Food was delicious and excellent value for money.
I liked it all, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was small yet perfectly adequate and very clean. The food was brilliant. I'll be back again. Nothing to put here. Even the locals were very friendly.
Its location near to Sellafield and leaving The room was tiny, cold, damp, smelled and the shower was difficult to make work (known fault as notice on door).
Situated on castle grounds, amazing amenities, so much to explore! Rooms are basic and small, as they are in a refurbished medieval building.
Rang ahead at 7:45 PM to advise hotel we were running late and would not arrive until 10:00 PM. An answer phone message stated they were away from the phone but to leave a message and number for them to ring back. Arrived at hotel at 10:00 PM without having heard from them. The reception was closed and nobody in sight. Found a phone with a sign above it and five phone numbers listed. The sign advised that late arrivals should ring the first three numbers first. We did this and all three were not working. The sign further stated that if no answer on the first three numbers then try the fourth. This number rang on for ever. The sign finally stated that in the event the fourth number did not answer then try the last one. This number also rang on for ever. After 30 minutes of searching the hotel and trying numbers we gave up. Outrageous! We did find the Hotel Pennington in Ravenglass an absolute salvation and surprising discovery. Not only did they honour the Muncaster booking they gave us two rooms as they had no twins left. The rooms were a high standard and recently refitted. WIFI throughout the hotel and a superb breakfast. Don't bother with the Muncaster - go straight to the Pennington!
Impressive building, very comfortable wel appointed rooms, very clean, friendly staff, very good breakfast. Great value for money. We stayed here for access to Scafell Pike but otherwise I think it's quite out of the way for anything else. Te bar/dining area lacks ambience which is a shame given the overall standard of the hotel.
A family run business in a nice village location with very few tourists around. A very reasonable price, and an ice cream parlour with products from their own dairy. We've recommended it to others. Creaking floor boards but that goes with being in England
Excellent Service. Food was very good.
Mould in bedroom
Friendly staff, view of the beach, food.
All the staff very helpfull and food and service was exellent None
Warm Welcome, very friendly staff, and exceptionally good food. Fantastic views accross to the Isle on Man None
Very friendly. Beutiful location
excellant food and ales
Friendly and accommodating staff, easy atmosphere. Breakfast and meals well organised and reasonably priced. Pub situated in a very beautiful area. Noise from the cellar ventilator kept me awake through the night. No hot water in the sink in the bathroom. Lock on the bathroom was very difficult, sometimes didnt lock, sometimes jammed.
The staff were very friendly & helpfull. Meals & drinks were very fairly priced and the food was very good
friendly staff clean room and a good breakfast
very friendly and helpful staff, nice food, very comfortable room.Excellent location for hills and lakes
Friendly staff, excellent food and great location. Wireless internet access a huge plus for the business traveller. Rooms rather small.
The staff were very helpful and polite
Atmosphere, food, microbrewery on site, None
The home brewed beer was excellent and the staff helpful and interested. We appreciated the ambience.
Convenience. The standard of fitting/decor etc
The room was very clean and comfortable. English breakfast was delicious. If we revisit this area we will definitely come back.
Staff were excellent and good fun! Room was far beyond what we expected for the price. I have stayed in much more expensive hotels and the rooms were nowhere near as lovely. The proximity to sellafield but I did know this beforehand.
It was nice and quiet with beautiful surrounds
Pleasant building in nice grounds between the lakes and the coast
This is an excellent hotel and will definitely be staying there again. The meal in the restaurant was one of the best I have ever had!! I will be recommending this hotel to my friends.
old world charm noise from boiler room directly under our room
Good room, good food and drink at sensible prices and a good experience all round. None
Lovely hotel, staff great and food was brilliant.
Size of room, decor was fresh and gave the whole place a light, airy feel. Bed extremely comfortable. Dining room lovely and fresh looking. Whole place felt comfortable and pleasant to be in. Staff were helpful and friendly. Thought the hotel filled a much needed niche in accomodation for the area.We enjoyed our stay very much and would certainly return. Resturant did not have anything on the menu for vegetarians. Limited choice of continental breakfast for the price. Flooring in entrance very shabby and did not give good first impression whereas the rest of the hotel was excellent. Needs a good cleaning, but to be fair, renovation work was ongoing and had not been completely finished so this may be on the schedule.
recently refurbished. friendly staff, good customer service. the food was excellent nothing
Very welcoming friendly staff. Clean modern room. Excelent food and service. Relaxed atmosphere. nothing, everything was perfect
everything it was fantastic
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the overall comfort of the hotel. No, the stay was perfect.
This was an excellent hotel, location fantastic, the view of the esturary was brilliant, I was tempted to go for a walk, but it was -2 outside. Stayed on business, will return with my partner to really enjoy hotel and location It look a bit less than ideal from the outside, but inside 5 star.
friendly staff made us most welcome
Room and food was excellent. Very modern room in old building. Large & well appointed. Excellent bathroom en suite. Heating went off during (bitterly cold) night. Used hotel wifi and was 'virus' attacked (my software stopped attack). Superb food but slightly overpriced?
An Excellent hotel with excellent helpful staff, very nice food. A good place to relax, and what a location. no complaints
Large modern room well above our expectations. Pleasant friendly staff. Modern bar area with little atmosphere, more a waiting area for dining
Very nice staff The breakfast was quite weak: very poor portions!
Fantastic setting in the Lakes. Very friendly staff who were happy to provide an early breakfast to help us start our walk up Scafell Pike early. Comfortable and cosy room. 2 pubs just down the road who provide food (although one was closed for refurbishment during our stay). Good quality restaurant in hotel. Nothing. Loved it. Why does this place only have 2 stars?
Great views and location
We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. We could not find fault with the hotel, the staff or its fantastic views. Nothing at all
Warm clean room and friendly staff None
Room (no.14) was very clean, spacious, well presented and exceptionally comfortable! Staff were friendly, food excellent (especially the hearty breakfast). Just about perfect for a weekend away in the Lakes- we both enjoyed our stay and will use Low Wood Hall again. None!
Location and decor of hotel Food quality poor most things seem to be reheated
Excellent room and food.Friendly informal service.Great location.
A beautiful location with stunning views. Room excellent and very clean staff very friendly. Breakfast a bit sparce!
The surrounding countryside is amazing, although and can get quite cold. However going back to this Hotel gave me a really cosy feeling that was relaxing.
