Helpful and friendly staff, rooms excellent and restaurant food amazing, would recommend and will be staying again.
Willingness of staff to help in any way
Felt the room was a little cramped considering the rate paid.
Cleanliness and friendliness of staff
Great hotel good location with excellent spa facilities, the pub adjoining the hotel offered good food at reasonable prices in a relaxed atmosphere Didn't eat in the hotel as thought prices for a family of four were a little expensive therefore would suggest an inclusive rate for breakfast for this type of stay.
Friendly staff and enjoyed the use of the pool, although it wasn't clear when the children's inflatables were allowed to be used booked a family room on website but arrived to be told we were in a double. we paid extra for the family room and we needed a 'discussion' at reception to sort out which was inconvenient. expensive food and drink in both hotel and on site restauraunt across the road
Quiet room, well maintained, with some of the best service-oriented attitude I've seen in the UK. The spa had no appointments for any treatments during my stay. I had chosen the hotel specifically because of the spa, too. :-( (This ALWAYS seems to be the case, in any spa and many other businesses anywhere in this country, there is no such thing as a 'walk-in' or spontaneous appointment, but I digress. It is nothing specific regarding this hotel anyway.)
The comfort and atmosphere
staff and decor size of Executive Rooms
Comfort and easy access to shops and amenities, with good onsite parking. Convenience of inclusive breakfast. In a room for 2 persons , there was only 1 pkt or hot choc for a bedtime drink and we had to go downstairs and ask for another.
Good breakfast, and good breakfast service
We stayed in Room 7 and we had problems drawing the curtains,It seems the curtain track was the problem. All other areas were great.
well appointed , warm , clean comfortable and has character ,breakfast was excellent. Slightly difficult to access bedrooms
polite, friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble
We've stayed at the Red Lion on numerous ocassions and it's in a good location, good staff, good restaurant/bar, good rooms and excellent value for money.
Easy parking and convenient for town center , bar and snacks downstairs, smoking area if you need one. Creaky floors , noisy extractor fans in bathroom , place badly needs a refit
Friendly and efficient staff none
The room was immaculate; clean, comfortable bed, brilliant decor food was indifferent
Very helpful staff.
Comfortable , clean and friendly. Ideal as we were going to a wedding nearby.
Breakfast I tried to book through adjoining rooms for family. I did get rooms next door to each other but not walk through/adjoining.
Spacious room and very comfortable bed (we had booked a deluxe room). The travel cot we had requested was set up with proper bedding for our sleepy 2 year old which was a nice touch. Powerful shower and large bath. Ideal location for our trip to Portsmouth for the Great South Run. Very good breakfast choice - cooked breakfast the nicest we've had for a long time. Temperature in room was quite warm when we arrived late at night. Breakfast buffet did not offer yoghurts. Expensive rate for a Saturday night but it was a very busy weekend in Portsmouth.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean and bright. Breakfast was also excellent. All in all we had a great stay and recommended it to the relatives we came to see.
Quality of breakfast good. Breakfast staff poor - tables poorly laid, had to request tea again that didn't arrive. Bar food expensive.
The proffesional way we where greated for breakfast its a shame her colleague's let her down! bottom row's of tiles round bath had mould in grouting. Reception staff were to busy talking to each other to show us the facilities when we enquired other guests made same comment in bar
The ambiance of the hotel was very good.
Ease of access from major roads
The serivce of the hotel was very welcoming. My bathroom had water puddle on the floor.
The location was very handy for us.
Fresh, clean, nicely decorated and good range of breakfast items. A warm bedroom and very clean bathroom. We were surprise that there was a limited choice of drinks in the room and no biscuits
Breakfast : Polite and helpful staff Restaurant in hotel could have been more seperate from lounge area No other restaurant close by
all of my stay no english breakfast
easy to find and to use the restaurant at night offer a poor menu
Very expensive for an "overnight" hotel
A great hotel would go back in the future lovely breaksfast a great location for shopping The smoke alarm going off at 3.30 am in the am by a person who was smoking where they shouldnt have been !! hope they got fined
Everything was OK, friendly staff, i was a bit surpriced, hotel s located near M27 motorway, but room was very quiet.Restaurant was also OK, i missed full english brekafast and more food in menu
Location. Central for Southampton and the University area The rooms were cold as background heating kept at 14 degrees celsius when no one in room and took a long time to heat up.
very pleased with all areas of the hotel ,i have no complaints at all.
No Air Con in room only a broken floor standing fan.
Really good location for West Quay shopping Only grip was that the pillows were really hard and uncomfortable
Noisy bar area with leaking roof
Staff were charming and very helpful. Location fantastic and bar extensive Hotel is a bit dated and not worthy of 5 star
Room was large, well appointed and clean. More than I needed for the night, but recommended to me and with a late arrival I preferred a traditional hotel. No breakfast or coffee.
The high standard of service
Location, leisure facilities Being woken by cleaners moaning about other cleaners not doing there job very loud
The whole experience - staff - accommodation - food N o
the view from our window the breakfast wasnt as good as i expected, no pancakes!
We have now stayed twice at hotel and have found staff helpful and atmosphere very relaxing n/a
Excellent breakfast included, nice bar First room had (147) some intermittent mechanical noise but I requested move and they complied
Location Walking to room could smell the tumble dryer, while in room the tumble dryer was going all night, disturbed sleep as a result. No evening meal except a frozen tesco meal.
Easy parking, easy access - convenient location. Clean and simple no fuss accommodation. Good value for money
good size room very dated but value for money
Friendly staff: relaxed atmosphere; clean & comfortable.
position the bed was very old and uncomfortable
Good level of service
The lady who greeted us at the reception was very nice and very helpful. I didn't like the bathroom, the tiles were dirty and there were cracks between some of them. Overall I expected more for my money.
good parking - well laid out - nice beds - just had some money spent on it and not bad for a budget hotel
Very clean and crisp. Yet to find.
Location was perfect for the town and theatre that we were going to in the evening. As there was a wedding it was quite noisy when everyone from the party was going to bed.,
1. Staff – Friendly and professional 2. Food – Good 3. General Cleanliness and Comfort – Good Bathroom- Poor Standard 1. Shower fitting not standard expected 2. Mildew around bath 3. Cheap rusty Towel rail 4. Cheap and Flimsy Toilet Roll Holder 5. Cheap Toilet Paper 6. Cheap door hook (cup hook!) not properly fixed
Breakfast at 06:00 in the morning was lovely, a good fruit selection, serials and toast. Delivered right on time. The room was clean and tidy, the bed comfortable and Earl Grey tea bags, wonderful! Only one, the shower curtain round the bath is awful. I just don't like a wet curtain wrapped round me as I shower. Apart from that small thing, all ok.
the staff were very good and the meal in the morning people in the next room very loud in the morning 5 am awake
Convenient for our needs; good restaurant; value for money. Sounds from adjoining guest rooms - plumbing and voices.
Convenient location to the venue we were going to and close to most of the amenities in the town. Car parking space was ideal for us.
the building is an excellent example of georgian architecture and to a pleasure to be in such a building. The room was roomy and very comfortable. Breakfast excellent and staff both in receprion & restaurant very friendly
Quiet, clean and comfortable.
very helpful staff, were happy to arrange taxi's for us at any time and also arranged breakfast an hour early to accomidate for all the guests running the great south run.
Should of been told by hotel at time of reservation of any functions that were planned to happen on the date of stay
The location of the hotel was excellent for my visit The tv kept switching off after 10 mins, couldn't get the internet except with staff's help and this completely ruined my website translation business for those three nights causing me loss of money (the wi-fi alternative in the lobby didn't offer me the privacy I needed), the room was over-heated inspite of lowering the temperature, the pillows were too small, there was a group of Bulgarians who checked out on the last night and they were so boisterous they kept banging doors between 2.30am and 4am it was a nightmare
Leaving the hotel Rooms to small , only one small towel , evening meal and breakfast was very poor
Nice central location, but room was smaller than I expected. Bathroom was very cramped even for someone my size (I'm under 5 foot). Size of bathroom.
Staff, bfast, first impressions and location Room, plaster work, upkeep of room
Good value basic accommodation, which is what I was looking for and expected. Gunwharf Quay area was lovely - wish I could have spent more time there. Didn't like too much the local bars en-route to main town which was in local vicinity.
Had to collect towels and pillows from reception as no one was available to bring them to our room. Quality of the room was poor.
The hotel is cery nice but the noise that I have during the night as my room was in the first floor
it was a good stopover hotel in a good location. I left a ladies cream zip up fleece top in room 403. please could you arrange for it to be posted to me - Heather Tilley, 26 Kings Avenue, Carshalton, Surrey, SM5 4NX.
Room very clean, staff very helpful Bed was very hard.
Location was good Rooms very small, toilet almost unaccessable for a six footer.
Noise from other residents in night hours
The exercise room is fantastic and so are the people. The breakfast was amazing, clean, and hot. Need to replace the carpeting on floor 4. The bathrooms are new. the furniture in good shape, but the carpeting is horrible.
adam was very helpful breakfast price too high
Good breakfast Uncomfortable beds. No decent tv. Swimming pool out of use. Small rooms.
Convenient for cruise Paying for car park
Friendly informative staff, excellent breakfast, unique design of bedroom, bathroom and lighting Bedroom was too warm at night. difficult to open windows and would have been noisy
ony the above, rudeness of a member of staff
Friendly and helpful staff Soiled clothing items from a previous guest left in the room.
Good location nice gym and small pool a good hotel for business or leisure.I was however charged twice on my credit card and this was resolved by the management Food was expensive considering the local restaurants that were available in the area. GBP13.50 for breakfast seems on the high side when the IBIS Hotel was half of that price
the rooms were a good size and warm. there were no hand towels or wash cloths in room.
food in the restraunt was fantastic, staf were very friendly
Excellent sized room & bed. evening meal included None
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were in awe over your leisure facilities, and we will most defonatly stay again No bad points
the rooms were comfortable. the swimming pool and sauna was relaxing.the showers temperature and force of water was very good.
Staff is very friendly. The pool is quite small and the jacuzzi was broken.
Location of the hotel was a little far away to local amenities and some more tips on Taxi companies to use would have been helpful.
ease of access, parking, catered fopr gluten free diet n/a
I got the food to eat in the hotel. That's the only point I can think of. I ordered a muffins in the cafe coffee day counter and I was served two day old muffinn to me Room Heater was not working when I entered the room and I was never told when I was making a booking that room heater will not be available in the summer season. this caused me lot of inconvenience as I went alongwith with my wife and a kid(5 months old). And I was literally shocked by this incident. Please please intimate people what you will offer and what you will not beforehand so that visitor can make decision accordingly whether to stay in your hotel or not
The improvements to the hotel and dining area are lovely. Very impressed with staff, especially the young blonde waitress who greeted us each mealtime with a smile, asking how our day had gone. Well done
The hotel is well located and easy to find. The staff were friendly and helpful - no problem when I asked for a later checkout. Would stay again.
Very comfortable stay at the Marriott. Staff were very helpful and polite. We even got a bottle of wine, fruit basket and chocolates in our room as it was our anniversary which was a lovely surprise. Would recommend.
Car parking was poor. Only just enongh spaces
Smart modern rooms - very helpful staff - excellent food in restaurant Nothing - it was spot on
Staff were friendly, good having restaurant underneath the hotel. We arrived late so this worked out very well. Think that breakfast should be included within the rate charged for the room.
Well appointed room with modern decor. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Liked the finishing touches of bathrobes and slippers. All staff polite and attentive and would definetely stay again at the reduced rate of £100 per night. Had lunch in the restaurant and it was very good. Would recommend. Liked everything! Having Stayed in Southampton hotels before (but not this one) I think other hotelliers could learn from these standards of comfort and cleanliness. Perhaps price could include continental breakfast.
close to the red jet and cruise ports and good food T.V did'nt work, very hot in the room, no room service just a few things that if put right would make an excellant hotel
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The noise from traffic during the night
Very nice decor Much to noicy - My room was right above a very busy street
This hotel and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom design very well thought out. The staff is professional and very gracious. We were very pleasantly surprised upon checking-in and would not hesitate to return. The only negative would be the lack of air conditioning and our stay was during a "heat wave".
Excellent location for transit to cruise ships, rooms well presented, food of a high standard, staff relations good.
room decorated very nicelly with luxury touches in a very nice refubrished 19 century wearhouse. Very nice coffee maker in the room, comfortable bed and the Italian food at the restaurant was great the hotel is part of a restaurant downstairs and have no proper lobby, looks more like a pub with rooms upstairs. The room was very hot but a very noisy fan provided. People coming from the restaurant stayed talking laudly and smoking under my room window until late hours, not ideal if you have to wake up earlier next day. Wireless internet did not work .
Excellent decor and facilities ,partculary good bathroom. No
The White Star Tavern is in a great location for using as a base as everything is within walking distance. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast menu with food freshly prepared. Looking forward to staying here again.
Excellent room, very comfortable. Ideal location.
Finding somewhere with a New Year's package was ideal, as 3 course dinner, bar tickets & breakfast were all included in the price
We were really inpressed with our room it was very clean, the bathroom was fantastic loved the shower. The hosts were very nice would go again hoping for a upgrade next time,
This is one of the most unique hotels that I have ever had the experience of visiting. The history of the property is fascinating - originally part of the White Star Line, to whom the Titanic belonged. The staff could not have been any more accommodating! This hotel is a keeper!
Nice Area bed comfortable. Overall good accomadation but a couple of staff were far too busy for the number of people, ie 15 minutes to check out, restaraunt fully booked when we arrived, bar person no idea where we sould park the car which is a major problem as you can only wait for two hours. Very exspensive ie £8 for a 250ml glass of Pinot which I think is ott. £5 for a bacon sarnie. All eating however was of a comparable price so take plent of money.
Nothing Exceptionally noisy. Dirty linen. Had to go and find the receptionist in the bar. I cannot fathom how this place managed to get a 5 star rating. Perhaps I should have been warned by the "tavern" in the name.
Extremely proffesional and friendly staff
It was extremely handy for accessing our cruise ship at Gate 4 and served our purpose very well. Not quite the traditional hotel we expected but after initial surprise we found it to be comfortable and convenient for our purpose
Friendly and helpful staff. Very pleasant location with excellent pub attached for a quiet drink and also for dinner. Good pub food for the price and good beer. Rooms very comfortable and nicely decorated, also quite spacious. Room temeperature was perfect (although it was possible for guests to adjust it if necessary) - we were there in November. The included breakfast was excellent - a very good choice of traditional cooked food (including vegetarian) as well as pastries, cereals etc. My wife and I definitely plan to return for a longer stay. Very little, if anything, to complain about. The vegetarian dish that my wife ordered for dinner was a bit bland, but there were at least two other vegetarian dishes on the menu which may well have been better.
room, staff food nothing
Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and very efficient. Room was a very high standard and price was reasonable. No bad points
Food and menu choice was excellent and staff very attentive and helpfull. Fullers Hotel so beer choice very good. Large room so not crampted.
As described- lovely rooms, friendly service, well located. None
Good location for new forest area and we found the room excellent. all the staff were very pleasant . Food we found was too heavy with sauces but that was a personal choice. Would definitely use the Inn again when in the area
Excellent Inn, with superb rooms, and the best pub food we have ever found. Good and helpful staff Bed a little soft.
I most enjoyed the hospitality of the owners. I got a bigger room than that I'd booked. Nice restaurant and also nice breakfast.
Friendly staff, clean and cosy rooms, good breakfast in lovely restaurant.
Excellent facilities, staff. Short stay but most enjoyable and will recommend to others
Modern, clean and good value for money. Not really - rooms were simple but fine for what was needed and paid for.
food very good.staff very helpful.most important of all two minutes from all the shops.all happy. no.
Breakfast should of been included for the price of the room
It was convenient for attending a concert at the Guild Hall. Car parking! You should not have to pay to park at the hotel. Arrangements should be made for customers to stay free of charge.
The friendliness and helpflness of the staff - they volunteered information without even being asked, about where to go etc. N/A
pleasant and helpful staff and very clean with cheery decor! loved the extra snuggly blanket and pillows provided in the room, plus had lots of toiletries which was very helpful for those of us that do not want to check bags on the plane. :) the showerhead pressure was non-existent and light came through the curtains making it a little difficult for sleep but still generally good! kind of wish they did room service though!
To be honest, not very much.
Staff were friendly, location was excellent, breakfast was great!
Friendly checkin How can i comment if i do not use this space for complaints? I do not like your questionairre and am abandoning it.
The room, staff, food, very comfortable bed,all in all first class No complaints at all
Restaurant and lounge bar area environment very comfortable with the staff very helpful. Bedrooms were in need of refurbishment. No air conditioning in rooms. Bathroom fittings in poor condition. Not the standard expected or seen previously from Hilton Hotels. Being mostly on one level, had a long walk to bedroom. Disappointed not to have breakfast, but could not justify the cost of £16.50 per person extra.
The comfortable bed!! Only a small point but I get irritated by small extra charges (bottled water in the room and car park). If you had charged an extra £4 for the room I still would have booked it, but I would have left without the feeling of penny pinching on the part of the hotel.
Hotel has a pool and was easy to find and had plenty of parking spaces. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was included in the price Powerful hairdrier provided. The bed was comfortable. The pool is small and quite claustrophobic - an odd shape to accomodate more than 2 adults wishing to swim careful 'lengths'. The jacuzi was noisy and intrusive and I didn't find the swim a relaxing experience - a great shame.
Room absolutely stunk of stale cigarettes. There was a sign on the door saying it was a smoking room but housekeeping staff in the corridor told us that this no longer applies. However, the room smelt so strong of cigarettes and there was an ashtray in the room. Smell had tried to be masked with air freshener but this made the overall smell worse. We only stayed 1 night to quickly get ready for and attend a wedding otherwise I would have asked for a change of room.
Price - Summer Offer for 2 nights bed & breakfast. Our room was upgraded to deluxe. Excellant breakfast. No lift.
Breakfast Awful decor, rust in bath, horrible smell in place
breakfast! the chef went out of his way to accommodate me willingly.
It was nice and comfortable. A little bit too far from the town centre. Needs a little bit more dust cleaning.
None Greeted by beer glass and rubbish on the reception steps.Told on arrival that the room telephone was not working and an offer made to move us to an alternative hotel but no apology. Room ridiculously far away from reception. Bathroom was grubby. No crisps, peanuts or similar snacks available at bar.
Really super, great value, great situation. the wet room was not correctly designed and we permanently had a wet bathroom floor. very poor selection of sky programmes only news and sport and only 4 terestrial channels not even channel 5!
The location. Room was very dusty and dirty (Not vacuumed properly). It was a luxury triple!!!
The staff were pleasent and helpful, The room was comfy and big. The food was delightful with an excellent choice of wines. although only a one night stay, you were made to feel special
facilities offered at hotel and room itself was exceptional value for money a little too quiet perhaps
very nice and cool place,we love it!!!
the shower the carpet
We had a lovely room, and an excellent meal and we really enjoyed the leisure facilities. We enjoed the whole experience.
Nice location, good food, health club very good.
quality of room was very good, the breakfast was better than most hotels i have stayed in,very handy location to get on with your journey the cost of dinner
