The room was spacious, beautiful and had a great view. The night staff was awesome as we had a late check in. Very accommodating. It is in walking distance to some great locations in the city.
What the description doesn't include is the location and access for the hotel. The hotel is on the 40th floor of the financial building downtown, which is a working building during the week. You have to have a secondary card to gain access to the elevator banks, take an elevator to the 39th floor, transfer to another elevator to access the hotel on the 40th floor. In order to get to the pool you would take an elevator down to the 39th, transfer elevators and take it to the 1st floor, walk down to a different bank of elevators to take an elevator up to the 3rd floor. Very cumbersome to get around the building itself -while it is humming with a lot of people in suits conducting business.
Good location, near CTA links and away from crowded areas at night. Pool and gym a bonus. Room ery comfortable, excellent bed.
Terrific views, location was great for us (we came in from O'Hare on the Blue Line and later used Metra from LaSalle Street Station). Quiet, cozy, exclusive feel. Staff were very helpful and kind, though not always polished. Health club on a lower floor is great (though limited hours for a holiday weekend and the pool was closed for maintenance). Convenient restaurant just across the pedestrian plaza (open weekdays). Being at the top of an office building and using the same elevators (except for the private elevator to go up one floor) as workers was quirky and fun, but might not appeal to all.
Decor was a little dated. It felt like it had not been upgraded since the late 1990s. Our bay windows were supposed to be framed by matching drapes, but the one on the right was missing. The bathtub/shower is deeply inset and framed with marble. It could have used some anti-slip strips or a bathtub mat and some grip bars. The area about a block away is slightly seedy (federal prison, pawn shop, men-only hotel), but we did not feel unsafe.
did not eat the breakfast
Great view out window of lake
