9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere, nice surrounding area
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff added to the high rating as well as the wonderful breakfast served. Excellent coffee (locally hand roasted), homemade blueberry jam on fresh croissants, fresh fruit, and a tasty roasted vegetable frittata was a great way to start a busy day for us!
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: nothing to like. owner was gracious in allowing us to cancel without charges.
Cons: Way overpriced. Musty smell in room. exposed pipes = loud noises when water runs through. dark bathroom = unfit for use dark. breakfast from 8:30 - 9:30 on Sunday.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was convenient to local restaurants and family entertainment, i.e. movies, mall, mini golf, rec area, etc. The inn itself was well appointed and comfortable. Our room far exceeded our expectations in terms of size and comfort. The view and proximity of the falls from our room was perfect. The sound of the water made for a good night's sleep, followed by a delicious homemade breakfast the next morning. I would definitely recommend this inn to families and couples alike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: charming old gristmill, now inn, with a long interesting history. staff was friendly, efficient, and made me feel welcome. breakfast and coffee really nice. ate indoors, then took coffee out to small patio that overlooked the waterfall. My northampton friends were unaware of the inn, but since they dropped me off and picked me up, they are well aware of this lovely accommodation. I am spreading the word and have already contemplated a return visit for two nights in the fall - to visit museums, etc.
Cons: the check-in was confusing. I walked inside and looked for a person and found no one. I went back to the table in the entrance where everything was available for a self check-in. I will know what to do next time. It could help if the check-in sign added the words "Self check-in". I called the number they gave for questions, but no one answered. And I did figure it out myself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Great location that feels quiet and secluded, yet is an easy 15-minute drive to Northampton and other towns. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, and the inn and its surrounding grounds are peaceful and charming. We also liked seeing the chickens and goats from our window.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quaint and relaxing environment. Beautiful antiques throughout including the guest room. Nice and friendly staff. Nice location right next to the waterfall where you can sit outside. Convenient to restaurants and stores. Easy drive from BDL airport (45 minutes or so). Incredibly comfortable bed and nice bathroom amenities. Air conditioner was quiet and responsive.
Cons: First stay in a B&B, so nothing to compare to, but no issues.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: splendid breakfast, very peaceful pretty location, very close to Northampton, unique
Cons: initial directions of latitude and longitude
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: We never saw another individual (even at check in) other than the nice lady who fixed our breakfast. It could have been a unique place (old building on mill pond) but the configuration and experience was more like staying at a chain motel rather than a B&B. The air conditioning unit in our room buzzed for about one minute every 15 minutes all night long; even when I turned it off. This made it difficult to sleep.
5.0 Okay
Pros: My husband and i were disappointed with the breakfast...we felt it was more of a glorified continental breakfast than a full breakfast. There was very little to choose from as far as "ala cart" and the main dish, although good, was very light, we expected a hot breakfast with choices.
Cons: Our room was much smaller than the picture and we had brought cold waters and there wasn't a small frig which we felt could have been put in the closet. the room was dusty and I could have written my name in the dust on the nightstand, there was also a large dead bug on the bathroom floor. We felt the price for one night was very high for what we received, it was our 40th anniversary and we were disappointed. We sat for a little while looking at the falls but there was a liquor bottle thrown right below us in some stagnant water it just wasn't what we expected.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room could not have been nicer and the bed and bedding were heavenly. Moreover, the kindness and flexibility of the innkeepers was off the charts. They really went out of their way to be welcoming. The inn is lovely, convenient enough to the main area attractions but also just out of the way enough to be truly peaceful and relaxing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was great; but, comfortable and clean!
Cons: Nothing, it was all good
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully clean and comfortable. Have stayed here before without any unpleasant staff encounters like what we encountered this morning.
Cons: The thankfully UNARMED BREAKFAST GUARD (don’t touch her waffle griddle unless you are an expert in its use) was completely OVER THE TOP with rudeness. She definitely does not belong in any position that deals directly with guests. The front desk gal was obviously terrified by this employees behavior and ignored the situation until I insisted she do something. The manager apparently arrives at 8:00 a.m. but did not make any effort to address the issue... eg: even though his attention was requested, he/she was “to busy” to speak with us. Anywho........ wow.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: There was only one mirror in the room ( bathroom). It would have helped to have a full length mirror in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room was well appointed. Clean and well maintained. Nice bed and pillows. Comfortable room.
Cons: Breakfast hours are over too early.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and my wife even received a compliment. The breakfast staff lady was very pleasant also. I was given an American flag pin by the manager and a nice handshake for being a veteran.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the clean spacious rooms, really expansive food/snack station, full breakfast in the morning, gym and the staff was really helpful (even despite me getting locked out of my room for a couple hours- they totally made it up to me)!
Cons: Nothing- it was terrific!
7.0 Good
Pros: Quiet comfy rooms. Included bkfst.
Cons: bkfst hrs. Too short.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Small bottles of water in the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed.
Cons: No
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and modern.
Cons: no down sides.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is fairly new so the rooms feel clean and new. I like that you can open the window, even though its only a little bit. Most similar hotels do not have windows that open at all and it makes the rooms very stuffy. The complimentary breakfast!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very helpful when it came to questions about the area. The breakfast staff was also very nice. The common spaces were clean and well maintained.
Cons: The check in process took a bit of time. The pool was small.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Actually stayed at Allen House related to Amherst Inn. This is an amazing place. They’ve restored these historic homes to their gracious, luxurious state. Breakfast was great, beds were very comfortable and if you’re interested in the local college scene or just the scenery they’re centrally located. And the owners could not be any nicer. They’re also full of information about the area and its interesting sites. A charming part of the visit was the diary in our room filled in by many previous guests - no one had a bad word !
Cons: nothing not to like ;-)
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quaint, old fashioned style decor, quiet surroundings and comfortable home-like feeling.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous Victorian house, lovingly maintained. Across the street from Emily Dickinson home, short walk to downtown Amherst. Ann snd Alan are gracious and friendly hosts - got all of the guests interacting like family.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ann and Pam - the staff we met - were very cordial, attentive, and gracious hosts. The breakfast was delicious and the options were plentiful. The room was very clean and old world charming yet very comfortable. All in all everything was great!
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: Unprofessional staff, at times rude (Pam), at times laughably incompetent (i. e. oatmeal for breakfast with so much salt even the cook won’t eat it; yogurt that expired in March (!) is defended by someone from the staff who states he is a dairy farmer and as such knows that expiration date is “arbitrary” (sic). Room remained unclean for the first full day, while the lady who apparently was suppose to do that was seating in the leaving room watching soap opera on TV. And so on.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast were terrific, the hosts were very personable and kind, and the building is historic and interesting!
Cons: The temperature fluctuated from a little too cold to a little too warm, but when we asked, they turned the temperature down. It would’ve been nice to have a thermostat in the room that worked, but it really wasn’t a big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect! Close to town, walking distance to stores and restaurants. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, even offering to get up early to make me breakfast since I had to leave early for a conference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was immaculate and charmingly decorated. The owners are lovely people and very accommodating, right down to asking for any dietary restrictions or preferences for breakfast.
Cons: It’s not that I didn’t like it but, be prepared to chat with the other guests at the communal dining room table for breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are lovely and the hosts, Ruth and Richard, are lovelier. Fabulous breakfast, too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ruth’s omelette was the best I think I’ve ever had. Ruth and Richard are wonderful hosts. The bed was very comfortable. I loved staying at this B&B.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a delight to stay at the Daniel Stebbins B&B. We were up from the city for two nights to visit a student at the lovely Mt. Holyoke College. This was the perfect place -- walking distance to the college and cafes and so comfortable it felt like home (but more comfortable!). The rooms are ample and comfy and historic. And it was so quiet! We were so surprised at breakfast that the placed was completely booked. The owners Ruth and Richard made everyone feel so welcome. Breakfast was scrumptious and the clientele interesting (as were Ruth and Richard) to talk with. It snowed when we left and we went out to a completely shoveled parking lot and our car had been cleaned off. They sent us off with homemade banana bread for the drive home. We loved it so much we want to go back soon.
Cons: Everything was perfect!

Pros: We were staying overnight following my sister's funeral. The staff could not have been any more accommodating considering our need for staying at the hotel. I would especially like to thank Gail, who was working behind the Starbuck's/Bar area. We had a lovely conversation and she was so genuinely supportive and attentive as I continued to talk about our recent loss and how I was feeling. Thank you again, Gail, you were such a comfort.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Terrific staff, professionally run hotel.
Cons: What can I say - it’s a corporate mid-range chain hotel. Cheap(ish) decor and seems expensive for this smaller town location, but apparently that’s the going rate.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beds are comfortable. Place is really clean and rooms are comfortable.
Cons: Service when we checked in was not good. We had a group of 8 rooms and they were not prepared to check us in and were confused about our reservation. They wanted to swipe my card 8 times instead of just one time for all the rooms.

Pros: Go even just to see the how the house has been so carefully and lovingly restored and decorated with Victorian antiques, but stay to meet the muffin cats, the delightful host and hostess, and enjoy the bountiful breakfasts. Oh. Forgot to mention: great bedrooms with comfortable beds; new bathrooms with fluffy towels; and coffee, tea and treats 24/7. Also great location for walking to town, Emily’s house and her grave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ann and Alan are perfect hosts with very pleasant personalities . They accomodated our request for an early check in and we enjoyed our chats with them.
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was well made, and was well ventilated. Had a vintage look. The breakfast was modest but sufficient.
Cons: The room doors were a little difficult to open at times.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very personable and a pleasure to speak with. The Allen House is legitimately beautiful and almost feels like a museum in terms of restoration and furnishings. Be sure to pet the cats (they are the softest kitties you will ever feel -- and hypoallergenic) and stay for the breakfast which was very good.
Cons: The common areas are a bit musty as might be expected for a very old house with lots of original (period) furnishings. It didn't bother us, but folks with asthma may want to bring an inhaler just in case. This was *not* a problem in our room, only the downstairs common areas (hall, sitting and dining room).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Allen House exceeded my expectations.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My boyfriend Chris and I had to travel to Amherst for a wedding and I had always wanted to stay in a historic bed and breakfast, and we found this treasure. As an avid antiques lover and historic architecture enthusiast, I was in heaven! Within minutes of walking through the front door, I was in tears because I was overcome with the beauty and perfect attention to detail. What a gorgeous place! The innkeeper Ann showed us everything, and was so gracious! Her husband Alan is sweet and kind, we all bonded over this two-night stay! Our room was perfect with tons of ambiance and the most amazingly comfy beds! I usually don't sleep very well, but to my surprise the bed cradled me like a nest that was so comfortable that according to my fitbit, allowed me to have more deep sleep than ever before! The breakfast meal was located at their sister "Amherst Inn", just down the street. Once again, I was amazed at the glorious architecture, and Ann showed me around. The chef Pam prepared some wonderful blueberry pancakes with warmed pure maple syrup, which were amazing! During our stay at Allen house, we had some fantastic conversations with both of the owners, and I could go on and on about their hospitality. Without a doubt, I recommend these inns and would go back again in a heartbeat. This stay was like a lifelong dream of mine!
Cons: Nothing. This was completely perfect to us.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: it was ok- I was too rushed to sample everything. The eggs were excellent and the ham was good. No time tobecause of my conference for the rest of breakfast!
Cons: Atmosphere was a bit stuffy-but decor was lovely and room was lovely-no TV but that was no problem and not sure they had Air Conditioning either but it was comfortable any way. The staff was helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The innkeepers were wonderful and helpful, even late at night!
Cons: I was a bit confused about the pet situation. There are cats in one of the houses. But I was swiftly transferred to the other house so all worked out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We actually were put into the Amherst Inn, which seemed much nicer than the Allen House Inn and was right across from the Dickenson museum and homes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly staff and the location, especially love how much green it was surrounded by.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, great lobby, some rooms have balconies
Cons: Hotel decor is dated and could be refreshed but it's an historic hotel so not a big deal.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Convenient, exceptionally clean and comfortable, beautiful room, wonderful staff!!!
Cons: We liked everything!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a historical hotel in the middle of town. It has so much charm and a bar that dates to 1786. Rooms are comfortable and staff are very friendly and helpful.
Cons: N/a
8.0 Excellent
Cons: This area of the hotel really needs work. The menu needs to expanded to cater to chicken. It was really slow both at the restaurant and room service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room with upper patio access. Awesome views of downtown area and mountains. Building seemed very well maintained down to some very interesting details.
Cons: Included breakfast was a bit sparse - they do offer an additional breakfast / brunch menu though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Food was great. Most waitresses were excellent, except one.
Cons: The bathtub drain didn't work. Ruined my manicure digging out the plug. The air conditioner was noisy & turned into heat during the night. I always sleep in cold rooms. The breakfast waitress misinformed me about free breakfast, & I was charged.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location is great.
Cons: No amenities though and my room was tiny. To charge so much for a room, and call it a deluxe, was crazy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the continental breakfast area, the antique furniture pieces scattered about and the very helpful and courteous staff
Cons: Can’t think of a thing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Located in downtown Noho, the location of the hotel is great. Dozens of great restaurants within a couple of blocks.
Cons: The breakfast was awful and the service in the restaurant was bad too. The server ignored us and got our order wrong.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Location and ground level floor.
Cons: Room showed signs of wear and tear and is not conducive to the rate they charge. I believe for the quality of this room it was overpriced by $35 for the night.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location, nice yard, and one of the few hotels in Northampton that allows pets.
Cons: Slow check in. Room is just ok - rather like an upscale motel....and yet the price does not reflect this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptional and was willing to go above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a newly renovated inn within walking distance of Smith College and downtown Northampton. It is perfect! I'd say if you would like to enjoy a lovely New England college town, stay here! Unfortunately, I missed breakfast due to jet lag.
Cons: This is not an inexpensive place to stay. But I think the price was reasonable.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location to Northampton was good. Parking was convenient. Nice neighborhood. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: It's tired. The lobby smells musty. The carpeting is dirty and stained in the hall and in the rooms. The bathroom needs remodeling. The breakfast was sparsely provisioned. I thought it was overpriced for the experience. I would not return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breads and scones for breakfast. Real dishes, minimizing disposables and plastic. Coffee in the common area 24/7. Bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom sink in our room (110) did not drain well. Please add some soap dishes in the shower and one grab bar on the wall. The grab bar does not have to be the big ugly ones. Some are no thicker than a towel bar. Fortunately the floor of the tub is not slippery.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pretty basic even for an American hotel. That said, hot-out-of-the-oven scones were pretty darned good.
Cons: The toilet was slow to flush (but, not so bad we had to call the desk). Advised them on check-out.
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfy bed and pillows- basically clean- friendly
Cons: A nighttime call to ask if all was well- wouldn’t stop ringing- super slippery bathroom floors- dangerously so-lots of dirt and dust behind headboard which I saw because I had to plug in lamp. Weak coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Comfortable bed & pillows. Friendly staff and easy check in & check out. Coffee and scones were delicious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A real pleasant experience!
Cons: Not a thing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
Cons: Not much provided for breakfast. Had to wait for coffee. Bathroom door did not shut completely.

Cons: be nice to have a hot breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, courteous and friendly staff.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location, close to all the amenities.
Cons: Definitely an economy experience. Pool that is opens onto the lobby felt a little exposed but was clean and well kept. The rooms were small but clean. The breakfast left something to be desired but fine if you just need a bite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our car needed brake repairs so the Midas right next door was the primary reason we stopped here. St Patrick's evening made it hard to find an available shop, and we needed to get off the road after dropping off our daughter at U Mass. The carpets are a bit worn and it's not as modern as other economy chains, but the beds are comfortable and after a good shower, we woke up the next morning refreshed. We're currently waiting for the repairs to be completed, and enjoying the Continental breakfast of English muffins, toast, Eggos, yogurt, danishes and boiled eggs. There are enough seats to eat in the dining area, and a coffee, juice station to refill drinks. It's a great bang for your buck and conveniently located in the Westgate Center, at the intersection of 116 and 9, with Applebee's, a Credit Union, Staples, Moe's and Trader Joe's within walking distance, so you can get to things without a car.
Cons: The room card didn't work even after I returned to the front desk and had them check it, so the 3rd time, the woman walked up with me (she was solo for the evening). Her Master keycard worked for her, but not our cards, so we had to always make sure someone was always in the room to open it. For safety issues, especially for the hotel employees, they should always have at least 2 people available.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff & pool
Cons: AC was loud. Window was broken in 307.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was exceptionally clean. I liked having the wood floors rather than wall to wall carpeting, which is often not so clean.
Cons: Although the continental breakfast was adequate, many hotels of the same price offer a full breakfast. For the price, it would be much better value with more offered for breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Had a breakfast meeting so didn't use it, but nice offer. GREAT value: extremely well located, very clean, indoor pool (didn't use but nice to see).
Cons: No small gym -- would have liked a bike for morning exercise.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, affordable - value
7.5 Good
Pros: I think need more food. location is ok

Pros: Leaving
Cons: The rooms. They are dark, stinky and just way too $$ for what you get! Go here as a last resort! Stay at hilton tru in chicopee its much less $$ and FAR better!

5.5 Okay
Pros: Staff nice. Breakfast good

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location. Close to all that we needed and wanted.
Cons: Room was nice, bathroom adequate but on the small side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely room, big enough for both of us and then some. We were inside instead of out, which was nice. Breakfast in the morning was an unexpected and nice touch. They also had a great little aquarium in the lobby that was very nice to look at.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Walking distance to Main Street Northampton but immediate area sketchy. The check in staff were friendly. Air conditioning worked well. Bed comfortable.
Cons: Gross. Dirty. Smelly. Dilapidated. Crazy expensive.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great.Room door was pretty wore out could see outside with it closed.otherwise room was good.little musty smell
Cons: entry door,and smell
4.3 Okay
Pros: Breakfast eggs and sandwich were tasteless. Good TV service.
Cons: The hotel's exterior looks a little shabby. I was expecting to see a subpar room based on the exterior appearance, but generally it was good. The shower tracks needed a thorough cleaning to get rid of the black dirt/mold. The stopper in the sink did not function. The location is a little inaccessible to restaurants and stores. It would have been nice to serve a snack in the evening instead of just coffee. I don't feel secure in this type of hotel where the entrance is from the street. Seeing men congregating to smoke outside my room was intimidating. I wish I could have had a room in the three-story building, but I suppose there were none available, even though I expressed interest in having one of those rooms.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I often stay here. Accommodations are clean. Staff is friendly. Breakfast has been fine, the few times I've taken the time to go. Very conveniently located.
Cons: Noise can be an issue.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Staff was nice
Cons: The bed was so uncomfortable, terrible night sleep, the exterior needs a LOT of work. The pool area filthy. Not worth the money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts differed everyday. First time I have seen that. The staff was amazing
Cons: Liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Price and location.
Cons: Could improve quality of the breakfast. No one likes their eggs and sausages in a warmer in standing water. Breakfast is an excellent chance to add value.

Pros: Good bed & pillows, parking good, good value
Cons: Breakfast ended 20 minutes early because management chose not to open a new container of waffle batter! Seriously? At least 5 patrons did not get breakfast as promised. We finally got batter after multiple complaints. Penny wise, dollar foolish, IMHO
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This was an excellent value. I was able to stay here for a very low price - but for only one night!
Cons: Nothing worth stating. This was a surprisingly inexpensive place to stay considering the quality of the room.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent pool.
Cons: The “breakfast was a disappointment, even among roadside hotels offering “continental breakfast.” Not worth the trouble.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to sites and good value. Check out Eric Carle and Emily Dickinson museums.
Cons: A bit dated. Strange doctors office smell. Breakfast was just ok. Needs a new toaster.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: The bathroom was disgusting.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, clean outdoor pool
Cons: Rug in the room was dirty, room had a faint sour odor
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice- I liked the hard boiled eggs and bagels with cream cheese. The fresh fruit was good also. much better than just a donuts and coffee at most places.
Cons: No bell to get someone at the front desk. Sometimes you would have to wait and make coughing noises to get someone to come out from the back. One day a desk clerk had his kids hanging out in the lounge as he worked, rather than the kids being in a summer day camp. This is unprofessional, but this might also be a symptom of not paying a living wage, so that these children can get daycare.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly , room , sheets crispy! Outdoor pool
Cons: Could add some items to breakfast .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was great. ( the person who takes care of the breakfast was a really kind, helpful and friendly man) The location was perfect. Staff was polite and professional ( except one girl at the front desk first day.. her appearance was very sloppy...but all of the others were great and super kind)
Cons: I would have been happy to have more lights at the backside parking lot or visible cameras. I haven’t had any issues with my car the whole stay, but I would’ve felt more comfortable.

By the end of our stay, at least one member of our party had an unidentified bug bite (pictured below). The place had not been updated in quite a while, and we definitely will not be back.
