4
9.3 Excellent (839 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Like a journeyman who’s picked up great stories along the way, The Kimpton Journeyman Hotel is full of fun things to discover — like ceramic pooches in the rooms. Head to rooftop restaurant and bar The Outsider for a game of shuffleboard, or to Mediterranean-inspired modern American restaurant Tre Rivali for a plate of pasta. Any time of day, the chandelier-bedecked lobby has a communal feel that’s always conducive to conversation.

Kinn Guesthouse Mke - Milwaukee - Building
6
9.5 Excellent (58 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Kinn Guesthouse MKE in Milwaukee, you'll be near the airport, within a 10-minute drive of Harley-Davidson Museum and Discovery World. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Big rooms with beautiful high ceiling. Nice common kitchen. Good wine. Good area with plenty of restaurants. Close to citycenter.
Cons: The airco was a bit noisy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Did not have breakfast. Location was convenient for all of the places we intended to go.
Cons: Since we were at Kinn for 3 days, clean towels and having the garbage emptied would have been nice. The garbage isn’t that big. Also not all the lights in the unit were working.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was great! We truly enjoyed our stay. The room was excellent and so cool. Loved the high ceilings/brick...everything. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Folks we're so helpful and welcoming. Overall, awesome stay at Kinn. We would highly recommend it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Incredible communication from guesthouse mgmt to make sure check-in and stay was seamless. Communal kitchen offerings like breakfast items (baked goods from a local bakery) or bottles of wine. Great touch!
Cons: We didn't see one person managing the place while we were there. not a problem for us, but if we did have a question or need, we likely would have had to text about it which may delay response time/trust in handling something in a timely manner No closet. It was a short stay and there were hangers in a drawer that could be used with hooks on the wall, but longer stays would be better with a closet for hanging business clothes, etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best place to stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved our stay at Kinn! We will definitly return!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed and bedding has me wondering where I can get one for at home! The shower was amazing and their custom soaps are to die for! Cant wait to stay here again! So conveniently located to some amazing restaurants including the kindred restaurant within the hotel!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The common area and kitchen were a really nice amenity. The bathrooms were so nice and we also loved the décor. There is no front desk, so it was nice having the privacy of an access code to get in and out.
Cons: The kitchen has specified bins for each room to place their food items in the fridge. We placed some beverages in our room's bin and someone took them. Not the hotel's fault at all but still disappointing. Other than that, our stay was flawless.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location in an area where it felt like the locals live and hang-out. Really modern decor in loft space Lots of amazing restaurants and bars nearby and just a short (10min) taxi ride to downtown and to the airport
Cons: No staff or front desk so only contact is by phone though restaurant staff were accommodating, letting us store our bags in their office until check-in time
8.5 Excellent
Pros: I'm not a good reviewer for this because we got in very late and left extremely early - we did not really have a chance to experience all that the property and area had to offer. I would definitely like to come back under less time constraints!
Cons: We were exhausted at the end of a long day in heels ... lugging our suitcases up the stairs was killer.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Free happy hour (5-7) and dinner.
Cons: Parking was in the Chase bank structure across the street. Very low parking garage.
7.5 Good
Pros: I liked the historic nature of the building.
Cons: Parking. We were told it would cost $22 to park across the street. The check in person did not give us a voucher and when we checked out the person told us “oh, we only have so many vouchers we can give out in a day. But you parking shouldn’t be more than $15. Well, it was $29.50. Every guest should get a voucher. It wasn’t right to do that to us. So that put a bit of a damper on the stay.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Woke up our first morning there and we had NO water......showers, toilets, nothing! Called the front desk and we were told “oh yeah we are having a problem and you won’t have any water for a couple of hours......no notifications from the front desk at all......had to go to another place in town and “borrow” a shower....ridiculous! Then we were charged the full price!!! Unbelievable!!! We will never stay there again and will tell EVERYBODY we know who comes into town to stay away from this terrible hotel!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We weren’t really looking to pay a lot for our accommodation this trip as we were on a bit of a budget. We booked through a booking group and paid above what we had planned. But worth it! The rooms were big and comfy and clean. The hotel is within walking distance to the Harley Museum and a nice stroll along the river. We went into the historic third which was beautiful- lots of cafes and bars. The provided breakfast was a real bonus and the ‘social’ at 5 was great. If you didn’t have food allergies (no gluten) you have have eaten here and not needed dinner! Beer and wine on offer as well as substantial snacks!
Cons: There was some construction happening next door but it didn’t bother us at all.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable.
Cons: Everything was great except they had me down as a no show. Since I wasn’t listed as a registered guest I couldn’t use the WiFi. Didn’t realize the problem until close to check out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very updated with high ceilings and big windows with view.
Cons: Construction work outside even shook the building. We should have been informed prior to booking the room. The noise was very loud. Also. Parking is $22.00 per day.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Too much noise because of construction next door, including the weekend. Also, could hear everything from room next door, including when they were having sex. Could not sleep at all.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Spectactular landmark building, beautifully restored to reflect both its historic roots and yet offer both a contemporary aesthetic and modern amenities. The renovated building has only been open for a couple of years, so everything still feels very "new." The location is FANTASTIC as it is on the edge of the Third Ward and easy walking distance to the waterfront, downtown and the new Deer District. Our room was huge, very clean, and having a full kitchen (including large fridge) was a plus. Front desk was understaffed for a busy weekend and yet I received outstanding assistance from Tammy L. who helped me out of a jam when I could not get my car out of the CHASE parking lot across the street. (Thanks again, Tammy.) The photos on the website really don't do the property justice. And the design of the hotel far surpassed anything I ever experienced at a Homewood Suites, which I think of as a more mid-market, comfortable, family roadtrip brand. Thank you for a great weekend.
Cons: Temperature control a little difficult to manage, perhaps because of the high ceiling (which otherwise is a huge PLUS). Sound travels a little too much between rooms. Crying baby next door and loud conversations above were disruptive even though street noise was not, despite its central location. Sound may be traveling through the ventilation system.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic building, completely remodeled! Comfortable, elegant, beautiful!
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked the location of the hotel. It was right outside of the Historic Third Ward. Right across the street was the Milwaukee Public Market. Walking distance to everything downtown. The hotel room we stayed in was very nice and very clean; spotless! I loved the space of the room with a very high ceiling with a very nice kitchen. I liked the design and upkeep of the property and building. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat!
Cons: The only draw back to our stay at the hotel was the pillows. They do give you 2 separate pillows. One is semi-firm and the other one was useless. It was so mushy and flat that it served no purpose for sleeping. Other than that, I can't say enough positive things about the hotel, its location and the cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was in walking distance of a lot of great places! The bed was pretty comfortable. The room was very clean. The breakfast was pretty much what you would expect from a hotel breakfast, nothing special.

Cons: Nothing!
5.8 Okay
Cons: Horribly overpriced. Not in walking distance to anything we wanted to do. Menu was very limited and had nothing basic. Very “fancy “ food for a hotel that advertises it caters to Harley riders. Out of Bud Light.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facility is beautiful. The grounds, room and food were all beyond our expectations.
Cons: Loved it all. We will be back
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Love the historic building restored. The outside patio and sitting areas were also amazing. Second time staying and the room was very clean & comfortable along with a great city view. I even liked the little shampoo & conditioner in the shower (and I normally don’t and bring my own). Iron Horse has included high quality and detail into the end to end experience. Hospitality done right !

Pros: Old character, new flyer. Beautiful. I love the history
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: I wasn't xpecting a handicapped room but it wasn't big deal
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: It's in an up and coming place but was a bit outside of the rest of downtown, and didn't feel like a safe place to be out walking alone.
Cons: The Staff were all very inhospitable. It felt like I was being a burden by staying there. Overall the room was small and underwhelming, for the high cost I was expecting more.

Pros: The room was large, great location downtown with a Starbucks just around the block. The best part was the front desk staff & bellmen. Upbeat, friendly & overly accommodating. Georgie at the front desk did it all - including delivering toilet paper to our room! Also, enjoyed the easy walk up, complimentary, self service coffee & watermelon water in the lobby!
Cons: The one thing that was weird to me was the room was so big for a double it had a sitting chair with table - great, love it. BUT 2 sitting chairs could have fit & would be nice since it was a double room with 2 of us.

Pros: The room is very pretty; nice design. My 16-year-old slept in the tiny pullout chair bed, and didn’t complain. The hotel must be soundproof because we were there the night of 4th of july and literally didn’t hear a thing. We liked the bbq joint downstairs.
Cons: One thing that would have been better is to separate the toilet and shower rooms or make the shower door opaque. For a family having one person commandeer the whole bathroom is a problem.

Pros: It is beautiful inside and out. Highly recommended. Staff is very kind and very easy to talk to. Would love to stay again.
Cons: The area around it is a bit sketchy. Walking back from the Rave/Eagle's Club, we heard a really brutal scream that was extremely unsettling. Other than that, it is beautiful.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic! Fresh, summer fruit, cereals and bread items. Coffee and juices. Real silverware and plates!
Cons: The pillows were hard. Selections of softness would be nice on the bed. The mattress was noisy! Every time I moved or got up the mattress squeaked.
7.0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable
Cons: The hand held phone did not work. No microwave. Expensive breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We visited family in Milwaukee and stayed here because hotels downtown were over $300. It was great and exceeded our expectations for an airport hotel. Will definitely try Hyatt again .. checked in at midnight woman who checked us in was great !!
4.0 Okay
Pros: I liked that this hotel was easy to get to and the parking was free. It was also a quick Lyft to Downtown and the Public Market. Easy to get to in Milwaukee and very close to the airport. Friendly staff and the short trip to downtown was a good benefit.
Cons: I thought the online descriptions of the hotel oversold what was actually offered. Drinks were fine, hotel room ok, there were some stains on the bedspread, very few amenities in the room. Overall, I would have given 2.5, maybe three stars.
6.8 Good
Cons: My bathroom smelled of smoke so did all the towels.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: everything was great except the bed itself and the pillows.
Cons: bed and pillows
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful!!! Clean!!! Great proximity for us to grab a quick Uber to Summerfest!
Cons: Breakfast was only included if you were a member...but wasn’t very clear until a staff member came up to us (after we had a plate of food) and told us we needed to pay.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Size of room
Cons: Overpriced
8.0 Excellent
Cons: I guess I booked through a third party, saw it offered free shuttle. Apparently I missed the fine print that park/ride wasn’t included. The reason I booked with Hyatt was because I thought it was included (stated it was offered) but then was told by staff I should have looked at the fine print! Have stayed at several hotels in Milwaukee and if it was noted in the booking I always received it, none of this “fine print”! It was easily missed by me I guess, should have known the offer I received for the room was to good to be true. They will get the money out of you some way or another.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: friendly staff , clean rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff made for a great stay.
Cons: There was nothing not to like. Everyone and everything was top Level.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Comfortable beds.
Cons: Had issues with two rooms. Asked to be switched from first room. When asked about my stay I was truthful and said it wasn't great. Apparently you shouldn't expect working bathrooms or t.v's. Or management that would work to try and make it right.

Cons: It took us about an hour to check in. Probably the longest I've had to wait. They only had 1 staff in the front desk and their machines weren't working so after waiting to check in and heading to our room to use the card it wouldn't work, so we had to come all the way back down to get it figured out. Aside from the check-in in process everything was fine.

Cons: The airconditioner was a little noisy, and the cold wind comes out for a while. The room was very dry, if they had a humidifier in the room, it would be perfect. Do they have some on request? I didn't ask.

Pros: The owners are so welcoming. Each room has its own identity and this is enhanced with local artists’ work displayed on the walls throughout the property (which can be purchased). Breakfast was excellent. Loads of tips on local eateries/bars and things to do. We wish we had more time to stay longer. Definitely would recommend and would definitely come back. Thank you!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have been staying for the second time at this location and it was a great experience again. Mary and Andrew are great host that I liked very much to interact with. The breakfast that they provide is outstanding and exceeds all top hotels I have ever been to. The city center can easily be reached by bus within 20' and there are very good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Whenever I will come back to Milwaukee, it is clear that I will stay at The Muse again.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Very noisy and loud. Room could not be darkened due to stain glass windows between the room and the common areas which were lit all night. Outer door would no lock and was beeping incessantly until we went out and closed door. Beds very too soft. Overall worst night sleep my wife and I have at any B&B.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in Loli’s room and everything was perfect! The bed was comfortable, the artwork was beautiful and for breakfast there was fruit, baked chocolate bread and the main course plus, they made sure to meet my dietary needs! The area was safe and there were plenty of restaurants and bars close by. Andrew and Mary Ellen were great hosts.
Cons: The only thing I would have hoped for was to take a bath in the claw foot tub that was in the pictures. The bathroom in Loli’s room did not have the claw foot tub but does have a full bath/shower combo. Overall, though, it was a great room!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great experience all around. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Close to restaurants and shopping so we could walk to dinner. Spacious room with all the amenities you'd expect. Breakfast was fabulous and abundant.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: After a long day traveling, you come to this beautiful house. Mary Ellen and Andrew the Hosts open the door, and you feel yourself straight away very welcomed. The standard of your house is great. The bedroom and on suit bathroom, the porch and the garden are wonderful, quiet and absolute clean. After a long, deep and restful sleep in a comfortable bed you start your day sitting down on a table already nicely laid. Mary Ellen and Andrew spoil, you with a delicious breakfast you won't get anywhere else in the US. We highly recommend this lovely B&B. It was liked being looked after by family. You arrive as strangers and leave as friends. My wife Grazyna and I can’t thank you enough for your hospitality. We hope to come again. John
Cons: Absolutely no complaints.

Pros: We had lovely stay and Andrew and Mary Ellen's bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Loli room, very beautifully decorated and comfortable. We loved the stained glass and artwork. Andrew and Mary Ellen were wonderful hosts! They gave us great tips for area restaurants and prepared a delicious breakfast for us. The cheese and wine hour was a nice touch and it gave us a chance to meet the other guests. We will definitely stay at their charming home again! Thank you! Show less

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy, clean and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Warm and welcoming. We had a great time. Hosts were wonderful, caring and interested in us. We really enjoyed our stay. The Muse was peppered with all sorts of little bonus items that really assisted our comfort, for example, being able to borrow bicycles, having access to bottled water and sodas was great but not as a good as the free cake! We stayed three days, creative breakfast every day. Best bit of the stay - sitting on the porch, rocking on the swing seat and reading. We also appreciated being close to the local community, e.g. a local community group organises for local artists to perform in the nearby park, called Humboldt (photo). This was really enjoyable and really simple.
Cons: N/A

Then when confronted we were told not their issue we need to talk to valet manager as valet manager stood with us we were told because we were upset they would call police...wth.....this place offering nothing but excuse s... not done with this (do not stay here)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I like the fact that entertainment was all within walking distance. It truly helps that I didn't have to drive . The area is great
Cons: Can't really say what I didn't like. I didn't have time to focus on the negative.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice, the staff friendly. We were given directions to riverwalk and nearby restaurants and had a lovely evening.
Cons: We were mystified by the lights that did not work until I figured out that we need to put our room key in a slot near the light switch. Since we are both over 70 we did not notice the very small print on the receptacle for the key, particularly since the hall was dark because the light was not working. A heads up in some fairly obvious place or a word when we received the key would have been helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and new. Location excellent for doing stuff in downtown Milwaukee.
Cons: Construction in the building woke us at 7:15 a.m. but check out staff deducted an amount off our bill and gave us some free snacks for our inconvenience.

Cons: Having to valet park for an extra $30 was an unpleasant surprise. Also someone attempted to enter our room around midnight; probably had the wrong room, but still made us anxious
