as I was unable to fly due to COVID.Cons: See above
4.4 OkaySep 7 2019
Pros: The volkswagon golf was clean and drove without issue except low tire pressure on all 4 tires and the low windshield washer fluid was continually beeping.Cons: Better hours for early flights. We paid for 7 days of of rental but had a 6:45 am departure flight on the seventh day and was told no one would be on premise without incurring an additional fee. We then agreed to drop off the car early on 6th day and were harassed to return the car early.
Visitors to Zagreb are highly advised to rent a car during their time here so they can take full advantage of what the city and the country as a whole have to offer. Some of the attractions that are made extra easy to visit with a car include the park Zrinjevac, Mirogoj Cemetery, and St. Mark's Church (Crkva sv. Marka). Also, with a car, visitors can take day trips to some of the neighboring cities like Samobor and Varazdin.
Booked a flight to Zagreb Airport? Well, if you find yourself in need of a rental car too, you will find that rental car counters are located both within the airport’s main hall and in an adjacent parking lot.
Zagreb’s streets are organized in a somewhat unique fashion in that a large portion of them are one-way roads. Rather than just smaller avenues and narrow lanes being one-ways, Zagreb instead opts for a traffic layout that is dependent on them. This can make navigating the city difficult at times, as many drivers are used to two-way roads being the dominant option in a city. However, if you plan ahead and have a GPS device ready, then you should not have too many issues navigating Zagreb.
Unfortunately for drivers, Zagreb does suffer from moderate congestion during rush hour. The daily rush hour typically runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and then starts up again around 4:00 p.m. and finishes up at 6:00 p.m. Some of the streets worst hit by congestion during rush hour include Avenija Dubrovnik and Selska Cesta.

Zagreb’s well-maintained roads make it suitable for all sizes of vehicles. However, the most popular cars are smaller SUVs, compact hatchbacks, and sedans. So, if you would like to fit in with the crowd, then those are all good choices. Also, another point to consider is that larger vehicles may have trouble finding streetside parking spaces large enough for them in the central business district.

Private parking garages and lots dot the downtown area of Zagreb, so parking shouldn’t be too much of a hassle for most destinations. However, if you are looking for streetside parking, then you may have to park an extra block or two away during peak business hours as parking spaces fill up fast and are limited. Drivers should also note that streetside parking is designated with white paint, while the yellow painted areas are strictly forbidden to park in.
