We had an enjoyable stay for three nights in early June using the hotel as a base to explore the surrounding towns, country side and coast. The views are fantastic and the hotel provides reasonable facilites bearing mind it is a bit isolated as situated on top of a hill (we regarded that as part of its charm). Wonderful sunsets when weather right. No adverse comments, but be aware it is a 4km windy road to reach the hotel. The staff may need to know arrival times and requirement as regards breakfast, we found them very helpful.
Peace, silence, beautiful sight of the island
After a 2 nights stay at this hotel, I return home completely relaxed. The view is great and it would be one of the place i would return to. I'm not sure about the public transport connection, but if you rent a car, it would be a great place to visit.
The view is fantastic! Peaceful & quiet. Rooms are new, spacious and comfortable.
Beautiful surroundings, very friendly staff.
Amazing views - top of the hill, silence and interesting design of the restaurant. Staff very friendly. It was difficult to communicate in English as all staff talk in Spanish, however it was not a big problem. Maybe we should familiarise with Spanish before our trip to Mallorca.
It is worth a trip just to enjoy a tasty breakfast with a very nice view and very kind service. The hotel provides the essential services at a reasonable price in a very beautiful location far from the crowd even in high season and is not far from nice beaches and nice villages. It is not too hot even in summer and you can fully enjoy the clean air. In such a place you can wake up only in good mood - still you will be even in better mood once you exchange few words with the lady organizing the breakfast (special thanks :-).
Peace and quiet Long way to the top of the mountain
Cleanliness, basic but quality room, nice views. Recommended
Large hotel with every facility that you could wish for - yet fairly quiet and tranquil. Fabulous location on small cove. The towels could have been bigger!!
That it was peaceful and relaxing and having the added pleasure of a room overlooking the beach and sea was a bonus That the services (I think they were empting the septic tank just in front of the pool area on the road) were done extremely early in the morning. there was on a few occasions the smell of drains near the pool area
We stayed in an apartment and thought the setting was very good. The views from every apartment would have been acceptable. We particularly liked the gym, sauna and indoor pool. There were plenty of restraunts to choose from for all types of meals and entertainment.
This Hotel was very good value for money. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Beautiful hotel premises, also very clean and well-kept. The beach was really beautiful and not too crowded. Into town it's a 10 minute walk but there are also restaurants and shops right round the corner. Actually nothing - staff at reception was a bit chaotic though.
The proximity to the beach and town centre was fantastic. It was very peaceful at night time-no loud behaviour. The bathroom had a bath and loads of hot water! The only negative comment I have was that the beds were not very comfortable.
Clean, with a perfect child friendly position by the sea. Nice pool area, ok rooms. We were not informed about the welcome drink with the hotel manager. There were also other pieces of information that we had to ask about, that I think should have been told automatically. The supermaket which is a part of the hotel, gave the wrong change back on a 10 Euro note, and wouldn't believe us when we pointed this out. We happened to loose our camera (it probably fell out of the bag in the supermarket) but they said theu couldn't find it, something I don't believe.
great size rooms, air con. very clean. the beds were extemley uncomfortable, i have been home a week and still have a bad back. as does my boyfriend. pool isnt big enough for amount of people and an exteme lack of sunbeds.
We stayed in an apartment away from the main pool and complex which suited us greatly, it was also a fantastic location for the beaches and the town was a few minutes walk away.
Ideal Location Romm was to small and to few facilities eg No Iron, No Kettle
close to the beach and local restaurants and amenities pool too small and close to the pool it was very noisy in the evenings
The location, staff very helpful, very clean rooms, pool area. All and all a very enjoyable experience. Stayed in 2003, 2004 & now 2009 and not disappointed. Will return again.Thank you!
Size of room/appatment, good location for centre and beach, good value for money Food a little boring but fine for what we paid, little worn and could do with a bit of a make over.
I liked the relaxed atmosphere and the location. The bar food was really good.
The weather Very loud and persistant music. Breakfast was a shambles and always running out of glasses, cups, tea bags, many items of food. Dining room very short of staff. Had to make own beds on thursdays and Sundays. No porters. Use of room safe expensive, could buy one for the price I paid.
you get what you pay for... reasonable price and close to everything. would stay again.
Really good location, close to the beach and altogether stylish Nothing
The friendliness of the staff was above expectations. Breakfast was great. The way they loved small children was great. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
Room 415 was good The Cook cant speak English it was hard for him to understand "Fried Egg" but when he did the egg was great.
It's an "atipical" but a real-5-star hotel - very cosy atmosphere, with friendly and personally involved staff (especially Mrs. Ana & Mrs. Laura). It does not look like the usual 5-star touristic giant. We really felt like we had our own hacienda, with some friendly neighbours around. Superb nature decoration in the gardens and around the pool. Perfectly clean and elegant rooms. Pretty close to the beach, still far enough from noise. Felt spoiled there during our honeymoon. Definitely will stay again there. Swimming in the pool is not allowed after 8 PM. For the room cleaning staff, the "Do not disturb" sign just means that they can come in anyway, but act as very discrete and polite (happened more than once). Breakfast could be a bit more variate and fulfilling.
The staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean with good facilities. In the evening when we wished to relax on the balcony or even inside our room we found it very noisy from neighbouring hotels and bars. One evening there was no hot water for a bath. It turned out this was a problem throughout the whole hotel. Not something one expects of a "Luxury" hotel in the upper price bracket.
just back from a nights stay at the Melia, we had a great time, staff were very attentive eager to help and make sure everything was OK. We stayed half board with the dinner and breakfast being excellent. This is a comfortable hotel, clean and very relaxing. Beds could be better, this was the only fault.
True 5 star service
The staff were all very friendly and obliging and our Junior Suite was ideal for our short break I have no negative comments to make about the hotel
Lovely suites with lots of facilities, extremely clean. Very tranquil hotel with plenty of grounds Although breakfast was good. Only ate twice at hotel in evening but food in restaurant at night disappointing for 5 star hotel.
Fantastic hotel with staff who could not do too much for you. The level of cleanliness was outstanding and this includes not just the rooms but areas such as the fitness suite. The breakfast was excellent: very varied, with high quality foods, catering for all tastes. Highly recommended. We had specified a sunny room and balcony on the booking form but were allocated a road-facing, shady room on arrival and could not change as the hotel was fully booked. That was a bit of a disappointment.
hotel opened very late // easy access to tennis courts // close to the beach bedding not so good
The resort's choices of sea/beach or pool, easy walking distance to Porto Colom and local buses to almost everywhere on the island, close proximity to some lovely restaurants all with in walking distance (try the Portadores, the Florian, and the Sa Lllotja for that special meal) , 2 supermarkets - one with a bakery that did the most delicous bread for breakfast!, and a very relaxed atmosphere. It helped that the sun shone every day and the temperature was 23+.
Good rooms for the monye. Pool
Quiet location, out of centre, rocky cliff just few minutes away. Not a sea view but nice green courtyard instead. Place to park the car. Close to sandy beach located in small bay (in high season probably crowded). Modest room equipment, but acceptable especially for this price. Portocolom is not a one from big tourist resort, but it was just I wanted. Crowing rooster in the early morning from 4:20 am - ear plugs recommended..
Pretty close to the beach, good facilities and good service, ideal for families, nice pool. Cleaning is extra.
Although we found the hotel very quiet on our arrival we appreciated this greatly after visiting the nearby resort of Cala d'Or. The room was individually and attractively furnished and the outdoor space for eating was extremely pretty. Unfortunately most of the other guests smaked continually whilst eating which did spoil it rather for us. Very helpful staff particularly the male receptionist who directed us to a superb beach.
Friendliness, cleanliness, rural quiet location
We liked the location, quiet resort, close to the beach and a nice shaded walk to the Marina. Hotel was excellent, accommodation was spacious and contemporary, facilities to suit everyone. Restaurant clean and modern and the food was superb. Would come again!!! People putting towels on sun loungers, even though they were not using them, so unless you got up early you never got a sun lounger. Safe deposit boxes in the accommodation should be free of charge.
Nice hotel and we were upgraded to an apartment. No complaints really other than the "local" alcoholic drinks at the bar were a bit pricey (Spar round the corner would sell you a whole bottle for the same price). No, had a lovely stay.
Nice staff in general, except at the reception desk when we arrived. Nice and friendly (multi langual) entertainment team. TV (with many international channels) is for free when the stay is booked through this website, even though the staff is not aware of this. Spacious appartment and terrace. Wide selection of supermarkets restaurants on walking distance from the hotel (tip: Indian food at "Indiana John's"). Generally, great value for money. Water from the tap tastes horrible (on the whole island), so bottles of water are necessary. Baby cot (although provided for free) was not baby-friendly according to modern standards. We were located far from the stage, but the sound of the entertainment was going on till about midnight. If the appartment would be close to the stage, this may be annoying for little children that are trying to sleep. Point of improvement: the Teflon frying pans need to be replaced. During our stay, the telephone system to receive and place calls from the room was not operational.
i was very surprised about the hotel. the architecture and buildings looks very nice, rooms are very comfortable and clean and bathroom was big enough and the gadgets and water pressure in the shower was excellent. hotel area was clean with lovely pools and sunbeds, you dont have to booked them with your towels, because there is plenty of them. there was lots of activities expecially for the kids. if you are looking for a great family holiday i would reccomend it to you. hotel is suitable for couples and groups. the only think i didnt like was salty water in the taps. we had to buy a drinking water in the shops....
brilliant for the kids, but be prepared to get up early to beat the sunbed nightmare!!
Fantastic hotel, great for kids. Excellent pizzaria, only slight problem quite a german hotel and thus kids entertainment bit german orientated!
Very good for young families. Great entertainment at night, no need to leave the hotel. Not many british guests, quite dutch. kids club not great for british kids.
Nice evening musicals, good athmosphere for families, discreet animation. A bit too german-oriented.
Apartment set up we had was good, good size and nice to have a decent size balcony As a couple recommended to this hotel by our travel agent, it was completely inappropriate and we left a couple of days into our booking. This is 100% family oriented, and our room was above the kids club stage which goes loudly until midnight each night. The breakfast was average to poor, and it was impossible to get a lounger at the pool unless you ran out early in the morning to reserve one, like everyone else was doing. The resort is actually outside of Cala D'or where all the main restaurants and shops are, and requires a taxi each time you want to go into town (last bus goes around 5pm). The area around the resort only has one tiny beach which we couldnt swim at due to the jellyfish. Would not recommend on this basis.
The cleanliness of the room and pool area. We asked for a sea view and got it so we enjoyed the balcony. The kitchen was very small so not good for preparing food and no electric kettle
The hotels location next to Cala Esmeralda bay is superb. Our poolside room was ideal and had great views. The standard of accommodation was high and the appartment had a good range of kitchen equipment. Room always had plenty of hot water for showers and a good water pressure. I liked the hotel a lot and if visiting Cala d'Or again would use this hotel. The only niggle is the off street parking and prevalent one way system surrounding the complex, there are plenty of parking spaces available but it is very busy after 17:00.
We rented a car so we could see the contryside and others cities.. I think the hotel was a good place to stay and very nice personale
excellent hotel in a fantastic location, brilliant view, contemporary bedroom lovely staff. Unbelievable value for money NA
although spotlessly clean and good food they need to do something about entertainment side of things at night time , upon arrival no record of our booking if it had been peak season we would have been without accomadation your site needs to look ito this very quiet not much to do really although we are an eldery couple wouldnt go again , porta colom itself i:e needs to be cleaned up as its very messy with rubbish all around the resort carnt see it getting many boolings in 20 years time if they continue to neglect the area around the hotels harbour ect . as stated above its a lovely hotel staff work very hard to keep it spotless and the dinning area the staff work very hard to keep guests happy at all times , but after your evening meal its very hard to find something to do apart from walk around the harbour who wants to do that every night for 14 nights? but you carnt please everyone so perhaps we are in the small amount of guests who fit into that bracket .
The staff were super friendly. The majority spoke English very well and were very welcoming. The food was very good there was a choice of local and Med dishes, a vast salad bar, soups, pastas, potatoes and a good selection of local desserts and fruits. The harbour is very quite but they tryed to animate us with bingo, inviting brasilian dancers and a jazz singer. There is a beautiful beach at 5-10 min a walk.We didn't expected to be so beautifull.
the hotel was excellent and ideal for a relaxing holiday break. liked everything about the hotel.
Service Staff ( Bar, Pool and the likes ) Very good & Helpfull, Facilities are good, Food to fair standard, Rooms again are of a fair standard - rooms are very clean, as is the hotel on a whole - We hired a car from the Hotel ( Good rates ) Nice Hotel that is of a good standard. Facilities are good, but could do with upgrading, Food to a standard that is good but ( Not 4 *) very little to offer International guests, Rooms again are to a standard ( again not 4* ) But they are kept very clean, as is the hotel on a whole - Nice Hotel but would not go again due to location of the hotel,We hird a Car & yes you will need one if you wish to see the sites also the standard of the hotel is rated as a 4*, it is the lower end of a four start hotel ( It needs upgrading as things look to of not been upgraded for the last 5 years or so ) other then that I would say that Its nice if your looking to get away for a few days, however a week or so is too long as there is little to do in the area, other then sit by the pool all day !
Good quality of food and a breathtaking location. Very clean hotel with helpfull staff.
Excellent location with a marvellous view on the sea and Mallorcan cliffs. The staff was highly professional, very helpful and kind. Breakfast was fair but the quality of food for lunch and dinner buffet could be improved. Good value for money anyway.
Range of facilities were very good, location right on the cliffs overlooking the sea was excellent. Some of the bedrooms were slightly run down and in need of refurbishment, not a problem for the price that we paid but would be disappointing if more expensive.
I loved the seaview the most ! It's one of the most beautiful place on the island The 2 beds were separated, and there is no way i could put them together. ince I was there with my girlfriend, we could not sleep together. . . .
Gym, pools, garden terrace a concrete jungle
very helpful staff no
