10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is our happy place after two visits two years apart. It is exactly as we remembered it the first time- Fabrice and Francois are even more charming and the property is still tranquil and magical! They made dinner reservations for us at a restaurant in the nearby town which turned out to be our most delicious meal while on our holiday to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. It was a perfect day and night spent there adding to our memories of this enchanting place.
Cons: We only stayed for one night which is not nearly enough time at this gorgeous place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is perfection: dream-like and other-worldly, comme ‘Le Grand Meaulnes’, it’s hard to imagine accommodation in a more beautiful setting - we couldn’t read our books for just looking. Beautifully decorated rooms in an old flour-mill set in the middle of a millpond, with exquisitely beautiful vistas across the water. Shaded hammocks and sun loungers to while away the hours, the tranquillity is incredible and enchanting. And there are no mosquitos here! Not one! (the numerous giant bright blue dragonflies eat them all). There are ducks, pigeons, a heron, some turkeys, and hens and bantams provide fresh eggs for Fabrice’s incredible breakfasts. Fabrice’s hospitality knows no bounds, nothing was too much bother, he is a charming and entertaining host who gauges to perfection the needs of his guests. When we stayed, it was his night off cooking, so he pointed us in the direction of the restaurant in nearby Saché, which offered a delicious à la carte or set menu. Sache and environs are not only very pretty but also offer a wealth of cultural things to see and do, should it prove possible for you to drag yourselves away from the absolute peace of this beautiful and unique accommodation.
Cons: We had to leave!! Everything was so perfect.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Extremely lovely place, amazing hosts, private garden to chill and have a glass of vine. Location right next to the castle - very cool view.
Cons: Breakfast is super nice and very instargammable, but would be great to have a bit of cheese and ham apart from fluffy delicious croissants with finger licking home made jams and organic butter.

Pros: Great host, beautiful decorated room. very large family room. details are all covered. the breakfast is plenty and special.
Cons: blackout window treatment but everything is perfect had a wonderful night here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous breakfast, great choice so much effort put in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was magnificent with many homemade and fresh items. Lots of choice too. Service was attentive and friendly. Breakfast taken in the beautiful and interesting garden was a real bonus. Cant say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
7.9 Good
Pros: Charming location, B&B, and hosts with tasteful decor and an overall pleasant area. It was great to have a large backyard area with locking gate where we could keep our bikes.
Cons: The top level room was too hot for us to sleep and we had to leave one day earlier than we initially planned. While we didn't expect to have AC, the bedroom had only one window (with one more smaller one in the bathroom) that was insufficient for getting any sort of air exchange with the small desk-top fan provided. Perhaps a couple of bigger stand-up fans might have helped alleviate the issue but after one night of no sleep, we didn't feel like experimenting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location. Room above interior design shop demonstrated the owners' obvious flair for design. Hosts went to great lengths to provide a home made breakfast which was incredible!
Cons: Absolutely nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding, lovely place. Excellent design and atmosphere.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a delightful hotel in the centre of one of the prettiest small towns in France. Close to both the Chateau of Azay le Rideau and the town centre which has many restaurants and cafes. Service, staff, welcome and assistance all first class. They speak good English (I am an experienced French speaker)
Cons: Azay is full of one way streets and no-entry signs. To reach the hotel by car it is necessary to ignore the No Entry signs, which I suspect are only there to deter day visitors. There are several car parks near the hotel.

Pros: We felt really welcomed in this charming little hotel. Nicely decorated, great location and with a warm staff ready to help us. I definitely recommend!!
Cons: Everything was great.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the picturesque village and its Chateau, Azay Le Rideau, the Manoir de la Touche is nestled in a lush park environment. The Manoir has nothing pompous to it, but it's a very charming and historical building. Welcomed very warmly by the owner, we immediately felt comfortable and enjoyed the peaceful rest during the long drive through France, from the East boarder to the Atlantic ocean. The room was beautifully decorated and we didn't miss anything to make our stay as comfy as it can be and our sleep perfectly restful. The close by village and the surroundings are so nice, that we decided to stay a half day longer in the area than planned and we will definitely come back. We hope the Manoir and the friendly owner family will have space to accomodate us again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A truly beautiful building with a castle-like feel to it. We had a very nice room and a big breakfast (fresh bread, pastries etc.). Maud was extremely helpful and an excellent host. We enjoyed being able to rent bikes from the Manoir and cycle into the town to see the Chateau and to a nearby vineyard.
Cons: N/A.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hospitality. It’s a small chateau with huge rooms and ambience but renovated to a very high standard with new bathrooms. It has an indoor swimming pool and billiards. They provided bicycles with helmets and there are many interesting things to do and see. The town of Azay-le -Rideau is easy walking distance with good restaurants and shops. Quiet and perfect for relaxing.
Cons: It was Perfect. Hated leaving.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is rather a unique place to stay in a superb location. Maud, Amandine and Alain are very friendly hosts. The breakfast is great. The historic house and its grounds are lovely. Very relaxing. Really nice area to visit. It was too warm for the heated pool in my view but the facilities were very good. It was very nice to be able to use the kitchen. I liked our large room up in the eaves. Good shower and much needed fan.
Cons: Only very small things. The sink in the bathroom is tiny - very shallow - yet the bathroom is big. For a six-day stay for two people there perhaps needs to be more space for clothes. Rooms are not made up unless requested which is unusual for a place in this price range. However, our hosts were incredibly helpful in so many ways so this is not much really. Actually I really appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the sense of privacy and space.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing property
Cons: Great for the kids with the games room.

Pros: Amazing character to the manor, lovely host and a beautiful little village .

Pros: The setting of the Les Machetieres is truly relaxing & quiet. A farm with guest rooms surrounded by a forest & graced with horses, poultry , a pond and beautiful country setting. The hosts go out of their way to insure your comfort. They prepared a dinner meal for me & other guests as well. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with homemade jam, locally produced apple juice, great coffee & service . The room I reserved is on the first floor. It has been refurbished with a modern bathroom, shower & outstanding sleeping room. I highly recommend this room !! If are in the area don't pass up this opportunity....
Cons: Nothing to add !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very pleasant stay. The host was delightful and the evening meal was good. Very peaceful location
7.5 Good
Pros: Very warm welcome and a quite good breakfast (not only for France ...),
Cons: Maybe not the right place for a one-night-stop at late December; I don't know why, but I had the idea in mind, that the rooms belong to a restaurant and when we arrived in the evening after eight, I had the hope to get some type of diner there, but we didn't, so we had to go back to (at this time of the year) "poor" Langeais ...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved our stay here! Very friendly owners who gave really good tips. Loved the breakfast and the rooms were amazing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Adolf and Linda greeted us so warmly as we arrived after a tiring day. We felt at home immediately. Their manor house is impressive with high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. Linda is a marvelous cook and her large kitchen is a dream. We slept soundly. It was very quiet and calm. The view from their home across the Loire is a picture postcard to be sure. Linda helped us find a restaurant on a Sunday event when few were open nearby. She made the reservation and even recommended some dishes. At breakfast we not only could choose from her homemade jams but also were treated to fresh cooked eggs( by Adolf) from their own chickens. There were croissants, many varied cheeses and breads, fruit from their garden and delicious coffee and juice. Our conversation at breakfast with Linda and Adolf was truly delightful!!
Cons: We had a little trouble with our GPS finding la Manoir since it is in such a rural area but it is actually just up the hill from the Loire near Langeais.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting Great pool Super breakfast Charming hosts Easy location Fresh linen, high quality bedding Beautiful decor
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house with a very nice garden, views and surroundings. Nice big family room for 4. Excellent hosts! They made us feel at home and feel so comfortable. We didn't want to leave!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Basically, it was the best place we stayed in France. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The location is off the beaten road but in the proximity of major Loire Valley castles (we think is mandatory to have a car). Nice yard with a (far) view of the river. Lots of green and quiet surroundings. Over the 4 days we stayed there, we received some "visits" from the deer in the forest nearby. The breakfast was excellent - great diversity of products, including fresh vegetables and fruits, different types of cheese and meat, very good omelettes (with eggs from "happy" chickens), home made jams, juice, coffee, milk, croissants, chocolate bread, etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: C'est Magnifique' !!! Traditional french style home, each room tells a story and is full of character and charm and has an amazing view of the Loire Valley from the front garden. Has a fantastic outdoor pool with seating area, hospitality is absolutely perfect!! A great location for total relaxation. Has enough parking for about 5/6 cars. The bathrooms are all modern and clean. Linda and Adolf will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They planned a wonderful dinner in the evening with bubbly and wine for my partners birthday. It was like going from home to home. I couldn't thank them enough, one of the nicest people we've ever met. Highly recommend a visit!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a nice view! What a nice house! Delicious breakfast with local products and interesting conversation with the owners. Highly recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful place to stay! Our lovely hosts, Linda and Adolf, were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was big, beautiful, furnished with antiques, with a spotless modern bathroom, a very comfortable bed, and a fabulous view across the Loire. The whole house is just beautiful - elegantly and tastefully furnished with antiques. It's situated off the beaten track, up above the river, yet only a ten minute drive away from the historic town of Langeais with some good bars and restaurants for all pockets. An excellent central point for many of the great chateaux, gardens and museums. We breakfasted on home made jams, wonderful artisan breads, meats and cheeses from the local market, around a big kitchen table with Linda and Adolf's lovely family and friends, and after just three days we felt part of the family. Adolf even gave my 'other half' a parting gift of a bottle of cider, as he had been teasing him about the weak lager he had been drinking! We were very sorry to leave, and will definitely return.
Cons: Nothing about the house, everything was perfect.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has been renovated from an old horse changing station, where travelers would have changed horses or spent the night. We like that you can still imagine that past within the hotel; it isn't hidden and it adds charm and character. Everything was clean, the rooms seem to be named after Loire chateaux (we were in the Amboise room, which was beautiful), the staff were absolutely wonderful and very attentive. We had the breakfast buffet, which we thought was very good: ham, choice of cheeses, yogurt, fruit (fresh and dried), croissants and baguette as well as assorted pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, coffee with warmed milk, juice...all plentiful and delicious. We would happily stay here again; it is a good base for exploring the area with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Plus it is literally a 5 minute walk to the Azay-le-Rideau chateau, which is not to be missed. We felt welcomed and very comfortable here. Recommended!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Shame it has been renovated. We preferred it before! Also restaurant is too fancy and a very characterless room.

Pros: This is a gem of a place. Great restaurant! Original food presentations of high quality, presentation, originality and taste. Bravo chef! Delightful comfortable and very stylish bedroom and shower room. It all works. Set in the apple and pear orchards! Absolute peace! Great people! The head waitress even bagged up our uneaten croisssnts etc from breakfest for our journey to Calais!
Cons: I thought the wine list too expansive and too expensive for this level of restaurant. Could ‘t see sny easy half bottles. So we chose to match the surprise gourmand menu with the wine match but didn’t like all the wines. I think it would be better to specify the menu as the alternative was a la carte.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ground floor room with terrace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stay AND dine (divinely...that Michelin star is well deserved)...what could be better? The accommodations, breakfast and dinner are stellar. The property was so kind to allow rental bikes to be delivered since the bike shop was going to be closed the days we wanted to bike to Villandry and Chateau D'Azay-le-Rideau. The auberge is positioned perfectly for a one-day velo excursion to both chateaus, and the bike trail is well-marked. It's a highly recommended property.

6.3 Good
Pros: The greeting was very nice and very helpful at the reception. Location
Cons: We were put in the annexed building next to the main chateau, the room had an old carpet and old fashioned bathroom for the price we paid. The breakfast was £20 and I asked if I could have an omelette the waitress said is not possible. The breakfast display was nice but not a top quality specially you expect you’re in the Loire Valley. I have raised it at the check out with the manager but she was not bothered and she said this is our way and we choose the best quality but the waiter should have offered you omelette.

Pros: Close enough to walk to the Chateaux and the village.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in Comfort Double Room - big room with additional entrance from the garden side, nice furniture, comfortable bed. Garden is quite nice as well and could be good place to relax after full day of chateau visiting (we were at rainy week, unfortunately, and could not enjoy it). Breakfast is classical "French breakfast" - bread, butter, croissants and other pastries and big choice of very tasty local jams. Host - Mauris is very kind and gave us lot of useful advises about local sights. Special thanks for recommendation to visit Château de l'Islette, which is real gem! Also note, that you should keep entrance tickets after visiting 1st chateau to get discount for visiting all other chateaus in that region. The hotel is located in very center of Azay-le-Rideau but very quiet. Walking distance to Chateau and restaurants - 3-5 min. Location is perfect for visiting many other chateaus in this region. There is free parking for 3-4 cars just on the territory of the hotel.
Cons: Bathroom design could be issue for couples with big childrens as there is no door between the room and shower. (Toilet is separated by door)
7.9 Good
Pros: Quiet off street room. Bicycles safely stored. Close to restaurants.
Cons: Free standing bath with hand held shower rose was not easy to use - bathroom was flooded. No TV as we were staying during the Tour de France . (Maybe we should have checked the facilities before booking)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Interesting extended and renovated building on sloping land once a vineyard, now a beautiful garden. Our 1st floor room had an extra door which gave direct access to the garden. Original dwellings were caves, partly incorporated into the house. Friendly and informative owner who presides at the breakfast table to look after her guests and provide helpful tips on which restaurants are good and which to avoid! We stayed two nights on way back from south and had restful day taking in a couple of chateaux. The gem of a chateau at Azay-le-Rideau is a short walk away.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Well positioned in the lovely village of Azay le Rideau. Hostess very knowledgeable about the area.
Cons: Hostess was very protective of the French language and would have preferred everyone to speak French.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place has an wonderful garden. It is in a great location both for visiting the Loire Valley and the village. The host has some very good information about Loire Valley and it worths taking them into account. Also, she has very good recommandations about places to eat. The bed was very comfortable. The french breakfast was great and the lady very supportive with our late sleeper toddler and allowed us to have breakfast even at 11.
Cons: My room had no bathroom door. It was beautiful, designish and modern, but when real necessities appear it is not the best option. Also, there is no shower cream. Bring your own (it only has a small soap for hand washing). After 4 days there were some tiny spots of dust in the corners.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A big room and very comfortable. Modern furnishings in an old building. Interesting to see the old caves. Nice garden area for guests. Very simple French breakfast. Easy walk to village, restaurants, and Chateau. Great conversation in three languages with owner. We would like to return again. Parking in private area off street.

Pros: The French onion soup!! Very friendly and accommodating people! Lovely old hotel with a modern twist. Very clean and comfortable.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rather out of the way B andB but satisfactory hosts and breakfast
Cons: The hostess would not let me in to wait for the room to be ready - I had to leave and come back in an hour - not the greatest of hosting after a long cycle journey
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Catherine and Alian were fantastic hosts. With notice they let us check in early . We were travelling on our bikes and were concerned about the high temperatures. Very nice stay
9.6 Excellent
Cons: The hosts Catherine and Alain are very kind people who helped us with advance booking a table at a local restaurant. They were understanding of our needs when we arrived on our bicycles having ridden 50 kms in very hot conditions. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was taken in the garden with our hosts and it included home made produce with jams and apple tart. Catherine and Alain both speak some English and we're tolerant of my attempts at French. No hesitation in recommending this chambre d'hote.

Pros: Our hosts, Kerri and Kerry, were very friendly and received us in such a nice way: we arrived late, with two children and they offered us some snacks and even a glass of bubbles :) the kids took two their two sweet dogs right away. Our room was beautiful and the whole house was filled with aboriginal art. Breakfast was delicious; filled with fresh products. We absolutely loved our stay and we would recommend La Jagee and their excellent hosts to everyone!
Cons: Absolutely nothing, it was great.

Pros: Friendly hosts and comfortable room. Lovely dogs!
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is good and the owner is nice and chaty.
Cons: This is the first negative review that I've posted on this site over the years of traveling. The breakfast is the poorest I have ever seen and imagine could happen at a B&B. You literally get small boxes of commercial cereal, few homemade jams and a baguette. We were told that for eggs and bacon you have to pay extra €5 even thought the breakfast was supposedly included in the price of the room. When I informed the owner that we don't eat meat, he said that if we have eggs that would be instead of the pastries...I was so surprised that I couldn't really say anything to such ridiculous comment. There were a lot of spiderwebs on the ceiling of our bedroom and in fact spiders too. The property is rather run down and is for sure lacking the charm unlike many other B&Bs in the region. The garden is in a poor state and nothing really is set up for welcoming guests. It's more like the owners, who live in the property just want to make extra money on the side. Especially that during our visit, they had their private guests over, who had children and we were woken up every morning over the weekend with screaming and running, which as you can imagine is not what you are looking for. We've never been informed about it or nobody has even acknowledged the situation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a romantic, beautiful place! It was a pleasure to stay here for a while. Thank You Kerry and Kerri. We will return here, for sure.

Pros: Excellent stay! De merveilleux hôtes! A beautiful house and such a comfortable bed!!!
Cons: Loved everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at 6 different properties during our tour of France. La Jagée was definitely a highlight! Kerri & Kerry were exceptionally warm and welcoming hosts and we enjoyed our chats very much. The house and grounds are really charming and beautiful. Our bedrooms were spacious and cool, with an excellent shower. The location is good too, as it sits in a secluded position, but is close to a lovely local town and Château. Breakfast was one of the best provided on our trip. Fresh bread, croissants and a variety of delicious local pastries were collected every morning and sometimes still warm! There was also cereal, fruit and yoghurt, really decent coffee (and teas!) and wonderfully fresh milk! We booked a meal on our last night and came back to find a beautifully set table on the terrace! The food & wines were delicious and excellent value. A perfect evening! Our 10 year old son was made to feel very welcome too and was over the moon to have 2 friendly dogs to play with. We were missing our own dogs so having some canine company was an added bonus! We all really loved this gem of a place and didn’t really want to leave so soon! There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area. We hope to come back again one day for another round!
Cons: Nothing, it ticked all of our boxes!
