restuarant and restaurant staff were ok, close to channel tunnel there was suppose to be a bottle of wine in the room as special offer, I was told it would be there by reception staff but it wasnt, rang reception but they didnt seem interested and never got the wine, also reception very slow with long waits in which time I saw and heard a lot disatisfied customers, poor reception staff and porters seems to the main problem
Happy hour was very good and so was the food= the creation of the xmas atmosphere was excellent
The hotel is a little out of date, in need of a refurb..
Excellent value. Food and accomodation excellent for the rate paid. Very little room in the car park for the amount of guest staying at the hotel.
sea view from balcony, Decent hot water from shower. Nostalgic visit as last time was 32 years ago old fashioned decor/ceilings, was run like a very touristic hotel in spain, without the weather or spanish waiters. Bar area was big but resembled a bingo hall, no atmosphere, felt cold.
very run down, very poor quality food. Shabby rooms and decoration
Large room, Good value for money. Just what we needed for an overnight stop before catching an early morning ferry. Bathroom needed revamping.
Value for Money and the food was excellant Outside noise at 3.30am caused by yobba's shouting and swearing
Run down hotel, poorly maintined Nothing, I will never return!
cheep and breakfast was good
Cheap & convenient for the ferry to France following morning.. We were 'upgraded' to a premier room as the first 3 rooms we were sent to already had people in them! Needs updating & a good clean.
Clean, quiet and convenient. We had booked a twin room, but were given a double - and were too tired and already dressed for bed to call and complain by the time we realized the mistake. Your "double" beds are really far too small and bouncy for two people to sleep comfortably (with only only cover to boot). Your clerk should have been more alert.
Comfortable, spacious room, helpful staff, very convenient for Eurotunnel, Cooked breakfast, very good value. No dislikes
Brand new hotel. Excellent impression. Very helpful staff. Shower would not heat up.
Good location near the channel tunnel. Modern and comfortable hotel and a good self serve breakfast. Could not get the room warm enough at night time (very cold temperatures outside) and no hot water for a shower in the morning - just not good enough for a modern hotel. Also we had a dog and the charge of £15 I thought was very high.
Comfortable bed. The food was very poor, shower blocked, toilet seat loose, no gritting on road/carpark. hotel has no atmosphere.one night was more than enough.
The hotel was brand new & not busy. Very clean, nice decor. The evening meal was so bad that the hotel did not charge us. The four of us (we were with sister & brother in law) ordered soup which was cold so had to go back & steak that was so rare & gristly, running with blood. We are not normally complainers but waiter was embarrassed & manager apologised in the morning. We also spotted chef smoking outside kitchen doors from the car park in the morning as we were leaving which didn't look good.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were also not too soft and not too hard. When I made the reservation over the phone I asked the girl to book an early morning call for 3am. When we arrived the lady on the desk didnt know anything about it so she said she would sort the early morning call.. We did not get the early morning call and I woke at 3.55am. We had to be at the eurotunnel for 4.30am...we had no time to shower and had to try and rush our 6 year old. The girl at the desk said she had it down for 4am (she did ring at that time) But the man on the desk did apologise as we were rushing to check out and said they had FORGOT....It was lucky that I did wake.
The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful. The room was bright and modern. Food on offer was limited and expensive. Water leak from toilet should have been spotted by staff and fixed before our arrival.
Very good hotel, value for money excellent
Conveinient and for a budget stay very comfortable and clean.
Convenient to central Folkestone Rooms shabby and in poor decorative condition. Wash and shower facilities archaic. No car parking available. Screaming seagulls all night!
The location of the hotel is excellent for the event at the Leas Cliffe Hall which we were attending. Breakfast was good, and the hotel staff very courteous and kind. The shower and bathroom facilities were a bit modest, and there was no provision to be near a mirror if one wanted to use a hair dryer.
location and accessability to town yes the washing facilities were in the bedroom
breakfast the bed was very uncomfortable, shower was shabby and took 10 min for hot water to come through. TV was was very poor. Poor curtains and nets.
very good breakfast......quick check in and out.....good position on sea front clifftop no shower or similar attachment in bathroom....no remote for tv.....noisy seagulls but could not close the window...had to park car about 400 yards away.....small rooftop room but probably due to availability and late booking
It was for only one night The lift kept breaking down and I was on the fourth floor
Leaving Total lack of cleanliness. The shower hadn´t been cleaned in months.
Clean helpfull staff good sea view very quite hotel Curtains and bed spread a little old flush toilet not quite good windows not very clean
flexibility. They accommodated my need for an early breakfast on departure day Clean, tidy, easy reach of rest of Folkestone. everything was absolutely fine and good value for money
The hotel is good value if you can get a deal, like we did. The staff were helpful and the room although compact, was nice and clean.
Our room was really lovely. And all the staff were so helpful with our baby, going out of their way to make her happy! Our room was opposite one of the function suites, and on our first night there was a function on. It was very loud and carried on til quite late, and the noise kept waking the baby up.
Easy access good location choice of restaurant bar meals and as a motorcyle traveller in room hairdryer was good. Limited parking
Excellent friendly staff & service, especially the young lady on the bar down stairs on the night of the 16th sept an asset to the hotel. None
Very good service & accommodation. Clean & reassuring. None
Comfortable stay, rooms clean and tidy Restaurant food not the best, steak tough. Very dark in restaurant.
Convenient location Restaurant food quality poor
I particularly liked the 'traditional' feel of the Hotel which was welcoming, very well maintained and extremely spacious. It has a certain 'charm' that one doesn't feel very often - and I stay in various Hotels on a weekly basis.
The room was a great size We called to confirm our reservation and the morning staff changed it to next day arrival. So on arrival it took an extra 15 min to get us sorted out. This was after a 3 hour drive and 8pm at night. Then after they sorted out a room demanded payment before we got the keys.
Limited facilities and felt a little bit unclean
Did'nt stay in it long enough to really enjoy anything. We were out and about exploring Folkestone Breakfast
Nice but very old hotel in need of restauration. The bathroom
Convenient situation for local amenities Would have liked a hairdryer in room
Only stayed overnight on route to France. But found it ideal for a one night stop.
the efficiency of the staff, and the location Unfortunately the shower head was cracked and there were no shower gels supplied... ( bad planning on my part ) AND those damn SEAGULLS.... ear plugs next time....
Our room was very clean and the downstairs bar had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom, although well appointed, the workmanship of the fitters was poor which gave it a rather shabby appearance, The spacious bedroom had minimal heating and the wind through the closed sash windows blew the curtains. I would not want to stay there in cold weather.
conveniently situated for attending leas cliff room / hotel in general could do with updating / redecorating
The friendly staff and "old world" victorian setting. N?A
The proprietor was kind and helpful. The room was very quiet. The hotel is a bit run down. The coffee was awful.
Nothing particularly Very tired and jaded - though we got a large room there were many niggly unsatisfactory items - broken shower curtain - unstuck wallpaper - windows that were nailed shut - really the list is endless
Friendly service. Excellent breakfast. Offroad parking, good location No ensuite facility
Room was very clean, Bed very comfortable and shower works well. Heating not on in room when we arrived - room was quite cold and took a while to warm up.
Handy for purpose of visit
friendly staff, good breakfast, free wifi Top floor room with an electric heater which took a while to make the room comfortable, cold bathroom, no chair in room. Musty smell in hallways (no smell in room, though)
Clean and Friendly
Hosts made us very welcome including the dog. Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Shower difficult to regulate. Needed andother chair in the room.
The hotel was comfortable and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful....
We only stayed for one night - but the staff were very helpful and friendly Only thing I would say is that our bed was not very comfortable - as we rolled into the bed, so we didn't have a great night's sleep.
Friendly efficient staff, freshly cooked food. Wi Fi did not reach the upper floors, no lift
The staff were so friendly and the hotel was spotless. It was like having all the comforts of home with a very high standard of elegance, style and class. I love the idea of the kitchen with fresh drinks and homemade cake that we could use as often as we like and the breakfast was also fantastic. I would definately recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.
Very good friendly excellent service really could not fault it. Could do with a lift and parking was a problem
Hospitality from Chris and Sarah Free drinks, DVDs, wireless, etc. Breakfast was very good Parking was a bit tricky but the hotel has 2 private parking places down the road.
Excellent stay! The Relish was wonderful and we will definately be returning next year. Rooms were beautiful, very clean and stylish. Cake and coffee was great too. Only down side was the pillows were too soft!.
The helpfulness and warm welcome, lush comfortable room with fantastic shower.
The location was perfect for the 40th wedding anniversary party we attended at the Leas Cliff Hall and also to access the beach the following morning for a lovely stroll towards Sandgate and back through the nature park/trail. We will bring our bikes next time as perfect for leisure cycle. Complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and cakes very nice touch and delicious tasting too! The breakfast was also very good. We stayed in the Cliff top room and had a fabulous view of the white cliffs of Dover, just as it said we would on the website. No bad points to report as our experience was very good.
Very friendly staff. None
The room was beautifully decorated, excellent facilities throughout the hotel including a coffee machine downstairs where you could help yourself anytime.
Nicely decorated and furnished. Friendly staff. Very clean. The cooked breakfast was lukewarm and we didn't feel that the bacon had been cooked enough.
it was just a very good value hotel and we both like it
Quit Hotel Restaurant/bar was closed at 22:00, however these facilities were the reason I booked there.
Fairly good value, comfy bed, good breakfast Room not that clean, 1st morning had a cold shower, second morning had a scalding shower, found that the cold tap did nothing,
The bed was comfortable, the room big. Staff were surly, not very welcoming. We were not told to help ourselves to fruit juice/cereals at breakfast, just asked what we wanted. Halfway through eating breakfast fruit juices were whisked away, the waitress did not smile once! Coffee was so strong it was undrinkable, I asked for some hot water (to make the coffee weaker) and was brought some in a glass! The hotel looked very 'tired'.
The friendliness of the staff. The cleanliness of the room, dust was gathering on the lamps. And the car park to the rear needs some attention, it didn't felt secure to leave my car there!
the beds and lining was clean the hotel needs up dateing .There were electric sockets hanging of the walls.Breakfast was poor and a damp smell in hotel
Large room, comfortable bed
Pleasant staff no, however, bed ws abit hard.
Breakfast was delicious! The room was on the 2nd floor but there is no lift. The hotel is a good 15 minutes walk from the shops but I they did not offer a morning newspaper which I would have happily paid for. Within 15 minutes of checking into my room and unpacking, I was asked to change my room because there was apparently a leak from my room into the floor below. The new room was much bigger but the furniture and decor was very tired, the bath was chipped and several wall tiles were cracked. That evening there was a bad storm. When I went to turn off the TV, I felt water dripping down on my head! In the morning, the water was not very hot but when I telephoned down to reception, they were not particulary concerned about either that or the leak.
None Old small TVs in rooms. Keys to parents room fitted lock in childrens room and visa versa Heating system not working. Luke warm water for washing.
Very economical Wake up service - one hour early!
Clean and comfortable, very friendly hostess. The toast had mould on the crust-very unexpected. The car had to be parked on the road and this is not indicated in the details of the hotel. Very tight parking on a busy road.
we had a wedding to go to and the lady who run the BB lets us in early so we could get change after a long joruney, she was very kind , would go back.
Owner was extremely welcoming and courteous - nothing was too much trouble. The room was quite small but this was fairly reflected in the price and as such was good value for money. It was clean and had all the facilties.
the room and hotel was very clean. The ensuite was very small and my partner had problems using it as he is 6ft 6" tall, I also had problems and I am only 5ft 6". The lack of parking we didnt know until we go there that we could have reserved a space. I also didnt like the £1 charge for paying by debit card.
Spotlessly clean room and en suite shower room.
Pleasant management The en-suite was a bit small and cupboard like. Ok for 1 night but would not recommend for a long stay.
Had to leave early morning and they gave us breakfast in a cooler box - very nice idea. Needed to rush out and with the confusion I forgot my ring - owner went out of his way and posted it - much appreciated !
The owner was very helpful and accomodating organising our breakfast the night before as we had to leave the hotel at 6am the next morning for the channel tunnel crossing.
Easy to find, Proprietor very helpful
Very clean, fresh, well presented. Spotless !. breakfast very good - First class overall ! Top floor room with cases -a little difficult but not a critisisum
Receptionist was very helpful, the hotel was clean & fresh feeling Restaurant closed at 8pm (I know it was boxing day but booked the hotel as it had a restaurant) and didn't know until arrived
Easy to find in good location close to Channel Tunnel. Apart from attached Pub there were no other bars or restaurants close by.
My stay was comfortable, the food was good & the staff were polite & professional.
Overall facilties are very good. Friendly efficient check in, an attractive hospitable bar and a very cost effective restaurant with a good range of choices giving excellent value. Best of all, cheerful, helpful staff. None that I noticed.
Friendly staff, good location for requirements. Don't like the key system for doors. Needs modernisation I think.
overall we found the hotel very good, we will stay with you again.the location was good for us.
Having resturant on site, good access to channel tunnel, staff made a good recommendation as to park nearby
Convenient access to the Channel Tunnel for travel.
Welcoming atmosphere - spacious clean and tidy room - good eating facilities - helpful reception None!
The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was really good and good value.Bedding and towels vert clean. The decor was dated. Rooms could do with updating.
Staff were helpful Food was not great and the dining room needed major refurbishment
near channel tunnel for onward journey.Clean bedding. Way too pricey for accomodation level......more like a b&b.Very basic decor and furniture which added to the cheap feel.We went on to stay in a hotel in Dusseldorf for more or less the same price per night, and there really was no comparison.
Great position on the sea front If I am being honest the decor and furnishings let the hotel down. Very old, a smell of damp in the corridors and the bedroom furniture and fittings in need of replacement.
hotel staff was very nice and helpfull
Room clean, staff fairly friendly, close to sea and handy for the town Small shower room, lack of bath, poor dining room, bland decor in dining room, lay out of tables, chairs, etc gave the dining aera a feel of a school dining hall of the 1940's, plus it being below street level also gave it a drab atmosphere with very little natural light. Staff would also look better in some sort of uniform/suits, than the casual clothes they wore
Very well positioned as we attended a wedding reception at the Channel Suite. Breakfast was awful. Hotel in need of some refurbishment. Noisy room, can hear people's conversation in other rooms.
Cheap, free parking nearby, clean and handy to the Eurotunnel and Dover ferry port The windows were a little drafty but the heating was very good.
convient to the venue we were visiting decor very tired as is the furniture, drunk staff friends at the bar
The hotel is quaint, off the international tourist track but still well located. The mattress was very soft; a bit too soft for any person with back issues.
The View from our room was excellent. It was clean. It did not provide breakfast as part of the cost. The decor was dated and uncoordinated in the rooms. Although the rooms were clean there were signs of wear and tear. There was no night bar and everything appeared to be extra to the price. We did not feel as if we had got a good deal. Although the staff were pleasant
Everything about this hotel was excellent. We wanted a relaxing stay doing a bit of touring. Used the bus services -excellent. Just what we wanted.
View of the sea! Lack of parking.
No car park. Very difficult to find anywhere to park close to Hotel. Will not use again because of this. It is a pity as hotel is good, service and food good.
Very efficient staff,clean and comfortable
Enjoyable weekend stay with minimum of fuss. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Location ideal. Will come again !
very near to Leas Cliff Halls which was the purpose of our stay, nice staff and the best breakfast we have had in folkestone! very dated, however this seems to sum up the majority of hotels in Folkestone and a very uncomfortable bed. Asked what time the bar shut and was advised to go over to the Portland!
As we only stayed for one night it would be difficult, but overall I found the staff friendly and efficient and had a hassle free stay. Just two things, we found the rooms to be too hot and it was a shame that we could only order drinks from the mini bar instead of the main bar after midnight.
Very good position, rooms very comfortable and the staff friendly.. The bar prices were very good for a hotel!
We found our stay very relaxing and comfortable. Your staff where all very accommodating and we shall visit again soon. Thank you. L&R Having to leave to go back to work!
Excellent and enthusiastic attentive staff Food pretty good The bar is drab and lacks atmosphere. The room had an extra charge for the sea view but it was difficult to see the sea because of the scaffolding!!! The room rate should have been reduced to basic.
Excellent breakfast, very friendly staff.
Great size room with fabulous sea view. Very helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to find us another equally good room when we decided to stay another night (newlywed couple had booked our room for their 1st night of honeymoon) and then to top it off - seeing a dolphin swimming close to to the beach Bed was a bit too hard
Food, grounds, locallity, lovely room but tired decor
The fantastic pool
The service in general was good and the staff were extremely helpful. Swimming pool is great fun for children. I love having tea and coffee in the hotel room. Lovely sea view. They forgot to provide us with the extra bed and our reminder did not seem to work, so as we were too tired to persit we ended up sleeping altogether in the same bed! A bit of a squeeze and the bed wobbled. The hotel rooms do not appear to have been refurbished in years. It is like going back in time. Could not open the windows.
The breakfast confusion with credit card when left
The restaurant meal was excellent and the Manager of the Restaurant was very professional and looked after us. Our first room number 218 was very disappointing - However, we complained and was moved to room 217 which was so much nicer and from then one we were very happy with our accommodation.
The friendly staff and the huge choice at breakfast.
High standard of customer service.Excellent restaurant. Great sea views.First class rooms with attention to detail, everything you need. Good location.
The room was spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Great sea view. Excellent breakfast and lovely cozy pub with very friendly landlady and staff. The hotel wi-fi does not work in the room- but this was only a minor irritation.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was of a very high standard for the price, and it's in a great location.
Very friendly owners, beautiful well appointed room. Very convenient for Channel Tunnel.
Clean, cosy,comfortable None
Room was gorgeous, huge windows, amazing sea view, comfy bed, BIG flat screen telly, nice decor, soft bedding. Very clean. Owners Stewart and Wendy were lovely. And Dave the dolphin put in a great performance for us on Sunday morning. Absolutely nothing.
Room was very clean and comfortable All ok but first impressions of bar area let it down
friendlyness & helpfullness of the staff nice restaurant good food very comfortable bed shame the weather was not better
We enjoyed wonderful sea view in luxury large room with all facilities and enjoyed Sandgate and the Beach as accommodation is facing right on sea front
Friendly staff and lovely room with all mod cons. Breakfast was excellent aswell. Pub is a bit scruffy - but nevertheless has bags of character.
