Pros: Perfect location for great wall scenic area, but the room is also very comfortable with good facilities: AC, hot water, kettle, TV, wifi, all great. The owners are super sweet and they run a restaurant downstairs so food is always available. You can see the great wall from the room, amazing experience!
Pros: We liked the location, walking distance from bus stop, great wall entrance and the small village. The owner and staff were so very nice and hospitality was superb. Food cooked on sight was delicious with produce from their gardens. Very clean and beds comfortable. We will return. Wonderful experience!
Pros: The owners were super friendly and nice. Very quiet at night.
Cons: No hooks in the bathroom to hand towels
Pros: The guest house was perfect. Simple rooms, Great location, less than a 5 minutes walk from the entrance gate. Mrs Li was charming, cooking us outstanding dinner and a lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend for everyone who's looking for an affordable place to stay the night next to the Great Wall of China. Attached a photo with the view from the room
Pros: We really liked Mrs. Li. As we eat mostly vegetarian we were happy to see that she's cooking a lot of vegetables. She provided us with amazing breakfasts and diners. Best food we had during our stay in CHina.
Pros: The family were absolutely lovely and so very helpful. It was our favourite place in China for both the location and the people! Li is a great cook and used home grown vegetables. we were sad to leave. What a gem of a family :)
Pros: The family are great hosts and the food was absolutely delicious. It's 5 minutes to the Great Wall entrance.

Pros: Staff were super friendly. Food at the restaurant was great with fresh local produce. Overall had a great experience at this beautiful place tucked away right next to the Great Wall.
Cons: More signs leading up to the hotel would be much appreciated. We arrived late at night and it was a bit hard to find the place with no signs and heavy fog.
Pros: The property is clean quite and surrounded with Beautiful trees
Pros: We loved the tranquil setting of this property, it was so peaceful and the landscape was beautiful. It was about a 5-10 minute drive from the wall, they took us there and helped us by tickets etc which was very helpful. The room itself was modern and very spacious. The staff spoke little to no English (apart from one lady who spoke a bit of English) but we didn’t find this a problem, they used a translator app and were very eager to please. They picked us up from the airport and arranged a ride back to Beijing. We would definitely stay again!
Cons: We found it to be pretty good value for money, although some may find it steep since it’s location is a little out of the way.. for us this was what we wanted.
Pros: We arrived in the early morning and the reception kindly checked us in early. Super helpful and friendly staff. We had a great time in this beautiful hotel.
Pros: If you're deciding whether to stay at this hotel to be close to the Great Wall say yes. The hotel staff go above and beyond to make your stay special and memorable. They are incredibly helpful and hospitable. The food is excellent, it has a traditional essence and the hotel decor feels fresh, modern with a traditional twist. The staff tried hard to translate to English which was incredibly helpful as we spoke no Manderin. The Great wall of China is 5-10 minutes drive. This would be a place to stay if you want peace and quiet amongst nature.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Pros: Really beautiful setting and amazing rooms, very close to the wall. The English speaking staff were incredibly helpful and offered free shuttle to go see the wall.
Cons: Food not catered to western palates, and little to none other dining options due to remote and beautiful location.
Pros: The location is great, particularly if you want to explore less touristy parts of the Great Wall. The hotel is set in a quiet location. A complimentary bottle of wine and fruits upon arrival were nice and thoughtful touches. The pick up service from the airport worked seamlessly. Breakfast included many healthy options and was delicious
Cons: I hope it will stay as it is

Situated in Yanqing, this hotel is within 12 mi (20 km) of Badaling Ski Resort, Badaling Wildlife Park, and Beijing Badaling Wildlife World. The Great Wall Museum of China is 12 mi (19.3 km) away.
Pros: Rooms very neat and clean
Cons: They do not accept Indian/International Credit card. Other similar hotels in Yanqing accept Indian/international credit and debit cards. There is only one bank in Yanqing which deals in Forex. Its a pain to exchange USD TO Yuan. Breakfast only for Chinese taste, limited choice especially for vegetarians. No one speaks English, had a tough time communicating. Even the hotel name was not in English. Had a tough time locating

Pros: If you are looking for a unique experience of the Great Wall away from the crowds, this charming guesthouse is an excellent choice! You can walk to the 'wild' Great Wall from here, and also get a taste of quiet village life in China. The staff at the guesthouse provided great service and truly delicious meals. We arrived late in the evening, and our hostess even waited up for us with tea and fresh peaches. The room was comfortable and had thoughtful touches. Would highly recommend!
Pros: The location was perfect. Just an hour out of the city, on walking distance to the Great Wall. Perfect if you want to visit this by yourselves.
Pros: The owner was really nice and helpfull. Clean and very cozy. Close to the great wall, walking distance. Nice food.
Cons: A little bit hard to get there with public transport. We took a taxi from Beijing for 235 yuan, but couldn’t get a taxi back, so it took 4 hours with bus and metro, including waiting time to get back to Beijing. Bed a little bit hard.
Pros: Everything. This was our favourite hostal in the whole trip. The decoration is just amazing! Comfortable beds, and the room with a Chinese style that we’ll never forget. The hostal is 15 minutes away from the great wild wall. You need to be in a good physical condition to go up there, specially in summer, is pretty hot. We also went to Mutianyu, other great area of the Great Wall, we paid a taxi one way from the hostal (only 150 yen from there), and the view from the Great Wall was amazing. There is also the option to get lunch and dinner in the hostal. Is more expensive than other restaurants but you get what you pay: delicious food and the attention of the staff. Now, the staff was the best of everything: good attention, very kind, always trying to help, very warm and gently. We felt like at home, and we hope come back in the future ❤️
Cons: Absolutely nothing! Was all perfect
Pros: Very convenient to all the places we wanted to visit. The restaurant in the hotel was the best. The staff is very helpful, kind and friendly.
Cons: Updating the bathroom would have been good. Also venting the bathroom drains outside would help a lot.
Pros: Great location at the Great Wall...there is literally nobody in this part. Nice staff too...be sure to have a Translation App on your phone since hardly anybody is able to communicate in English. It takes quite some time from Beijing bit it's definitely worth it!
Cons: Be prepared that you can't pay by credit card.
Pros: The location was very nice. It was not too close to the touristic part of the Huanghuacheng but still in walkable distance. Behind the guesthouse you also had access to the restricted part of the Great Wall, which was very nice but quite steep. The stuff was very nice and attentive. I Definitely gonna return for another city escape.
Pros: It's a calm, small, nice hotel, nearby the Great Wall which you can easily visit within a 20 minutes walk. The rooms are small and don't have a lot of luxury, but are nevertheless pleasant. And there is space enough outside: in the café and the quiet garden. Last but not least: the staff is very kind and helpful.
Pros: It was very clean, and good location when you travel for the great wall. Otherwise its in the middle of nowhere
Cons: We ordered the hostel and got the booking accepted. BUT when we arrived they informed that that hostel had no heating system, so we were accomodated in different one. The one we ordered had the pool table and other activities, and this one had nothing. Also, we paid for the tea like 40 RMB, which was super expensive, and tea was not included in the breakfast.
Pros: Staff was super friendly and always at our service Cute rooms with a beautiful garden and courtyard Delicious food in the restaurant Non restored parts of Great Wall are accessible by walking distance (great day hike from the guesthouse to the lake). This part is not touristic and we enjoyed hiking on the wall for ourselves (rather challenging hike sind wall is not restored)
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect

Pros: The owner was amazingly nice and helpful. He helped us book a driver to visit the region and find the local spots to mingle with the villages and share in their local culture. Really beautiful place to explore through villages and mountains, right by the Great Wall.
Cons: Only downside is that where the hotel is located at, the village is in major renovation due to the upcoming Olympics. Kills of the charm of the place, but once its fully up and running, that village will be stunning and this hotel will be your best choice in the region.
Pros: This hotel is an amazing little place! The staff were friendly and attentive. They didn’t speak English but we managed using translate apps. The food was delicious, some of the best we ate in the whole trip!
Cons: Keep in mind the courtyard area gets very cold in winter, but you can get cosy in your room.
Pros: The owners were helpful and kind.
Pros: The hostel is very close to the Great Wall. It has a nice interior courtyard and the rooms are clean with a pleasant design. The staff is not speaking English but they are using apps to translate, which is really useful.
Cons: Can be noisy early in the mornings because people are having breakfast in the interior courtyard,
Pros: The host was very welcoming. The hostel felt like a small community to us.
Cons: Vivan and her staff made my family and feel very welcome. They helped us with ticket to the Great Wall Badaling so we didnt have to wait in line to purchase tickets. And arrange transportation to the Longqingxia Gorge for us.
Pros: It’s a fabulous experience staying with the family who owns the property. Very friendly and very helpful, can speak moderately good English, delicious homemade fresh noodle soup for dinner, and an exceptionally quiet place for a good rest and recharge away from the busy city life!! Will come back again and highly recommend to friends!
Cons: A little difficult to find for first timers but very responsive owner who spoke directly with the taxi driver to help find the way. Maybe a few more food options will be nice.
Pros: My first time going to the Great Wall. We decided to go the night before so that we walk to the wall early the next day. It was the best decision because we beat the crowd. And, the best part was staying at this lodge. A traditional Chinese lodge/hostel, very clean, comfortable, and run by a very nice family. They were very friendly, polite, and kind to us. The lodge was only ~ 7 minutes walk to the wall. I will go back and highly recommend this place.
Pros: The courtyard style was nice, though it was a bit too crowded with furniture. The hotel was super close to the Great Wall. Staff were lovely.
Cons: It’s on a road which is under construction so quite dusty and busy. Had been hoping it would feel more like a small village location. Room was small - lucky we only had small backpacks. No closets or room to open a large suitcase.
Pros: Atypical place. Lovely welcoming owners/managers. Quite close to train station and the Great Wall entrance.
Cons: The dining room was very cold. Our room was also quite cold (only realised late at night that the heater was not working properly. No staff available then. Would have said something but only staid one night.)
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff and owner. They gave us very good tips about activities and restaurants around. The courtyard is very peaceful and kids friendly, exactly what we needed :)
Cons: Currently there are big works in the village which makes it very dusty outside, difficult for sensitive people... but once inside the courtyard it is OK.

Along with seeing the Great Wall, guests can also visit the nearby Yanqing city, from where they can travel to the Longqing Nature Gorge, Guyaju Caves, Kangxi Grasslands, and Song Mountain. Bike hire is also available at the hostel.
Pros: Pricey but excellent chinese cooked food
Cons: One new guest smoking in the dorm
Pros: The hostel is right outside the wall so perfect location. Also, the food served was tasty, the room quiet and clean
Cons: Keep in mind that there is nothing to do outside seeing the wall. Besided that, the staff only speaks chinese and because of the language barrier they made me pay more than what I had ordered. This happened two times, and can be easily avoided if they take note of the orders.
Pros: Food is expensive and there are no markets so it's bring your own food unless you don't mind high prices at the restaurant.
Cons: Relatively difficult to get to but great if you don't mind a bit of isolation.
Pros: Loved how close it was to the wall and that we had the wall basically to ourselves! The room was so big and clean and such a treat, we wished we had stayed another night! The staff were so helpful and lovely.
Cons: That it wasn’t as easy to get to and from without a car.
Pros: The hotel is located at the Remnant Great Wall, which is around 2.5 km away from the train station. One staff member picked us up and drove us to the hotel. It is a scenic place, everything was very clean and spacious.
Pros: Pick up service from host at train station very good

Pros: The staff are helpful and friendly. I really like the two restaurants. The food they offer are delicious and inexpensive. There were many people in the hot spring area during my stay there, but I expected that since it was the holiday season. Overall a very relaxing experience.
Pros: Service was great; the hotspring facilities were great (albeit expensive). Rooms are spacious and well maintained.
Cons: Paying additional for the outdoor hotspring, and paying again for access to other parts was a real put off.
Pros: I really enjoyed the breakfast. The bed was quite comfortable. The bath in the room near the window is a nice touch, especially when you are having an romantic evening. Staff was helpful.
Cons: No napkins in the room. Toilet paper was cheap and almost finished. In the room the interior furnishings quality was a bit lacking. The view was half hidden by a concrete wall. On booking.com they advertise the view a little bit differently.
Pros: bathtub was rly nice staffs are very friendly
Pros: + Great breakfast, restaurant Min Ho is also nice + Rental swimming caps for pool use for free + Nice lobby, architecture in general
Cons: - Not on a 5 star level compared to other hotel chains - in the middle of nowhere, if you are not interested in going to the nearby mall or kids park - limited flexibility of staff - concierge tried to convince us to rent a taxi/driver/hotel limousine for 700/1200/2000 RMB to go to the great Wall while going by bus is almost as quick and 8 RMB per person only - using table tennis (even bringing our own racks) is 100 RMB???? For what? - in general we had the feeling that a lot of things are extra charged - that's why the room rate is quite low - Nescafé in the room not refilled
Pros: Nice room with big space and very comfortable. Good breakfast
Cons: Hotel would has service bus between railway station and hotel.
Pros: This was one of the best hotel visits I had in my life! Enormous room, fantastic bed and all the luxury you possibly need I would recommand this to everyone + The breakfast is SUPERB!!
Pros: Beautiful hotel with a nice staff and impressive breakfast. The manager helped secure an inexpensive taxi for an all morning visit to the Great Wall.
Cons: Upon arrival the sink was clogged and full of water with no in-house way to drain it.
