Restaurant, however, was excellent, you wouldn't think it could be the same business. The room and general condition of the hotel was extremely poor, decor was well beyond repair - shower room had three different layers of wallpaper all falling off. You wouldn't think you could open the doors to the public
The character of the former mill with surrounding garden convenient location to explore Cognac area. Too much noise during the night from passing traffic and from early hours from the staff quarters above iur room.Wines were expensive for not particularly good quality.
A completely comfortable and relaxing break with a lovely room overlooking the river For hotel of this type, wi-fi free should be in every room and breakfast too expensive
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel - the room was large and comfortable and was very good value with helpful staff and a smashing swimming pool with all the facilities. No.
Beautiful hotel, good location on outskirts of cognac, good size rooms,we were given upgrade because hotel was nearly empty, nice pool but couldnt get into it as gate locked! Lovelly surroundings. booked this hotel for its restaurant, told it was full but they would book us another gourmet restaurant. On arrival nothing was booked because it was sunday and theirs was in fact closed, think they told us this so we didnt cancel booking.
Excellent stay. We were staying only one night, but we really enjoyed it. Fantastic old style hotel in the countyside. Will call back again in the future!!
the service and cleanliness could have had a better breakfast
Welcoming, comfortable, very convenient for city centre.Relaxed atmosphere.
Friendly staff and very clean facilities None
Good location. Superb staff and management, very helpful and service minded. No complaints what so ever. Nice quiet hotel, not much room for party and noise.
great service, nice, clean room, super owner
convenient for town, private parking breakfast although continental as expected, was rather mean.
Good location - walking distance from town centre and other attractions, such as Cognac houses. Air-conditioning in rooms. Parking was readily available. Rooms clean and tidy. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms were very small indeed, but acceptable for a one-night stay in our case.
THe convenience of the location to the city centre The bed was very hard!
great location, parking close by, free after 5.30pm
Nice room, superb staff, reasonable walking distance to heart of old town and its attractions. Not the easiest to find even though there are the usual small hotel signs. Must pay for public parking near the hotel. Hotel`s paid parking worth the cost, but not much of it.
The staff was helpful and the breakfast buffet was good. The room smelled of mildew and was very basic. There was mold in the shower. It felt like a very cheap motel room in the US.
Te excellent people running the business, very friendly and helpful Leaving!
Room was small, but comfortable. Excellent attentive and professional staff. The front desk arranged our cognac tasting and tour at Hennessy and Otard, both of which are walking distance. They also recommended excellent nearby restaurants. On-site breakfast was very good, setting is picturesque.
Plastic as matresscover
pool wasdte in bins as we arrived in room. Insufficient toiletres
Very quite and good to rest I think the information about driving to your hotel should be reviewed and GPS points given. The toilets next to your restaurant do give a the best smell, this was said to your staff but we only got a smile.
This was our second and more thorough visit to cognac. It is a beautiful town and we had several good meals in town with taxi back to the hotel. The hotel was very comfortable with excellent and helpful staff. The breakfast was very enjoyable and of good quality. The couple that we were travelling with would also agree. Slightly remote from the town therefore more conspicuous information is needed with regard to where buses or taxis can be obtained - especially for non french speakers. We have good french so this was not a problem for us but would be for non french speaking customers
When we arrived there had been heavy snow and the car park which is down a slope had not been sanded and was very slippery for both walking and a car
Friendly - good solid 3 star hotel. This is is excellent as a stop-over hotel as its in the business/industrial area I would not use it a main holiday hotel
The pool and breakfast facilities were good. We were in the region for a wedding. We were supposed to receive a bottle of cognac from the couple who were getting marrie dbut these were never put in our room and never passed on to us. Unacceptable.
Swimming pool was very nice after a long journey. Staff very friendly.
Rooms not bad Again this Mercure proved to be disappointing. The web-site claimed to have a restaurant - but this was an overprice snack bar. We were booked in for 2 nights but cancelled the second night
Nice courtyard with easy access chalet style rooms. Very French. No one around on our arrival at 6.30 Sun evening. Had to ring bell to wake up receptionist with pleasant demeanour who showed us the room then disappeared. Restaurant closed Sunday evening.
the swimmingpool, the room, bathroom and the entrance to it is very nice. You can park your car near to the room. Most rooms are on the ground floor. There were hairs on the blanket, it could be cleaner.
Room was large and comfortable.
Very easy going place, very welcoming and friendly Parking. We know there was building work going on but it looks to us as if they need a proper car park.
We had a chalet style room which was themed to a sea-side theme. It was well-decorated, clean and quiet and had a walk-in shower. We arrived a day early and tried to book an extra night but no rooms were available, but the receptionist was very helpful tried to find us a room in another hotel.Private parking, Overall a pleasant stay. Evening meal good. But restaurant not open at week-ends.
The rooms were spacious and very well presented. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent No
Very nice welcome. Helpful and friendly staff. Secure space for bicycle arranged. Great breakfast. Clean rooms and swimming pool.
Excellent value, very large rooms (we were given a family size room despite booking just a double room) and good food at very reasonable prices.
La Bribaudonnière is full of character, very comfortable and in a lovely peaceful setting. Nothing was too much trouble for Anna who was very helpful and paid great attention to detail. Perfect!
very tranquil , stayed in a chalet in the grounds, our host was excellent ,a very warm person.
I loved the remoteness yet easy access back to the motorway. The owner was a wonderful lady called Anna, who made us so welcome. It was like home from home...thanks Anna. ps La Bribaudonniere is a Chambres D'Hotes thus the homeliness
The welcome provided by the host was very warm and genuine. The accommodation was spacious and spotelssly clean and the location beautiful. Although it was in the middle of the countryside it was easily accessible from main routes - just 2 minutes drive from the nearest. With only a few guest rooms you are made to feel like a member of the family. It is an ideal base for exploring the area.
Having travelled internationally on business and holdays for many years, I have stayed in all sorts of hotels and this one has to be my favourite. It is not too large to be impersonal, and not too small to lose the grand style of a country house. The staff and owners had just the right balance of professional courtesy and warmth, the room was excellent - no problems with size and we weren't swinging any cats around. The food was superb, the house and the setting of the place absolutely delightful. All prices were very resonable considering the high quality. Yes, I was disappointed that in the information about the hotel no mention is made that the Remy Martin family built and owned this house in 1855 and only sold it 20 years ago.
Everything, lovely lounge bar and cognacs. lovely spot.
The hotel had a very friendly atmosphere. The staff were helpful and always available to answer our questions - particularly on the subject of Cognac. There was a large amount of furniture in our room. A very large table at the window and a large armchair which limited space.
the room was very large and the views spectular the food seemed to be substandard for the hotel atmosphere
Basil and Sybil are alive and well and running a hotel in Cognac......!!!!! Fawlty Towers had nothing on this place. In a 3 week trip around France this was, unfortunately, the only hotel that did not come up to scratch. Beautiful from the outside, the inside is in desperate need of renovation and modernisation. At least the bathrooms could do with a good clean. On arrival we were told that we had been "upgraded" free of charge to a superior room from our booked double. I would love to have seen the room we should have got, if this was "superior"! A bed that was no bigger than a slightly oversized single, broken toilet seat, mould in the bathroom, no hot water past 9pm and a room so small you banged your knees on everything. Disappointing.
The opportunity to stay in such a beautiful building
We stayed 3 nights and were delighted with everything abut the hotel. We will definitely use it again. Monsieur and Madame were charming and the accommodation superb. We did not eat dinner because we were visiting family nearby but next time we shall definitely book in. Nothing.
Staying there the second time, will stay again. Lovely garden and swimming pool, very clean rooms, tea and coffe facilities in the room, free wifi and parking. Poor breakfast
Nice area , very quiet
Received a very warm welcome and good service. Room was pleasant and restaurant was very good. The Domaine itself is charming with a pool and grounds. It is not far from the centre of Cognac (25 min walk). The only slight criticism is that the restaurant and bar were closed on Sunday. Otherwise, a very good visit and shall certainly, stay there again. The restaurant and bar closed on Sunday.
Clean an comfy Toilet very small but not a problem
due to circumstances we are unable to make any good comments, facilities were limited,i.e. restaurant closed to guests on sunday evening although the service was open to guests who were taking " a cure ",parking was closed at 8.30pm so we were unable to drive to find a restaurant, access to hotel was closed on sunday between 2.30pm until 6.00pm
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff Rooms were a little small and basic eg nowhere to put your suitcase
Good restauant, pleasant and helpful staff Room fairly small
Loved Jonzac. Staff very good and friendly, and forgiving to our toddlers breaking a glass and clambering on the outdoor sofas.
Easy access to town and facilities.
lack of places to eat when you arrive after 6pm is a big negative lack of places to eat when you arrive after 6pm is a big negative
Staff were very hospitable, helpful and friendly, making for a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the hotel.
The restaurant was very good
Staff was very helpful. We came in late and the woman on duty at the desk was great. She helped us take our luggage to our room.It was after midnight and it was nice to have a warm welcome.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Friendly staff, room was clean, close to the pedestrian area, some good restaurants close by.
Close to bars & restaurants. clean rooms & secure parking but corridors were quite dark I think they should fit sensors instead of mannual switches
Well situated near the very centre of Cognac. Very limited parking space and the hotel is generally in desperate need of redecoration. It has a slightly grubby feel about it.
Surprisingly friendly welcome and check-in. Not common nowadays at 3* hotels, and I stay in hotels across Europe a couple of days per week in my work so I have seen them all... Not possible to have late checkout. I asked to check out by 13.00, and was told "no" without discussion.
